Cookie functionality is closed

Not getting mail in Outlook, went to check my account on Comcast.net and got "Your browsers cookie functionality is closed". How do I unclosed this whatever it is so I can get my mail?

Also, in case you didn't see it while posting your question, we have this help article: [[Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them]].
Please note that some privacy oriented add-ons may override Firefox's standard cookie settings. In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the problem sites in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
Any difference?

    Help!

    Hi Kossa,
You can also check if the issue occurs in
Clean Boot. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
    Besides, uninstall it and re-download
a fresh copy of FireFox to check the result. If the issue still exists, create a new user account to see if it occurs.
If the issue persists, you can contact Mozilla Support directly and use Internet Explorer (IE) during the time.

  • Cookie functions for Forms C/S ???

    Hi,
cookies in the web world are very important
but can we also create a value transfer from / to
Forms C/S and Web Forms with setter and getter functions ?
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks
    Friedhold

    Friedhold,
for Webforms, there exist a cookie sample in the Forms9i demos that allows to read and write cookies from/to teh client browser. For client/server you could use waht is suggested by Eugeniy, but I wouldn't suggest the registry for this because it seems to be a too sophisticated place to mess up with for exchanging messages.

  • Xorg not functional after closing laptop lid.

    Hi all!
Recently I've bought a monitor and I wanted to use my laptop more like a pc. But when I close the lid my both my screens go black. I'd like to use my computer with the lid closed normally.
Also, when I open the lid back I still have black screen only, both on laptop and monitor.
When I go to other terminal (ctrl+alt+F1..6) everything is fine on both screens. When I press alt+f7 and go back I have a black screen again.
I've looked at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Acpid and then looked at /etc/acpi/handler.sh, but it seems that I have no action assigned at lid closure so it should do nothing.

    I'm using xfce4.

But i think that this configuration may be irrevelant.
When I connect my external monitor I always type
    xrandr --auto
When unplugging the monitor I also type the same command.
Also I have turned my laptop's screen off (using settings/screen I've unchecked "use this output").

  • Firefox wrecked the cookie functions in Safari

I'm reporting a bug that started after setting the cookies option in Firefox to "block all". There was no real reason to do this I was just testing the new toolbar gizmo I'd gotten from somewhere. I turned it back on but then...
Now neither Safari or Firefox can access my Amazon.com cart or perform cookie based security at my email provider.
I've tried deleting the plist files for both and rebooting and ...
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Dave

There was no real reason to do this
Then why did you do it?
I was just testing the new toolbar gizmo I'd gotten from somewhere.
What is the exact name of this "toolbar gizmo" and what is it supposed to do?
Now neither Safari or Firefox can access my Amazon.com cart or perform cookie based security at my email provider.
That's not any indication of a bug.
I've tried deleting the plist files for both and rebooting and ...
Doing that was a waste of time, since it would have no effect on any cookies.
We need a lot more details if you want help for this problem. But until there is firm, reproducible evidence of a bug in Safari or Firefox, you should stop making that assumption.

  • Missing Live Shapes function when closing and reopening Photoshop CC

When I create a LIVE SHAPE in Photoshop CC edit the corners etc, close the file and then reopen at another stage, the ability to change the LIVE SHAPE properties has dissapeared.
Is it a bug or am I missing something.
    Thanks in advance.

Best way I have found so far is to use the direct select tool (A).  It gives you the properties on some of the shapes again.  It doesn't always work though. Half of my shapes work and half don't

  • Safari 5.1, OS 10.6.8 and cookie controls

Ok, I know there are numerous threads here in the Mac Safari forum regarding the issue of Safari 5.1 and cookie control. I just thought I would start my own thread instead of continuing on something else.
I am using Safari 5.1 and 10.6.8. I waited for a bit to update to 5.1 (did it this week), giving it since its debut on July 20th. I too am experiencing the lack of cookie controls. The three settings that exists do not seem to do what they say except that they always allow cookies.  To update from Safari 505, I downloaded the installer from Apple downloads instead of using SU function.
Has anyone read something that Apple knows of this issue?
Since installing Safari 5.1, I have done the last security update as well.
I remember reading that reinstalling the 1.1 version of the 10.6.8 combo would replace Safari 5.1 with 505. But, has anyone tried that? Will Safari 5.1 show up in software update as well as the last security update? I am wondering if I reapply that combo if it will undo the last security fix as well (since I am assuming software update will still see the receipt for the previous ones and not call for them to be redone).
If all cookies are coming through, isn't this a serious bug?  I have been resetting safari often to wipe them out, but they reoccur switftly.  I have to MBP's and am seeing the same behaviour on both.

I'd use that terminal command - takes seconds (and a restart) + no download. But otherwise yes - the 10.6.8 v1.1 then the update & anything else software update picks up (not safari, obviously )
Some people happily get a copy of just the safari 5.0.5 application & use that, since apparently it works, although I'm not sure what cookie function you'll get (easy enough to see). You'd use Pacifist to extract it from the 5.0.5 installer package, or grab it from a backup.
Although you'd hope software update would catch the security change - I'm not sure if the combo would overwrite the new or not... on the one hand, it's newer, but on the other, it sure over-wrote safari 5.1 when i checked it... so better to be sure, I haven't checked since that update.
If you look at the files in /System/Library/Keychains/ afterwards - if EVRoots.plist, SystemRootCertificates.keychain, and SystemTrustSettings.plist are all dated 23 April 2011, the combo rolled them back - if they're later... it didn't.
Apple do know, since bug reports come back as 'duplicate of...' - but  there's no public info to my knowledge.
How much of a security issue is this? Should I worry about it, or just leave it until they update to fix?
more privacy than real security, I'd say - although there are add-ons to manage cookies.

  • Wouldn't it be useful to many users to be able to select and protect a few known cookes (e.g., for banking, subscriptions, etc.) then delete all the rest?

Some cookies are necessary in order to manage material on banking sites, subscription sites, etc.
It seems to me that enabling some way to scroll through the cookie list, marking those one wants to keep, would be useful -- then one could periodically blast all the other detrius away with the "Remove all cookies" function.
    Perhaps in a future release?

Exceptions can work both ways. If you disable (block) all cookies then you can set an allow exceptions for cookies that you want to keep. If you keep cookies then you set set a block exception. You can see the permissions for the current server on Tools > Page Info > Permissions
If you use [[Clear Recent History]] then you remove all stored cookies, also the ones that are an allow exception.
