Cookie permissions change back to allow every time Firefox is started

OK, here's the deal. Recently I noticed that cookies were being allowed despite having them disallowed. After messing around I discovered that despite having cookies unchecked, every time I launch FF, the cookies automatically become enabled (both accept cookies & cookies from 3rd party sites is checked). I removed Cookie Monster & the same thing happened. I already deleted the prefs.js file and this did no good. At the time, I have Toggle Cookies installed, which I have to click every time FF launches. When launched, It starts out as denied, and then it changes to allowed. Once I click the icon & set it to deny, then the check marks in the boxes go away. So, why are cookie settings automatically being set to allow each time I launch FF?
I wonder if DoNotTrack had something to do with this? I have removed it from FF. I also have Ghostery, but up until a week ago, Ghostery & Cookie Monster played well together.
Anyone have any ideas? Has the browser been infected with something? Also noted today, launching FF in safe mode shows that the settings for the cookies do not change back to allowed. Apparently something running in regular mode is causing the problem. Other plug ins present on the browser are: NoScript, Foxy Proxy, AdBlock plus, Quick Java, & Norton toolbar.

  • Mailto set to Gmail, but defaults back to Outlook every time Firefox reboots

I have Firefox 12.0 mailto set to Gmail. Each time I reboot Firefox, mailto defaults to Outlook. Then, when I click on a mail link, Outlook tries to install. I cancel out of that, set mailto back to Gmail, and then everything is fine until the next time I reboot Firefox. This has been going on for the last many versions of Firefox. Anybody else run across this - and if so, any solutions?

    Hi,

  • Two tabs reload every time Firefox 3.6.2 starts, even if they were previously closed

Starting today, I have two tabs that reload every time Firefox is started. I've tried clearing the history, closing the tabs and restarting, and simply rebooting the system. Upgrading Firefox is not an option, as the newer versions don't work properly with some of the websites I frequent.
As it worked fine until today, and the copy on my USB drive still works fine, I assume it's a setting wrong. I'd copy the USB version over to my PC, but then I'd have to reset all of my bookmarks.
    Thank you.

It is also possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Why do I have to select "continue allowing" every time I visit certain sites in order to be able to type into flash based form fields?
See attached image for reference to what button I am referring to. Until i hit the "continue allowing" button I can not type into the form fields. I have tried removing and reinstalling flash. refreshing firefox, and clearing cache and cookies, and deleting the permissions.sqlite file. Nothing has worked. This issue just started happening a few days ago. Please let me know what I might be able to do to fix this.

That full page including the form is a Flash object.
I didn't see this doorhanger opening when I tried the URL in a new profile.
Did you previously created an exception or is the default selected if you check the permissions for the Flash plugin?
You can inspect and manage the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab:
*Click the "[[Site Identity Button|Site Identity Button]]" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
*Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
You can go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions)
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Why do system preferences revert back to default every time computer is restarted

Cannot keep changes to System preferences.  All revert back to default every time computer is restarted.
Also, all extensions, e.g. adblock, reinstall every time computer is restarted.
    <Personal information edited by Host>

Back up all data before proceeding.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags -h nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown -h $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -h -N {} + -type d -exec chmod -h +x {} + 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

I want to save my bookmarks for my favorite pages but every time I close Safari the default ones (Apple, iCloud, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, Yahoo, News and Popular) re appear.

  • Change Bex Variable Value every time refresh query!

I'm looking for solution at this problem:
    1) I've create a formula variable
    2) I've assign to this variable a value in EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001 (step 2)
    3) When run my query it's OK but the value of my variable is static!!
The problem is to change variable value every time the user change a filter like when do "Select Filter Value"...
    How can I do this?

I know step 2 and this step is usefull for the first valorization of variable
but, for example, if I run the query with initial filter and after, in the navigation, I restrict the filter using "Keep Filter Value" on a single value of one characteristic the system doesn't execute the SAP EXIT and variable is the same of the first initial value...
I need a SAP EXIT or anything like it for change Formula Variable Value every time I change any filter during the query navigation.

  • Help Problem NOT Solved Why have my system preferences suddenly started to reset back to default every time I reboot

Why have my system preferences suddenly started to reset back to default every time I reboot At first I thought it was happening because I disconnected my Google account, but now I've disable that account and switched to Firefox.  I wasn't sure how my browser setting could have anything to do with my system preferences and now I think it's some glitch or missed setting that is causing the problem.  Oh & I locked my preference panel and that did not help.
In addition to what I say above, not only are all my system preferences being reset to default, but also the preferences for word and Excel.  I'm sure it's affecting other programs, but Word & Excel are the main ones that I have a lot of custom setting for.  Especially annoying is the fact that my ribbon commands are reset.  All this started happening when I signed up for a Google Drive account.  The only system updates have been the usual security updates.  I deleted my Google account but haven't uninstalled it.  I'll try this, but I can't figure out how that would result in all OS preferences being reset.

I accidentally changed a setting so every time I open a jpeg photo, adobe reader pops up and says it's not compatible.  I just want to be able to open a jpeg normally and not have adobe open.

    Hi Lhughes0,
    Try these steps:
    1. Select the .jpeg file
    2. Right click on that  file and on context menu go to the last option which says "Properties"
    3. Now you will see the option where you change the program to use for opening your file
    4. Instead of Adobe Reader select Windows Photo there.
    5. Apply and say OK to it
    Give it a try

  • RAID 1 disks resync every time computer is starting

    Hi All,
My PC is running windows 8.1 ( i3 intel processor,
    4GB RAM ).
I have got on this machine two RAID 1 mirrored volumes,
one for Operating System (boot volume) and a second one for data.
Mirroring is software controlled  and it has been made using native win8 disk management tools.
Both mirrored volumes resync quite every time computer is starting.
Even if I have just finished to resync mirrors and resynching
completed well (100 %), next time I boot my PC resynch starts again, often but not always on both couples of disks.
Resynching  lasts several hours and it is not possible to have it running every day on a home PC, which is used for not more than one-two hours a day.
My PC is very slow and also I often see a black screen for several seconds at boot and at every change of account.
Is it normal to have Resynching running quite every day on windows 8 system ?
May it be Resynching the reason for black screen I often experiment at boot?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Andy, All
    As soon as I
    completed a new
resynching, I tried to shutdown (by software) and restart the machine a couple of minutes later,
without switching off the power supply.  The result was that both mirrors were resynching another time.
Even if I was precise to wait for complete shutdown to restart the PC, I have found in the event log the following
    error:
    Origine:       Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power
    Category: (63)
    Level:       Critical
    Description:
Riavvio del sistema senza un regolare arresto. Questo errore può essere causato da un'interruzione, un arresto anomalo o un'interruzione dell'alimentazione imprevista del
    sistema.
    (Translation:
Reboot without regular stop. This error may be caused by anomalous power interruption …)
I have found tens of events like this in the last monthes.
I have also found the following error in the eventlog:
    Origin:       Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Boot
    Category: None
    Level:       Error
    Description:
Avvio rapido di Windows non riuscito con stato di errore 0xC00000D4
(Fast boot not successful with error 0xC00000D4 ).
This error also occurred multiple times.
    Thanks again for your help

  • Unterminated string literal error every time firefox opens a page.

Every time firefox opens a new page, the error pops up. It says Javascript error at the top of the error window - and the error is "unterminated string literal. It very annoying, some pages have multiple instances of the error window popping up on top of each other. I reloaded the program, no changes. I am ready to give up and go to Chrome (which does not have the error)

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)
