Converting video with pqdvd gives a flicker??

Hi folks, I've been using the DVD to iPod converter from pqdvd.com and it's been amazing except on a few shows that I've converted from .avi there is a line that runs horizontally across the top of the screen that kind of flickers constantly. Anyone else notice this?? Is it the software or iPod?? Maybe other people are noticing this problem with other software?? Any feedback would be appreciated...

Hello, rohanw82, I am glad to share my experience with you.
At first, make sure what format you need to convert to. And then use MKV Converter Mac program to convert your MKV files, such as Pavtube MKV Converter for Mac.
Its main function is to convert MKV to other common video formats such as AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, MP4, etc. Moreover, its another additional function can satisfy you need that split the large MKV video to segments: Trim.
Next are the detailed steps about trimming your MKV video:
1、click the “Edit” button on the top of the program and you will see an “Edit” window. At the bottom of the pop-up window, there are six items for you to select.
2、Click "Trim" and then you can set the start time and the end time to convert.
( Trim Start----Cut off the part before this point. Make this point the start of video.
Trim End----Cut off the part after this point. Make this point the end of video. )
After converting the first segment, use the same method to convert anther segment to convert.

  • Sync problem converting videos with SU

Hi there. I have owned my Creative Zen Vision:m 30gig player for about 2 weeks now. So far I have really come to love this device. I have learned how to put album art on all my favourite albums with ?Album Art Downloader? and I am using Media Monkey to manage and sync my mp3 files from my pc to my Vision:m. I have even loaded all my photos onto the player and bought the accessories pack so that I can hook it up to my television ? it works perfectly.
My last challenge (so far) was to figure out how to make this video thing work as I have about 00 videos which I have downloaded from Google video via a plugin for Mozilla Firefox called ?Video Downloader ?. The videos from Google video are encoded into something called a .flv file. I have done A LOT of reading here and other places on how to convert the various formats into formats the player can understand. Apparently the program ?Super? is THE thing for converting almost anything into well anything. I tried it and found out I could select ALL of my videos and select a common setting for them all to be encoded into. My first reaction?. sweeeeeet! The videos did not seem to have lost much quality and when I loaded them to the player, it would play them nicely? or so I thought.
It did however slowly but inevitably become clear to me that despite my most fierce attempts of denial? there was a sync problem with the audio. Not a huge annoyance but still an annoyance, something which I knew I couldn?t li've with. I therefore rushed to the program and tried to shuffle the settings a bit, changed the codecs changed the containers but nothing would work. The sound sync problem would still be there, lurking. The problem was also present when converting high quality xvid movies.
This is where my creativity and patience has come to an end. This is where I give up and crawl to you begging for help. I in order for you to help me, I will try to help YOU recreate my scenario.
I have a video, perhaps a little morbid, where the sync problem is very obvious after you have converted it with super, here is the link http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7233445036972827652
I use a plugin for Firefox to download videos from Youtube, Google video, etc. called ?Video Downloader?, here?s the link
    https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/
The settings I use for Super are the following:
Output Container: Avi (For Pocket Pc)
    Output Video Codec: Mpeg4
    Video Scale Size: 320*240
    Frame/Sec: 25
    Bitrate: 336
    Hi Quality: ?Checked?
    Stretch It: ?Checked?
    Sampling Freq: 22050
    Bitrate kbps: 28
Ok if you manage to download the clip from google video (easy) AND convert with Super into a format fitting for the Zen Vision:m without the sync problem? well my joy will break any ?happy-meter? out there
Ps. I did actually find a way to fix the sync problem, I checked the ?Directshow? for the ffmpeg but the picture was sort of lagging and looking REALLY ugly so that actually created a problem much worse than the previous one.
Thank you for your time and patience

I am not sure I can help you but I do have one pice of information. The sync problems arise from converting to the wrong frame rate. If you can choose the frame rate for the videos you convert to then you can test different rates and find the right rate. Keep in mind that there is currently no way to determine the approiate frome rate without teting it.

  • Converted video (with NVM) plays only 40 % in rpla...

After converting video (WMV -> mp4) with Nokia video manager, it plays only the first 40% of the video in reaplayer om my nokia E71. Audio continues , but video freezes . Have tried it with 2 videos with different length (1hr:08 and 38 minutes) both stopped at 40% of the video length. ffwd beyond 40% wont work and skips back to a couple of seconds before 40%. Both movies are > 90 Mb
Anyone else having this issue and know a solution ?
    Thanks

This happens a lot with PC Suite's video manager, the best choice is to convert them separately then transfer to the phone. I have been using WINAVI (http://www.winavi.com/) for a couple of years to convert various formats to 3GP and MP4 without any problems. It's not free, but my copy has more than paid for itself over the time I've had it...

  • Converted video with no audio

  • Converting Videos with Videora/PSP Video 9

I am using Videora/PSP Video 9 to convert videos. I have some shows on my laptop that are in 16x9 format. I converted the video and do not remember the setting I picked, but it "squished" the video. When I view the video on my ipod, it is "squished" instead of having hte black bars on top and bottom. It's really annoying. How should I set the settings to prevent this?

Set them to use 16:9 mode:
Open Videora. Click Setup and then the Profiles tab. Click New Profile, and type in a name for it. Say.. 16:9 Mode.
    Then, apply the following settings:
    Mode: H.264 > CBR
    Resolution: 320x240
Bitrate: Either 768 kbps or 1500 kbps. (Higher rate = better quality and bigger file)
    Framerate: Input
    Passes: One
    Keyframe Interval: 250
    Aspect Ratio: 16:9
    Audio Bitrate: 128kbps or 160kbps
    Channels: Stereo
    Sample Rate: Input
Now, click Save Profile. Next time you convert, use your custom profile to convert it in Widescreen format.

  • Converting Video with multiple subtitle channels

    Hi,
I am needing to convert one of our video files. It is currently in an mkv format.
It is easy enough for us to do (as we often have to convert files to various formats), except this one has a subtitle track attached that we wish to export with it so that the final video file has the video along with the subtitle track all in one image.
When others have tried to help, the track will be exported without the subtitle track.

  • Converting Videos with MoviesForMyPod

I downloaded MoviesForMyPod and it can convert all my videos and now they can finnally be transferred to my 5G iPod... But there's no sound!!!!!! What can i do to fix this? Or maybe i should say What can i do to transfer my videos to the iPod without having to use iMovie and WITHOUT HAVING TO BUY QUICKTIME PRO???
    Thanks, Santi.

Michelle is probably correct here. To check, simply open one the movies you want to covert in QT Player and check its format in the "Show Movie Info" option under the "Window" menu. If the format is "MPEG1 muxed" or something to that effect, then this is the problem. While movies in this format usually have .MPG extension, finding with a ".MOV" extension is not uncommon and is probably the reason many people fail to identify their output problem
If you convert a file and end up not hearing any audio, the first thing you should do is open the converted file in QT Player and check its format. If the format is just "MPEG4" or "H.264" with the screen dimensions and does not say there is any "AAC" audio, then you know there is no audio and that your source file was likely a muxed MPEG.
As to MPEG StreamClip, it is a program which simply demuxes the source file and places the audio and video information into a second (or intermediate) file format which MoviesForMyPod can then convert without problem. Any QT compatible format with separate audio and video tracks will work and in this case AVI is fine.

  • Converting video with iTuns - but the sound disappered...

i converted vidoes from my last trip and then the sound was gone... the videos work on the iPod and on the iTunes but with no sound...
    any ideas?

Your source video file is probably muxed.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file with audio. You'll end up with video and no audio.
You'll need to use some other third-party software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
    Try MPEG Streamclip.

  • Convert Video to IPOD - give white screen

    Hi
Been searching the forums but although the problem is noted not solution has been posted that I can find, can anyone help.
I am using iTunes 8.0.2 (20) on a G5 iMAC with OS X 10.5.6. I have a video that plays fine in iTunes and on AppleTV.
KIND: MPEG-4 video file (mp4), Profile: Low Complexity, Channels: Multi, Bit Rate: 223 kbps, Video Dimensions: 720x304, Video Codec: H.264.
When I convert using Advanced->Create iPOD or iPHONE Version it appears to convert the file fine giving the same as above but Channels: Stereo, Video Dimensions: 640x352, Video Codec: H.264
Only on problem .... I get perfect stereo sound but the video just shows a white screen on bith iTunes and the iPOD I try to play them on.
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Regards
    Malcolm

What is the container (i.e. file type) of the original file you are attempting to convert - .avi? .mpg?
Chances are that whatever video codecs used in encoding that particular file may not be installed on your system. Open the original file (through QuickTime Player) and see if you notice the same white screen during playback.
If so, downloading the free Perian suite of codecs (for Mac) prior to converting for iPod should alleviate this issue.
(.mpg files, though, are an entirely different issue... they first need de-muxing of the audio and video streams)
    Hope this helps,
    Steve

  • How can I convert video with srt subtitles?

If I have an avi plus an .srt subtitles file, how can I convert this to play on the iPad?
If, on my iMac, I use Quicktime, I can save the avi as .mov with hard subs.  But when I convert this .mov to mp4, the subtitles disappear.

Why go to all the trouble of converting? Why not just download an app that can play .avi files with subtitle support?

  • Convert video

Hi. i just want to know if there is an aplication to convert ANY kind of video format to another kind of video format.
for example: avi to quicktime, or mpg2 to iphone. etc...etc.... working and converting any video format to any format again.
    please !
    thanks a lot !.

Well, there's probably nothing that will convert ANY format to any other, but there are a number that do a wide array of formats. I would suggest VLC, FfmpegX, and MPlayer (use the SVN version from mplayerhq.hu). All of them do a fine job of conversion between formats, and they are all free and open-source.
QuickTime Pro works very well for the codecs it supports, and you can purchase additional codecs for it (Flip4Mac, for example, provides all the Windows Media Player codecs).
The OSS packages work well, but not perfectly. They offer far more encoding features and options than QT, which is wonderful, except that they permit you to convert video with parameters that aren't supported by a lot of playback software. QT, on the other hand, generally encodes video with parameters that it knows will be widely playable, and has fewer controls (for example, ffmpegX allows you to supply a discrete cosine transform matrix, DCT, for the encoding algorithm for MPEG4, whereas QT does not -- mostly because only a hardcore video hacker would know what it is or why you might want to change it from the default).

  • DVD encoded with PQDVD converter is not full screen on iPod

I have just encoded a DVD with PQDVD iPod converter (www.pqdvd.com), it has an aspect ratio of 2:40:1.
I stretched the movie in pqdvd to 320X240.
Once finished when I watch it on my iPod it isnt full screen with black bars on top and bottom. I have tried the widescreen setting on and off on the iPod but nothing changes.
What have I done wrong? any ideas to make it fit to screen?
Also what is the best bitrate to encode at for movies for watching at iPod and TV viewing?
    thanks

i don't use that program, or DVD's much to be honest.
i know this is a stupid question, but the black bars, are they part of the original video? probably not, but i know i've had it on one of mine once..

  • Flicker showing up in exported videos with various codecs

I am exporting videos using various codecs and all of them are showing a flicker occasionally that is obviously not in the original footage or in the editing footage. The flicker is a brief one-frame looking jump to black. The flicker only seems to occur viewing it on the web. Viewing the same file on my system using "Preview" (Mac OS X) produces the same flicker. However, watching it using the full QuickTime viewer does not show the flicker.
The footage was shot using a DSLR and is from a Pentax K7 and is 1280 x 720, 25 fps.
Edited footage in Premiere CS6 looks fine. I am using export settings for 720p from H.264 for YouTube, Vimeo and straight HD 720p at all three available frame rates (23.976, 25.0 29.97). I have also exported using QuickTime codecs at HD 720p, H.264
Here is a link to two examples of the videos with the flicker probelms. One flick occurs in the first one in several places, the first one right at the beginning as the fade-in is still occurring, but occurs in both videos throughout occasionally.
    http://kb8wfh.zapto.org/wiki/pages/n7a531y/Jamie_Chase_CU__Logo_revision.html
Any idea as to what is causing this and hot to fix it?
    Thanks.

Bad form putting QuickTime's on the web.  This requires unwanted plug-ins to be required for viewing.
    Use MP4 instead.
