Copy and paste from gmail to Pages loses all links--why?

I get emails with embedded links that I need to work on, so I select the entire gmail message body, then copy/paste into Pages '08. What I get is a plain text document with all the links gone. The text is still there, but no hyperlink indicated nor http addresses carried over. What's wrong? How can I change that?

OK, so more details:
Let's say I get a long email in gmail that has links already in it, as in they are embedded--they are already clickable. For example, there will be a word that says "Washington Post" and it will be an underlined hyperlink, NOT "www.washingtonpost.com" or whatever.
So I open Pages and select "New" and get a blank document. Then I open Inspector and Enable hyperlinks just like you suggested. Then I copy and paste the email text that has the embedded hyperlinks. And NONE of them maintain their link data. All of them become plain text.
So what am I doing wrong that is making all the links die?

Same issue here and I have spoke with Apple support and actually had them log on to my University website and demo'ed the issue for themselves. This was only yesterday and the response was it would take 5-6 days for upper level support to get back to me for further analysis.
What exactly is happening is when I copy text from my school website, the text is never copied to the clipboard so subsequently when I past it somewhere else it just pastes whatever exists in the clipboard from the previous use.
Did you ever resolve your issue or find a work-around? If not I will gladly update this post when I hear more. My wife's iPad on 4.3.3 is functions perfectly in the same regard. Apple agree's it is a software issue but like simply require more time to diagnose.

Open both of your images in the Editor. Click on the image you want to copy and press Ctrtl+A (select all) followed by Ctrl+C (copy) then click the tab for your other image and press Ctrl+V (paste)
Alternatively click on your background image then simply drag the second image from the photo/project bin and drop it into the main editor workspace on top of the background image. Use the move tool to position and the corner handles of the bounding box to scale.

Long press on the text you would like to select (tapping and holding) and then release after the magnifying glass shows up. This will select a single word. Then use the blue dots and drag them to select a region of test. Then press "copy". Open pages, and long press and release where you would like to paste. Then select "paste". That should paste the text.
If the text doesn't select within the browser, it might be an uncopyable format. Like if the text was within an image, naturally you would be unable to select it. The only thing to do there is long press the image and selecting "save image", adding it to your camera roll. Then you could insert the image within pages.

After highlighting something on a web page by left-click and dragging the mouse, you can go to Firefox button (or File) > Edit. Hover your mouse pointer over the 3 images to the right of Edit for a tooltip (scissors = cut, two pages = copy, clipboard = paste) or click the arrow to the far right of Edit for a drop-down, non-icon list of the functions available.
In Windows you can also right-click (without moving the mouse pointer around) the highlighted text, then choose Copy. On the document, email, etc., that you are copying to, you can use right-click, then choose Paste.

Cannot copy and paste from Word into Mail

I cannot copy and paste from Word into Mail. Neither from using the keyboard shortcuts, or using the Menu function. I can copy and paste from other applications into Mail- but for some reason, text copied from a Word document (both in .txt and .doc formats) will not paste into an open email. Anyone else have this issue? It's a new issue. I used to be able to do this easily.

I had similar issues starting about the same time or within the past week. However, I can copy and paste, it just takes considerably longer than it used to before. Copying something from a web page into Word could take up to 30 seconds now on my computer but it shows a busy mouse pointer while it is loading, then clicks/pops when it loads into the Word document, but then actually takes about another 5 to 10 seconds to appear in the Word document. I have no idea why it is delaying now when it did not do it before, but since it is still going into the document I am living with it for now. Are you waiting long enough to see if it appears?

Copy and Paste from PDF Looses Formatting in SL

Hi Everyone,
I've discovered a strange problem in snow leopard. Prior to upgrading to snow leopard, I was able to copy and paste from a PDF in Preview into Word, save as a text file, and preserve the formatting of the original PDF. This was important because I had written a perl program that extracted relevant information from the text file (the one based on the PDF) to generate reports. The PDF was not scanned but generated from some sort of batch program, and the output has columns and rows. I tried to copy and paste today, after upgrading to Snow Leopard yesterday, and no matter what I tried (including paste special) the formatting when copying from the PDF to Word was lost. I tried Adobe reader as well as Skim and tried copying into TextEdit but nothing worked. I even tried exporting from Adobe reader as a text file but have the same problem.
Being a good upgrader, I kept a backup of my Leopard install. After booting from it, copy and paste work as before and I was able to generate a properly formatted text file. From my experience with this, it appears as though the way snow leopard renders a PDF, or works with copying and pasting, is different than previous operating systems. Does anyone happen to know if there is a way to make snow leopard's copying and pasting work as it did in Leopard before?
If it helps, the machine I was using was my wife's white MacBook, 2 GHz with 2 MB of RAM.

I likewise rely on ChemDraw and Pages/Keynote for my research and teaching. This is unfortunately an enormous problem, as I use these programs on a daily basis. I will be re-installing Leopard until the problem is resolved. Chambridgesoft's reply to the issue is that "The current version of ChemDraw/ChemBioDraw (12.0.0) was developed and released prior to the release of Snow Leopard. Therefore, ChemDraw 12.0.0 has not been officially tested and qualified under this operating system. We hope to support Snow Leopard in future in a future point release." I guess they couldn't get a hold of a development build? As I'm using ChemDraw Ultra 11.0 I will obviously not be supported in any case.
Judging from other replies, the problem seems to stem from SN copying as a .tiff rather than a .pict? Perhaps someone has a fix to make SN copy as .pict?

using Windows 7 Professional SP1, Microsoft Office 365 (Office 2013).
I can copy the text within a word document, without a problem.
However, the paste options are greyed out and "Ctrl"+"V" does not work.
Am I missing something, as I can't work out how to copy the text from word, to use as a basis for my photo shop document.

When i copy and paste from one spreadsheet to the other, the images overlay each other as if i were litterally cutting them out of paper and then sloppily pasting to another. The reason you get that result is that you are pasting the rows to the canvas of your second document instead of into an existing table.
Instead, make a large blank table in your receiving document and paste into that table only after clicking on the cell where you want the first cell of the copied data to be positioned.

No. Not that I'm aware of. If you're that worried about people being able to copy and paste from email messages and having confidential data get 'into the wild' that way, then maybe you shouldn't be issuing or permitting the use of smart phones.

It depends upon the restrictions set on the pdf.
If the creator of the pdf has set restrictions against copying then you will not be able to copy the content.
Are you facing the same issue with all the pdf's?

There are a range of different kinds of forms. For example, this site uses very simple controls that don't automatically convert Word's formatting to an online format. The site where you are trying to paste your resume probably works differently.
What methods have you tried using to paste? Typically one of these will work:
* Ctrl+v
* right-click > Paste
* Edit > Paste (from the menu)
Some sites offer their own buttons to paste, but for security/privacy reasons, Firefox usually disables those.

It is a generated pdf doc. I can highlight the text, but as soon as I let go of the mouse button, the highlighting disappears. If I right-click the mouse, there is no copy/past option. Only a select, zoom and marque tool option.
