Converting video to Flash
I need to get right up to speed on this issue. So, does anyone know a website that has what I need to know, and what is the simplest most efficient program for either exporting from FCP to flash, or a converter from QT to Flash.
Also, for those in the know - what is the average meg per minute of footage ratio I should be heading for?
I am looking to display video in the size of about 4inch by 3inch or there abouts.
I have considered using QT, RM or WMV files instead of Flash, but feel Flash has much greater acceptance rate among viewers.
Thanks - (flash newby)
The latest version of Flash 8 Professional comes with an FLV encoding application. It works very well and allows you to choose between the older Spark CODEC or the new higher quality FLV CODEC.
Flash standard will not have this application. I use the Macromedia Studio which does have it and strongly recommend it for anyone doing such work. If you are not a Flash user, just provide the file in DV or DV50 and have the Flash developer run the encode. Most Flash developers prefer this since they can make several versions (for different connection speeds).
FLV is an extraordinary format that will eventually act as a direct competitor to QuickTime, Windows Media and Real. It is built in to the Flash 8 plugin and is completely cross platform. I would strongly recommend using it in sites where a 30+MB download for QuickTime Installer is asking too much. The quality of the FLV encoder is roughly equivalent to Apple's MP4 or Windows Media 9. 3ivx MP4 and H264 are much better, but only work through QuickTime. The SPARK CODEC is older and much lower quality but more people have the older Flash plugin, so it's a tradeoff.

Converting video to flash file (newbie ?)
Hi I was trying to convert an 14 mb mpeg 4 video file to an FLV file using the flash encoder. The resulting flash file to my surprise was 18 MB
I was expecting a very small file that I could post on the web. Can someone tell me what Im doing wrong. Im using the CS3 version.
I also need to convert .MOV files. Do I need a separate conversion software tool?Sorenson Squeeze has a "watch folder" option, so they
probably have it set up to automatically convert from the upload
folder into a destination folder. -
How to export and/or converting video to flash
I'm having a problem finding a way to make a flash video file. I'm using FCE 3.5 and cannot seem to export my video to be a flash video file. Is there a way to export with FCE 3.5 to flash?
Also since I've been having this problem, I thought I could perhaps export my video as a mov file, and then convert it to a flash file, but I haven't had much luck finding a way. Quicktime pro doesn't seem to do it. Is there a way to convert mov files to be a flash video file?
I appreciate any help in letting me know what my options are and/or steps to achieving those. Thanks. You need Flash itself or a .mov to .swf converter. You can google to find the converters. ffmpegx can do it.

I am trying to use Flash 8 video encoder to convert some mpg
and avi files to use in a web site. when i try to convert, and i
click to look at the advanced options, i see that the software
cannot encode the video. this doesn't happen when i am using a
quicktime file. is there something i need to do differentMaybe your codecs are messed up, and the AVI & MPEG
containers are using a different codec not supported by the
converter. -

Converting video to Flash with controls
I want to take video from a DVD and turn it into a Flash
movie so I can use
it on a web page. I would like it to have the controls for
playing and
pausing. What would be the easiest way to do this? Is there
certain software
I should be looking for?
Thanks
DebbieCertain software other than Flash? have you read the help
docs regarding the FLV (Flash Video)
format? There's an entire section of this site dedicated to
how to incorporate Flash video into your
website:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/video.html
Also, go here:
http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/
select Flash and then narrow it down to FLV - there are
several video tutorials from Richard Galvan
to watch.
hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me if there is a shareware program that converts video files to flv?
FilmRedux (open source version of Visual Hub) or FFmpegX. Alternatively, you can upload to YouTube, let them convert the file, and then download the converted file version. -

Can't play .flv video in Flash 8
I have recently converted three videos (each about 4 minutes
long) from .mov to .flv. in order to play them in Flash. However, I
can’t get them to play in Flash 8 Professional. I followed
the instructions in Flash help and imported the video into Flash
using the Video Import Wizard. I tried using each of the four
deployment options starting with “Progressive download from a
web server.” In my video folder I end up with three files for
a video, a Flash Video File (with FLV in the upper left corner), a
Flash Movie File, a Flash Document file, and a ClearOverPlayMute
Flash Movie file. However, when I open any of the files (including
the movie files) and click on Test Movie, the video doesn’t
play. To make things more interesting, I had previously converted
the same three videos from .mov to .flv before editing them and was
able to play all of them in Flash. But I can’t seem to repeat
the process with my new edited versions. I would appreciate it if
anybody could let me know what I am doing wrong. In our experience with doing what you have described is this.
It takes 3 different pages of 3 different codes, to make
something play. Music, Videos-whatever.
html
php
javascript
Why, because someone didn't think forward enough to
incorporate it all into 1 easy to use thing at the time. There are
things available now that will do them all for you (Like my space
does for you), but we don't know where to send you to get them.
Good luck, and please do let us know if you find the proper
converter that will do it all for you and all you have to do is
give it a name, as we have well OVER 10 terabytes of video that we
would LOVE to share with the World, and writing 3 pages of code for
each video will take approximately 437 lifetimes, and we're all on
our last one already........

No sound when convert videos to ipod
i have bought quicktime pro, and i can successfully convert videos onto my ipod, but there is no sound on them. has anyone got a clue how i can resolve this?
thanks alot
Windows XPNo new "points" can be given as yours was just a tagged on response to an already answered question.
Muxed file formats (MPEG 1 or 2 and Flash) are intended for playback only. MPEG 1 or 2 require licensing agreements ($$) from the Moving Pictures Export Group (the people that make the file name MPEG) which would be passed on to all end users and Apple has decided against those extra fees.
Those are the "limitations" of the Apple software. It currently doesn't extract audio from muxed file formats and I don't expect any changes any time soon.
Dozens (hundreds) of third party software apps can convert your file and include audio. Many of them are free.
MPEG Streamclip offers both a Mac and Windows version. It can convert your .mpg file with audio. It even has a "one button" export feature to meet the specifications for iPod files.
Now you really know the limitations of the software and the reasons for them.
Get some third party tool to make your iPod files from your muxed file formatted ones. -
Want to share with you, guys!!!
Just find very good tool that can convert Video AVI, ASF,
WMV, MOV, MP4, MPEG, MPG files to Flash SWF and FLV.
You can download it HERE if you need...
HEREHas anybody ever used one or recommend one. Preferably free. < </div>
You're on your own there. But if you find one you lie, please come back and let us know which one you used.
The buzz around Flash is still bigger than the reality as witnessed by your misunderstanding. it is NOT a univresal solution to anything and it comes with a heavy learning curve.
Flash is a super efficient visual technology that uses, when it can, the host computer to build images. This keeps the files really small. However, this trick only works with vector images. Video must be rasterized so the Flash version of any QT file is going to be about the same size. Flash has the advantage of offering universally available free players. QT and WMV are proprietary and the two owners have conflicting agendas about global domination. Adobe wants to rule the world, too, but Flash is free and will run on anything anywhere anytime.
Drop by adobe.com and spend a few days trying to figure it out.

Automating Video-to-Flash Encoding/Conversions
Hi, I hope someone can help me with this, as numerous calls
to Adobe have gone unanswered (no callbacks).
I need to either find a product and/or solution that will
enable me to convert various video formats (e.g., QuickTime, MPEG,
Windows Media, etc.) to Flash automatically as opposed to doing it
manually via the Macromedia Flash 8 Video Encoder or other manual
process(es).
A good example of the functionality I need is equivalent to
how
YouTube works: When you upload a
video to YouTube, some background process/service runs that takes
that video and converts it to Flash, and this is done
automatically--without user/manual processing. I need to have a
solution that does something like that.
Any suggestions/help are/is greatly appreciated. In my case, this is 3 physical (not partitions) SATA II HDD's, where I spread the I/O load over all three.
C:\ OS, programs
D:\ Projects w/ Scratch Disks
E:\ Media and Page File (this system)
In the particular case above, the test Project happened to be on my E:\, along with the media, and my Page File. That is not how I normally work, but decided to leave it alone, for this timing test. It is obviously not the ideal, when it comes to "spreading the load," and is not my recommended scheme. The Export was also to that same E:\, so there should have been a bit of an I/O bottleneck there.
I also went against my normal workflow, as I did not shut down anything, including AnitVirus, spy-sweeping and pop-up blocking, plus I had 5 tabs open and active in Chrome (my browser). Again, this should have created a bit of a CPU bottleneck.
Still, with all those things being done in a less than ideal situation, the time was pretty good. Not sure how much I could have shaved off the Export process, had I set things up in my normal fashion, and created an ideal environment.
Sorry to not define the terms early on.
Good luck,

is there any way how to load any video type into flash?..
like .avi (divx, ..), .mpeg, .3gp, .mov .. something i should put
some codec .dll to load.. i know, flash player is not video player,
but is there any chance how to do it and not to convert videos to
.flv?..
i see youtube - there are lot of video types.. i think.. :)
thanx for replyYoutube uses FLV files exclusively, and there is
unfortunately, no way to do what you want. -
hello everyone,
this maybe someone already asked, but i couldn't find any answer.
so, i need to import a video to flash timeline not with playback, SO when i move around i can see the video in each frame than i can draw my animation effect on it . normal i will import flv, but "thanks" to cc 2014, even media encore no longer support flv, but flash still ask me to convert video to flv so i can add on to the timeline (logic?)
than i 'm like ok i can work in photoshop, but it is not in vector, so i can't really scale up and down cause the pixel edge will start to appear.
could anyone gave me a solution of this? i don't even know how to find the cc with flv support anymore.....
Thank youThen I misunderstood you. If you need to create an .flv video then you'll have to use an older copy of Adobe Media Encoder, 7.2 or earlier, or use Flash CS6, or use a third party application.
I have also tried [OFFICIAL] iSkysoft | Video Converter, Video Downloader, DVD Creator
There is a free online file transcoder, Zamzar - video converter, audio converter, image converter, eBook converter
Both of these work and may suit your needs. -
How to import a .mp4 video into Flash?
I have not been able to import an .mp4 video into flash 8.
The video simply doesn't show up in the import box
when I go through file - import. Is there a way to get flash
to recognize the .mp4 format? Do I have to convert the video to
another format? If so, how would I do that?KeviMRooney wrote:

You can only import what's on your import file format type
list.
Which is no mp4 for flash 8.
For video editing, google... there are countless solutions,
from super
expensive shareware to not so expensive basic tools... Seldom
any freeware
when comes to video editing tools.
