Copy and paste feature request

Please God... uh, Mr. Jobs,
When in text edit mode and while viewing web pages etc., please add a button with a clipboard icon that switches into a text select mode that allows you to drag over text to select as well as double and triple tap sentances and paragraphs. Then we'll be able to select either a copy, cut or paste button.
This phone is a great tool. However, without the ability to copy text from anywhere it is very limited as a creative writing, blogging and research tool.
Hope to see it implemented soon.

I'd love cut & paste too. Otherwise how do you maintain/organize/re-organize lists on it easily...errands, tasks, to-dos, shopping lists, etc.

Though if you're requesting hardware changes for iPhone v2 you may want to wait a week (or a month?)...they're probably going to be inundated right now by requests for software changes to the current iPhone.

Copy and Paste feature

wonder why there isn't a "Copy-Paste" Feature on my iPhone. This is very mac-unlike.

I can't believe there is no Copy-Paste function either - it's a big omission.
There are other missing features too:
1 - There is no <Find> or <Search> function at all. Being used to Spotlight on Mac OSX, I expected to be able to search for keywords in text messages, contacts, notes, etc etc etc. This is a grave omission and reduces the functionality of iPhone for me. Let's say I'm looking for an electrician, and I know I have someone in my contacts, but can't remember his name. I should be able to hit <Find> and type in "electrician" - which would deliver a list of contacts and notes containing that word.
2 - There is no way to send a Contact to another phone via Bluetooth or Text message. Every other phone I've ever had (from some really old Nokia phones to the latest Sony Ericsson) had this function. You could select a contact, then open a menu and choose "send as...", and then select how to send the info, either via Bluetooth or Infrared (if applicable) or simply via SMS to another person's phone. This is VERY restrictive.
3 - As a Mac user, I am used to contextual menus everywhere. Hold <ctrl> and click and you get lots of options which relate to whatever you are doing. There are no menus at all on iPhone. I'm sure this was intentional, but it would really be useful to have menus in many areas. For example, to send a contact as noted in my point 2 above. Or to re-name a pin in Maps. Or as per this topic, to copy and paste text.
I do LOVE the phone and find the whole experience captivating, fun and intuitive. However, the missing "features" noted above really sour the experience.

Copy and paste feature not working for copying pictures

when copying a picture, you are not giving any paste feature

greyed out I would expect... it sounds like copy is not happening. does the Ctrl + C work Or Ctrl X

Cut and paste feature

Anyone know if the iPhone will have text selection, copy and paste feature? This is one of the view features I miss from my old phone. If I want to email or text a web address its pretty hard to do with a lot of web addresses. Just curious.

Copy and paste ios 5

Are anybody working on copy and paste problem on ios5? I thought that it will be fixed in 5.0.1 but not, still I can't copy and paste from Safari to email attachments or paste images.

The copy and paste feature hasn't changed in iOS 5. If it doesn't work for you, maybe you should consider restoring the iPad to factory settings and then rebuild your iPad - adding the content back to the device slowly and carefully.
You could even try restoring from a backup, which is not as painful or time consuming, and it just might work for you.

Copy and paste for applets

I've heard that since applets cannot access the system's clipboard it is impossible to implement and copy and paste features into an applet unless the applet is digitally signed. Are there any other alternatives to signing the applet? Cheaper alternatives that is. Without having to manually install digital certificates of course.

Meanwhile, I suggest you check whether you have any third party anti-virus programs installed in your system, some of those software might prevent such copy\paste function, if you have, please temporarily turn off or uninstall them as a test.
Or as
raghuramu mentioned, it is a software restriction in some websites.
By the way, are you able to copy and paste between other application, such as word to word, not IE?

Cut, Copy and Paste/ Camra Features

Please make these features avilable with your next update. Cut, copy and paste from the internet phonebooks and emails. Also update your spell check its really not that good. And flash player we can not stress enough.
One more thing I was at a concert and I was next to somebody with a blackberry (I think that's what it was) but every time the ground would shake my pictures would come out like that please give us stability and they can zoom with there camra, so why can't our iPhone do the same and please give us video recording.

Copy and Paste InDesigne gives inserted graphic, not object!? Bug or "feature"?

When I copy and paste any object in Indesign (Vectorgraphics, Rectangle, Textarea, everything) it isn't pasted as another object, it's paster as an inserted Graphic. I use Creative Cloud, updating automatically. Is this a new "feature" or a bug? Copying and pasting an Object -> i want an object again (editable and with the same color etc) and not an inserted graphic. Can I change any settings for that or something? never had this problem before!
I would really appreciate your help as it's really uncomfortable in the workflow even though i could understand it would increase performance and reduce data volume.

I have problem like this with indesign cs6 and windows 7, when i copy and paste frames it paste as there is graphic inside with a content grabner, my work around is from windows start>all program >go to indesign and run as administrator. Hope this may help.

Do not duplicate the graphic style when you copy and paste a feature

I rely heavily on the use of graphic styles. However, when I copy and paste a feature that has a graphic style assigned to it, a duplicate of the graphic style is created. I sometimes end up with a large number of these duplicate graphic styles that I have to trash. This does not happen with the selection tool+alt shortcut for copying. However, I can't use this shortcut when I want to paste in front or paste in back, which is the case at least half the time.

Only advice I can offer is Option Left cursor, then right cursor, to make an exact copy in same position.
This will give you a clone as the action does form the previosu poster, but unfortunately no oslution for when you want to target layers.
If anyone else has any input on this here is how to reproduc:
New document, create a graphic style (eg: fill yellow, stroke none) and save
Close the document
Open the document
copy and paste the element with the graphic style, and with every paste multiplies faster than a tribble on Star Trek
I played with changing the clipboard options, no luck. Exists on CS4 Mac, CS5 Mac & PC, might go back as far as graphic styles do.

The bar where the html is suppose to show, the new feature of firefox 4 doesn't seem to show it, what do i do when i want to copy and paste it without loading or refreshing the page again?

i am having problems with not seeing the HTML on the bar because i always look and copy and paste it on things like Facebook and stuff. but now with this new feature, i cannot see or copy or paste it.

You can find the Copy, Paste, and Cut buttons in the Edit menu and the Edit sub menu in the Firefox menu.<br />
If you need access to the menu bar then press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
You can also find them as toolbar buttons in the toolbar palette in the Customize window and drag them on a toolbar.

Photoshop CS3 & Outlook 2007 - Can't copy and Paste

I've recently converted to win7 and office 2007. Under vista and office 2003 I could select an embedded image in an email, copy it to the clipboard, and then do a file/new in photoshop and paste the image. Every since going to vista and office 2007, this will not work. I can select the image and copy it, but photoshop cannot paste it. The paste command remains greyed out.
I tried copy and past into Microsoft Paint and that works. I tried copy and paste in Paint Shop Pro XI and that works. I tried copy and paste from Paint Shop to photoshop and that works. I just can't copy and paste from outlook 2007 to photoshop.
Is this another "feature" from microsoft?

I just made a quick test with Outlook 2007 and Photoshop CS5 64 and 32 bit on Windows7 64 bit.
From the embedded images that I tried in Outlook there are 2 kinds of selections, one that works and another that doesn't. I'm not familiar at all with designing emails and don't even know what programs, scripting, programing, etc is used for creating and designing emails (I won't mind if someone enlightens me) but when I right click on a image and choose copy on some of the images appear selection handles similar to the transformation box in Photoshop and I can even move the handles in Outlook as if it is going to scale the images but it does nothing at the end. When I copy images with such selection handles they cannot be pasted in Photoshop where Paste menu is dimmed, but can be pasted in other programs like Microsoft Paint and even in other Adobe programs like Illustrator, Flash, and Dreamweaver, but not in InDesign where pasting produced an empty text box. Then if I copy the pasted image from any of these programs I can paste it without a problem in Photoshop.
Now here's the trick, copy and paste works from Outlook to Photoshop if the image doesn't show these slection handlles when I right click and choose copy, but when it does, if I select it in a different way, like a text by dragging between before and end of image to highlight it, then right clicking and choosing copy works without a problem when pasting it in Photoshop.
Have you tried reporting this issue to Adobe? I have made feature requests in the forum for that on this site but I have never reported bugs and don't know what are the channels. If it hasn't been reported, I think they will be interested to know this issue.
