Copy and Paste have ceased to work?

I have upgraded to 10.5.6. My Dell printer is now no longer supported (it froze at 10.4). So some letters I had written to snail mail needed to go out through email. I selected the text in Word used the Copy command, opened an email and used the Paste command. Nothing happened - repeated many times and in different ways (menu, keyboard, Word to Word, email to email...). Other commands do work - Save, Undo.. Copy & Paste do no work in any program.
What is wrong? Why has copy & Paste ceased to function?

With your mouse select some text (which overlays a blue strip), press the Command key down and tap C, to copy it. (Keep your eye on the blue flash Edit),
Release both keys.
Check to see if it has copied to the clipboard by
Clicking the Finder icon in the Dock, in the Finder menuitem Edit
select Show Clipboard
Is the copied text there?

My copy and paste functions are not working properly since iOS 8 update

Ever since I updated to iOS 8 on my iPhone 4s the copy and paste function isn't working. It'll work the first time but any time I copy something else it pastes the first thing I copy. The only fix I've found is rebooting the phone but that is a pain to do every time I want to copy something and should be very unnecessary. I updated to 8.0.2 but that didn't fix it.

It's because of the extension of the hard drive is a Windows extension ( most likely MSDOS or Ex-FAT), meaning you can only read but not write. If there are no important files (or you can copy the whole thing to your computer/mac) you can just reformat the hard drive and change the extension to NTFS (readable and writable on both windows and mac) or Mac OS Extended (readable and writable on Mac, readable on windows).
Go to DISK UTILITY
Choose the Hard Disk you intended
ERASE
You can choose either
(I personally prefer this one, you know just in case)

hello, i am very frustrated now, it's been two weeks since i have upgraded my mac os to snow leopard but the copy and paste commands are no longer working. i have searched thru the communities but i cannot find something that answers my query. please help as i do not want to resort to downgrading back my OS. thanks in advanced.

If you do not have a removable battery
power down, power back up and hold the following keys, left side shift, control, option. Hold these keys till the gears stops spinning, release. Reboot.

Copy and Paste Have Stopped Working!

All of a sudden, it's like a switch has been thrown: I can't copy and paste between applications, or even within an application. I've tried to use Edit->Copy and Edit->Paste, rubber-banding and dragging, and even Apple-C and Apple-V, all to no avail.
(When I do Apple-C, the Edit item in the menu bar goes blue, but then when I do Apple-V, I get the "boop" sound.) Was doing this fine until a day or so ago.

After the most recent firefox update I can no longer copy and paste. the fuinction only works in Windows and I HATE usign it. Any suggestions on how to restore the copy and paste function while using Mozilla?

I have been unable to use the copy and past command while using mozilla. the fucntion does work in windows IE, but I don't want to use windows. How do I restore or fix this function? I varies, works some days and not others.

Copy and paste styles do not work in toolbar

I cannot get the copy and paste style functions in the toolbar to work properly for Pages 5.5. is this something not available in 5.5?
Do I need to export my document back to Pages 4.3 to have that feature available?

This is expected behavior. Marking In and Out points in clip thumbnails is not supported directly in the Media Browser, you must import the clips to the Project panel first. Clips in the Media Browser cannot have metadata added to them to them (like In and Out points) until they are in the project.
You can still open the clips from the Media Browser into the Source Monitor to set In and Out points before importing them into the project if that workflow is important to you.

My Copy and Paste Function is not working

I recently upgraded to Firefox 16.02 and everything worked fine for a while but last night out of the blue my copy and paste function stopped working. As far as I know I have not done anything different. My copy paste function still works in Chrome and IE.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox and that did not solve the problem. As we speak I am running an AV scan and I also cleared the web cache and what not in Firefox. Ran it in safe mode... nothing seems to work!
Interestingly though, when I went to Copy and Paste the "trouble shooting info" from the clipboard to here on this page it worked fine.

Copy and paste are still not working even after many workarounds

This usually happens to me randomly. I would say that there is about a 25% chance that my paste works. The copy function seems to work, but when it comes to pasting, my browser does not offer the pasting button and it stays invisible. I have disabled my firewall, disabled my antivirus, resat firefox, started in safemode, disabled all plugins, and even uninstalled and reinstalled java. I have tried everything. This is definitely a browser problem because I am able to copy and paste in any other application with out any problem. I don't like any other browser so I refuse to do so. Please help me firefox team.

Copy and Paste Keyboard Shortcut not working

My copy and paste (Command C) function is not working. Tried to resent in keyboard menu, but it didn't do anything. VERY FRUSTRATING as I use this function all day long in my job. Can somebody help please?

The 'input menu' would put a small flag on the main menu bar and allow
you to click there, and see Keyboard Viewer, and Character Palette. A
small keyboard will appear on the desktop and mirror all keys you use
on the real keyboard. Or not. When they don't work in the Viewer, you
can safely assume they don't work. (Or it is software, vs hardware.)
Someday, when you have time and perhaps some extra hardware, you
may consider making a backup clone of your computer contents on a
large enough external hard disk drive to support bootable OS X clones;
and also large enough to have more than one partition there, for extras.
Then, do a completely new installation on a 'secure erased' hard disk drive.
And then update it. You could migrate previous user setting info, into the
new installation from an external drive's clone; or if you have extra discover
time, you may find a cure to the underlying problem's cause and use the
clone in the external hard disk drive as a backup. Maybe DiskWarrior?
The problem in the system may be due to at least one possible malady; a
corruption of system data, a bad block on the hard disk drive, or some other
matter that somehow became bigger than life when combined with another.
You may try the SafeBoot mode, repair disk permisions in Disk Utility, and
then try reinstalling the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo update file, on top of it all.
Then when it restarts, run SafeBoot again and re-repair disk permissions.
(But any actual hard disk drive issue may exist and remain unattended.)
Odd problems often are best attacked at a root level, after you have adequate
backup; a bootable clone on supported self-powered external hard disk drive.
Clone utilities such as SuperDuper and Carbon Copy Cloner are fine tools;
and CCC (bombich software) has evolved to be top-notch with site support.
Glad you were able to remap some keys; I found several links in a search on
how to do that, and had previously posted some URLs to help someone else
on another user forum that covered some angles of resolving keyboard issues.

With the Lion, the copy and paste commands don't work. So if you choose a photo and right click Copy, this photo can't be pasted in another event. This used to work with Snow Leopard.

The copy and paste functions in iPhoto used to work in Snow Leopard, but not with the Lion. How do I copy and paste photos from one event to another? What I don't understand is that it used to work with Snow Leopard, and now that the OS has been upgraded to Lion, it doesn't?

Instead of copy and paste drag the photo to the new event. Or flag it and use the add flagged photos to selected event command

Cut, Copy and Paste commands don't work

I am unable to use cut, copy and paste commands either by keyboard shortcuts or using the menu commands. This only happens in one account on the iBook, but not the other. Any suggestions?

Try removing the finder preference.
You will find it in
Users/thenameoftheproblemuser/library/preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
Drag the file to the desktop, log out and log back in. See if
it works now.

Copy and Paste function no longer works in version 3.6

Ever since I upgraded to version 3.6 (finally after waiting for all of the crash bugs to be fixed after having to downgrade last fall) now the simple copy & paste function won't work when copying from one webpage to put link or paragraph of text into the body of an e-mail, through any of my web based mail services (Yahoo, Onebox, etc.)
So, when doing all of this version updating how could Mozilla allow such a simple function used in every program since the invention of the computer... to be disabled?

Im having this problem, and although it took time to tell because it is intermittent, it still happens when all add-ons & theme are manually disabled.
I would have to test safe mode a little bit longer to be sure it didnt happen there.
It also affects other programs (like my metapad- notepad replacement) as long as firefox is open, but does not when the browser is closed, as far as I can tell.

It may or may not be related, but there's also a flicker
(black screen in page window for an eyeblink) when firefox
opens or returns from maximized state, and when it opens a menu.
Both bugs only recently started.

EBay web page problem - search for item last time was ok now not ok ! I copied and pasted into IE it worked ok but not on Firefox !! why ???

I have lots of tabs of eBay search pages which I update every day and from last night (26th Sep) and even now 27th they still have the same problem that the search does not continue but goes to a eBay home page !
I tried going back in history but the same thing came up again and again.
I copied a link from my history in Firfox and pasted it into IE which came up Ok - I copied that into Chrome and that was Ok as well !
I copied it back to Firefox and Still Came Up with the Same wrong page !!! Why ???

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove your eBay cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
