Converting .wmv,.rm files to play in IPOD

Hello
Is there any way to convert .wmv files or .rm files to enable to play in IPOD 5th generation.
I tried all possibilities to convert using the latest version on Itune, but it couldnt be loaded into the Itune nor in IPOD
Pls throw some light on this issue
Thanks
Danny

Just burn all the songs you want in iTunes on a CD as if you wanted to bring it in a car or something. Just click "burn" in Windows Media Player or Real. So, then you'll have just a regular audio CD like any other you may have burnt. iTunes will treat it as just a regular CD and allow you to import all the songs.
If you don't have much experience burning CDs, I can explain that in more detail, but continue to post.

  • Converting MOD files to play on iPod?

I'm not sure what programs I can use to convert .mod movie files to play on my iPod. Is iTunes capable of doing .mod files? I've also had a history of trying to convert other files using iTunes and not getting the files to transfer to the iPod properly, although I will try again if iTunes will convert the file.
    Windows XP Pro

I have never been able to get Handbrake to recognize many file formats, at least not the version that runs on Tiger.
MPEGStreamclip; you need to export the file. I don't have an ipod so I don't know what format.
My feeling is that you might get more concrete assistance if you asked this on an ipod forum. At least there everybody will likely own one. On the other hand they may therefore also be able to afford the newest computers and tell you to run something on a newer OS.

  • Problem converting .mov file to play on ipod

I have a 880x660 pixel .mov file that I would like to convert to play on my nano 3rd gen. When I open the file in Quicktime Pro 7.4.1 (registered) all the edit menu items (save, save as, share, export...) are grayed out. How can I convert this file to play on my ipod?

Compressor 3 and later will create MPEG-2 Program Stream files.

  • Converting PC DVD files to play on a Mac

I'm a new mac user and not terribly computer savvy. Had a friend who made a dvd a couple years ago (on a pc) that plays just fine in iMovie. But when I downloaded the files (they copied to my Mac just fine) so I could return the DVD to him, I cannot get the files to play by themselves. They are .VOB, .BUP, .IFO, .mpg files (and a couple others) and I am not allowed the option of using the iMovie or iDVD applications to play them. Quick Time won't play them either.
Is there any program I can download to convert these files? Do I need the DVD again and do something different this time when I copy and save these files? I have no idea what to do. Any help is appreciated.

Are the files still in the VIDEO_TS folder or are you simply trying to open the VOB file in the Apple DVD player? Have you tried playing the non-zero VOB title sets in an application like VLC (or MPEG Streamclip if you have the MPEG-2 Playback component)?
Quick Time won't play them either.
QT will only play the video content of VOB files if you have the QT MPEG-2 Playback component ($20) installed and is not normally compatible with DVD multiplexed audio.
Is there any program I can download to convert these files?
iSquint (free), MPEG Streamclip (free but requires $20 QT MPEG-2 Component Installed), FFmpegX (donation-ware), Visual Hub (pay-ware), MPEG2 Works (pay-ware but requires MPEG-2 component), etc.
Do I need the DVD again and do something different this time when I copy and save these files?
Depends on the application you are trying to use. Essentially, all the multiplexed audio and video data is stored in the VOB title sets.

This would only be the case if you changed something and then hit "Save".
Can i somehow convert back the song to play in GB08?
    Unfortunately, that's not possible.

  • Converting WMV to MP4 for use on iPod Classic

I have 4 videos that are WMV files. Is there a way to convert them to be able to play them on my iPod? I'm using Mac OX 10, and I have an iPod classic. I've tried using iSquint but that doesn't work. Done a little searching on here too, but haven't seen much.

  • Convert WMV to a video format for iPod?

    Hello,
I have a WMV recording of a Microsoft Live Meeting event. It is 1.5 hours in length, about 31MB and 4 fps. I need to convert it to a video format that can be played on a video iPod. When I try to export as MP4 from Premiere Pro CS4, the file size really balloons. What settings can I use to keep the file size similar to that of the WMV?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You could try using the Apple iPod Video Small preset in AME under H.264 format after customizing the Target Bitrate and Maximum Bitrate. Try reducing these bitrate values. You could use the Estimated File Size that shows up at the bottom of the AME Settings UI as a rough guide to the final file size.To change the bitrate values, first launch AME Settings UI by clicking on the Settings button in AME batch after selecting the batch item.
    Hope this helps. Thanks.

  • Convert WMV and MPG to play on Mac

    Hi all,
New to the Mac so probably a simple question.
I have two videos on my Mac that came across from my old PC. One is in WMV format, the other is MPG. Neither are able to be played.
The WMV file shows as a blank page icon while the MPG file shows as a MPG icon. When I try to open either a message appears saying that the file is not a movie file. If I go into the info page for either they show as being a full size file, both being about 100MB in size.
These files work fine on the PC using Windows Media Player.
I have tried downloading Flip4Mac but the files still wont open. The Mac just doesnt seem to recognise that they are video files.
Is there any way that I can get these files to work?
    Cheers

    Thanks for the replies.
All I want at the moment is to play these two files, though I would like to combine them into a movie at some stage.
I dont want to have to buy a program to convert these files as they are the only two that dont work on my Mac, everything else seems to work fine.
flip4mac is in my applications folder, in fact its on my dock as well. When I open the icon (called WMV on the dock) it opens Quicktime Player but it still wont recognise these two files. I keep getting a message saying that they arent movie files.
Ill try downloading VLC to see if that will work.
    Any other ideas?
    Cheers
edit: I downloaded VLC and it plays both videos! Thanks a lot for the advice. Now I just have to figure out how to get them working in iMovie.

  • How to convert real media files to quicktime for iPod

I want to know how to convert a real media file into a format that is recognizable by my iPod. Do I need to convert it into a Quicktime movie? And if I already have quick time movies on my computer, will they play on my iPod without any need of conversion?
    Thanks

MP4 is the format you need. You will need a third party program to convert it for viewing on your ipod. See this link
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=123067
There are many freeware programs out there for convertering. Beware of people that will direct you to a site where you have to pay for the program. There are many Spammers on this forum that will try to have you buy a particular program. Do a search for free conversion programs and you will find many.

  • Latest on how to convert my FCP timeline to play on iPod

I've been doing some searching, and I've found info on how to convert my movie in FCP to play on an iPod, but everything seems to be dated to 2006.
What is the latest way to convert my final movies to be able to play on an iPod? What size does it need to be and what compression settings?
BTW, I'm using FCP 4.0 on a Mac G5. My movie is 1 hour and 17 minutes long (so should it take 13 hours to convert?) I'm using the instructions from the following link to do this:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/video_to_ipodstone.html
Is it still relevant to today's iPods? Should my movie be 640x480 or 320x240?
    Thanks!

Export as a self contained, or even reference QUicktime Movie. Seeing that you are on FCP 4, you do not have the handy Compressor that has iPod settings. BUT, look at the Elgato Turbo.264 encoder. USB hardware encoding ENHANCING device that has presets for iPod and iPhone.
Might be slow on the G4, but the sucker screams on my MacPro. Best $80 I have spent in a while.

  • Problem converting WMV movie file to format Adobe After Effects can read...

    Need HELP...
Trying to convert a windows WMV movie clip so that Adobe After Effects can read, as the Mac OSX version of After Effects does not like WMV.
    Any help appreciated.
    Max

i'm with the Captain's answer, Flip4Mac's Windows Media Components will allow you to work with the files directly in AE or other QT compliant application
but whilst the free player version will allow you to view the files, you'll need to pony up for at least the Player Pro version if you intend to transcode to another format (otherwise the copy will have a Flip4Mac watermark)

  • Convert DVD (VTS files) to play on N97 using MPEG ...

I have used settings such as:
mpg4, 800kbps, 640x360, aac audio @ 128kbps. The most ive got on the n97 is audio playing with strange long streakey lines as the video.
Mpeg streamclip is a free download. Please can anyone help? Also, is there another way to compress VTS files to use on n97. Using Quicktime pro, i can set the 'Baseline profile' in mp4 settings, which i believe makes a difference so maybe i should export as mpg2 in streamclip, and export in QTP

    I am a MAC* user with a Nokia n97 - oh dear
*Mac is short for Macintosh, a computer made by a company called Apple.

I'm not familar with VTS files or Streamclip so it's difficult to know what could be the problem.
MPEG-4 files should be fairly compatible, the problem is if you use AVC (H264) codecs then it doesn't work.
There are a number of video converters for Mac.
Some more details about the converted file would help.
    Like:Container type
    Framerate
    Codec level
    etc.
Also is the source interleaved or progressive and how are you setting the conversion.
640K Should be enough for everybody
