Cooling problems with Satellite A300-1B0: ventilator is not stopping

Hi users,
i m new in Linux and Ubuntu, i installed ubuntu 8.10 last week;
All things are ok, boot menu ok because i have XP, network connection ethernet and wireless, updates ok, packages ok!
just one thing that make me "" it's the cooling ventilator of my laptop, i explain :
it's turned on since i login ubuntu and it will be off only when i log off "shutt down" my laptop, so it's never stopping till
the use of ubuntu, because with xp it's start but if the processor is cold it's stop! and restart and etc.......
So if someone have an idea you're WELCOME !
My laptop configuration :
TOSHIBA satellite A300-1B0
processor: core 2 duo T8100 2.1 Ghz
RAM: 3 Go
SATA hard drive
ethernet Marvell Yukon 88E8040T
Wireless Intel
and i have patched it with the last bios from toshiba site
Date of the bios publcation 07 2008 v3.7

Hi,
I own a Toshiba Satellite A300-19T which comes with a Core 2 Duo T8100, 3Gb of RAM and an ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics card and guess what? I'm having the same issue!
I have spent a fairly nice amount of time trying to figure out what's going on and I've been suspecting the CPU fan for a long time. I went from enumerating the custom drivers Toshiba is installing the the machine to de-compiling the ACPI table using Intel's tools: NOTHING! (expect the fact that the BIOS isn't really ACPI compliant but much more Microsoft Windows Vista only compliant).
Then I discovered that the GPU (the Radeon HD 3650) may also have a fan attached to it to cool it down, because you know, it can be such a source of heat and that noise under Linux means that the GPU fan is actually spinning all the time, non stop, causing discomfort, a lot of noise and all. To prove this, I made a simple experiment, I went back to Windows Vista and uninstalled the ATI Catalyst driver (you can reinstall them later, they are located in C:\Toshiba folder) and rebooted the machine: I had the fan spinning all the time under Vista just like Linux!
What is causing the issue is the GPU, not the CPU! and it's due to bad GPU power management on Linux since a driver doesn't exist yet. The only way to solve this is by asking Toshiba to release the documentation about the GPU power management and fan control, so that the community can write a driver for it.
Could you please confirm my finding? Which graphics card do you have installed in your laptop?
Regards,
Ilyes Gouta.
