Converting word to pdf with acrobat 9/distiller can not retain hyperlinks to web docs

Have tried going to settings in Acrobat only  see option to retain book marks
.  Online help indicates there is setting for RTF which would retain hyperlinks.  This is supposed to be
in the settings extras folders but is not.  I am running Office 2000.

MS Office compatibility for Acrobat 9's PDFMaker starts with Office XP (Office 2002/Office 10).

How do I correct the error: Adobe Acrobat 9 distiller can not find its standard ICC profiles. Please reinstall adobe acrobat to correct this problem?
I have tried all the suggestion in the forums. But I keep getting the error. I reinstalled AA9 Pro and downloaded the updates. But I keep getting the error.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7.

You have permissions issues on the respective folders, e.g. Windows\System32\Color and so on. Fix them and allow all apps to access the contents.

  • Bulk convert text to PDF with Acrobat

Hi. When I convert a text file to PDF with Acrobat X Pro the character spacing in the resulting file is incorrect.  The columns of numbers which do correctly line up in the text file, do not line up correctly in the PDF file.  I adjust the settings for the conversion in the CREATE PDF FROM WEB PAGE box and I choose a fixed-width font.   If I use Adobe PDF Converter (the printer driver) the result is perfect.  If I open the text file with Microsoft Word and then convert it to PDF with PDFMaker, it is also perfect. I want to use Acrobat so that I can bulk convert my 300 text files to PDF.   Can you please help as I have tried everything?  Thank you.  Paul Pontikis (Deakin University)

Thank you for responding LoriAUC.  I have 300 (*.txt) files that I only ever open with Notepad. I don't every open them in a web browser.  I want to bulk convert them to PDF.  The orientation of the resulting PDFs must be landscape.  It appears that the only way to select LANDSCAPE in Acrobat is to adjust the settings in the CREATE PDF FROM WEB PAGE box.  It seems that Acrobat uses its HTML Conversion Engine to convert text files to PDF.  When I do this and then bulk convert them using Bulk Convert Files to PDF, the orientation is correct, that is, landscape instead of the default portrait setting, however the character spacing is imprecise and the columns of data are wavy.

  • Link problem when converting MS Word to PDF with Acrobat Professional

    Hello all,
    I have the following problem:
When I have a MS Word document with links to other files inside and I convert it to PDF the links are converted from relative paths to absolute paths.
The problem is created by Acrobat as the links in the MS Word file are relative (I have checked this by moving the different docs to another directory and confirmed that the links still work after the move).
How can I make the paths in the PDF relative again? I know there is a plugin from Evermap (and I can confirm this works) but I do not want to use this plugin (=read: spend another $190 dollars) as the license for the Acrobat Professional is expensive enough . Is there a way I can convert the paths within Adobe Acrobat easily? Or better: can I adjust the settings in Acrobat to a new standard when all converted documents contain relative paths?
    Backgroundinfo:
    - Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional
    - Windows XP (SP2)
    - MS Word 2002
    Thanks in advance!
    Bart

    Dear Steve,
I have tried what u suggested: I put all the documents (word + linked documents) into the same folder on the local-drive (C). Then I recreated the links  in the word document to be sure they were matching. After that I converted the word document to an PDF and confirmed the links were still working in the PDF document.
Then the biggest challenge: copying the pdf and linked documents to another drive&directory. As you can guess: Unfortunately the links did not work anymore.
    Any other suggestions?
If I use the Evermap-tool (30 day-trial) I can look at the links and this is how it is 'coded' in the pdf.
    first link: ../../../../test/link_a.pdf
    second link: ../../../../test/link_b.pdf
and yes this will work if you put the documents in the directory test in the root of the local-drive but not in a different subdirectory.
    Anyone ideas?
    Grtz,
    Bart

  • Issues converting .pmd to .pdf with Acrobat 9 Pro

I have tried numerous ways to convert a .pmd file to a .pdf using the Acrobat 9 Pro with no luck.  I do not have PageMaker on my computer.  Any recommendations?

It has been awhile since Adobe "retired" PageMaker.
It is no longer an Adobe supported application; so Acrobat 9 PDFMaker does not have it listed as a supported application/file format.
The migration path was to InDesign.
As with any application that can be sent to a "printer" via File > Print
If PageMaker is installed, its file can be sent to Adobe Printer for processing by Distiller.
    But, again, no PDFMaker.

  • Havig problems converting JPG to PDF with Acrobat Prof 7

I am using Acrobat professional 7. I am trying to convert JPG files to PDF. I have done this in the past without problems and now I am getting a message of "unrecoverable error". What can I do? I have tried doing this with one file and with multiple files and still get the same problem.

    What I do is:
    File
    Create PDF
    from Multiple files
    Browse
    (select file)
    add
    OK
Then after I do all of that I get the message "unrecoverable error"
I have created over the past year thousands of JPG files to PDF without problems. I can't seem to create a PDF from these JPG files today. I have tried using just one file and also several files and get the same message each time.

  • Missing words creating PDF with Acrobat 7 (newly installed InDesign CS5)

Since a few days I have some curiosity creating PDF files!
Randomly the PDF output is missing whole words in the document but having spares in the right tracking for them in the document.
It occurs that the missing words are subject to another font however not all words in this font are missing in the document.
Also my printer tell's me if he's going to print the PDF (in this case a serial letter with pre-stamped addresses) his computer is breaking down completely and also printing hieroglyphs.
This document was printed from MS Word 2003 with "Adobe PDF" as printer.
I also use FreePDFXP, though the same error comes up.
In addition I tried several settings for the PDF with no effect in the outcome.
I am still working with Acrobat 7 (from CS2 suite) under WinXP Professional SP3 and hadn't any problems before installing my InDesign CS5 upgrade a few days ago.
I only can assume that the problem is InDesign CS5 but cannot prove it.
Anyone an idea on how to solve the problem?!
I am really annoyed about this since for the pre-stamped letters I already paid money to the mail service and the need to be in the mail today - otherwise I am loosing several 100 Euros to the paper-bin).

    Thanks for your feedback.
However I checked all the settings in the joboptions. All fonts are to be embedded (100%) and I also actively selected the fonts to be transferred.
I am using TheSans from LucasFonts as Open Type.
For my document I have SemiLight as standard style and Bold for accentuation.
While the bold style will be printed in "bold only" lines, it is not printed in lines/paragraphs where also the SemiLight style is used.
When I change color of the words in bold, the effect inverts and only the bold style words are displayed but not the SemiLight text!
I have a second laptop with the same system and software configuration (Win XP Professional SP3; Acrobat 7), where the same document runs smoothly.
That's why I assume, that it must be the Indesign CS5 upgrade causing trouble (it's the only new addition to the first laptop).
Unfortunately Adobe has no answer here also.
The only solution would be to adopt my documents for this effect and follow the logic of the machine instead of my mind...
As we do so often since invention of computers...

  • Convert Word to PDF with a Digital ID?

    Hi,
I am looking for a solution to automate the process of adding Digital ID's to PDF's. Whenever I create a PDF from a Word Document with the Adobe PDF converter plug-in for Word I want it to add a Digital ID (certificate security) to that particular PDF. But as far as I can tell it is only possible to add password security to the PDF working this way.
So as things are now, I have to add the digital ID after I created the PDF, this is what I want to avoid. Is there a way to add a Digital ID while I convert the Word Document to PDF. Or a plug-in that does the same thing with only one click. Something to keep in mind is that the Certificate will always use the same Digital ID.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for replying.
This is probably what I'm looking for but I think I'm going wrong somewhere.
I tried changing the conversion options more specifically the "Adobe PDF security" setting.
This setting gives me 2 possibilities:
         - Reconfirm security for each job
         - Use the last known security settings
These are the only settings I can find regarding security settings. But both work with the password encrypting security.
Do keep in mind that I'm using Acrobat Pro 8.0.

  • Problem converting MSWord into PDF with Acrobat 8.1

I have a problem very similar to this. I also have a new laptop with WINDOWS Vista professional, MS Office 2007, and Acrobat Standard 8.1.
The 'Create PDF' button in MSWord (and MSExcel, Powerpoint etc) does not work even for the simplest of Word file without any speacial character. Also if I try to convert the file from inside Adobe Acrobat using "Create PDF/From File...", I get the following message: "An unexpected error occurred. PDFMaker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF." The Acrobat printer is working fine.
    Any Remedy?

  • Get wrong bookmark levels when converting Word to PDF using Acrobat 7.0

I am using MS Word 2003, Windows XP and Adobe Acrobat 7.0.
When converting a DOC to PDF, all features are perfect except the bookmarks are located at the wrong level, i.e., the first chapter "Introduction" is the first level, which is desired; but the second chapter and the later will be placed as the subitems of the first one. This is a severe problem for me for I need a very accurate convertion.
P.S.  I set the convertion level of bookmarks correctly before the convertion.
So I wonder if there is any solution relating to the settings of Word or Acrobat.
I am using Acrobat 7 because the later versions(8.0 etc.) has the running header problem. If 7.0 is also problematic. I don't know which version can do a perfect conversion.

Thank you for your answer Lori. I 've checked all the desired options and have done the conversion in Acrobat 8.0 and got right levels(but that one got problematic running headers). So i think this may be the problem of acrobat 7.0. I will try the other updated versions to see if there is any improvement.

  • How to convert large Word 2007 doc (1200 KB) to PDF with Acrobat 9 Standard

I'm trying to convert a large Word 2007 document to PDF with Acrobat 9 Standard.  It gets as far as 58% and then says it is unable to complete the conversion.  How can I fix this?

The file you are working on is really not that large. There probably is a problem on a certain page of the document. Break the document in half. Try to create a pdf file from each half. Hopefully, one half prints properly and one-half does not. Take the half that does not break it in half.  Try to convert each half into a pdf, etc...
Eventually, you will find which page has a problem. Most likely there is a graphic or a font used on that page that has problem. Most likely a graphic. That graphic will need to be recreated.

The co-worker was receiving the same error in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.0 before we updated her to AAP 9.1.3.
I have read some other threads similar to mine but none of them answer the question well enough to try anything listed there.  My co-worker can email me the Word file and I can print the file to my Adobe PDF printer just fine.  I have Acrobat Pro 7.0.
Can anyone give me help on the cause and or solution to this problem????

    Hi,
    - syntaxerror indicates the file contains unintelligible PostScript code.
Any discussion of postscript errors, seem to consistently point to:

  • How do you convert an Autocad drawing into a pdf with Acrobat X Standard?

How do you convert an Autocad drawing into a pdf with Acrobat X Standard?

    Something to try -
Having installed Acrobat Standard you have the Adobe PDF virtual printer installed.
From your authoring application do a "file-print" and select the Adobe PDF printer rather than the attached local or network printer / plotter.
