    Hi,
You can try the steps from this link below and check if it helps. Moreover after that error comes up if you immediately hit enter the computer will load to windows. Once in Windows you can download the latest BIOS update as that from HP Support and Drivers and install it.

If problem continues then you may have to get the fan replaced. If the computer is still under warranty then you can call HP Tech Support for repair.
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

  • Message on bootong the laptop that cooling fan is not operating correctly

tell me ..how can I resolve my laptop problem

Bend out a paperclip and put it in the fan grille so it holds the fan blades. At the same time, take a can of compressed air and blow it in there. This may loosen a dust clog and allow the fan to spin correctly. If that does not work all you can do is disassemble the unit and replace the fan.

  • 'Cooling fan is not operating correctly' - System Fan (90B) - HP Envy 14 2002ea

    Hi
I just bought this laptop off of someone and am having this error appear at startup. It only appears on fresh startup, not if I restart.
I can hear the fan working and it's not particularly noisy, although it is on continuously. Is this normal? I also have an Envy 14 1050ea and the fan in that is running quieter and also definitely cooler. Although the Envy 1050ea is i5 and the 2002ea is i7.
I thought it might need a BIOS uprade for the 2002ea but turns out the latest is already installed (F.0F).
Has anyone else had and/or managed to rectify this problem? Don't really want my laptop to melt on me...
    Thanks

Try a hard reset. Remove battery and AC plug; hold down power button 30 seconds. Wait 30 seconds. Plug in AC. Power on. Also try going into the BIOS (F10) and reset to default settings. Lastly take a bent-out paperclip and stick it in the fan grille to hold it from spinning out of control. Now blow in some strong compressed air. If none of this works, the fan needs to be replaced. The part is cheap but it requires significant disassembly.

  • Cooling fan is not operating properly.

I am using hp pavilion dv6 3123 tx with windows 7 ultimate os installed. I recently updated the bios via hp support assistant  and i don't know whether the bios is updated or not and after two  days ,I got a message while booting the system that the cooling fan is  not operating properly and it also shows the error message code (90b). Is it safe to use the laptop with a external cooler pad and my laptop is not getting heated too much while using with the cooler pad but before updating the bios too my laptop used to get overheated and it took time to boot. Before updating too i got blank screen while booting up and while playing games it  hung too.
I don't know the error message occured was due to updation of bios or not and i also need to know can i use my laptop for final year project work with external cooler pad.can i give my laptop for service.

  • Fan is not operating

    Dear Sirs,
I'm from São Carlos / SP / Brazil and I bought a TouchSmart Notebook HP ENVY 17-j041nr in Orlando at the Microsoft Store in Millenia Mall 30/10/2013.
However, the unit is experiencing the following error:
"The system has detected the cooling fan is not operating Correctly.
Continued operation is not recommended and may cause unpredictable behavior That Could Result in random shutdown, possible data loss or system damage. The system will shutdown in 15 seconds. To Prevent shutdown operation and continues operation, press the Enter key now.
System Fan <908> ENTER - Continue Startup "
The unit is still under warranty according to data from HP:
HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j041nr (response from the HP website: The following information is provided for your product)
Warranty Status: Covered under warranty Warranty end 10/30/2014 (YYYY-MM-DD) Date
I would like to know, please, what to do?
    Best regards,

    Hello Vadoalmeida,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you have questions about warranty service for your ENVY 17-j041nr. The good news is that HP has a Global Warranty, but their are some restrictions. The Global Warranty basically means your product will receive warranty coverage based on the available coverage in your current location. For more detailed information you can view the Global Warranty and FAQs page.
For more specific information about the error you have you can view this document specifically for System Fan (90b) error message on startup. This document has a list of steps you can try before contacting support for service.
If the document above does not help you resolve the issue I would suggest contacting phone support for service options. You can contact support in Brazil at this phone number: 0-800-709-7751 - Support is only available in Portuguese for this region.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Will my PowerBook G4 12-Inch not boot if fan is not operational?

I'm just wondering, is there a boot disabler if fan is not operational?
I've been having fan problems lately. The fan blade was scraping up against the metal, making it sound like 1000 angry hornets were attempting to escape my laptop. But, last class, my PB just wouldn't start. I attempted a verbose boot in openfirmware but that did nothing. I thought it was a shot hard drive, and that isn't out of the question (hard drives don't last forever) But just a few minutes ago, right after the startup sound, I listened closely to my PB. I heard the fan turn on and off a few times then the grey screen came on and there was no fan noise anymore. The booting cannot pass the grey screen. No Apple logo, just a blank, grey screen. I can boot into OpenFirmware and I can also boot into the Startup Manager.
Any help with this is muchly appreciated,
    -t

You may have seen this note about the gray screen at boot time.

  • Cooling fan not operated correctly

i am getting a message on start up  - " The system has detected the cooling fan function operated not correctly"

We need the model number please. Can you get past the message or does it block you from booting? Remove the battery and AC adapter. Get a paperclip and stick it in the fan outlet grille to hold the fan blades from spinning. Blow in compressed air. Now hold down the power button 30 seconds. Now connect AC and boot to BIOS (F10). As you leave the BIOS reset to default settings and see if we can clear the message. If not the fan needs to be replaced.

  • Cooling fan not operating correctly

Upon pushing the start button the laptop displays a black screen with the message that system fan 90b is not working correctly. The fan seems to make no noise and may possibly be dead. It tried to start up once without displaying that message, but showed it all other times. Would like to know if it would be possible to confirm that fan is indeed dead before I attempt to replace it, and also how difficult replacing it myself would be, as opposed to having a professional do it.
Problem started after attempting to clean computer's vents with vacuum. Wondering about proper cleaning method, had been previously advised canned air could make the fans turn in reverse and cause damage. Have cleaned laptop vents with vacuum in past and experienced no problems.
It's a Presario CQ56 running Windows 7 Home Premium, had it for 2-3 years and never experienced this sort of problem before, although computer sometimes runs hot and slow. Had laptop's screen replaced once because I dropped it, other than that never had it repaired as far as I remember.

  • When i turned on my notebook a message indicated that a system fan (90b) was not operating correctly

When I turn on my HP Pavilion G7 - running Windows 7 -  notebook an error screen comes on saying that a system fan is not working with what seems like an error code of 90B.  I can continue through to startup normally, but the message indicates that it may cause malfunctions to do so.  How do I resolve this problem?

Try to use a can of compressed air in the reverse direction of the normal air flow with the computer off. A dust/lint/hair matt can accumulate on the inside of the heatsink near the fan blades.

  • Cooling fan is not working on Satellite Pro A300

    Hi Everyone
I was asked by a friend to repair their Satellite Pro A300, as their CPU Cooling Fan had stopped working even during POST bootup and the laptop would overheat and shutdown. So I thought it could one of three things:
    # Fan is clogged with dust or dirt
    # Fan bearing has failed
    # Fan power cable was loose
So I disassembled the laptop and cleaned the fan/heatsink using compressed air and checked the power connection which was solid, but this did not solve the problem, so I replaced the fan and heatsink with another one that I knew worked from the same model laptop that had a fault motherboard because of the random bios boot-up password bug (out of warranty) but still no joy.
I am beginning to believe that the fan was perfectly fine rather the motherboards cpu temperature sensor(s) that control the fan activation has failed.
Am I correct, in thinking that this is basically, irreparable without specialised tools and my friend will have content themselves with turning the system off every hourish or is there something else I am overlooking?
    Thank you, for any help.

    Hello
Im not a technician but for me it sounds like that fan connector is malfunctioning if you have already replaced the fan and therefore it would be necessary to replace the mainboard
Thats everything what I can say about this Have a look for second mainboard or notebook where you can get a cheap mainboard. Maybe it works. :)
