Converting visio to pdf, bullet points disappear

I'm having issues converting a MS Visio document into a pdf.  In my document I have text boxes that use the standard bullets in MS Visio.  When I convert the file to pdf using the distiller or the converter icon, the bullets will 'disappear' from the list and enlarge and show up in random locations on the same page.  I'm using MS Visio 2003 and Adobe 7 (This also happens with Adobe 8).  Does anyone have suggestions or seen this issue before?
Thanks!

  • Converting Paragraphs into Bullet Points

Previous to Leopard I was using Microsoft Entourage as my mail client. With the release of Leopard I migrated to Apple Mail. In Entourage you could highlight a series of paragraphs and turn them into bullet points. (I am unsure whether this same feature existed in the Tiger mail application.)
When I tried to perform this same operation in Leopard Mail it didn't work. I was left with one empty bullet point above the text that had been highlighted. When I tried to fill in that empty bullet point by copying and pasting the text I hoped to use for the first bullet point that initial procedure was successful. However, when I attempted to cut and past the text I hoped to use for the second bullet point the first bullet point and its accompanying text disappeared.
That was not a good conclusion to my efforts.
Did Tiger Mail allow you to highlight paragraphs and turn them into bullet points? Is that a capability that has now been lost in Leopard Mail?
Is there any way in Leopard Mail to convert pre-existing paragraphs of text into bullet points?

    Hello there,
The steps Zoooot suggested might also work. Post captivate 5 release we have two releases where we fixed/improved lot of issues related to PPTX import. I would also suggest you to download a trial of Captivate 6 and try the PPTX workflow, and let us know your thoughts regarding your usecase.
    Thanks.

  • Reduced in resolution when converting from Visio to PDF in Visio 2013

I have a .NET application that converts Visio files to PDF using the Document.ExportAsFixedFormat method. This works fine in Visio 2010. However, upon upgrading to Visio 2013, the exact same code is producing PDF with much lower resolution that is unsuitable
for print. I am not sure what is wrong. Is there something I can do to export high resolution PDF with Visio 2013? Thanks!
    The following is my code:
    _app.ActiveDocument.ExportAsFixedFormat(VisFixedFormatTypes.visFixedFormatPDF, // Format
    pdfpath, // Output path
    VisDocExIntent.visDocExIntentPrint, // Output quality
    VisPrintOutRange.visPrintFromTo, // Range
    1, // Start page
    -1, // End page
    false, // Color as black
    true, // Include background
    false, // Include document properties
    false, // Indicate tag structure
    true, // Use ISO 19005-1 (PDF/A).
    System.Reflection.Missing.Value // FixedFormatExtClass

    Hi Eugene
I am using visFixedFormatPDF, visDocExIntentPrint, and visPrintAll, but there is no improvement in the resolution of the PDF.
The Type.Missing value can only be used for the last parameter. The other parameters require either bool or int, so I get compile errors if I try to use Type.Missing.
I also notice the reduction of resolution in Visio 2013 only applies to bitmap images copied into the Visio file. Lines and shapes drawn in Visio still looks fine. I am getting this problem even if I simply select the Save As menu option and select PDF,
so this problem could be independent of office.interop.
Is there something I can do to avoid the degradation of resolution of bitmaps in Visio 2013? Everything is fine in Visio 2010.

The co-worker was receiving the same error in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 before we updated her to AAP 9.1.3.
I have read some other threads similar to mine but none of them answer the question well enough to try anything listed there.  My co-worker can email me the Word file and I can print the file to my Adobe PDF printer just fine.  I have Acrobat Pro 7.0.
Can anyone give me help on the cause and or solution to this problem????

    Hi,
    - syntaxerror indicates the file contains unintelligible PostScript code.
Any discussion of postscript errors, seem to consistently point to:

    Hi Buster,
The error message you were receiving occurs when you try to convert a dynamic PDF file created with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.  This file is usually already a fillable form.  Unfortunately there is no workaround available for converting documents like this within the ExportPDF service.
    I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can be of further assistance.

  • Convert to a PDF/A-2b w/ "Enable Commenting..."

Hi,  I work for an Illustration company & we are trying to understand how to get a certain kind of PDF.
    1)  We use Adobe Illustrator CS5 Version 15.0.2 to create .ai file type illustrations.
    2)  We export the file as a PDF to simplify (make it smaller also) the deliverable for our client.
    3)  We then open the PDF version in Adobe Acrobat 10.0.0 to "Enable Commenting & Measuring..." Our client needs this in case they would like to mark it up in Adobe Reader.
The problem is now our client would like the files to be a PDF/A-1b  type.  It is my understanding that PDF/A-1b can not have "Enable Commenting & Measuring..." So they will let us deliver a PDF/A-2b  & it is my understanding that this version can have "Enable Commenting & Measuring..."  (We would just have to change the preference in Adobe Reader to allow it)
My question is how can I easily get a PDF from Adobe Illustrator CS5 converted to a PDF/A-2b with "Enable Commenting & Measuring..." with out any errors?  If you know how this is done & could show us we would be very grateful.  We could do this through email, phone, Skype, whatever would be easiest for you.
P.S.  If you can not show us, is it possible to point us in the right direction?  Thank you.

Do you have any idea when this will come out?  Plus do you know what I need to do to get a PDF from Illustrator CS5 to a PDF/A-2b?  I have tried many ways but aleays get this dialog.
Then when I look inside Preflight I get this but I do not understand it.
    Any clues?

I did try a few docs I found on the internet, snee.com/xml/xslt/sample.doc.included, and got the same error as OP or
    $ unoconv -f pdf s.doc
    unoconv: UnoException during import phase:
The document 'file:///home/karol/test/sample.doc' could not be opened.
I just run 'pacman -S unoconv' and it wasn't untill I installed libreoffice-writer that it worked.
Opening the doc in lowriter and exporting it to a pdf from the menu works too.

  • Emf images in word document convert badly to pdf using adobe plug-in

I have a problem with converting word documents containing emf images to pdf using the adobe plugin in the MS word ribbon which is provided with Adobe Acrobat XI standard. The text and some of the image formatting in the emf vector image either disappears or moves within the in the resulting output when the document is converted to a pdf. The issue also occurs when I use the "File > save as adobe pdf" option.
    Example image in word:
    Example result after pdf conversion:
I have adjusted many of the settings to try and get the conversion to work.
When I use the print then select the adobe printer  this image pdf's ok. However he Adobe word plug-in is potentially very useful and a time saver because it allows default settings (including security) to be applied time and time again by default ensuring consistency. It is also important for us to be able to use a high quality vector image.
I hope someone can help here!
    Thanks
    Tom

We had the problem last year for my last PhD student and his dissertation. It was an issue with vector graphics, not bitmaps. In his case, the lines on a curve were solid, dotted, and dashed, but all came out as solid. In the printed version it was correct. The only solution we found was to create the file from the plugin and a second file with the printer. Then the second file was inserted in the original with replace pages. This meant that all the markup, bookmarks, and such were retained, but the graphics worked. If you do not need the extra bookmarks and such of the plugin, then just set up the printer to do the security you want. If you always want the security set, set it in the printer properties in the Start>Printers menu of Windows.

  • Power point bullet point numbering

    Hi,
I have just converted a PowerPoint presentation to a captivate course, entering questions etc. throughout.
3 or 4 of the slides have numbered bullet points, and 2 of those slides the number sequence wasn't kept. it just lists each point as 1. (there are six 1.'s rather than 1-6).
In the PowerPoint slide the numbering is 1-6, in the working captivate file (captivate 7) it is 1-6, and in the edit in PowerPoint screen it is 1-6.
In the preview or published versions it is there are 6 bullets all numbered 1.
    Any thoughts?

You cant change the bullet timing easily (at least not in a
    straight forward way)
after importing in Captivate. However those timings already
present in power point slides are honored by Captivate. You need to
ensure you do the following in the powerpoint animations so that it
    appears automatically:
    1. Go to Timing tab
    2. Change the Start to "After previous"
    3. Delay to (say 5 sec)
If you are still not able to do, please send me the sample
ppt file (or some slides) : [email protected]

  • Converting JTable to Pdf document

    hello executives,
    i m new to java.
can u send code that converts JTable into PDF Document.
please mention the packages possible to use and their downloads .
    Regards --------RAM

I cannot give you exact code to do it but I can give to a starting point to go from.
First, if you have a PDF to start from and want to be able to generate certain values onto the form, then you should get a convertor to translate the PDF into a XSL-FO file. From that file you can modify it to suit your needs.
This is the convertor that I used in my project: http://www.oneday.com.au/
I got FOP from here: http://xml.apache.org/fop/download.html
You can surely search google for a good starting place since I am sure what I have said is not a great help at all. Hopefully you received the right tools to get you on your way.

  • How to create bullet points in BoilerPlate 'Text' item...

    Hi,
I have a requirement of generating a form. In that form there is a static section which contains bullet points. Is there a way to create bullet point in oracle reports.
I am using paper layout. As output is required in PDF format.
    Thanks

    Hi Arshad
You may try this trick to introduce bullet character in Reports on Windows platform:
    For Boilerplates:
In Application such as Wordpad, hold Alt and press 0149 on numeric pad. This will insert a bullet mark in the editor. Copy this text and paste it in Reports Paper Layout.
    For Fields:
Create a formula column (Character type) in the same group as the column that you need to bullet. Return the following result:
    return ' ' || :<your_column>;
All the values based on this Formula column will display a Bullet mark.
    Hope this helps.
p.s. character 149 is bullet character in most fonts.
    Regards
