Copy and Paste Attributes

Is it possible to cut and paste attributes between Soundtrack Pro projects?

If I understand your question correctly, then Yes, there is a very easy way to copy the attributes from one object (or text sample) to another:
In the Toolbar at the top of our Editing Window, there should be two icons: Copy Style and Paste Style. If you don't see them, then you need to go to the View Menu and select Customize Toolbar; here you can select and drag these (and any other tools you want to add) into your Toolbar.
Once you have these tools available, all you need to do is select any object, click the Copy tool to capture the style (attributes) and then when you select another object, click the Paste tool to apply them. This also works, as mentioned above, with text.
Good luck.

  • Can You Copy and Paste Attributes in FCPX?

I'm just getting started with my FCPX training, (after years of edidting in FCP).  I frequntly use the "copy and paste attributes" feature in FCP, (say you make some adjustments to a clip, you can copy these attributes and paste them on to another clip).  VERY SLICK and USFULL.  Does anybody know how this is done in FCPX?  Thanks

Similar though you don't have the same level of control as you'll notice. Copy the clip you want to use as the source and then Paste Effects- both from the Edit menu. This will copy over everything so plan things out if you want to use this feature.

  • Copying and pasting attributes and styles of text track

    Simple question,
I have two text tracks and would like to copy and pasts the attributes and style tabs in "inspector" to another text track. How could I do this without having to manually set each individual track as I create it.
    Thanks,

Did you check the opacity value in the paste attributes dialog?

  • How do I copy and paste multiple keyframes?

I've used previous versions of Final Cut in the past, but primarily have done my editing with Adobe Premiere.  One of the companies I am freelancing for only has Final Cut X on their machines.  I'm a bit confused about keyframes.  Keyframing in the inspector seems severely limited.  I could use some help.
Basic example:  Say I want to zoom and pan into an image... then have it sit there for 5 seconds... then zoom and pan back to its original location.  I can't figure out how to do this at all with Final Cut X.
In Premiere I would accomplish this extremely easily.
#1 I'd set my playhead at the location I'd like START my zoom IN/pans and set all my necessary keyframes.
#2  Then i move my playhead to where I'd like to END my zoom IN/pans, change all my parameters and this sets my necessary keyframes.
#3  I move my playhead further to where I'd like to START my zoom OUT/pans to where it originally was... and set all my necessary keyframes
#4 I move my playhead to where I'd like END my zoom OUT/pans to where it originally was... and simply copy and paste my keyframes from step 1...
The reason why I copy and paste my keyframes from step 1 is because often my parameters are very specific.  I'm not necessary zoomed in 100% at the beginning with my position set exactly where it needs to be.  Say, for instance, I'm working with an image that is zoomed at 75% and perfectly positioned at some random position somewhere in my frame... without the ability to cut and paste keyframes, I'd have to go back to keyframe 1 and write down all the parameters... then go to keyframe 4 and re-enter them.  Massive pain in the butt.
How is this properly accomplished in Final Cut X?  I can't even see my keyframes on the timeline... every tutorial I've found just says "set keyframe 1 and keyframe 2 in the inspector" and that's incredibly limiting.

That is kind of a bummer, really.  Maybe I'll need to adjust my workflow, but it seems like it's a MASSIVE drawback of Final Cut X.
    For example:
Say I have an image on the screen at with Postion X: 97.3px and Position Y:  -69.3px  with the zoom set to 136.3%... (keyframe 1)
And say I want to move that image across the screen to Postion X:  32.5px and Position Y: -23.5px with a zoom set to 85.3% ... (keyframe 2)
Then say I want to let it stay in that position for 10 seconds ... after 10 seconds I'll set more keyframes by clicking the appropriate keyframe buttons and the settings will once again be set for Postion X:  32.5px and Position Y: -23.5px with a zoom set to 85.3% ... (keyframe 3)
Now say I want it to go back to the original position and zoom.   In premiere I'd just highlight all my keyframes from Keyframe 1 and paste at the new location of the playhead... with Final Cut X, i'll need to go back to Keyframe 1 and literally write down on a piece of paper:  97.3, -69.3, 136.3% ... then go back to Keyframe 4 and type them all out.   This is just a simple example, though.   The more individual parameters I'm setting at specific points... the bigger pain this will be.   Lame.
Even with the link you shared... it appears to be completely amature compared to the keyframe editing capabilities of Premiere Pro.  In searching a bit on google to confirm the lack of features, I found someone else complaining:
"You cannot expand any parameter that has more than one attribute (like crop or scale or position) - making it useless.
You cannot add bezier handles to keyframes
You cannot copy and paste keyframes
When you copy and paste attributes, you have no choices as to how they will be pasted, etc... it is dismal.
All in all, it is a step backwards from FCP"
Personally, I'm a bit surprised... the more I learn about Final Cut X, the more I am starting to like it.  I know a lot of professionals hated it when it initially came out, but I chaulked it up to unfamiliarity with the new software.   For me, this keyframing thing is by far the biggest drawback I've found to yet.

  • PSD-layered - copy and paste properties to layers in Motion?

    Hi,
I imported a layered photoshop file into Motion.
I applied certain properties to one layer (with key frames, such as rotate, scale, shadow...) and I want to know if there is a way to copy those properties and paste them onto the other layers so I can then go in and do certain tweaks, without having to do each layer from scratch...
(This is something that you can do in FinalCut, copy and past attributes, but I can't seem to find that option in Motion.)
    Thanks

you can do this by selecting the layers with the properties you want, then in the inspector, drag and drop the parameters onto the the layer you want them applied to.

  • What about copy and paste builds?

In Keynote 2 you can copy and paste attributes which really helps if you are doing an intense project. What would have been great was if Keynote 3 offered you to copy and paste builds as well. I have read here that you can make masters and build the... builds there but what if you want to have a certain build that can be used for let's say a text object. Is there anything like this in Keynote 3?
Just bought 5 new Keynote 2 licenses so I think it will be a while before we upgrade to number 3. I loved your post Brian about not buying anything before a Mac convention. I just never saw an update to Keynote this soon. I mean there was such a delay between the first two. Oh well you learn something new every day.
There was something about Keynote 3 becoming just a player after the trial 30 days. Has anyone heard if that "player" is available now with out the trial? And if so does it play on a PC? (grin) Because you know that would be great!
    Green with Envy,
    Adion

No, you can't copy builds unless you copy the actual object...but you can set builds on the master slide for say, the body box. Not the same thing, but it's leaps better than the old way. The media guy at my church said that feature alone was worth the price of iWork 06 as it saved about 10 min setup time off each presentation he makes.

  • How do I copy and paste a shape (or layer) from one file to another keeping all of its attributes?

Our department currently uses MS Paint to place varied colored boxes for callouts on top of screen figures used in our documentation. As you know, MS Paint is not a robust image editing application, and we are frustrated at its limitations (especially not having a "non-destructive" edit capability). Consequently, we are evaluating a trial version of PS to see how a workflow could be developed that would allow the department to use callout boxes "stored" in a PS file that could be applied in an easy, consistent manner to our screen figures (but also keep each callout box editable) using PS.
Consequently, in PS using the shape tool, I created a file with our colored boxes for callouts, each on its own layer. Now I am trying to determine how you copy and paste a box (or layer) from this file to a "working" file (one containing a screen figure), while keeping all of its attributes (color, line weight, being editable, etc.). I can't seem to find an option to do this. Is there? If not, is there another workflow in PS that you can recommend for this type of procedure?

Thanks - I used the Layer > Duplicate command and it worked great!
P.S. How do you drag and drop a layer? I tried dragging a layer to the other open image, but nothing happened. Do you have to hold down a specific key for this (I'm using Windows)?

  • Copy and paste without font & size attributes

isn't there a way to copy and paste text so that it takes the attributes of the recipient app instead of the "copied" attributes? ie: I want a copied 12pt Times Word sentence to appear as the defined Filemaker field font/size when pasted into Filemaker.

isn't there a way to copy and paste text so that it takes the attributes of the recipient appThis is down to the "recipient app" to implement. For example, TextEdit has "Paste and Match Style" which does what you want. Microsoft Word has "Paste Special …" with various options. I don't know Filemaker, so don't know what is on the "Edit" menu.

  • Acrobat XI Windows 7 - unable to (copy and) paste form fields to a different pdf.

To maintain a consistent appearance and function in the forms I create for various departments, I copy a few form fields  (text, checkboxes) from an unrelated Acrobat PDF. Then I paste those fields into a different PDF document that I am making fillable.
I do this because Acrobat does not allow setting a default for certain attributes when creating form fields, i.e. an unchecked scroll option, a default font other than Helvetica (in Acrobat 8, 9, and X). Plus it is time-saving to copy and paste fields that are the same in another PDF, like name, address, phone. etc.
We just updated to Acrobat XI and Windows 7 and now I cannot paste copied fields onto a different PDF.
Using "replace pages" is not applicable as I am pasting to an entirely different form and copying form fields with the settings I use.
Is this a glitch or is something new that was not in Acrobat 8, 9, and X?
Also, question regarding this forum entry -  http://forums.adobe.com/message/5638333#5638333 - which is somewhat different from my current question.
The PDF creator could not paste copied fields on other pages of the same PDF. Was this ever resolved so that copy and paste worked as it has for the last 3 versions of Acrobat?
    Thanks!
    Joanie

Gilad:  You're right: when the fields are different, such as a checkbox and a text field, and you try to title them the same, Acrobat gives you a message. I received no messages, the field names are not the same or I missed one and Acrobat is no longer messaging about it.
My question is different. Acrobat XI will not let me paste any field copied from a different PDF.  I've been doing that for 5 years in three different versions.  Maybe Acrobat XI has a new process for that, which I could not find in Acrobat help. Maybe it's because all forms now have extended rights automatically in Acrobat XI and there is another method to copy common fields to other PDFs.
Any thoughts about the new Acrobat XI? It's different in many good ways, but different.
    Thanks for your ideas.

  • Copy and Paste the Motion

I would like to know how to Copy and Paste the Motion Parameters (i.e. scale) settings from one clip to another.

  • How the heck to I copy and paste keyframes (scaling, rotation, etc.) in motion 5?

Trying to figure out how to copy keyframes from one object to another obejct in Motion 5, and I'm left screaming pulling my hair out.
It USED to be so easy... where is the paste attributes option here?
Or can I duplicate the object and relink it to another object? Going crazy here. Any help would be great.

There are several ways to copy and paste keyframes:
    1. Select the "source object" and go to the animated parameter in the Inspector (position for example).
    2. Click and drag the parameter name you want to copy to the destination layer in the layer list via drag and drop. The values (including keyframes) will be copied to the appropriate channels.
    OR
    1. Select the source object.
    2. For each channel that is animated (position, rotation, scale) go to the far right side of the parameter in the Inspector and select "Show in keyframe editor."
    3. Select all the keyframes you want (I use a simple click and drag to create a box an select all of the keyframes) and then copy (command-c).
    4. Now select the destination layer, position the playhead where you want the keyframes to start from and paste (command-v).

If you just need to match the animation of another layer (Position, Rotation, Scale) try using the Match Move behavior.

  • Copy and Paste audio track MIX from one track to another??

    Hi
What's the best way to handle this.
I have a video with one long music track, that I mixed using Adobe Premiere's Audio Mixer.
The musician made a new version of the track with some very slight modifications in the music.
Rather than having to remix the entire new track, I would prefer to either:
    1) Copy and paste the attributes of the orginal audio track onto the new music track -- retaining the Mix I did from the original mix.  Is this possible?  I tried it once and it did not seem to work.  (I used the Mixer, not keyframes, to do all of the mix.)
    or
    2)  Is there a setting in Premiere's Audio mixer to "gang" the new track to the old one -- with the new track cloning the old track's mix.
Or would it be better to bring the two audio tracks into Soundbooth and do it there?
    Thanks,
    ...Rowby

    Thanks Colin
I did a complicated mix on one long background music track and was not looking forward to doing that remix because of various minor music changes made by the musician scattered throughout that long track.
Your Alt (for replace solution) worked perfectly and saved me a ton of time.
The fact that Copy attributes for Audio doesn't work for copying audio keyframes is another reason do do audio mixes using the Mixer instead of using keyframes to adjust volume.

P.S.   And a big LIKE to Adobe's clever programmers for including features like these.

  • Copy and Paste results in decreased video quality

I'm working on a project that was shot with two cameras. The footage from one is in HDV 1080i60, the other footage is in 1080p24. In the Bin, the footage was in quality HD appearance, and looked the same when I put it in the sequence.
I then made a second sequence and copied + pasted each individual clip from the first sequence into the second. After rendering, the footage looked like it was at widescreen standard definition. Lots of interlacing, not very smooth motion, a little blurry, etc.
I do NOT want to have to re-edit this project from scratch (the original footage is still crisp) and need to know if there is a quick fix to this HD to Standard screwup. It's frustrating that something like copying and pasting to another sequence should cause this big of a problem.
I have tried going into Sequence>Settings in the menu, where I changed the Compressor to HDV 1080i60, but this only made the frame rate really choppy, even after rendering.

On the second sequence open the sequence settings (Command 0)
There in the bottom left click on Load sequence preset.
    Choose HDV1080i60.
    OK.
If the video still looks distorted then do the following:
Make a duplicate of the sequence as backup.
Select all in the timeline. Command Option V to remove attributes.
In the pop up select: Basic Motion and Distort.
    OK
    Is it solved?

  • How can I copy and paste a clip to duplicate it?

Like the title says, I want to copy and paste a clip so that it can be duplicated in the timeline.

Now, when one has added and adjusted Effects on a Clip, they can Copy those Effects & Attributes, then Paste those to other Clips, either individually, or to many, by Selecting all, where that/those Effect(s), and Adjustments are desired. That is a somewhat similar operation, but does not Copy the Clip - just the Effects and Adjustments made to it.
Good luck, and glad that you are able to Copy & Paste the desired Clip, into another spot on your Timeline.
