Copy and Paste is still broken in iOS 8.1!!

This is really ******* me off. I know there were a lot of fundamental changes to iOS 8, so I can cut Apple some slack, but this is ridiculous! It's so frustrating to copy and then paste and get OLD copy results. It's worst when dealing with long complex passwords from LastPass (which can now integrate into Safari, but not other apps). Fix this Apple!!

We are not Apple employees. We are just other users like you are. I have no problem with copy and past in iOS 8.1, but there have been other discussions about this problem. You should look for one of those discussions for a fix, or report this as a bug to Apple.

Copy and paste no longer responds in iOS 8.1.2

iI've had trouble since I upgraded my iPad 3 to 8.1.2 with the copy and paste function and getting hyper links to respond. Anyone have a solution?

Try some basic troubleshooting:
(A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
(B) Try reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings

Copy and paste are still not working even after many workarounds

This usually happens to me randomly. I would say that there is about a 25% chance that my paste works. The copy function seems to work, but when it comes to pasting, my browser does not offer the pasting button and it stays invisible. I have disabled my firewall, disabled my antivirus, resat firefox, started in safemode, disabled all plugins, and even uninstalled and reinstalled java. I have tried everything. This is definitely a browser problem because I am able to copy and paste in any other application with out any problem. I don't like any other browser so I refuse to do so. Please help me firefox team.

I I am having trouble copying from any text to my clipboard and then pasting it into another document. The clipboard has a past copy of another line of text and it will not clear it and over right it.

Try closing all apps and then reset your iPad and see if that has any effect on the behavior. If that doesn't help, try resetting all settings.
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If you reset all settings, you will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.

How to stop an embedded PDF online from being copied and pasted?

I have an issue which I need assistance with please.
I can secure a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat XI and it disables it from being copied and pasted (right-click brings no such options) but, when I upload it online (to Wordpress) and link to it then it opens in Adobe Reader (or whatever PDF viewer the user has installed on their computer) and because of this they can highlight the text and right-click and then copy and paste it to a Word document and such, even though this was not possible in Adobe Acrobat XI but as soon as it goes online it is possible. How can this be prevented?
Basically I want to embed PDF's online for others to read and view directly online but I want to disable them from copying and pasting text - can this be done?

If I allowed the secured PDF as a download instead (because it could not be embedded) and they tried to edit it with their PDF software I assume the encryption on it and restrictions (e.g. no copy and paste) would still be enforced?
Not a correct assumption. Some PDF software respects security and some doesn't. This has nothing to do with whether it is embedded or downloaded.
Many people face this issue, but it is best to just get used to the idea that what you put on the web can be saved, shared, emailed, copied and recirculated. That's how the web is. Even if copy/paste wasn't allowed, the user could just do a screen capture and paste that. If that weren't allowed they could photograph the screen. And for some of the older generation, it even occurs to them to retype what they want...!

Has copy and paste been broken in the latest iOS in Numbers

Just tried copying and pasting in the latest version of Numbers on a V3 iPad. The only time I could get it to work, was by copying into the same table. And then only once. I've been using this for months, but not since the latest update. Anyone else have this problem?

Copy and paste of images still broken?

I use Firefox 14 and Windows XP, and I can't copy and paste images from the web into, say, a Word document. I used to do this all the time for knitting patterns, and it's very frustrating to have lost this function. I see from the knowledge database that this problem existed since version 11 or 12. Is there a solution somewhere?
Or, can someone help me download an earlier version? All I can find are release notes.

Copy and paste ios 5

Are anybody working on copy and paste problem on ios5? I thought that it will be fixed in 5.0.1 but not, still I can't copy and paste from Safari to email attachments or paste images.

The copy and paste feature hasn't changed in iOS 5. If it doesn't work for you, maybe you should consider restoring the iPad to factory settings and then rebuild your iPad - adding the content back to the device slowly and carefully.
You could even try restoring from a backup, which is not as painful or time consuming, and it just might work for you.

Copy and Paste = Broken

Is copy and paste broken on all MACs or just mine?
Use case:
Right click a file. Click copy
Right click anywhere in an email, Click paste
It pastes a link to the file (i.e. the location of the file on the PC) - totally useless if you are sending an email
I checked some display MACs in various stores and they have the same fault
I raise it with Apple 5 months ago but it is still not fixed
Why did I waste my money on a MAC that don't work. Drives me mad.

PS; I do not want a work around. I want the product I bought to work correctly

ios 8.1, it seems like Apple is behind the times in fixing problems with iOS 8. copy and paste has always been a problem since the release of iOS 8?
IT has never worked right for me on my iPad mini. In iOS 7 it worked fine. Apple needs to fix this problem and they need to do it now.
i'm sure I'm not the only user with this issue.

I think it has something to do with the number of tabs open, and whether the tab you opened that you are trying to paste into was opened first.

So, here it goes. I backed up my iphone 4 after renting a movie. The movie only played the starting credits before I was called on for daddy duty. A few days later the movie would not play, so I restored my phone from my backup. The movie would still would not play so itunes support refunded my purchase and ended my viewing privileges for that rental after verifying that I had not viewed the movie. I then had a problem with my contacts showing up twice in the contacts list after the restore. So I attempted another restore. All was well at this point. I then started having trouble with my pc and decided to copy the internal drive to an external source. A week later I had a system failure and did a factory restore on my computer. I re-installed itunes and tried to copy and paste the old backup into the new itunes. Now itunes just flat out does not see the backup file (I failed to mention that I did a factory reset on the iphone after the last backup, hopping to start fresh). Tech support had me uninstall and re-install itunes and then copy and paste the old backup into the newly installed itunes with no luck. The files are all there, but itunes just doesn't see them (itunes says the device has not been backed up to the cloud or to the local machine). We then tried backing up the factory restored iphone and replacing that restore file with one of my old backups on the external drive. Ok, this is where it gets weird. We replaced the guts of the folder but left the folder itself so itunes would continue to recognize the new backup folder with the old files. Whoohoo, itunes now see's a backup folder full of old files, or so we thought. The new files were deleted using shift delete so they would be gone for good and not mix with any files or folders. When I restore my phone, it restores the files that were deleted from the restore file (pause here for a moment and imagine the stupid look on the face of tech support and I while we silently wonder how files that were permanently deleted were restored). This left tech support and I both scratching our heads. My service issue was escalated to the next level. I waited for the phone call the next day that was scheduled at 10am to my wife's phone, but the call never came through. As usual, apple disappoints again. I just bought an iphone 5s and still have the iphone 4, and am looking for a solution to retrieve my contacts and restore to the 4 or 5s. I am guessing that files in other folders must be associated with the iphone backup in order for itunes to retrieve the files. It depends upon the restrictions set on the pdf.
If the creator of the pdf has set restrictions against copying then you will not be able to copy the content.
Are you facing the same issue with all the pdf's?

Copy and paste PDF attachment iOS 6 not working.

I cannot copy a PDF dcoument attachment in iOS 6 for iPhone 5 mail.app and then paste it into another email (or other application for that matter).
When you touch the Copy button it doesn't do anything. Is this a bug or a worthless feature?
Copy and Paste does work for images, video, etc. But not PDF documents.

Copy and paste buffers not working correctly in iOS 8.1m

Both iPads2's in my family arsenal are exhibiting what I believe to be a bug in the iOS8.1 (perhaps corrected by 8.1.1?), in the cut/copy & paste buffer stack.
When invoking the operation to copy and paste data from one application to another, the paste action consistently selects the previous (e.g., stack level 2 rather than 1 or Top) data as what is to be pasted.
In other words, if you have used the copy and paste routine twice, the second pasting will supply one with the paste data from the first operation, rather than the desired data from the second copy and paste operation.
Copy and paste appears to work correctly from within a single application, but consistently fails when copying data from one application to another.
Does anyone know of a work-around for this bug? Is it a bug that others have identified? Is there a new selection filter menu option for copy and paste operations, and what method is used to invoke the menu?
I hope this is addressed soon, as I use Cut/Copy & Paste operations extensively (I've already had Carpal Tunnel Release surgery once and don't relish a repeat performance, no matter how successful the first was in correcting the damage).
Any clues as to what's going on here?

All you can do is simply see if iOS 8.1.1 helps you with this. With some people it has, and others it has not. I would also recommend doing a clean install of your system, too.
Follow this procedure for a Troubleshooting Methodology ... basically reset to factory default condition -BUT- be sure to do the following methodically and also to follow the part with Apple Support!
First you want to make sure you have several backups of your data and done with a couple of "different" sources. Be sure to understand what data is backed up and what is NOT on iCloud Backup and iTunes Backup. Use a variety of methods for backup ... you might check into Dropbox, in addition to your Apple options.
Then turn off your desktop anti-virus software when using iTunes for this reset to factory default. After you do that reset, then leave your iPad in its factory default state and see how it operates then. If you encounter any problems in that factory default state, then take it to Apple Support, and let them know that you have just reset it to that state with iTunes and have not put any of your data back on and it is operating in this fashion (whatever the problem is) in that pristine state. Make sure you keep that trouble ticket number, because if it has to be escalated through Apple Support, you're going to find all communications tied in with that number. If the lower level help isn't able to help you, then escalate it to a higher level to examine the problem. Keep at it with that trouble ticket number until Apple Support arrives at a solution to that problem. Be methodical and keep at it.
On the other hand, if everything is okay with the factory default condition, then restore your backup. Some people have discovered that the problem resides in the apps or something in the restored backup. If that's the case, then it's going to be trying and difficult to find out which developer's app is causing you the problem. And ... it's true ... that a developer not following Apple's instructions and guidelines for his app can CAUSE YOU TROUBLE. This kind of thing does happen from developers, especially when a new system upgrade comes out, because some developers ignore what Apple tells them about changes coming, and what they do BREAKS SOMETHING.
This is a troubleshooting methodology that you are going through. See it through to the end.
