  • Convert video to audio only

I'm looking to play video podcasts (classroom lectures) on my Nano6g - even as audio only.
My university classes (U. Florida) come as a podcast which Itunes puts in the Movies folder rather than the Podcast or ItunesU folder, perhaps because of the file format. I've tried to copy the files into other folders but that doesn't work.
Is there a way in Itunes 10 to convert these to audio only tracks?
It really ***** that my 5g had this functionality but now I have to carry my Classic and my Nano 6G to do what the 5G could.

Not in iTunes, ditto for QuickTime.
but I bet a google search would point you to some applications that can do it.
And you might check, some podcasts have both versions: video and audio.

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running? Have you updated 13 to 13.1 yet using an opened project's Help Menu/Updates?
    If not, please do so.
You have not given us enough information with which to help you.
What are the properties of your source file that is presenting in the project with audio but no video?
Quickest way to gain that information is from brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video.
    I am looking for
    video compression
    audio compression
    frame size
    frame rate
    interlaced or progressive
    file extension
    pixel aspect ratio
What does the file's thumbnail look like in Project Assets after it is imported....thumbnail with no image (gray), thumbnail with only an audio icon
within it, or other? On the Timeline, what do you see represented in Video 1....nothing as opposed to Audio 1 where you see the audio portion of
    the file?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer along with Premiere Elements 13/13.1? Are you running the programs as
    administrator?
Is your video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?

  • Converting a Music Video to Audio only (music)

I have a music video (mpeg4 format I believe) and I would like to convert it to audio. It is a clip (video) of a song from YouTube and I would like to just listen to it on my iPod. I was also wanting to add lyrics to it but seen that I could not add lyrics when I go to "Get Info" to a music video.

    Hi njrichardson,
You can only add lyrics to songs, not music videos. I don't think iTunes can convert music videos into songs, so you'll have to use an external software or website to do that.

  • No video (black), audio only, from imported .mov files

Bear with me while I explain the whole process to get where I am, which is that in FCE, I am importing .mov files and they are completely black, no video, just audio.  When I bring a clip into the timeline and try to render even a small clip, it is still black.
I'm not well-versed in video so please bear with me:
    Steps:
    1.  I received large video files from a videographer
    2.  the large files could not be imported or played in FCE
    3.  downloaded HandBrake converter and began converting files.  Kept them at the same size, but they were then renamed .mov files.
    4.  When I open them in QuickTime, they are black - no video.  But when I see them on the drive and press spacebar in 'finder' to play them, I can see the video.
    5.  When I import them into FCE they are black - no video - just audio.
FCE is currently set (in Easy Setup) to:  AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1920-1080i60
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I tried converting one file to mp4 and it works fine in FCE, but this takes a long, long time to convert.
    thanks
There is a 2nd issue that may relate to this:  I am trying to import JVC .m4v files and I am getting "File error 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unkown".  These files CAN be opened in Quicktime.
    FCE HD 4.0.1
    Mac OS 10.6.8

I'm having similar, but slightlly different issues.
I have been using FCE 4 on Mac OSX 10.7.5 with Quicktime 10.1 (501.29).
I convert my footage in Mpeg Streamclip (GREAT free program) and set the files to the Apple Intermediate Codec.  This makes them work really well in my timeline and I don't have rendering issues or problems.
So, my problem comes when I File/Export/Quictime Movie.
The original file plays fine, but they're 2-3 gbs each, so I put them into Quicktime to convert them to a webfriendly size, but every single time they come out as an audio only file.  GRRRR!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Maybe I'm missing something stupid.
Thanks so much for your help.
    Sincerely,
    Steve

  • Why does my iPad 2 think my iTunes U videos are audio-only?

I downloaded some iTunes U videos via iTunes 10.5.2 and they play fine (as videos with full audio) in iTunes 10.5.2 on my MacOS 10.5.8 dual G5 PowerMac.  However, when I sync up my iPad2 running iOS 5.0.1 via USB cable with the above iTunes 10.5.2 containing the above iTunes U videos, the iPad2 somehow thinks they are just audio-only files and they show up in the Music app (double tapping them in the Music app just plays the audio part of the file without any video) instead of the Videos app (which I would expect to find them).  After all, when I sync up non-iTunes U movies to my iPad 2, it recognizes them as regular videos and they show up and play fine in the Videos app.  And since I can watch the videos on my PowerMac desktop, it's obvious that the video hasn't been somehow stripped out.  Is there a setting I can batch-set on all these iTunes U files in iTunes that will allow the iPad 2 to recognize them as videos instead of only audio?

If you have the WiFi-only iPad (which does not have GPS) your location is determined by the mapped location of nearby WiFi routers.
Without GPS location-finding is done by using a Apple location database which contains the MAC addresses of routers and their physical location. A MAC address is a unique number which is built-in to all network devices when manufactured.
The Apple database is built and updated by Apple GPS-enabled devices (primarily iPhones) actually seeing routers and then adding/updating the router's locations into the database.
Note to be used for location determination, a device does not need to be actually connected to a router, it just has to see the router. More precise location determination can be done if several nearby routers can be seen. When a router is moved from one location to another erroneous locations can sometimes be reported until the router's location is corrected in Apple's database. This may be the source of your problem.

  • Re-enable video for audio only clips in sequence

    Hi all,
I've been an editor for quite sometime now, but I'm new to Premiere Pro CS5.
I have a dozen or so clips in my sequence that I used only the audio from a video/audio source file.
I now want to re-enable the video for these clips.
If I double click on them in the sequence it only opens up the audio element in the source window and I cannot re-enable the video to pull it down onto the sequence.
How can I bring the video back without having to go back to the original clip in the bin and re-marking the in and out points and overlaying it?
    Many thanks in advance

Make sure the track that contains the clip you want is targetted; that means clicking the Audio buttons in the track headers. Park the CTI at the beginning of the clip you want, and hit the "M" key; this will match frame the original clip and load it into the Source Monitor. From there, you can add/refine your in and out points, and then drag or insert the video into the sequence. Finally, you can relink the video and the audio; be sure to unlink the audio tracks first, then select the audio and video and relink. That will keep the video and audio as a single element.

  • Can I change my podcast from "video" to "audio only"?

I submitted my podcast and never got an email, but it must have gotten accepted because I can find it when I search for it: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/soul-deep-radio/id493618518
Now that I am "in" what can I do to change my podcast from video to audio?  I have 3 files in my feed that are marked as video but are actually audio files.  Because of that my feed has a black background and I would rather audio feed for cosmetic reasons, and because I don't want to mislead people into thinking that there are going to be videos when there won't be.
Also,  I wanted to change my feed to a feedburner version of the same one, but I was going to wait until I heard that my podcast was officially approved before doing so.
    Thanks

For reference, your feed is at
    http://www.souldeepradio.net/feed/podcast/
Three of your episodes are .mp4 - the 'enclosure' tag looks like this:
    <enclosure url="http://www.souldeepradio.net/Mixes/thebooksof_.m4a.mp4" length="152342025" type="video/mp4" />
You will note that not only is the file a video formate (even though in fact it may only carry audio) and the 'type' is video. This is why your podcast has the black background: you should replace these three episodes with .mp3 versions and amend the feed accordingly - try not to change the 'guid' tags or existing subscribers will find themselves downloading the new version.
The method for moving iTunes to a different podcast feed URL is detailed here:

  • Videos play audio only?

Since the iPod got dropped on the floor recently, everything works but we can't get the video from the videos, we get the audio only. Games work, music works fine. If this was a problem with the screen, these wouldn't work, right
Videos play fine on iTunes on the computer, but not iPod. Only audio plays on iPod.
If the files were corrupted, wouldn't play full videos on mac. or would it.

    Possible cable connection error...
If you have a cable +designed for use with the Apple iPod,+ then all you need do is match up the colors, red to red, white to white and yellow to yello. If you're curious...
    Red is right side audio
    White is left side audio
    Yellow is Video
If you have a cable +designed for use with something other than the Apple iPod,+ the following may be your situation:
White is Right Audio and should connect to the TV's Red jack
Yellow is Left Audio and should connect to the TV's White jack
Red is Video and should connect to the TV's video jack

  • Convert video to audio?

I like a song but it has two versions. I like the version that is on the video, not the audio one. Can I convert the video to audio somehow so it will let me put it on my iPod mini? Any help would be appreciated.

I'd like to know the same thing. I bought two videos, knowing I wouldn't be able to watch them on my mini. I did think I would be able to listen to the music though.
Am I going to have to buy the song as well?

  • Music videos play audio only

i have a bunch of music videos i downloaded from youtube using PodTube. the videos are in .mp4 format that are converted for the ipod. when i sync them to the iphone they appear in the music video section, but when i play them i get a blank screen but it plays the full audio. my question is, how do i get the video to play (along w/ the audio)?
the video dimensions are 320x240 and the codec is MPEG-4.

found a temporary solution, but it still strange. for each clip I did "get info" and changed the media type from "video clip" to "films". Now they play just fine.

  • Live Flash Streams issue on Multiple Macs - video frozen, audio only

With live Flash streams on some Macs, the video doesn't play and only the audio does (or more accurately, the video plays for a second or so and then shows a frozen frame while the audio keeps going).  We've had this occur on three different Macs so far, but not all Macs we've tested on.  We were able to look up the graphics cards on two of them that had issues and they both have both NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and 9600M GT listed in the System Profiler.
Having the user manually disable hardware acceleration fixes the issue, as does pausing and then playing the video.  Running Safari in 32 bit mode did NOT fix the issue.
Flash player release notes list this as a known issue.  When might a patch for be released?  We don't want to disable hardware acceleration for all Mac users because it only affects some of them and thus some / many would be unnecessarily negatively impacted.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/901/cpsid_90194.html#main_known%20issues
Mac users may run into rendering issues with certain live streams due to  an incompatibility between the stream encoding and the hardware  decoder. We are aware of this issue and are working with Apple to  resolve it.  Users may workaround the issue by pausing and then  unpausing the live stream.  Developers can work around this issue by  forcing the video to be decoded in software - create two Video objects,  attach the stream to the first, then stop it and attach the stream to  the second Video object (2819870, 2818959, 2779420).

    From Brad Outlaw:
Are you reusing the same Video object for the new NetStreams?  Have you tried doing a Video.attachNetStream(null), Video.clear() and then attaching the new (or re-allocated) NetStream object?  The video pipeline might be playing out some residual data that was sent to it from the prior NetStream.
Adding those suggestions seems have have done the trick. I had simply been trying to manipulate the NetStream and not the Video. Although I did try attaching a null NetStream to the video at one point, I had not done so with the Video.clear().
