Converting Word 2007 docs into Adobe Reader

Anyone having issues converting Word figures into Adobe Reader 9? Once converted into Adobe Reader the object disappears.  All other pictures/figures appear with no problem.

I will assume that you are using the Print function of Word to produce PDFs of Word files. Even then, I fail to understand what do you mean by "converting Word figures" that "disappear" after conversion, while "all other pictures/figures appear with no problem". Are you trying to say that, when convereting to PDFs one (or more) Word documents containing more than one image, one or more of these are not to be found in the PDF file? If so, I would suspect a problem with that/those image(s).

Problem converting Word 2007 DOC to PDF 9
I have a Word 2007 DOC (not docx) file with pictures and text which converted perfectly with Distiller 8. I installed CS4 Distiller 9, and now the same DOC file flows over onto several extra pages. I am using the default settings. Any idea what has changed. Thanks in advance.

First, select the Adobe PDF printer in WORD. Then go through the document to check for the flow of the document. It should print the same as you see in the document after the printer has been selected.

  • Multiple Word 2007 docs into one PDF version 6

    Hello to everyone,
I am a newbie to this.  I did check some of the most recent posts but didn't find anything that fit my issue.  I have an end-user here that is running Office 2007 SP2 and running Adobe Acrobat V6.  He used to be able to select multiple word documents and make them into one pdf by right clicking on them and selecting that process.  After we upgraded him to Word 2007 it stopped working.  He is still able to select multiple word documents and right click to add them to one PDF but what comes up in word is garbled and nothing else seems to happen ( the process tends to halt and do nothing).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Susie

For the software combination the person now has, PDFs can only be created by opening the application and using the Print function to print to the Adobe PDF printer. In the past you were depending on PDF Maker interacting with WORD to create the PDF when opening in Acrobat. With the upgrade to WORD 2007, your current PDF Maker will not work and thus you can only print.
If your creation process is critical, you have no choice but to upgrade to AA9 to obtain the compatibility for OFFICE 2007. OFFICE 2003 did not even exist at the time AA6 was released as I recall. Your office updates have made other software imcompatible - a MS issue if you wish.

  • Converting Word 2003 doc to Adobe pdf loses some text

Please help!  I have printed up two sets of reports for a total of 123 pdfs.  I have just now discovered that
two lines of text at the top of a page were not printed when converting the Word 2003 doc to the Adobe 9 pro pdf using batch sequences.  Examining the fonts in the Word doc before printing showns them to be no different than text printed before or after.  If not converting the entire doc, just printing the one problem page using file/print, it prints the missing text.
I'm using the same conversion settings, have unchecked 'rely on system fonts only.'
I'm attaching a page where the two lines are missing ('badpage'), and the page where the two are printed ('page3').
Can anyone shed some light on this?  I will have to try to fix this by using another batch sequence to delete the faulty page and insert the correct page, but I would like to know how to fix the problem for the next time.
    Thank you.

It appears that you printed to the Adobe PDF printer from WORD.
You might find the problem resolved if you updated from AA9.0.0, though you may have and that is just the Distiller version. The early versions typically have problems. If you update, be sure to install the updates in order and do not try to skip over updates unless an update specifically says cummulative.
Apparently the two processes you use are different (as asked by the other post) and that is likely the issue. However, the one with the missing lines has all fonts embedded. The other one does not, and also uses additional fonts. It appears that one process may be using PDF Maker, though normally that would be indicated in the metadata and is not indicated as such. So, giving us more information about the process that you selected for creating the PDF in both cases may give us the info we need to help.

  • Convert Word 2007 doc to PDF, numbered bookmarks lose numbering

I've never had trouble converting a Word 2007 document to PDF before. All the bookmarks I selected converted nicely and retained their numbering. Recently my IT department upgraded me to Acrobat Pro X and I'm having several bookmark issues.
    1. Some of the bookmarks I select in the Acrobat ribbon --> Preferences --> Bookmarks are not converted and I have to manually create them in the PDF.
    2. None of the bookmarks retain Word numbering. I have Word 2007 Headings numbered in the document, but in the PDF, none of the bookmarks are numbered. This is a major pain to edit each bookmark to add the proper heading numbers (1, 1.1, 1.2, 2, 2.1, etc.).
Are these known issues and are defect corrections in the works? Is anyone else having these problems?

I'm having the same problem. As you can see, the number appears in the heading, which came from MS Word, but not in the bookmark.

  • Cannot save Word 2003 doc in Adobe Reader 8.0

I did my resume' in a Misrosoft 2003 Word template and there I cannot save it in Adobe Reader 8.0. Please help!  : ) Thank you

Well, you'll need something other than Adobe Reader to make a PDF. CHeck online for some free tools if you don't want to plop down some cash.

  • Converting Word 2007 Styles to PDF

I just upgraded to word 2007. I don't have the PDF Maker for word installed (where you see the Acrobat option on the toolbar in word), and not sure it will install with 2007. So the first question is: Does it? Second question. If you can install PDF Maker with Word 2007, How do you go about doing it? Reinstall Acrobat? (note: I have acrobat 8 professional) And finally the third question is: if PDF Maker can't be installed to work with Word 2007, how do you automatically convert word 2007 Styles into PDF bookmarks. I'd rather not have to recreate them all after creating the PDF.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rob

Aha! That was the missing piece. After the 8.1.2 update, I now see the Acrobat toolbar in word. All set! I was freaking out when I didn't see the toolbar, but did see the acrobat macro in word. Phew.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Equations in Word 2007 turns into horizontal lines

This is something that has come up a lot lately. Documents written in Word 2007 which contains graphics such as equations get messed up when converting the documents to PDF. Instead of the equations, we only get horizontal lines.
I've found several things that affect this behaviour:
    - It only happens in Windows XP
    - Word 2007, haven't tried 2010 yet
    - Acrobat 9.0 and Acrobat X
It doesn't happen when printing to PDF, only via the Acrobat ribbon and via Save as Adobe PDF.
I thought Acrobat X fixed this but it doesn't. Just upgraded. Any light on this?

I have this problem, too. I am running Win XP, Office 2007, and Acrobat Pro 9.something.
There is a detailed discussion of this here:
    http://acrobatusers.com/forum/pdf-creation/problem-converting-word-2007-equations
They think it's a bug in a Microsoft patch. They offer a coupole of workarounds including printing to a PDF printer and saving the document as .doc.

  • Conversion of Word 2007 Docs to PDF

I am using Word 2007 & Acrobat 9 Pro.  I am attempting to convert a chinese document into a PDF file within Word 2007.  After conversion,  many of the chinese characters are missing and replaced with an empty box.  Why?  What can I do to correct this.  Printing to Adobe captures all of the chinese characters but does not capture the bottom border.  HELP!!!!

    Bill Thanks...
The issued turned out that doing formatting and inserting pictures in the Word 2007 document,  that the font changed from Sim Sun (Asian) to Times New Roman.  However, the screen did not look any different and I did not notice the change.  (Microsoft, please explain this phenomonem!!)Changing the font back to the Sim Sun that was already installed in Word 2007 solved the problem.

  • Google Docs offline / Adobe Reader

I'm looking for a way to read PDF files in Galaxy Nexus. I've installed Google Docs and Adobe Reader. Google Docs allows offline caching; but I'm not sure where it saves the file in the device. When I connect it to a computer, the folder tree doesn't show any special folder for documents. Same goes for Adobe Reader. Can anyone help me here? I just want to copy some pdf files from my computer to the GN so that I can read them on the device.
Secondly, is there any app for taking notes? Spare evernote etc. Something local, no online sync required.
    Thanks.

  • Hyperlinks missing after converting Word 03 docs to PDF using Acrobat Pro 9.

I'm having an issue when I convert a Word 2003 doc using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 to pdf that the hyperlinks are disappearing.  I've had success with this in the past but for some reason now the hyperlinks never carry over or show up in the pdf.  I also have a good amount of bookmarks making up a table of contents within my word doc that aren't making the conversion either.
I've spent a few hours thumbing through options in both the pdf printer and word as well as searching online with no luck.
    Kind regards,
    Tim

Alright, I've got link creation process working again.
However, now I have another technical issue with how the links are being handled.
My work has an Intranet site that these Polices and Procedures are being accessed from (http://is-intranet/policiesandprocedures/).  For some reason when you open one of these forms on our Intranet site and click one of the embedded links (that are linking to another one of the Policy and Procedure PDFs) it's adding extra text to the path. i.e. open 2.01 Employee Handbook when I click a link embedded in that form to http://is-intranet/policiesandprocedures/3.01 Technology Usage Policy it's adding an extra is-intranet to the beginning of the path http://is-intranet/is-intranet/policiesandprocedures/3.01 Technology Usage Policy causing it to not open.
I cannot seem to prevent this from happening.  Now, if I go through the form and look at the link it's correct and if re-link it to the other form everything works fine and the path of the link in the PDF doesn't change.  But now the link works correctly when opening the forms from our Intranet Site.
    It's a very confusing issue.

  • Acrobat X 10.02 crashes when converting Word 2007 document wiht linked Visio file.

Acrobat X 10.02 crashes when converting Word 2007 document with linked Visio file and causes a C++ runtime error in Word and crashes Word.
To see the behavior create a short Word 2007 document with a linked Visio file (e.g., create a Visio file with one box and text and insert it as a link into a Word docx).
    No problem in Acrobat 9

There may be some of an issue with AA X on this, but part of the blame probably goes to MS also. I would suggest you simply clip the graphic from VISIO as a vector graphic (EMF will be used by default) and not do the link and do not embed the VISIO object. The linking and use of embedded objects in WORD 2007 seems to have been a major problem and is mostly a MS issue.

  • Word 2007 doc to PDF missing bookmark numbers

    Hi,
I am using Acrobat 9 Pro to convert a Word 2007 doc to PDF. The doc converts fine and I get the bookmarks.
The problem though is that the generated bookmarks are missing their numbers.
    For example:
In Word 2007, it will look like:
    1 Overview
    1.1 Introduction
In Acrobat 9 Pro generated PDF, it looks like:
    Overview
    Introduction
I looked through the forums and other people have posted similar questions but no resolution was seen.
    Can somebody please help out?
I talked to Adobe tech support and they were no help.
    Thanks

    Hi all,
Here is an update to this issue.
First of all I agree with Nick that this *is* an Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro issue. (Possibly even with older versions).
Anyway below are the steps I followed to get this to work. It is quite a round about way but I'm happy I got it to work.
    * Generate the PDF as usual from Word 2007. (Maybe you don't need to generate the bookmarks here because we are going to delete them later anyway).
    * Open the newly generated PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro
    * Click on the Bookmarks tab---if you have the Word 2007 generated bookmarks here select them all (Ctrl-A) and delete them :(
    * Then click on the "Gears" icon in the Bookmarks tab.
    * In the drop down menu select the "New Bookmarks from Structure..."
    * Highlight the structures you wish to have for your bookmarks. For example I chose H1, H2, H3 assuming those were Heading1, ...
    * Click OK
    * The newly generated bookmarks contain section numbers
    * Unfortunately this shows up within a bookmark called "Untitled" So I again select all (Ctrl-A)
    * Unselect "untitled" and move (drag) everything else to one level above "Untitled"
    * Then I delete "Untitled".
Unfortunately this new bookmark is a flat structure---i.e. you cannot collapse it.
Oh well! At least it works.
If any of you can come up with a better solution, please post it here :)
    Thanks
