Copy a folder (that contains mp3s) then import said songs into iTunes?

I have made an automator-created folder action that will, when a folder, which contains an album of MP3s, is dropped into a certain folder, the folder of songs will be copied into another folder and then I want those songs to be added to iTunes.
The action works fine for copying, but it won't add the songs to iTunes. My workflow is as follows, though I've tried different things to try and add the songs:
1) Copy finder items to folder "To Sort"
2) Get folder contents.
3) Add songs to playlist "Library"
Can anyone help me out on this?
Thanks!

I believe you need to use the "Add Files to Playlist" instead of the "Add Songs to Playlist". The latter command is used when the songs are already in iTunes.

  • I can't import any songs into iTunes.

I can't import any songs into iTunes. I can drag and drop but nothing will happen. Songs show up when a search is done but songs cannot be played or located in iTunes. I think this has something to do with the recent update because I have songs imported into iTunes from December.

I found the problem. I have VMware fusion that is hosting Window XP on the iMac. When the fusion is running the CD player is not seen in OS. By quitting Fusion I can now insert a CD and the disk icon appears on the OS screen. Now I can bring up iTunes and import the audio and continue as before. The one exception is I cannot bring in a photo of the album cover as before I have to drag the photo out of iPhoto and onto the desk top. Then I can drag it into the artwork patch in the iTunes/ info window.

  • How to import multiple songs into iTunes

    Hello there...
I am fairly new to iTunes and am becoming frustrated with this particular issue. Prior to using iTunes, I used Kazaa, where whenever a song was added to My Shared Folder, Kazaa would update the library instantly. I want to have the same sort of thing with iTunes. For example, one of my friends filled my USB drive with music today. When I came home and plugged it into my computer, I dragged and dropped all the songs into my iTunes Music folder. I expected them to appear in the library, but they're not there. I don't know how to add them all to iTunes without importing them one by one. I suppose in this case I could import my entire USB drive folder, but what if someone sends me a handful of songs as an email attachment or over MSN? How do I import those?
    Thank you!

iTunes for windows doesn't "Watch" folders and files for changes like other programs. You need to goto File>add folder to library so it will "Piont" iTunes to where the music is located on the system.

  • How can I copy a music CD to a blank CD on my iMac without importing the songs into my itunes?

So far the solutions I have seen suggest to import the songs into iTunes, create a playlist, and then burn this playlist to a blank CD.
However, I don't want these songs in my playlist. My mother-in-law asked me to make a copy for her and it is her type of music which i don't want in my iTunes.
Is there any way I can copy these songs without importing them first?
    Thanks!

No, unless you use the copy function in Roxio Toast.
You could try via Disk Utility but you may be thwarted by copy protection.
Of course, there is nothing to stop you deleting those tracks from iTunes after you have made the copy!

  • Importing Lala downloads into iTunes

Can someone explain the best workflow to download from lala and import the songs into iTunes. I'm not clear exactly how to do this.

A little digging under download folder came up with this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1347
So with Safari set to send downloads to the download folder (which is the default) I just open iTunes,
click on File: Add to Library, navigate to the download folder in the small finder window, then highlight the downloads and select Music:itunes folder for destination and done.

How to import photos from a folder that contains hundreds of folders to Photos keeping the same folder structure?

You'll have to do that manually, i.e. export each album of photos to a folder with the same name located on your hard drive via  the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.

  • Message: please select folder that contains your Adobe GoLive files

Hi, I'm really new to DW 5, I did use DW when it first came out and started to get the hang of some things, but my learning was not going as fast as I needed it to go. So I have two questions, I have searched the forums for my answers but I'm getting them in bits and peices and have also found the same question I'm about to ask, but didn't see an answer.
Anyways, first; I'm using OS X (updated to 10.6.5) I was using "GoLive" but in the middle of updating the site, GL would crash, it wasn't from anything inperticular, it would just crash, it was always around 4-5 minutes of using it. So I started using "GoLive CS" it had been working great until today, GL CS is now starting to crash on me, doesn't matter what I'm doing, it's just a time thing.
Is there anything to fix this bug?
I think I might know why, and I could be wrong.......... that this is a compatable issue, but I'm not sure. I think because they are not providing anymore updates for GoLive (any version) that pretty soon I might not even be able to use it at all, but if I'm wrong, Please help.
Now if my thoughts are correct on the first question, then can some one please help me with this message I get when trying to "Migrate" my site from Golive to Dreamweaver.
My first question tonight was going to be why do my pages look like there is nothing on the when I open any page in Dreamweaver when I saw the post about migrating your site to Dreamweaver.
I downloaded the extension for Dreamweaver, I installed it but when I go to migrate the "site" it gives me this message.
Message: please select folder that contains your Adobe GoLive files
I came back to the forums to reread the post, but what it says to change in yoour files, I can't find. It says something about changing your "root" file.
I can't find what to change.
I kind of like GoLive better, at least right now, but I tryed to use DW tonight to really compair the two, I got CS5 about 5 months ago which included Dreamweaver CS5, so I thought I would give it a try utill I opened it and all of my pages were blank. But I still didn't give up and now this is where I am.
Thanks for any help, sorry for such a long posting, but I would really like to see if I like DW with out starting all over and having to rebuild my sites from scratch in DW.

My sites were created in GoLive (i think version 6), but it started to crash, so I switched to GoLive CS (i think this is version 7).
It was working fine until yesterday. Yesterday GoLive CS started to crash, so I decided to give DreamWeaver a try since it came with the version of CS5 that I bought about 4-5 months ago.
Yes, I downloaded and installed the extention from the link, the one that talks about Dreamweaver CS4, and I also read this on that page (below is what I copied from the page)
    ========================================================================================== ===
Note also: If you created your site with GoLive CS (7)  or older and then upgraded to GoLive CS2 (8) or GoLive 9, you may  experience problems with the GoLive Migration Kit extension for  Dreamweaver CS4. If this is the case, try renaming the following:
    Rootfolder-fd > web-content
    Rootfolder-fd.settings > web-settings
    Rootfolder-fd.data > web-data
    ========================================================================================== ===
    I looked for "Rootfolder-fd -fd.setting and fd.data" I can't find them.
I was going to try and change them.

  • I have the latest version IPAD.  In Garage Band I am trying to import karaoke songs purchased on itunes so that I can sing with them via garage band.  In Garage Band, when I try in import a song from Itunes, nothing comes up?  How do I do this...?

I have the latest version IPAD.  In Garage Band I am trying to import karaoke songs purchased on itunes so that I can sing with them via garage band.  In Garage Band, when I try in import a song from Itunes, nothing comes up?  How do I do this...?

Make sure you understand the difference between an Audio File and a GarageBand Project File (also known as GarageBand Song File)
The + sing in the My Songs page is for opening a GarageBand Project File, either a new one or one that is copied vie the iTunes File Sharing mechanism. If I understand you right, then you want to import an Audio File from your iTunes library in a GarageBand Project and not open an existing GarageBand Project.
To import an Audio File from your iTunes Library to an existing GarageBand Project.
Make sure you sync your iTunes Library (all songs or a selection) to your iPad. This is the standard procedure so you can listen to your iTunes Library on your iPad (this step has nothing to do with GarageBand yet)
Once you are in your GarageBand Project, tap the Loop Browser icon (the ribbon) to open the Loop Browser
The misleading part here is that this window can display three tabs, not only the Apple Loops. It also displays any synced audio file via the iTunes Fle Sharing (the tab is labeled "Audio Files) and also any songs that you have synced to yoyr iPad that I just described. This tab is now called "Music".
Look at the screenshot of my previous post. The Music tab provides the same browsing capabilities (Playlists, Artist, etc) as your iTunes.
Navigate to the Kareoke Song (audio file) and drag it onto a GarageBand audio track
I explain all those details and concepts in my GarageBand book
    Hope that helps

  • Audio CD burning error- I opted for importing songs into iTunes as MP3

    Hi,
Before I started importing songs into iTunes, I chose int eh iTunes preferences to import all songs as MP3, as I wanted the option of being able to burn CDs to play on my car MP3 player.
When I tried to burn a CD, I got an error message that these songs could not be burnt onto the CD. This had the option where I could see all the errors and the list was of all the songs that I was trying to burn.
BTW, I created a new playlist, dragged the required songs to this playlist from the library and pressed the burn disc option.
What am I doing wrong? Could it be that the drive is faulty?

First of all, how long is the total time of all songs? If it is more than 80 minutes, you can't record to the CD as an audio CD. If that is the case, and you say you have an MP3 cd player in your car... you might want to try burning to the disc as an MP3 CD. Go to iTunes preferences, then click "Advanced," then "Burning" and you'll see an option for "MP3 CD." Click that, and then when you burn the disc, you can put as many songs as will fit onto the disc.
Also, rewritable CDs aren't any better... as a matter of fact, a lot of audio CD players can't read them. A regular CD-R should be fine, even one rated at 40x speed.

Happens all the time and you are probably correct about cause.
Some CD manufacturers use various forms of copy protection on discs designed to interfere with computers reading the discs. I have found iTunes to be very picky about this too. I have had several discs iTunes would not acknowledge but could rip with another program. Other times the fix is as simple as cleaning the disc ro turning on error correction for the ripping process.

    Hi there.
Have an iphone 3G and wen to install the Facebook app from the app store. Wen I selected install app, it said that the iphone requires IOS 4.3.
I then plugged the phone into itunes and it said the phone was up to date (IOS 4.2.2 I think it said?). How can i install these apps, the same happened and other apps i tried to install. Any advice would be much apprecaited

Unfortunately there is nothing that you can do and you CAN'T install these apps becuse your phone is too old.  A 3G cannot be updated beyond iOS 4.2, which is the most it can support and these apps need iOS 4.3 or above to be installed and there are no versions of these apps available.
Developers have to place a cut off somewhere and keep developing for the most recent software that does not now include the 3G.
If you want to install these apps on your phone, then you will have to upgrade to either an iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 4, 4s or 5.  That is all you can do because you won't be able to download these apps on an iPhone 3G - just not possible any longer.

  • I can't import a song from iTunes to an iPhoto slideshow.

I'm trying to import a song as background music in a slideshow, and the song plays just fine in iTunes, but when I try to add it to my slideshow, I get the message "The (name of song) could not be used because the original file could not be located."  How can it play in iTunes, but not in iPhoto?  I tried "Get Info" to see where the original file was kept and then dragged it into the iTunes music folder, but that didn't work.  I've never had this happen with any other song. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I don't build slide shows, so not sure how hard it is to do in iDVD, but you can burn a song to CD and then rip it back into iTunes. Then you can edit the song in Garage Band. You might want to do this with a number of songs that you might use in one sitting, as it's pretty tedious.
One other thought: check if Amazon has the mp3 of the same song. The content there is not protected (I think the music producers cut that deal just to stick it to Apple) and is $0.99 per song like on iTunes. Might be worth another buck to avoid all this hassle. iTunes is easier to search and buy from (IMO) and has a better selection, but you might get lucky at Amazon. I've ended up buying the same song again at Amazon just for this reason.

  • Can't import edited song from iTunes to iPhoto

    Hi,
I've created a slideshow in iPhoto and a playlist in iTunes to go with the slideshow. I shortened one of the songs in the playlist from 4.5 minutes to 1.5 minutes (file-get info-options). Within iTunes the song is shortened but when I import the playlist to iPhoto the song reverts back to its original length. I realise there is a workaround using iDVD (when I import the song into iDVD it stays at 1.5 minutes unlike iPhoto) but it means I have to redo the whole slideshow again which I'd prefer to avoid.
Has anyone any suggestions how to shorten a song for a slideshow within iPhoto?

I am having problems importing some CDs into iTunes on a laptop with Windows 8. Most CDs import without problem. The ones I can't import can be imported into iTunes with Windows 7. Does anybody know why this problem is occurring?

First-off, this seems to be a general problem with 10.4 (across all the operating systems of which I am aware).  Unfortunately, I cannot provide a permanent solution but, if you need a quick fix, this will (hopefully) work for you.
For some inexplicable reason, iTunes no longer recognises standard Windows paths.  For example:
    Y:\Music\Buddy Holly\Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
The end result is that it will import a playlist with no content.
It will, however, recognise the equivalent Apple paths which look like this:
    file://localhost/Y:/Buddy Holly/Buddy Holly - Rave On.mp3
It is possible to convert your existing playlists using a few basic replace commands in something like Notepad.  In my case, I made some code changes in my music manager and now generate two sets of playslists (one standard and one to accommodate iTunes).
Forgive me foir stating the obvious but please remember to make sure that the disk / path containing your music is accessible when doing the import otherwise you will probably get a blank result.  Note that you can do a bulk import by selecting all the (revised) playlists and dragging them onto the iTunes sidebar.
I am sorry that this is not a "clean" solution but it will work if you are in a bind.  The only alternative of which I am aware is to wait for Apple to fix the problem.
