  • Audio issues after converting a media file to WMV

    Hello,
I am using the Adobe Premiere Elements 11 version, on a PC (windows Vista).
An issue often occures after converting a media (video + audio) into Windows Media format : once the conversion is over (after 2 - 3 hours for a 1 hour media file), the audio cannot be heard : we can only hear a very annoying bip all along the video.
This is currently the third time I am trying to make this conversion, each time I have to wait for the end of the conversion (3 hours) to notice that the sound is not correct, so I have to run the conversion once again.
Do you have clues concerning this issue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    Thomas Drouault
If you are using Premiere Elements 11 on Windows Vista 32 or 64 bit, it is a 32 bit application running in the 32 bit compatibility mode of the 64 bit system and a 32 bit application running in the 32 bit system. As such, the maximum supported installed RAM is 4.0 GB of which 3.0 GB or less are available. But we will put that aside for now.
What are the properties of your source media and what project preset are you setting? Please give the details of the Publish+Share/Computer/Windows Media preset as well as the settings under the presets Advanced Button/Video and Audio tabs. Of specific interest are the combo of video and audio codecs.
Please confirm that you are saying that the problem does not exist for playback of the rendered Timeline in the Edit Mode Monitor prior to the Windows Media export.
    Thanks.

  • How to convert real media files to quicktime for iPod

I want to know how to convert a real media file into a format that is recognizable by my iPod. Do I need to convert it into a Quicktime movie? And if I already have quick time movies on my computer, will they play on my iPod without any need of conversion?
    Thanks

MP4 is the format you need. You will need a third party program to convert it for viewing on your ipod. See this link
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=123067
There are many freeware programs out there for convertering. Beware of people that will direct you to a site where you have to pay for the program. There are many Spammers on this forum that will try to have you buy a particular program. Do a search for free conversion programs and you will find many.

If it is protected by Microsoft's DRM, then I'm afraid even a video conversion program won't do you much good.

  • Corrupted Media Files?

Whenever I try to watch a video that I downloaded, it either plays for about five seconds, then says that there was an error or that the format isn't supported or else it won't start  at all and it flickers between saying it's paused and saying it's playing.  It plays videos fine if they're the movies I'd already recorded, though.
. . . so what's happening with all of that?  Is there a way to fix it?  I'd try and re-install it and hope for the best, but I dont think that I have the discs and cords and such to connect to a computer and reformat.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Yes, all media files are not created equal. I found that simply watching media files that I obtained and did not convert often resulted in bad things -- including rebooting my BB. I have shifted to DLing my media content to my PC and then using DTM/MM to move/convert the media files to my BB. The result has been perfect stability of playback.
    Good luck!

  • I have converted most of my windows media files to itunes. However I had to close it down about 3 quarters of the way through. It then processed the album art. How can I convert the files that it didn't finish doing the first time? thanks

    Hi there,
hope you can help me. I helped my sister convert her window media files to itunes and set up an account for her. Unfortunately her computer is really slow and it was really late and we had to turn it off. It processed some of the album art for the files that it had converted. However, some songs were not converted and because there was quite a few left, I don't really know which ones did not get converted as I selected  all of the folders. How do I find out which ones I have left to convert and put the rest of the songs onto itunes for her please? Or are they on the itunes still as they showed up initially on itunes in the list to be converted.
    Thank you!

You could convert them all again and then dedupe, or use a Windows search to reveal all the WMA files and then try to work out which still need to be converted. If you're lucky iTunes would have processed the imports in alphabetical path order so it would just be a matter of working out where it had got up to...

  • Media encoder inserts black frame at beginning, when converting my MOV file to H264 for YouTube 720pHD

I'm using Adobe Media Encoder to convert my MOV file to H264, and selecting "YouTube 720pHD" (for Instagram) as I was instructed by someone at Adobe over the phone. But it inserts a black frame at the beginning or end. When I open the converted file on my desktop, the black frame is the first frame. After I upload to Instagram, the black frame is at the end. How can I get rid of the black frame?! Please help!

    Welcome to the furum, Forrest.
Hmmm. I don't recall hearing of that problem. There may not be many users who can offer a solution.
This workaround should work, however: Open the exported movie in QuickTime Player and remove the first frame. (I think it's only the first frame that is black, not the first second. Remove all the black, whatever it is.) Save the movie. That may cause QT Player to save it into a new movie. Use the modified movie for your Web site. QuickTime Pro is required — $30 from Apple.
Note that you've posted in the iMovie 6 forum, not the iMovie HD forum for iMovie 5. There are fewer current iMovie 5 users here. Most were iM5 users, however, so someone might remember this problem.

  • Can I convert a DRM Windows Media file to a mp3 file?

Our library offers a site that you can download DRM windows media files. I can't use them on an ipod, so I want to convert them to mp3 files so I can.

Probably not legally. You might want to check with your library to see what you can do with them, for example, can you burn them to an audio CD? The whole purpose of the DRM is to prevent you from converting or copying the files in ways the rights holder hasn't authorized. Discussions about how to circumvent DRM are not allowed according to the terms of use of these forums. Sorry.

  • Converting a FCP sequence to Windows Media File - please help!

Hi fellow mac users, please help if you can would mean the world to me! I'm trying to export an edited sequence (32mins in length) from FCP 5 using Quicktime conversion to a Windows Media File. Although I'm able to launch the process successfully, it just seems to convert the very first minute or two and not the entire thing! I'm not well versed in these technical issues, so have no clue how to figure this out. I've even tried in vain to compress the sequence first, import into FCP and then try to export as WM but no luck. My boss is away and client is pushing and I'm stressing!
So if you can help, that would be fantastic!
    many thanks in advance.

Cleaner and Sorenson are huge and complex transcoders. You just need time and a credit card to download and then lots of time to experiment and figure out the quirks of each application. You do not have this time. Telestream offers a competitor called Episode. it's cool.
Get the full version of telestream's flip4Mac (if it was installed properly you can do this with a click on the system prerf panel for flip4mac). You will need a credit card. Be prepared for a very long transcode to WMP, even on a big Macintosh. I don't think you have the time for any of this nonsense.

  • Is there a program that converts Quicktime video files into Media Player?

Is there a program that converts Quicktime video files into Media Player video files?
      Windows XP

Windows Media Player on a PC plays avi and mpg in addition to the WMV and ASF files so you can either use a Windows program that generates those files from .mov format or you can use QT Pro to convert the .mov to uncompressed avi and then use Windows Media Encoder to make WMV files. Although it may be out there no one here has mentioned a PC program that converts directly from .mov format to WMV. There is a program for Mac OS that does it and I believe that company is working on a version for Intel Macs so it wouldn't be much of a stretch for them to port it to Windows.

  • Converting media files

This question isn't exactly about iDVD, but related... I recently transferred some home movies I made in .wmv format to my new iMac, and since it couldn't read them I had to downloaded windows media player. Now I can watch them on my iMac, but I can't use them in iDVD or iMovie, etc... How can I convert the .wmv files to something my iMac can read/edit/burn???

    Hi Patrick,
I've been trying to convert quicktime files to something that will play on windows machine. I have tried ffmpeg, without any luck, but I don't really understand all the options that ffmpeg give you. If you can understand all the options, eg MPEG4 to AVI mencoder. DIVx to AVI mencoder, then maybe this application can help you. I also did a bit of research in the DIVx site, well I think that is what it is, I can check if you're interested, but it just might help. It is all double dutch to me, however I have the feeling it could help. When I come back to check if you have answered I will come armed with a bit more info.
    Cheers
