Cooking/Recipe app recommendation?

Looking for something that is very easy to use, more for the home cook and ideally, that will allow me to upload my current recipes.

You can also use Blurb  a great cookbook application is also avaialable for publishing.

  • Learning to create a cooking recipe App

    I would like to learn how to create a Mac app for managing cooking recipes similar to MacGourmet.  Over the years I have used many Windows and Mac cooking programs.  Most are good but I would like to assemble features I prefer.  I assume it must be database driven.  I know how to write websites (but not  javascript) using Dreamweaver and I took a few SQL classes years ago. I do enjoy working with computers. With Lion coming soon, I would like to learn using the latest OS.  Eventually I would like to distribute and perhaps sell my program. 
    I must wait until the upcoming fall semester to enroll in any college courses.  I thought about starting at lynda.com with Objective-C Essential Training or perhaps a few books. 
    Any help to get started would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Books on Cocoa...ok. Books on iOS...don't bother. Pay the dev fees and use the resources there.

  • Suggestions for a cooking recipe web server application

    I have my own web server running the WordPress software for our family blog. I'd like to run a web server application that will allow us to add and view cooking recipes. The only thing I've been able to find so far are three WordPress plugins: one is out of date, and the other two integrate rather awkwardly with WordPress.
    I'm looking for something rather simple: a web server application I can run to allow us to easily see our family recipes. A stand alone application (not a WordPress plugin) is actually preferred. Well, actually, any suggestion about any possible solution is preferred.
    Does anyone know of a cooking recipe web server application?

    (By the way, the reason I keep saying "cooking recipe" is because, apparently, "recipe" means something special in the web development world. Makes doing Internet searches for my problem a little tricky. )

    There might be a Django app for that. You can plug Django apps in one big project (ex. a blog, cooking recipes, portfolio, etc). I can't explain it well, you might want to read about Django on the official website.

  • IPad User Guide "Chocolate Chip Cookies" Recipe

    In the "iPad Users Guide", at the top of page 17, there's a graphic demoing the app "Notes".
    What's written there is a chocolate chip cookie recipe, but it's too small to read.
    So I screengrabbed that page, blew it up & copied down the recipe.
    Here, forthwith, it is ....
    Chocolate Chip Cookies
    2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 cup butter (softened)
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1 cup packed brown sugar
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    2 eggs
    1 cup oatmeal
    2 cups chocolate chips
    Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts
    Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Beat butter, sugar and
    vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs, mix well. Add flour gradually. Stir in
    oatmeal, chips and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto baking sheet. Bake at
    375 degrees for 9 to 11 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes.

    I decided to give Netflix a call about this problem.
    On a recording while waiting for a support rep, it said if you're having problems logging in to go to:

    It works for me. Now I have to logon everytime I go to their site though versus it had kept me already logged in before this problem.
    I will be using that link to get to their site until they get it fixed.

  • Recipes app iPhone?

    Hi!
    I have been sarching for an app where I can create my own recipes (pictures and text) via computer and have it synced into my iPhone. In this app I also want to get a grocery list for the recipes that I choose. I go grocery shopping once a week and instead of writing the groceries down each time, I would like to have them automatically added. Example:
    Week 10
    I choose 5 dinners = Meal A, B, C, D, E.
    In meal A you need 500g minced meat, 2 potatoes.
    When I choose this meal I want to have 500g minced meat and 2 potatoes added to the grocery list.
    Does anyone know if this exists? I have searched but not found anything that is near this. Not Bento either... I am so sick and tired of having the recipes on either google doc (awesome Note in iPhone), print outs in a folder or in the recipe books. I want it all electronically. Planning to put an iPad on the cupboard in my kitchen. I often google recipes and want to "copy paste" them into the recipe app.

    Adobe Reader does not support iCloud at the moment. You can share your documents by saving them to Acrobat.com.  Acrobat.com documents can be accessed across iOS, Android and the a desktop browser.

    I downloaded the Today tv show recipe app and hate it.  Does anyone know how to delete apps that are awful?

    Tap and hold on the app until it wiggles. The apps that can be deleted will show an X in the upper left corner. Tap the X an the app will be deleted from your iPad. You should be able to download it again for free should you want it back.

  • Recipe App Wanted

    I'm planning to purchase an iPhone soon and have been searching for applications I might want to get along with the phone. I've browsed through the lists in the iTunes store for recipe and cookbook apps but can't seem to find one quite like what I'm looking for. Are there any available that come without a database of already-installed recipes, or one with a database that's easily erased? What I'd like to use the app for is basically storage and compilation of my own recipes, and occasionally a recipe from another source. I don't want thousands of recipes I'll never use cluttering up the app's database. I could use a notes or memo app for a very basic version of this but something more highly organizable and searchable by names and ingredients (like some existing apps allow) would be fantastic. Any suggestions on apps I could try out, or even a way to do this myself, would be greatly appreciated.

  • Recipe app on the TX2Z notebook

    We were looking tthe TX2Z as a kitchen recipe book, but I noticed that the recipe software does not come bundled with it. Is it available for download?

    Firstly you need Touchsmart 3.0 UI installed, I don't think it runs on TS 2.0 UI.
    Do a search in the drivers and download for "Touchsmart 600-1055", then either from the 64bit or 32 bit, you'll find an update for recipe box.
    1. Download sp44419.exe
    2. Use winrar and extract to sp44419\
    3. Then from the sp44419\src extract using winrar HPTSRB.exe
    4. then copy sp44419\src\HPTSRB\hp\tmp\DefaultAppSettings\Top\* to C:\HP\TS\DefaultAppSettings\
    5. Now double click on the sp44419\src\HPTSRB\hp\tmp\install.cmd
    6. Copy the command.exe file in c:\hp\bin to c:\hp\bin\cmd.exe and then re-run sp44419\src\HPTSRB\hp\tmp\install.cmd as this file contains a typo running cmd.exe instead of command.exe.  Needs this to regedit...
    7. Once you have re-ran it, you need to register the recipe box app...
    cd \pro*-86*\hew*-*\touch*\smart*
    RegisterSmartCenterApp updateconfig C:\HP\TS\DefaultAppSettings\RecipeBox_ebde755e-0a00-4f16-8f56-b5a4be10a96b.xml
    7. Start touchsmart and you should see it as a large tile last on the right.
    8. Let me know if it works! if it does then kudos~!

  • Keyboard app recommendation

    The standard Android keyboards don't do non-Roman languages, which I need for some of my work, so I've looked into keyboard apps in Google Play. For several months I used GO Keyboard, which is quite good; but recently it began pushing a large number of ads (see this thread). I went looking again, and found Smart Keyboard, which has a free trial (fully functional, nag screen, but no ads) and an ad-free, nag-free paid version ($2.65 as of this date). Here's a short review for those who may be interested:
    Smart Keyboard is highly customizable, with many options for appearance and functionality, including layout (normal, T9, compact); transparency; adding or removing a domain key (.com, etc.), mic key, and others; resizing keys; skins; etc. The multilingual functions are easy to use and customize. Two of my favorite features: (1) You can use text prediction/autotext and non-Roman keyboards on a physical keyboard if your phone is so equipped (switching languages with Shift+Space). (2) Long-pressing a key on the virtual keyboard inserts the alt character, e.g., long-pressing a inserts @, d inserts $; this saves a lot of switching to the symbol keyboard! There are a couple of things that could be improved: (1) add a key to take the virtual keyboard off the screen; (2) the Hebrew keyboard layout is very odd, unlike any I've ever seen, nonintuitive and hard to get used to. Overall, though, I recommend it very highly. If you can deal with the buy-me nag screens on occasion, the trial version works great. I think it's well worth the $2.65, though, especially if you have professional needs for non-Roman languages.

    Now that IOS 8 allows for this sort of application to be done. Anybody hear of an app that could do the mentioned?

  • Need an App recommendation

    I would like recommendations for the best application help me allow access to a group of documents on a shared drive from an IPhone. We use Iphones in our medicine group and I want to place some frequently used documents in a folder on a shared drive for use by physicians for reference. These documents need to be updated monthly, so I would like to keep them in one place and each time they sync up their phones the most updated documents would be in a folder on their phone. Any suggestions, comments, recommendations would be appreciated. Most of these are not tech savvy individuals, so the simpler, the better.

    I don't think that there are applications that work exactly the way you describe, as the sync for anything that will do what you want (like AirSharing or Documents to Go) requires a manual sync process on a local network that is not all that easy. One app that will achieve the objective but not the process is EverNote (www.evernote.com). It lets you store documents on its servers that can be accessed via the Evernote client from a PC, Mac, iPhone or web browser. Another to consider that is somewhat similar is livedrive (www.livedrive.com). It also has an iPhone client that allows access to content stored on its servers.

  • Map/gps app recommendations

    I have a 3rd generation ipad, wifi only. I'd like to use it for a walking/mapping aid around cities on an upcoming road trip. I know I'll need some kind of GPS receiver for it and also a map app. Does anyone have recommendations as to which (and whether there's a particular combination that work well together)?
