Cookies cannot be blocked in 10.6.8

Hi since updating to 10.6.8 with latest patch and Safari 5.1 Cookies are always installed despite being set to Block Cookies "Always". This is extremely worrying, as I distrust cookies for privacy and security reasons. Anyone else got this problem? Tried trashing Cookies PList to no effect. Will swop to the inferior Firefox until this security issue is fixed.

I had similar problems, and fixed it this morning.
You may wish to try the approach I posted elsewhere, to revert to 5.05 -  if you have Time Machine.  You can still download 5.0.5 from the Apple site if you don't have it elsewhere.

If you don't have 5.0.5 backup on TM, you can get it here:

Good luck!

  • Google cookies cannot be blocked in Safari?

When using OS 10.5 or higher and Safari, google cookies cannot be deleted.
Google cookies show up when privacy setting is set to block cookies.
Google cookies reappear minutes later after they are deleted and privacy set to block cookies.
Google cookies reappear even after cookies.plist file is deleted.
This is not a problem when using OS 10.4 or earlier versions.
This is not a problem when using Firefox.
Is there a fix to this problem other than switching to Firefox as the primary browser?

If doing so improved the situation, this confirms that one of Safari's database files has become corrupt.
The blacklists from Google’s Safe Browsing Initiative (where Safari checks for 'fraudulent websites') are contained in a database cache file called SafeBrowsing.db - the file was created when you first launched Safari, and if you have the browser open, the file is modified approximately every 30 minutes.
In other words it is part of Safari's (version 3.2 onwards) anti-phishing security feature.
As an alternative to turning off 'Warn when visiting a fraudulent website', which will lose you that important security feature, you should delete that database file, (but first close Safari):
    Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari (this is a folder)/SafeBrowsing.db
(This location may vary depending on your OS)
It will be recreated next time you open Safari, and will then start again collecting details of dodgy websites.

In when_button-pressed trigger I wrote code like this.

    Gurus,
    thanks for your advice.
Actually in the package specification (in Forms) there was some other varible whose initial value was based on a block which did not exist in my forms.
    So that caused the problem.
    Sorry for the silly question.
    Thanks,

  • The sales document cannot be blocked

    Hi,
Our client has deleted some shipment directly from the R/3 system. The Client is using CRM  System for Sales and Marketing. Now whenever we are opening the system in the change mode it is giving error "The sales document cannot be blocked" Error Message v1043.
This is happening for some material. We have checked the Notes and found some. We came to know that the shipment related to the order has been forcefully deleted from the r/3 system after releasing the shipment.
Can anybody tell me is there any way to solve the issue without applying notes.
    Thanks
    Subrato Chowdhury

    Dear friend,
As our friend says check the schedule line first is it confirmed order qty and try delivery before that see if you have any delivery block in order if you don't have any block in sales order, once you get that error double click and see what response you get from performance assistant, see if you could locate the area were u get the problem.
    Regards,
    Arun.

  • Some sites say cookies are blocked and I can't use some features on those sites. But I check each time and cookies are not blocked.

Sites say I can't set preferences or post on message boards, etc. because cookies are blocked. I know how to set cookies. They are NOT blocked.

Did you check the cookie permissions for the current domain in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions" after you have opened that page?
If the setting in Firefox is correct then check your security software (firewall) to make sure that cookies aren't blocked there.

  • Safari 5.1.10 cannot entirely block cookies?

    Hi,
Using Safari 5.1.10 (on a MacBook Pro 10.6.8) I have not been able to stop Safari from collecting cookies.
Even if I've selected 'always' in the 'preferences/privacy/block cookies' dialog box, they still get collected.
On my previous MacBook/Safari this didn't happen.
    What gives?

Yes, this is interesting in a small way.
I blocked cookies and then went to CNN.com, 15 items listed as 'cache' appeared right away, then another 10 when I went on NYTimes.com. Some listed as 'cache, cookies'.  Going to WashingtonPost.com added another 32 items. BBC.com 47 items. NPR only one item. Seems like much of it is connected to ads.
I closed those pages and deleted everthing except the 2 apple cookies. Went on elpais.com, which loaded one item listed as 'cookies'...  perhaps 'cache' is a rude word in Spanish so they have to call it cookie instead.
Like I mentioned, if I blocked cookies on my earlier MacBook this stuff didn't get listed, but there was perhaps the same cacheing going on anyway.

  • Block third party cookies, does not block?? waddup??

please block anything at all that comes from, cdn.sendori.com, or searchassist.com. have these companies bought off all web browser people, (including Firefox) so they can display ads?
their totally annoying disruption of web viewing is not going to succeed, any company I ever see advertised via either of these will be boycotted to the greatest extent of capability.
code says (set cookie), obviously Firefox settings to block cookies does not stop the set cookie code.
what you think about all of it?

  • What to do if cookies are completed blocked

If I have a web-app that uses the session to store objects for each client, how do I handle cases where a client blocks all cookies. Is there a way around it?
    thx

    Hmmm...
    That is a tough one.
1st, I don't think it matters much which one you use... I would probably use the encodeURL() if I really needed it...
    But!
I don't think you will need to encode the URL for a forward. You are normally sending the request you received on when you do a forward, instead of creating a new request as you do when you sendRedirect. The difference here, then, is that if there is a session associated with the request before the forward, then that same request will be associated with the request after the forward - since there is only one actual ServletRequest object.
That falls apart if you are using a ServletRequestWrapper for the forward that does not delegate getSession and related properties to the original request... If this is the case, then you would probably want to try them out and see which works.

  • Cannot retrieve blocking reasons from mir4

i am trying to retrieve the blocking reason fields (spgrm, spgrp, spgrt and spgrq)from mir4 but when i look at the technical settings the field is in structure drseg. since i cannot fetch data from structure, i used the where-used list to find out other tables which include those fields.
as of now, the report fetches the blocking reasons from table rseg and bseg. i have to modify it in order for it to get data from mir4. how can i do that if as i trace the structure, both the table bseg and rseg uses those same fields but their results are different from the expected results in mir4? please help.

This may be because of shared buffer raw message are not in temporary file or data pool.

  • Cannot open block diagram

I opened a VI I recently created and when I try to open the block diagram its greyed out. doing Ctrl I and selecting Protection shows file as Locked(no password) and all options to unlock are greyed out. Any ideas how I can sort this out?

You appear to have done everything right.  I doubt that being on the network would be a culprit.
You've probably mapped the drive, right?
Did you even save it with the Locked property?
I am wondering if someone else had access to one of your PC's and played a trick on you.
I tried a test VI and I can open the block diagram.  See image below (composite of 2 images)

  • Cannot set Block Size

    Hi all,
    <br><br>
When I tried to create a database 11g using DBCA, I noticed the tool did not allow me to select the block size. It was automtically set to 8KB without being able to modify it.
    <br><br>
Is there any reason for that?
    <br><br>
    os: windows xp sp2

When you create a new database you have two options when using the dbca, create it by using a seed database (by means of a cloning procedure) or create a completely new database (customized). If you choose the first option, then you must adopt the physical structure from the seed database, which by default is 8k and there is no way to change it. If you create a completely new database you can modify the block size since there is no physical structure yet.
