Cookies enabled but won't work

Could someone please help me? Every time I try to log on or access a site that requires cookies, I get the message saying that I have to enable cookies. Cookies are also not stored on any sites I visit. I have checked a billion times, and cookies are enabled in preferences. I have tried resetting safari (I have version 2.0.4) and deleting com.apple.Safari.plist....NOTHING works. I have also tried in Firefox and get the same message: "In order to access all the functions of ...,you need to modify your browser settings to enable cookies and JavaScript. For instructions on how to enable cookies, please see the Help section on the sign in page".

Hmm... so do you use an Application that handles cookies or a Safari enhancing app? You didn't say.
Also in your first post you say:

If you literally Deleted the plist file & cookies.plist file, try instead
to move them to the trash or Desktop, do a restart of you computer.
You Did make sure to QUIT Safari first when moving these plist files?
• Try Safari in a Test or other user account, if you do not have another account create a test account.
Under the Blue Apple ->System Preferences /Accounts/ Login Options,
use the [+] to create one, for ease you could enter test in all the fields.
Log out from your user name account & log in to the Test account that you created.
This helps to determine if this is a system wide issue or isolated to your user name account.
• Have you tried running Disk permissions repair or and a DIsk Repair [using your Tiger Dvd install disc 1, see this user's tipTravis A.'s Regular Maintenance/General Troubleshooting for some info on how to.

Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess thay've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.

Automatic download is enabled but won't work.

I have an iPhone 4 and recently enabled Automatic Downloads. I did the same on my iPad 1, and it works perfectly, but the feature does not work on my iPhone. I'm using the most recent OS and the most recent iTunes. Any advice would be appreciated.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. Test. If the sites still don't work, they're incompatible with Safari. Use another browser, such as Firefox, to access them.

Apple TV2 airplay audio (via Airport Express) works well with music, but won't work with any video.

I have an ATV2 and Airport Express connected to speakers all connected to the same network. It all works with music, but won't work with any video audio. In my ATV's settings I've selected my AirPort Express speakers. It works for music, why not everything else? Is there a fix or work around?

Here’s what you need to do to turn on AirPlay Mirroring on your iPad 2:
– Have iOS 5 installed on your iPad 2
– Make sure your Apple TV software is up-to-date. You can check for updates on the Apple TV by going to Settings > General > Update Software.
– Have your TV turned with Apple TV active and showing.
– Double-tap the home button on the iPad to bring up the Multitasking Bar.
– Swipe to move to the left of the Multitasking Bar, so you can see the set of controls just to the left of the volume adjustment slider.
– The button just to the right of the Fast Forward button – the one that has a rectangle with a solid, upward-facing arrow in it – is the AirPlay button. Tap to switch from iPad to Apple TV.
– Once you do that you’ll see the Mirroring section appear just below the entry for Apple TV. Just tap to turn that On, and the iPad 2 will immediately begin mirroring to your TV screen.

Well, there is nothing anyone here can do for you. Did you actually purchase it at an Apple Store, or at another retailer like BestBuy, HH Gregg, a mall kiosk, T-Mobile, AT&T, etc?
The ONLY source for unlocked iPhones in the US is Apple. If you purchased it anywhere other than at an Apple Store, you purchased a locked phone.
You can call AppleCare and give them the serial number of the phone to confirm the status of the lock.

I installed FF 4 and now the excellent Maxa Cookie Manager software won't work. Can I install and older version of FF over FF4? I could just uninstall 4.0 and re-install 3.* but I don't want to loose all my bookmarks.

Maxa Cookie Manager software no longer records cookies since I installed FF4. So what will happen if I install FF 3.* over FF4?

Itunes has crashed.
Can't be reinstalled.
The software update won't work, neither will disk utility.
Removing the .dmg files hasnt helped.

PDFMaker loads but won't work in Word 2013 - Acrobat XI and DC - Win 8.1 Pro

OK, I opened a question that never got answered and it never was resolved...
Just updated to Acrobat DC - same problem exists...
I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro fully up to date..
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2013 Pro (I have an Office 365 subscription so it's the click-to-run install).
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat Pro DC.
I've rebooted (a full restart, not Win 8's fast boot restart) between each installation.
I've tried this in multiple Office applications, none of them work EXCEPT for Outlook.
For the following I will use Word as my examples...
I've uninstalled all plug-ins and still it won't work.
I've tried running Word as Administrator.... still won't work.
OK... so this is what it looks like... as you can see the toolbar loads, but no icons...

When you click on those buttons... it goes through the motions as if it were creating the PDF... but no file is ever created...
If I right-click on a Word document and select Convert to PDF - it goes through the motions of creating the PDF, asks me where to save... and then a dialog box named "Acrobat PDFMaker" comes up saying " {Exclamation Point Yellow Triangle Icon} An unexpected error occurred. PDFMaker was unable to produce the Adobe PDF."
If I right-click on a text file... and select Covert to PDF, it immediately pops open a PDF of the text file. Same with any image file.
This was all working perfectly up until out of nowhere it stopped working on January 26, 2015. See my original posting here: Acrobat XI Pro Word 2013 add-in stopped working
I can Print to PDF using the PDF Printer without any problems.
Creating a PDF in Outlook, no problems...
I'm hoping somebody can figure this one out... I'm completely stumped.... and I'm usually very good at troubleshooting stuff.

Add-on enabled but doesn't work

Extension add-on Multi-row Bookmarks Toolbar 5.0.1 (enabled) has been working fine for many months. Today it stopped working. Tried several times restarting Firefox each time but it still wouldn't work. I removed it then re-installed and tried again but it still won't work. Each time it shows as enabled with the line count set at 5. It is very frustrating.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated..............Ralph

That is an older version which actually had been disabled but when 5.0.1 didn't work I disabled it and enabled this version and it didn't work either. I always run with the most current version and have never had a problem before with this add-on.

Airport Extreme appears to be ok but won't work

I have my airport extreme hooked up to my cable modem and am using it as a router. It has worked fine for over a year I have had it but, for some reason has craped out today. Nothing has changed, no updates nothing. Internet is fine (if I plug the Ethernet cable directly into my MBP. Green light is on on the extreme. Have reset SSID and password and restored the Airport Extreme and the internet just won't work. Any ideas?

If I understand correctly, you can access the internet via an Ethernet connection to the AirPort Extreme but not via a wireless connection. Is this correct?
Connect the computer to the AirPort Extreme with an Ethernet cable. Open AirPort Utility, which can be found in the Utilities folder (located inside the Applications folder).
Your AirPort extreme should appear in the sidebar. Click it, then press "Manual Setup." Enter the password if asked.
Go to the Wireless tab. The wireless mode should be set to "Create a wireless network." Ensure the wireless network name is correct.
For now, disable wireless security. This will simplify the process of diagnosing the connection, and you can (and should) re-enable it afterward. (If you have not been using any wireless security, I strongly recommend that you enable it once the problem has been solved.)
Press +Wireless Options…+.
+Transmit Power+ should generally be set to 100%.
For now, don't create a closed network. If you want, you can make the network "closed" after the problem has been solved.
Press OK.
Go to the Access tab. Disable MAC Address Access Control.
Press "Internet" in the toolbar.
Set +Connect Using+ to Ethernet. Set +Configure IPv4+ to +Using DHCP+. Set +Ethernet WAN Port+ to +Automatic (Default)+. Set +Connection sharing+ to +Share a public IP address.+
Press Update. Allow the AirPort Extreme to restart. Unplug the cable connecting your computer to the AirPort Extreme.
After the AirPort Extreme has restarted, choose your network name from the AirPort menu. See if you have internet access.

PS downloaded via CC seemed to download fine but won't work. Won't even open a file/document.

I recently got a new computer and I have CC so I downloaded the CC app and downloaded LR and PS. LR runs/works fine. PS seemed to download ok but won't even open a new file:picture. I am very frustrated as I have spoken with CC tech support and they were of no help, in fact that didn't even have a clue how to navigate Windows 8! What does the crash report say about the name of the faulting module?
Yes, crashes like that are usually due to the video card driver. (though I was guessing from the original description that the image was just not drawing)
Have you tried disabling GPU drawing in Photoshop before opening a document?
Have you updated your video card driver from the GPU maker's website?

Keyboard lights up but won't work

I have a 2010 13" MacBook Pro with the 2.66GHz processor and 4gigs of ram. Yesterday when I was using it, the screen went yellow and the fan started spinning quickly so I turned it off. Now when I restart the computer, I get to the login screen, and the keyboard is fully illuminated but I can't type anything or move the cursor with the trackpad. Even my apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse won't work even though they normally would at that login screen.
I tried doing the apple hardware test and it said that there was no problem. The fact that I was able to hold down the 'd' key and get it to start the hardware test shows that the keyboard isn't broken, so I don't know why it isn't working.
