Converting Windows license to Mac...

I have a Windows license for Captivate 4 that I need to convert to Mac?  Any ideas how to make that happen, other than purchasing another full license?

Hello There ,
I am afraid that Captivate 4 is not a supported version and there was no Mac version of Adobe Captivate 4.
Mac version came into picture after Captivate 5 .
Thanks and Regards

That depends. If you bought the disc version, you're good to go, since your serial number works on both platforms, so just install the mac version. If you lost the discs or your mac doesn't have a disc drive, you can download it here:
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10 <https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/photoshop-elements-10-11-downloads.html>
However, if you bought the windows version as a download, you're out of luck. Adobe does do a crossgrade, but for older versions you have to pay to upgrade to current version on the new platform, and that's more expensive than just buying it, if you search around for a good price.

  • Windows License to Mac?

I currently have a Windows License for the Creative Suite 5.5 but am most likely upgrading to a Mac for univesity studies.  Is there any way I can switch my license to a Mac?  If not what are my options if there are any that don't require me having to buy the full suite again for Mac.
    Thanks

You buy a CS6 upgrade and make the switch:
Order an Adobe product platform swap or language swap
Though if you are still a student, it could be considered a moot point - buying an S&T version again would still be cheaper than the comemrcial upgrade...

  • What softwares will convert Windows programs to Mac?

I hear there are some softwares that can convert a windows-based program to Mac. I just got my new 13" Pro last week and I used to be a windows user. I have a copy of Real Flight G6.5 that I got when it came out. For those who don't know what Real Flight is, its a flight simulator to train people to fly basically any model R.C plane. I really enjoy the simulator and I hate the Windows OS. I find it unreliable and slow. The only thing its really good for is gaming. So my question is, does anyone know any decent software that can/will convert a Windows-based program to Mac format and how is the quality? By the way, my 13" Pro is all standard. 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive space, Intel core i5 with 512MB of dedicated video memory.

I know a couple guys who are very good with computers, better than me. One is a hacker about my age and the other is an actual computer technician for my old school and they both know of these types of softwares. Now I would like to run windows on a Mac, its not as good as an actual Windows-based PC. So I will actually build my own gaming desktop. Yes its more expensive but I got a Mac so I could use it as a Mac, not another problem for me and my parents. It will cost about the same as a 13" Pro but it will be able to run games better.
    Thanks though!

  • Converting Windows programs for Mac?

I am considering purchasing a Mac, but have many expensive programs for Windows. I do not want to install Windows on my Mac. Is there a way to convert my Windows-compatible programs for my new mac computer?

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
while it is not possible to simply 'covert' a Windows program so that it runs in Mac OSX, you might wanna have a look at Crossover for Mac http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/ which lets you run certain Windows programs on a Mac without the need to install Windows.
Depending on what Windows programs you use this approach is the 'least invasive way'

  • Convert Windows ipod to mac; Can I go back?

I read the following on Apple's knowledge info.
"You can convert an iPod formatted for Windows into an iPod for Mac by using the iPod for Mac Software Updater on the Apple website. Note that once it is reformatted, it will only work with Macs. You need Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS X 10.1 or later to reformat an iPod for Windows into an iPod for Mac."
Now my question is if I convert a windows ipod to a mac ipod and then can I go back later and convert it from a mac ipod back to a pc ipod?
Has anyone done it successfully? I understand it isn't officially supported.

If I use my daughter's PC (with iTunes & iPod software) to configure the iPod to be formatted to accept the PC data, I need to "reset" the iPod.
You mean to restore the iPod. Restore and reset are quite different operations.
This will erase everything which is no problem as I have all the music on my Mac and can reinstall - or can I?
    Yes, you can.
When resetting the iPod on the PC does that operation make that PC the "master" and cause the iPod to want to be connected to it for updates of songs?
After you restore the iPod on the PC, it makes the PC the master.
Will that cause the iPod to think my Mac is not its "master" computer?
    Yes, it will.
To use an iPod between these 2 computers and allow the iPod to be readable by both the Mac and the PC, you should restore the iPod using the PC and set the iPod to manual update. Check this: Using iPod with multiple computers

  • Convert windows Apps to Mac

I use boot camp to run windows on my MBP but it is slightly inconvenient and more importantly I do not like the OS. I will not go into details as it would take a while. I am aware of parallels but as I said I do not like the OS itself. In addition I like to play games some times and that is not supported in parallels (or at least most are not). I have attempted crossover but it does not run some of my high graphics games. I know that large gaming companies are able to convert windows games to OS X format without completely re-writing the game. I am wondering if this is possible for me to do as well (without spending tons of $). If there is another option like crossover I will go for that as well (as long as it is more compatible with most programs). However, an all out converter is the best thing.
    thanks,
    macguy3000
p.s. I know that this is easy when converting basic c or c++ programs via a mac compiler. I figure that a game could be re-compiled as well just with a much more complex compiler.

Whatever the options are, they're not likely to be something you can do yourself.
In order to recompile an application you're going to need the source code. For obvious reasons, most game companies are very protective of their source code and are not going to release it to you just so you can build your own copy. Even if they did (and assuming they're not some open-source gaming company), they'd likely a) charge a lot for it and b) place significant restrictions on what you can do with the code (e.g. non-disclosure agreements, non-compete/distribution agreements, etc.)
Add to that the fact that high-end games are typically tuned to specific graphics libraries such as DirectX which do not exist on the Mac, so you'd have to rewrite a lot of the graphics code in order to get it to work. That's what the commercial tools such as Cider offer - mostly-autonomous translation of the Windows-specific code into something that will work on the Mac.
Without the source code, the expertise, the tools, and the time, there isn't going to be anything you can do other than run the program in some kind of emulator or virtual machine (Crossover, Parallels, Fusion, etc.).
What you describe isn't a trivial tasks - if it were you'd see far more games being released in Mac-based formats that didn't need the VM engines to operate.

  • Activate second copy of Windows license on Mac?

I bought Adobe Design Premiere CS5 with the Windows package to run on my Windows 7 desktop. I know the license allows you to activate this on two computers I own. Can I use the same serial number to activate my second copy on my MacBookPro in OSX? I presume I can download the trial Mac version and install that on the MBP, will the serial number work?
    Thanks for any clarification!
    Michael

Wow, that's tragic! Thanks for the info Jeffrey. I just reread the EULA and I don't see anywhere in the agreement where you are restricted to installing a Windows license only on another Windows system:
"2.2 General Use. You may install and use one copy of the Software only on the Permitted Number of your
compatible Computers into which you enter a valid serial number."
"2.5 Portable or Home Computer Use. Subject to the important restrictions set forth in Section 2.6, the
primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed under Section 2.2 (“Primary User”) may
install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a
Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Software on the portable or home Computer is not
used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer."
So now I have to find a way to get the second copy I'm entitled to installed on my Mac portable Computer !
    Any suggestions?

  • Converting windows usb to mac

i have a external hd that is configured for windows, can i format it to mac?

    Yep.
    Drive Preparation
    1.  Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list.Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • How to convert Windows mails to Mac mail

Hi - can anyone help me.
One of my colleagues are changing from Windows to Mac - clever guy i Think But now he will bring All he's Windows mails into MacMail. Now he's asking me if that is possible without buying expensive software. Is it better for him to use Entourage - his company have licence to version 2007 i think.
Hope some of you Can help us - thx

From Windows mail export to eml file (it's the default export format), I believe (it's been a long time) you need to select all mail in windows mail prior to export. Transfer the resultant file to your Mac, open Entourage and save the .eml file(s) to your hard drive Now, select one on the Desktop, and go to File -> Get Info. Under "Open With", change the application to Entourage. Click the button to change all. Now try dragging them into the Entourage window or double-clicking them to open them there. Once in Entourage if you want them in Mac Mail just open Mail and select File-> Import Mailboxes, and select Entourage.

  • Converting windows jpg to mac jpg

I have a number of jpgs that I saved on a thumb drive when I was using a Windows machine. Now, I'm exclusively Mac, and my computers won't read these jpgs. Is there a way to get a Mac to open up these files or am I out of luck?

    PuppyDogMom wrote:
They are jpg files. They will open up on a Windows machine but not on my Mac. I double-clicked and preview wouldn't open them up. I've been emailing them to myself which is a pretty tedious process. Can't imagine what's wrong. Thumb drive works fine on the Windows machine.
Get yourself another thumb drive and test with that, or simply turn on file- sharing on the two machines and as long as they are on the same network you can get rid of the thumb drive all together.

  • CS5.5 Windows License for Mac?

    Hey,
I bought CS5.5 for Windows on Nov 26 2011. I have recently bought a new Macbook and so no longer use my windows laptop. Is there any chance that I can use the same Serial Number for a Mac Version?
I want to sell my old PC and don't really want to have to fork out loads of money for new software after the CS5.5 was fine.
    Please help!

You will have to upgrade to CS6 and make the platform switch.
