Copied music from my husband's iTunes is showing up Track01, etc

Hello,
This evening I wanted to copy some songs from my husband's iTunes library.  I selected the songs, made a playlist from them, then copied the playlist to a CD.  When I imported the CD into my iTunes, all the songs show up as Track 01, etc, no song name or artist.
What did I do wrong??
Thanks!!

Yes, correct....I did use an audio CD.  We do have a memory stick, but I am not sure how to import from that into iTunes library.  Is that something you could easily explain?  Or perhaps the direct transfer option?
Sorry, I am reasonably computer literate, but not very iTunes savvy....I just know the basics.  Beyond that, well I try to leave that to the experts such as yourself!!
Thanks in advance for any additional help you can give.....the playlist in question comprises several albums and probably over 50 songs, so having to try to go back and look up each track name, album title, etc. would be a very painstaking process.  Being able to transfer ALL the data would definitely be the way to go!
Kind regards, and thanks!

    Hello there, gleab.
The following Knowledge Base article reviews the ways to import content into iTunes:
Adding music and other content to iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1473
Also keep in mind which formats can be added:
You can add audio files that are in AAC, MP3, WAV, AIFF, Apple Lossless, or Audible.com (.aa) format. If you have unprotected WMA content, iTunes for Windows can convert these files to one of these formats.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • How to copy music from the iPod to iTunes ??

    Hello,
I use iTunes since some months and have bought several songs at iTunes. Now I also bought an iPod and copied the music from iTunes to my iPod.
Because my harddisk was almost full I deleted most songs in my iTunes directory because I thought it is possible to copy music from the iPod to iTunes ... i.e. I thought that the music on my iPod is like a backup.
But now I it seems impossible to copy music back to my computer. Are all those sond lost ?
Dear experts: Is there any possibility to get my music back to my computer ?
    I hope someone can help.
    Regards
    Michael

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve individual music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

Thank you again for all of your help!! I really appreciate it!
I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.
Thank you for letting me know about my contacts! How do I know if I have the contacts app?
Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

  • Old iTunes deleted, new iTunes doesn't have all of my music, can I copy music from my iPhone to iTunes without syncing

Help, computer returned from being fixed, everything has been deleted. Can you import music from iPhone 4 into new iTunes (old iTunes deleted) without syncing phone.

My computer HDD did not crash only my external drive with the music files.  I have not had to reinstall iTunes software.  The iTunes libarary is still complete and shows the complete list of music.  I have also ran Update iTunes Match and all of the music is on the cloud.
I cannot play the music from iTunes that is on the cloud, however the music I purchased from iTunes did download and it will plan from my computer.
The matched or uploaded music is what will not download and I can't find a command that allows me to download from Match.
Sorry if I'm not being very clear, however I do really appreciate your help and suggestions.

I am not an expert, but assuming that you have a Windows or Mac folder with music in it and want to move that to a new laptop, I think you have to import it into iTunes. iTunes needs to associate each file with a link, so copying it over will not associate a link.
Delete the files and try importing.

  • How can I keep the file/ album names when copying music from the Finder to iTunes?

    Hi,
Is there a possibility to keep the file names one uses in the Finder when adding music to iTunes?
[e.g. that a Beethoven symphony still ends up under 'Beethoven/ symphony No./' and not under the name of the orchestra/ dirigent]
    Thanks in advance
    Kath

Yes.  Go into Preferences and make sure that "Keep..." and '"Copy..." are both not checked.  Then put the file(s) where you want them (preferably somewhere in your iTunes Media folder) and use the command File > Add File (or Folder) to Library.
Try this first with a file or two so you can see that it keeps the same file name as it adds to your library.

  • Possible to copy music from ipod shuffle to itunes?

Friend of mine has an ipod shuffle that is loaded with songs from another computer. She wanted me to add some songs to it from my computer. When I plug it in, tells me in order to sync it with my itunes I have to erase the shuffle and basically start over. Is there a way to download the songs on there now to my itunes so I don't have to go get them all again to put back on there?

Not with itunes - shuffles especially are designed to only work with one PC. Look at the 8th list item from this FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2018
All of the ipod models are designed to stop people from sharing music, like you're trying to do. Sync is one way: from PC to ipod. The exception is the transfer purchases feature, where purchases can go to a PC that's authorized for the itunes account that made the purchases.

  • Is there a way of copying music from the ipod

my pc got wiped so i need a way of copying music from my ipod to itunes is there a way?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • HT1473 Copy music from CDs to iTunes library without a CD drive

I have a Macbook without a CD drive (purchased in winter 2012-13); my husband has a Mac desktop (few years old). I'd like to copy some music from CDs to my iTunes library for listening on my iPhone (4S) and Mac (and, perhaps, one day, iPad). My husband says that if we insert one of the CDs into his Mac and copy/import it, it will only go into HIS iTunes library. If that's so, how can I get the music from his library into my Macbook.
If that's not so, how do we specify where the copied files should go so that I can access them? I'm not totally Apple-savvy, so please bear with me on this!?

Import them into his computer, then copy them from his iTunes Music folder to your computer via Home Sharing - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3819 - (probably the easiest), file sharing, or an external storage device such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive. If you use any method other than Home Sharing, just drag the tracks into the iTunes window on your computer.
You posted in the iTunes for Windows forum, by the way. Just FYI for future questions.
    Regards.

  • How can I copy music from iTunes to a 2nd iPhone 5?

I have my own iPhone 5 that i have synced and set up with my itunes on my macbook pro.  My wife recently got an iphone 5 (thru her work) that i want to copy music from my itunes library to her phone.  We share the same itunes acct and she is able to make purchases with it and download songs that i have purchased via itunes to her phone.  I would like to manage and copy over addiontal music (most of which i had bought on my own and imported into itunes) and copy playlists etc to her phone.
She has not synced her phone to my (or any) computer. When i hook up her iphone to my macbook and open itunes, it prompts me to "set up new iphone" either as a brand new phone or from a backup.  can i get around this, so i can manage the music on her iphone without deleting and "setting up from scratch her phone"?  I have read that i can manually manage everything on her phone separately from my phone... so her apps aren't on my phone and vice versa?  I really just want to put my music on there.
I have heard of some other apps (ie songbird) but prefer to keep everything working under itunes.
    Thanks

Not brand new... New to that Mac's iTunes. For registration if you will...
Setup the iPhone as a new device to get past the initial part. iTunes will know that the device is already set up and you can go from there.

  • Unable to copy music from Mac to Windows PC using Home Sharing on iTunes 12

    Hi all,
I use both a Macbook Pro and a Windows PC.  I am trying to copy music from my Macbook Pro onto my PC within iTunes 12 using HomeSharing but seem to be unable to do this.
When I connect to the Mac library on the PC, I can play the tracks without any issue.  But when I try to drag the song to the side to copy to the PC , nothing happens.  I don't get the window that should pop up on the left of the screen and there is no option for Import at the bottom of the screen either.
I am however able to copy music from the PC to the Mac without an issue.  The window pops up on the left when I drag the track within my Mac, and the Import button shows up on the bottom of the screen.  It is only when I want to copy from the Mac to the PC.
I have checked the Sharing tab in preferences, and on both systems it is enabled.  I tried disabling and then re-enabling.
I am also unable to using the download Purchased items in iTunes, as my Mac and PC are connected to different iTunes accounts.  Both machines are authorised to play both accounts though.
    Any advice?

  • How do I copy music from my iPod mini to iTunes?

I accidentally deleted music from iTunes and can't find the original CD. The music is on my iPod mini, but I can't copy the music from the mini to iTunes. Help, please. Thanks!
    PC   Windows XP

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
