Cookies appearing even when set to "Never"

Hi,
Ever since the new Safari update, I constantly get cookies from Google, even though I have NEVER set in preferences under "accept cookies". This happens many times during the day, and I am constantly deleting it, but soon after it's there again.
Can someone tell me how to stop this from happening?
Thanks
Stu

I constantly get cookies from Google, even though I have NEVER set in preferences under "accept cookies".
But are you using a Google service, such as Google Desktop or Google Reader, etc. Those can set cookies, too. It doesn't have to be cookies from browsing.
You don't need to constantly delete cookies. You can do that at the end of a browsing session; anything more frequent is wasting your time.

  • Screensaver comes on, even when set to 'Never'

On my TiBook 550MHz, 512MB RAM, running 10.4.11, I have this issue recently: screensaver is set to 'Never', but it does come on after a few minutes of inactivity. Hot Corners are disabled, so it's not that. Screensaver.plist file deleted, permissions repaired, safe-booted, then back to normal boot, problem persists.
    Any ideas, people? Thanks.

Ah ,yes, sorry about my confusing the sleep thing, but those are the 2 pref files that hold ScreenSaver settings info, that may or may not be the problem, it can also be held in PRAM, or NVRAM.
Does it boot into Open Firmware with CMDOption+of ?

  • HT5463 moon icon appears even when outside of times specified?

My "do not disturb" features were working just fine and out of the blue the "moon" icon appears
even when the actual time is well outside of the times I have set ((11:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
Any suggestions on how to fix this?  Thank you.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's a bug that will be fixed on January 7th, but Apple should release a fix to that bug because it will happen again next year

  • IPod continuously flashes "Do not Disconnect" even when set to automatic.

iPod continuously flashes "Do not Disconnect" even though iTunes says "Update is Complete" and even when set to automatic update. It mounts both in iTunes and on the Desktop.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I have alredy tried rebooting both the iPod and computer.
    Thanks.

    Patrick,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Sounds like you've got Disk Use enabled. Try unchecking the Box "Enable Disk Use" under iTunes>Preferences>iPod Tab.

  • I still get cookies even when I select "never" under preferences, why?

Using Safari, when I select "never" under preferences, I still recieve many cookies. I understand that if I am signed in to yahoo for example, the cookie will be replaced. However, if I am not signed in, but just connected to the net, I still get these cookies.
If anybody can give me a little insight, that would be just great
    Thanks

Many sites have come up with all sorts of ways around the cookie blocks in web browsers, tricks such as Flash cookies, "evercookies" and others. Those can be saved on your system even if you have a browser set to supposedly to block cookies. As with spam and junkmail-filter developers, it's sort of a war between the web sites and the people developing cookie blocks/filters. And note that you don't need to be signed into a site to get a cookie; all you need do is load any web page from the site and it may attempt to put one or more cookies on your browser.
You may want to look into a more sophisticated cookie cleaner from a third-party developer. I use Cookies from SweetP Productions and it seems to clean out unwanted cookies quite well, but there are other similar products available.
    Regards.

  • Intel mac mini falling asleep when set to never...

I have a mac mini that is sleeping (blinking light in front) and I don't want it to. I have the energy saver set to never for both and put the hard disk to sleep is not checked. I also installed "caffeine" and set it not sleep, yet the mini still goes to sleep! How to keep it from sleeping?
    osx 10.5.5

Do you have the mini connected via ethernet?
If so, this discussion could help:

  • Screen Saver in 10.6.1 Activates When Set To Never Activate

    Anyone else having this issue?
I have the screen saver set to never activate in the System Preferences, having opted to use a hot corner instead, and still, after fifteen minutes, if I haven't moved the mouse cursor or hit a key, lo and behold, the screen saver comes on! It's the most annoying thing, especially if I'm compiling code which takes longer than that, or trying to watch a movie or Hulu or some such.
Add this to the other issue I'm having, whereby Mail in Snow Leopard often doesn't want to send outgoing email through my server at work. These seem like things which shouldn't be occurring in a commercial operating system, especially now that it's at a .1 release, meaning there's been time to recognize and fix bugs, and I know the Mail bug is a big one lots of people have complained about.

    delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/byhost/com.apple.screensaver....
and log out/in. set your screensaver preferences again and see if they stick.

  • Form appears even when physical copy deleted and cache cleared.

I am running an application on the oracle application server (Oracle 10G Release 2 10.2.0.1.0).
When I load up my initial form sometimes it runs the correct version of the menu i.e. the one in the forms_path and sometimes it runs an old version which must be located somewhere, but I cannot find where. I have searched the entire machine (used as the application server). There is no virtualisation running it is a straight forward live box and my search returns nothing apart from the version I expect of the menu.
Fair enough I thought, must be stored in the cache I then went through the process of deleting anything that might remotely store a history in Internet Explorer.
This didn't work so I thought it might be the cache in the JVM, so cleared the cache in the JVM and disabled caching.
Still no luck, now thought it might be caching issue in the oracle application server itself. After checking in Enterprise Manager that nothing was cached and restarting the instance of the server that was running and even the machine in a desperate attempt to clear anything that might be stored anywhere the old version still appeared on some start-ups.
Does anyone have any ideas from where this phantom form may be returning from the dead.
I even tried deleting all the forms on the computer (obviously backed them up) and miraculously the application ran with an old version of the forms on some start-ups.
This problem crops up intermitently as discussed above, where oh where is it coming from. Have been looking at this all day and just has me stumped. Help would be very much appreciated
    Thanks in advance
    Dan

The menu being brought back each time was how I thought forms worked. Just got drawn into cache idea because I thought with the file not appearing anywhere in the search of the computer, it must have something to do with historical versions.
I'm not in work because its currently 9 o'clockish in England but I will try out the sysinernals tool tommorow. I take it by sysinternals you mean the filemon tool using a filter of .mmx to draw out the menu?
    Thanks
    Dan
p.s Was an old version of menu I built not the oracle default.

  • Is it a known but that the outgoing SMTP user ID is always set to the same as the incoming even when set differently?

I'm trying to figure out where to report this: I keep noticing that when I setup a new account and I set the incoming and outgoing user names differently, the outgoing one never is honoured; it always sets it the same as the incoming one and I have to manually go into the outgoing settings to change it. Just wondered if this was known, thought it might be worth reporting.

please file a bug in [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ Bugzilla].
I can not see this one listed, but it looks to me like the behavior may well have been introduced with [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=883670 Bug 8396652]

  • Internal Error 500 started appearing even after setting a large number for postParametersLimit

    Hello,
I adopted a CF 9 web-application and we're receiving the Internal 500 Error on a submit from a form that has line items for a RMA.
The server originally only had Cumulative Hot Fix 1 on it and I thought if I installed Cumulative Hot Fix 4, I would be able to adjust the postParametersLimit variable in the neo-runtime.xml.  So, I tried doing this, and I've tried setting the number to an extremely large number (last try was 40000), and I'm still getting this error.  I've tried putting a <cfabort> on the first line on the cfm file that is being called, but I'm still getting the 500 error.
As I mentioned, it's a RMA form and if the RMA has a few lines say up to 20 or 25 it will work.
I've tried increasing the following all at the same time:
    postParameterSize to 1000 MB
Max size of post data 1000MB
    Request throttle Memory 768MB
Maximum JVM Heap Size - 1024 MB
Enable HTTP Status Codes - unchecked
Here's some extra backgroun on this situation.  This is all that happened before I got the server:
The CF Server is installed as a virtual machin and was originally part of a domain that was exposed to the internet and the internal network.  The CF Admin was exposed to the internet.
AT THIS TIME THE RMA FORM WORKED PROPERLY, EVEN WITH LARGE NUMBER OF LINE ITEMS.
The CF Server was hacked, so they did the following:
They took a snapshot of the CF Server
Unjoined it from the domain and put it in the DMZ.
The server can no longer connect to the internet outbound, inbound connections are allowed through SSL
Installed cumulative hot fix 1 and hot fix APSB13-13
Changed the Default port for SQL on the SQL Server.
This is when the RMA form stopped working and I inherited the server.  Yeah!
Any ideas on what i can try next or why this would have suddenly stopped working after making the above changes on the server.
    Thank you

Start from the beginning. Return to the default values, and see what happens. To do so, proceed as follows.
Temporarily shut ColdFusion down. Create a back-up of the file neo-runtime.xml, just in case.
Now, open the file in a text editor and revert postParametersLimit and postSizeLimit to their respective default values, namely,
    <var name='postParametersLimit'><number>100.0</number></var>
    <var name='postSizeLimit'><number>100.0</number></var>
That is, 100 parameters and 100 MB, respectively. (Note that there is no postParameterSize! If you had included that element in the XML, remove it.)
    Restart ColdFusion. Test and tell.

  • Photoshop CS5 - Leading is suddenly massive, even when set to auto

Using Photoshop CS5 on HP laptop with Windows 7. I've never had an issue with this before, but today when I opened up PS, this happened:
No matter what I set the leading to, there's always this humongous gap when I hit enter. Shift + enter makes no difference. Changing the font size also makes no difference.
    HELP!

Look in the Paragraph panel, and see if there's a non-zero value in Space Before or Space After.

  • C7 - WLAN Connecting automatically, even when set ...

Hi, my C7 always connects to the home WLAN even it is set to "Manual" and not switch to known WLANs..... I tried turning the widgets offline too.... but it always connects to the WLAN after a few seconds.
This is annoying because when I want to use Joikuspot I have to be really fast to launch it before it connects and blocks the WLAN interface for joiku....

I faced similar issues when using the built-in nokia web bowser and there are a couple of solutions you can try:
    1) when changing between wifi hotspots
         * make sure your access point is defined for that hotspot:
           menu>web (activate built-in browser)>options >settings>general>access point>options>
select access point>select your wifi access point.
*how to add modify access point:
          menu>settings>connectivity>settings>destinations>you can add/modify here
the access poitn you selected should correspond to your wifi hotspot.
    2) if you have saved bookmarks in the built-in web browser, the last access point you used
is probably saved as default, I always encounter this when I start yahoo.
Here is what I did when I encountered it in yahoo:
menu>web (built in browser)>your bookmark (e.g. yahoo) [press slightly longer, until you see the circular arrow and then a submenu]>edit>modify the access point corresponding to
your hotspot (you will see the previously saved access point).
    3) If the 2 above options will only make it more troublesome for you, please download another
         browser such as Opera Mobile

  • Display Turns Off Even When Set to Stay on

I'm running Lion on my Macbook. I've set the energy settings to never turn off in power adapter mode, but it still turns off after approx. 5 minutes. Is there another place where this setting needs to be configured? This is causing me problems when leaving the computer to do a lengthy process such as compiling a slide show movie. Thanks in advance.

  • Ipod classic 5G backlight turns off when in dock even when set to 'always on'-any ideas?

I have just inherited an Ipod classic 5G from my son. It all works fine except when I put it into my Ruark audio dock when the backlight then switches off and so I cannot see the tracks. I have it set to backlight always on. I have tried waking it up but it still stays dark. It is fine if I use it with the jack connection on all my other systems. Is this a common problem or am i doing something wrong or can it be got round?? This is my first attempt with an ipod so I am a bit of a novice!

Thanks brody, I do have that option checked. I was just wondering if there was some way via command line or something that things could be modified so that the Mac never turns the NIC off at all, or never tells it to enter into "low power" state.
The more I read, the more I realize this may not be possible.

  • Does the iPhone 5s scan thumb even when setting is turned off?

Call me paranoid but I will not get my thumb scanned anywhere. I don't really trust that they won't sell the information anywhere or at least to the NSA. Does anyone know how the button works, the code? Can anyone confirm that the button does not scan only when you choose that option. That is why I've been hesitant to upgrade from my iPhone 5. I guess I could always someone mod the phone to have a clickable button again. Thanks!

Reading this makes me feel a little better. Still would probably put a piece of tape over the home button just in case. NSA won't have a chance!
    Secure Enclave
"Touch ID doesn't store any images of your fingerprint. It stores only a mathematical representation of your fingerprint. It isn't possible for your actual fingerprint image to be reverse-engineered from this mathematical representation. iPhone 5s also includes a new advanced security architecture called the Secure Enclave within the A7 chip, which was developed to protect passcode and fingerprint data. Fingerprint data is encrypted and protected with a key available only to the Secure Enclave. Fingerprint data is used only by the Secure Enclave to verify that your fingerprint matches the enrolled fingerprint data. The Secure Enclave is walled off from the rest of A7 and the rest of iOS. Therefore, your fingerprint data is never accessed by iOS or other apps, never stored on Apple servers, and never backed up to iCloud or anywhere else. Only Touch ID uses it, and it can't be used to match against other fingerprint databases."
