Converting Word doc to a pdf

I'm using a government regulated Word document and I need to convert it to a pdf, but when I do, half the page does't show up. What could be the reason and how can I fix it? I'm using MS Office 2010 and Acrobat Pro XI

Yes, I have. That's the best outcome, but still some info doesn't convert.
Thank you for the reply!

Is it possible to convert a Word 2003 doc into a writable
PDF? I'm not very tech savvy and have tried everything I can think
    of. Please help!

    Hello BC1203,
You can certainly do this via
    Acrobat.com.
Upload your word document to SHARE (2nd last item to the
    right, light blue) on
    Acrobat.com. Once it is uploaded,
click on the "Create PDF" tab at the top of your screen. Under
"Choose a file to convert to Adobe PDF" select the "From
Acrobat.com" option. Drag your file from SHARE into the designated
box, then click "Create PDF". The PDF version of the document will
appear in SHARE, and you can instantly e-mail it to anybody, or
download it back to your computer.

  • Convert multiple files (word docs) to multiple pdf

    Hi,
Is there a script I can use in batch processing to convert about 1500 word documents into pdf? I know it's possible to convert multiple files into one pdf, but this is no good to me. Doing these conversions one by one is going to take forever!
I've tried selecting a few documents at a time and then selecting "convert to pdf" from the right-click menu, but each one requires that you tell it where to save, and then opens the file when it is done.
I need to convert Word files on a regular basis for work, and could really use a batch process for this with so many to do!
I have Acrobat 7 Pro (version 7.1.0) on XP Pro SP 2 at work, and Acrobat 8 Pro (Version 8.1.2) on XP Pro SP 3 at home.
If there is anyway it's possible to do this via a batch process I would really appreciate knowing how!!
Apologies if this has been covered in another thread, I searched but couldn't find anything.
    Thanks in advance :)

I have Acrobat 9 Pro. I can batch convert Word docs to PDFs by doing this:
    1. Open Acrobat Pro. Click File > Create PDF > Batch Create Multiple Files...
    2. A window will open prompting you to add files. Click Add Files > Add Files... OR Add Folders... If adding a folder, navigate to it, and click OK to add it to the list. You can also select a bunch of files and drag & drop them into the Add Files window.
    3. Once you have all the files listed that you want to convert, click OK. A new window called Output Options will open. In this window, select your preferred settings. For me, I want all the new PDFs to have the same filename and be in the same folder as the Word docs, so I choose these settings:
    4. Click OK, and then the batch process will begin running. You will see Word opening and closing. However, you won't have to click Save or anything. You can run it unattended. The process takes a little while, so I usually set up a batch to run, then go to lunch. Once finished, you should have all your new PDFs:
    Hope that helps someone!

@Pipeline2007 - which version of Microsoft Office have you got? Older versions of Acrobat aren't compatible with the latest versions of Office, see this link for info:

  • Why when I am converting a word doc into a PDF are some of the pages moving around. It appears to be

Why when I am converting a 50 page word doc into a PDF using Acrobat XI Pro the pages are moving around.
It appears to be happening in the places where the previous page is not a complete full page, just a half page.
It is moving these pages up into the previous half page, but it is only moving them several lines into that page
Which has totally distored my e-book.
It is attaching all my pattern sheets at the very end of the file okay, etc.

Also, to be more sure you get in the PDF what you are seeing in WORD, go to the print menu and select the Adobe PDF printer, then go back to editing. The is a feature of almost all word processors to reflow the document for best results with the attached printer. It is also one of the problems of using WORD forms that such form designers miss. If you don't like the reflow, many the Adobe PDF printer your default and always print to Acrobat. If you want it to go to a printer, then print from Acrobat to that printer and it should remain intact. The other way to avoid the reflow is to use a layout program like Publisher or InDesign.

Hit command tab and swtich to the Finder, under the Apple menu is Force Quit, do that to the program that is causing your "hang" and restart the program and what you were doing.
If you didn't save your file beforehand, then your going to have to make it again.

  • Convert MS Word (.doc) document to pdf document

    Hi All,
My requirement is that I need to convert MS Word (.doc) document to pdf document.
Is there any standard SAP function module.
    Pls guide me.
    Rishi

I dont understand why you want to use SAP to convert word file to PDF file.
    1. Search in google
    2. www.win2pdf.com - this may be useful
Still if you want to use SAP to do that then follow the below procedure.
       1. Upload the data from word to internal table using the function module : GUI_UPLOAD.
       2. Use spool :
                  1) RSPO_OPEN_SPOOLREQUEST - Open spool request
                  2) RSPO_WRITE_SPOOLREQUEST - Write to spool request
                  3) RSPO_CLOSE_SPOOLREQUEST - Close spool request
       3. use the function module CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF to convert spool in to PDF format.

how to edit a converted Word Document from a PDF file

    Hi Edit Converted Word Doc,
What's happening when you try to edit the file? Have you tried triple-clicking in the text block that you want to edit?
Please let us know what sort of trouble you're running into. It would also be helpful to know how the PDF file was created, and what version of Word you're using.

  • Error converting Word 07 files to pdf in Vista

    Hi
I'm running Vista, Word 07, Acrobat 8.1.2. I don't use acrobat a lot in converting files, last time it was a few months ago.
I wanted to convert a doc file to pdf but always get this error:
Adobe could not open the the file because it is unsupported etc etc.
I tried with docx still the same. but other non office files are ok e.g. jpg, txt, html etc. but not office files, ppt/doc/rtf/docx etc.
When I try to print to pdf in word, word just freezes & is unresponsive, need to close it. At the bottom of word, it says converting page 1 etc. not stuck.
I don't really know what to do. Have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, checked this forum for solutions but still the same. Even tried upgrading but still no avail!
    Please help.
    Thanks

I don't have a printer at home. So can't test if I can print through a physical printer.
it's kinda strange because it just affects ms office docs/ppt etc. others seem just fine apart from notepad as well. but right clicking say on a jpeg/txt file & convert to pdf is fine.

    Not with the ExportPDF service.
You can convert Word documents to PDF with our CreatePDF service or with our desktop application, Adobe Acrobat.

Cannot embed pdfs in Word doc which are PDF Version 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x) [This is associated with Adobe Reader 9]. Getting 'program not installed' error.
Pdfs with other versions are okay:
Tested successfully with Adobe Pro 9 (Version 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)), Reader X (Version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x)) and XI (Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x))
Also cannot open embedded pdfs which have been embedded with this version (getting a similar error).
Importantly I have removed/disabled all security options in Adobe Reader, following numerous internet suggestions from Adobe and elsewhere. This does not fix the problem.
Currently the work around is to re-save the pdf with something other than Adobe Reader 9 (so the version updates), but we would prefer not to do this for all the old pdfs we have.
    Thank you,
    Louise.

Could you please email me the document on which you are seeing this issue at [email protected] ?
Please mention the forum thread link as well in the mail for the reference.

  • Link to a Word doc in a PDF is not opening the doc in Internet Exlorer 8

I have a PDF created in Acrobat 9 Pro, I have given a link to a word doc. The PDF and link is working perfectly on browsers other than Internet Explorer 8.
In IE-8 Even if allow to open the doc when prompted, nothing happens.
    How can I fix this?

Dropbox has a convenient feature to preview DOC files as PDFs in Firefox's built-in PDF viewer. It's convenient but can lead to this problem that you end up downloading the document as a PDF instead of a DOC file.
As long as the recipient uses the Download button on Dropbox's toolbar above the viewer (see attached screen shot comparison), the recipient should get the original format instead of the preview.
    Is that the issue?

  • Converting Word 2007 files to PDF

    Hi,
When I convert Word 2007 file to PDF via Acrobat Pro. 9, The Section Titles show on the bookmark area are as usual, but the Section number for the titles are disappear. For Example: the title set as "1.1 Test", the bookmark shows only "Test" and the "1.1" is disappeared. (the title assigned as style heading 3 and the section number is generated by multi-level list).
I have been converting Word 2003 file via Acrobat Pro. 7 and Word 2007 file Via Acrobat 8.1, they are all fine.
I tried to change settings on PDFmaker for Acorbat Pro 9 and failed. I also checked through the manual and found nothing. Can anyone tell me how to have both the section number and title show on the Bookmark section of PDF file with my present MS Word 2007 setting (the title assigned as style heading 3 and the section number is generated by multi-level list)?
    Thanks,
    Jeffrey

    Steve, Samnol,
Thanks for your advice and sorry for the late reponse because I tried to re-install Acrobat 8 and 9 and see if anything changed.
The good news I got from this weekend is that the problem regarding the "Missing of section numbers in the Bookmark when I converted the Word 2007 to PDF" has been resolved after I update the patch published on 01 March 2009.  I will keep running Rev 9 on trail basis and work out the recommendation to the company.  I am glad that I can get rid of the old Office 2003 and Acrobat 7 for the time being.  It has been a heck for me to run dual Office system.
    Thanks again for the advise.
    Jeffrey
