Copy and Paste formatting

Hello, I am running into problems copying and pasting HTML information from my e-mails. I run a real estate website, and on a Windows, it was easy to just copy and paste a listing that was e-mailed to me, and the formatting and pictures would be preserved in the same formatting. I am wondering if there is a way to do this on a Mac, because as of now when I paste, it simply pastes the text unformatted, and without a picture. Is there a workaround? I am using Mail and Dreamweaver 8.
Thanks
Ryan

Unfortunately mail HTML formatting is different for every e-mail client. Your best bet is to get some web space and put up the HTML files you want on a website, and just point a link to your clients to visit that website.
Just be sure to follow http://www.w3.org/ standards, and use known coding techniques for making the HTML viewable in any web browser, such as those outlined by http://www.anybrowser.org/

  • Change the copy and paste format

Does anyone know how to change OSX 10.5 copy and paste/clipboard format from PDF to PICT?

When a copy operation is performed, the target application typically offers multiple flavors of clipboard data. When you go to paste, which one of those flavors is actually used is up to the receiving application. If it prefers PDF it's going to use PDF and there's not really anything an end user can do about it. If you want a PICT file you'll really have to perform the conversion manually, and it's not too popular a format so there aren't many options for that out there.

  • Copy and paste formats only

I have just downloaded IWork to evaluate and am stumped at the first hurdle. I just want to copy a cells format (not its contents)and paste it into another cell (format painter in Excel). Can anyone help?

What we have is descripted in the PDF User Guide in page 79 (in the English version)
    +*Copying and Pasting Table Styles*+
+You can change a table’s appearance by copying and pasting table and table cell styles.+
+Here are ways to copy and paste table styles:+
+• To copy a cell’s style, select the cell and choose Format > Copy Style.+
+• To apply a copied cell style to other cells, select the cells and choose Format > Paste+
    Style.
+• To paste a copied table using the spreadsheet’s default table style, choose Edit > Paste and Match Style.+
You may also install the buttons "Copy Style" and "Paste Style" in the toolbar.
As I doesn't allow µSoft products to enter my home, I don't know if this duplicate "format painter".

  • I can't copy and paste formatted text within the same or between Word and Excel documents

I run Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (English) (Student Select)
when I try to copy any formatted text or tables within the same or different Word documents I will always loose the formatting. This is also true if I try to copy formats or formatted tables within Excel or from Excel to Word, see example screenshot:
When I have a look at my paste options via 'Alt', 'e', 's' or 'Paste special' it only lets me choose between "Unformatted Text" or "Unformatted Unicode Text", see screenshot:
Here is what I tried already:
    - In the advance options menu all options are on "keep formatting"
    - I uninstalled and reinstalled the entire office suit but keep having the same problem!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Boston

I found the solution on another site, superuser.com, so I can't claim the solution as my own, but it worked for me. Kent Ng says:
I face the similar issue with Excel 2003. If you have installed Skype-Click-to-Call, just removed it to resolve this issue.

  • Copy and Paste Unformatted Text to documents

A very useful feature at times is the ability to copy and paste formatted text from pages (in this case webpage) to a document (text edit, word). Which means that what ever bold, font or style on a page is copied to the clipboard and then pasted identically to the document.
    question:
Is there a way to copy or paste the plain text of the clipboard rather than the formatted version?
    thanks..

    Hi, SU.
Many applications support this, but how it is implemented varies by application.
In many apps, if you paste using the Command-Option-V keyboard shortcut (instead of Command-V for paste), it will paste the clipboard contents either:
    • Without the styles used in the document from which the text was copied.
    • In the same style as the document into which you are pasting the text.
Some apps, e.g. Microsoft Office, have an Edit > Paste Special menu choice that permits one to select that text should be pasted either without the styles or matching the style of your document.
In Mail, the keyboard shortcut is Command-Option-Shift-V.
Consult the Help for the particular application to determine how one can paste what is commonly called "styled text" without the styles. Styled text is text in the clipboard that retains the style of the document from which it was copied.
    Good luck!

  • Is it possible to keep the outline auto formatting from Pages when copying and pasting that outline to the Presenter Notes on Keynote?

I have been using my iPad for my notes, but I want to start using it as a remote for my macbook. When I copy and paste the notes into the Presenter Notes section of Keynote on the macbook, it unformatted. Any bullet point formatting that I do on my macbook is not showing on my iPad's Remote view Presenter Notes. Is there a way to create consistency here that does not involved formatting each one separately?

    Use Drag and Drop
Have both applications open side by side

  • How to NOT retain formatting when copying and pasting text

Captivate 7 keeps the formatting from my text sources when I paste into a Text Caption which is not what I need. Anything I could find in the forums where questions relating to "keeping" the source formatting. I don't want this, I want Captivate to keep its text formatting when I paste text into a text caption. I even did a test creating a new project and using one of the Cap 7 themes. If I paste text in the default capture caption style object, it retains the formatting of the copied text source.  I have been working with Captivate 7 since a few months now and, until this morning, when I copied and pasted text from another source into my Captivate Text Caption, it retained the format of my Captivate Text Caption object. This is exactly what I need. How can I get this behavior back?
I appreciate any help. Thank you.

    Hi there
Well, first I would report it as undesired behavior and possibly ask for an enhancement that allows us to right-click and paste without formatting. Do this using the link below:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
For now, you have a couple of options.
    1. Perform a side trip. Open a text editor such as Windows Notepad or Apple Textpad and paste, then copy back to the clipboard. Then paste the text into the caption. (When pasting into the text editor, formatting is stripped)
    2. On Windows machines, you can usually find a clipboard utility that allows you to paste as pure text. In fact, one such application is called PureText.
PureText Home Page (Note that I have no affiliation with them and nothing to gain if you choose to use the product. Just wanted to make you aware of it.)

  • I cannot copy and paste details from my bank statement into a word document, without the formatting changing.I have a message in my Error console which reads: server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555

Since transferring data from my desktop to my laptop, i am now having problems copying and pasting details from my bank website in to a word document, the formatting is all over the place. This didnt happen before, when i pasted the details in to the word document the formatting was exactly the same as on the webpage. If I use internet explorer, I dont have this problem, so, I can only assume it has something to do with Firefox. I have checked the "Error console" and I am receiving this message: server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555.

  • Is there a format for a file that I can use for attaching a one page document with photos embedded that will open in everyone's email automatically?   I've tried PDF and Word, but worked only in Mail.  Lost formatting when just copied and pasted in email.

Is there a format for a file that I can use for attaching a one page document with photos embedded that will open in everyone's email automatically?   I've tried PDF and Word, but PDF worked only in Mail.  Word worked in nothing.  I also tried copying and pasting the document but lost all formatting when just copied and pasted in email.  Is there a way to do this?

Are you sure PDF won't work? It should as what you're trying to do is pretty much what it is designed for (PDF - Portable Document Format). On a Mac anywone who receives the file should be able to see it in all its page layout glory by using the app Preview or Adobe Reader. Same on a PC, the file should be viewable as a PDF file using Adobe Reader and probably some other viewer (don't use PCs so not sure what other apps).
What application are you creating the file in and are you sure you're exporting it correctly in PDF format, fonts and images embedded?

  • Keep Formatting during Copy and Paste in Text Box

    Hi everyone,
I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI v11.0.0 on Windows 7.
When I am copying and pasting numbers and text within the same text box, I lose the original formatting. How can I paste with the formatting retained? For example, if I copy Bold1234subscript , pasting within the same text box gives me Bold1234Subscript.
However, formatting is preserved when I copy and paste the entire text box.
    Thank you very much!

As far as I know you can't do that. In any case, it sounds like you are trying to use Acrobat in a way that is not part of its design. Go back to your original document and edit that, then create a new PDF.

  • Copy and Paste from PDF Looses Formatting in SL

    Hi Everyone,
I've discovered a strange problem in snow leopard. Prior to upgrading to snow leopard, I was able to copy and paste from a PDF in Preview into Word, save as a text file, and preserve the formatting of the original PDF. This was important because I had written a perl program that extracted relevant information from the text file (the one based on the PDF) to generate reports. The PDF was not scanned but generated from some sort of batch program, and the output has columns and rows. I tried to copy and paste today, after upgrading to Snow Leopard yesterday, and no matter what I tried (including paste special) the formatting when copying from the PDF to Word was lost. I tried Adobe reader as well as Skim and tried copying into TextEdit but nothing worked. I even tried exporting from Adobe reader as a text file but have the same problem.
Being a good upgrader, I kept a backup of my Leopard install. After booting from it, copy and paste work as before and I was able to generate a properly formatted text file. From my experience with this, it appears as though the way snow leopard renders a PDF, or works with copying and pasting, is different than previous operating systems. Does anyone happen to know if there is a way to make snow leopard's copying and pasting work as it did in Leopard before?
If it helps, the machine I was using was my wife's white MacBook, 2 GHz with 2 MB of RAM.
    Thanks in advance.
    Joe

I likewise rely on ChemDraw and Pages/Keynote for my research and teaching. This is unfortunately an enormous problem, as I use these programs on a daily basis. I will be re-installing Leopard until the problem is resolved. Chambridgesoft's reply to the issue is that "The current version of ChemDraw/ChemBioDraw (12.0.0) was developed and released prior to the release of Snow Leopard. Therefore, ChemDraw 12.0.0 has not been officially tested and qualified under this operating system. We hope to support Snow Leopard in future in a future point release." I guess they couldn't get a hold of a development build? As I'm using ChemDraw Ultra 11.0 I will obviously not be supported in any case.
Judging from other replies, the problem seems to stem from SN copying as a .tiff rather than a .pict? Perhaps someone has a fix to make SN copy as .pict?

  • Copy and Paste on Safari 5.0.2 does not retain formatting

    Hi there.
I'm on Safari 5.0.2. and when I copy and paste something (in this case, on a message board--vBulletin, but it doesn't work on anything else) it does not retain the original formatting (for example--bold, italics, underline, etc.) If I copy something from Safari and paste it into another program, TextEdit for example, the formatting remains and works fine.
This is extremely annoying. Anyone have any ideas?
*If you're on Safari, try copying* and *pasting this sentence in a reply* --it will remove all the formatting for some reason. It will work in TextEdit, however. It's not just this message board software either...try it somewhere else too.

    Hi
copying formatted text & pasting in Safari does retain the formatting, so long as the place you're pasting it supports varying fonts/styles.
So copy/paste here, just shows as plain text.
c/p to blogger.com in the 'compose' tab - works fine
c/p to blogger in the 'html' tab - plain text
same with textedit: paste from safari to textedit +in a plain text document+ -you get plain text.

  • How can I get rid of formatting marks in a doc that is copied and pasted into word; these marks don't show up in Safari.

When copying and pasting text from an article into Word, formatting marks appear in the copied text that don't appear if I cut and paste from Safari to Word. This started several months ago, perhaps even a year ago. I assume it's a FF issue since it doesn't happen with Safari, which I don't use if I can avoid it.

  • Most compatable file type to use when copying and pasting specially formatted text into html pages?

    Hello,
I have a simple web site at http://www.psychicmeatloaf.com which is an online poetry journal site. I use files people send me (mostly .doc or .docx) and cut and paste the text from those files into html pages in an older version of Dreamweaver and some of the text has special formatting (like this page: http://www.psychicmeatloaf.com/Chang-poetry.htm ). The best way I have found to maintain the special text formatting is to open the .docx files and "save as a web page" in Word and then open the web page from Dreamweaver and then "Preview the page" in Explorer and copy and paste from the preview into an html page in Dreamveaver. Even using this method, some text will not maintain it's special formatting and for those I just save the page as a .jpg file and use that, because I have no other choice.
My question is, is there a better way and is there a better file type to work from other than .docx?
    Thanks a milliom,
    George

That's a lot of steps to get to a single end that could be done with a simple copy & paste of the text into code. Like Photoshop and Fireworks, Word writes some very bulky and dirty code. I wouldn't recommend it for direct copy by the method described above.
I personally copy the text and paste it into code view. It takes a little more work, but I don't get dozens of lines of inline styles added with it and using a preformatted post div (saved and hidden in the code (<!--post block code goes inside-->), I can quickly put title, date, byline and links up with a cut & paste.
    That's just my $0.02 worth
Also, since nearly EVERYONE will use a different formatting in a Word doc, putting a bunch of differently formatted posts into a page will make it look like one of those ransom notes made of cut out text from different newspapers and magazines.  Better to keep everything in a single format (your format) so it doesn't become an eyesore.

  • Can I copy and paste into word doc without losing formatting (ie., charts and columns, etc.)

We were recently given the opportunity to have our office files scanned to searchable PDF.  Now that we have an opportunity to work with the PDFs, we are interested to know if we can take text and formatting of an existing document, copy and paste it into word for editing.  So far I have only been able to copy and paste the text, which I then have to reformat, space and enter into a chart, etc.  We are currently using Adobe Reader.  Is this a possibility if we upgrade or install a different program, such as, Adobe Acrobat?
Thank you for any and all help!

"Formattng" per se does not exist in PDF.
