Copy and paste short cut keys stopped working

Im not too sure when it happened, but "command C, command x and command V" don't work. I can highlight and go up to the menu bar, select copy, then select paste and it will work. I can't add a custom shortcut for copy, cut and paste. Any suggestions on how to fix this???

I've shut down and restarted my computer over and over. Whenever Im done using it. That obviously hasn't fixed the issue.
I'm sorry in regards for my "future posts" I don't see a spot to add my hardware. I'm working on a Macbook. Isn't that a notebook?

Copy and Paste text into AEFX stopped working

I have succeeded in copying and pasting two paragraphs of text from Word Pad into AEFX. (ie two layers). I applied Typewriter FX and adjusted parameters , exported etc all fine.
Took a break and now I can not seem to get the Copy and Paste to work and I have another 8 layers to do.
Not exactly sure what I have done or changed to stop this Cut and Paste method from working. (And I do not wish to hand type in the test if possible - Pharmaceutical Mandatories)
Any ideas? Thanx.

To reassure you: You don't need to do anything to trigger these issues. ;-) They happen regularly, yet under lab conditions there seems no clear way to nail them down... Most of the time restarting the system and starting with a clean slate gives back the functionality.

Cut and paste in all applications stopped working last week

I'm running a 2.8GHz i7 and OS 10.9.2.
Last week I noticed I could not copy and paste any text from any application - word, safari, firefox, excel, mail, notes. Nothing!
I've got three accounts on my machine: mine, kids, and Guest. Copy and paste works on those accounts, but not mine.
Any tips or suggestions will be most welcome; thanks!

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account and see if it works there. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

Copy and paste WiFi WPA key in Lucid

How can I copy and paste a 63 character WiFi WPA key in the LG Lucid phone? The key is totally random and the chances of typing it correctly are slim at best. The WPA standard allows up to 63 character for a key. I would like to put a file on the SD card via usb and then somehow paste the key into the correct WiFi setup field. Seems to be a pretty basic capability ...

I'm not familiar with Polaris Office, but perhaps it doesn't read .txt files. If it reads .doc files (MS Word documents), you could just put the key into that kind of file and put it on the SD card for Polaris to open.
The trick with copying and pasting on Android phones is, as Tidbits said, to tap and hold the text. That might bring up a menu offering the option to select a word or select all, and then if you choose Select Word a rather goofy and awkward-looking pair of pointers that you drag to move the beginning and end of the selection. Or it might bring up the pair of pointers directly, and tapping on them will give you an option to select word or all. In any case, once you've got the text selected with the pointers, it will then offer options to copy or cut the text. Frankly, with my clumsy fingers it's taken me several months to develop any skill at this at all.
Of course, in this case choosing Select All would be simplest, if all there is in the file is the WPA key.
You may only have to do this once. On my Samsung Stratosphere, once I had logged onto my home WiFi one time the procedure has been automatic ever since, and the connection occurs seamlessly and quickly.

Copy and paste JPG into email not working

Upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.2 yesterday from Snow Leopard. iMac from 2009. Copied JPG from web page and pasted into email. Looked fine. Sent email to myself. When I read email, the JPG photo is replaced with small blue box with question mark. This always worked flawlessly prior to the upgrade. I tried the terminal with defaults write com.apple.screencapture type jpg to no avail (screen snip and paste behaves the same as copy and paste). Set the defaults back to png ... verified with a defaults read. I'm missing something, but I can't tell what.

Copy and Paste for Images won't work on windows 8

Copy and paste function on my windows 8 laptop is not working. For texts and links it would work when I copy it from a website to word but when I try to copy an image to word it wouldn't paste it.

Meanwhile, I suggest you check whether you have any third party anti-virus programs installed in your system, some of those software might prevent such copy\paste function, if you have, please temporarily turn off or uninstall them as a test.
Or as
raghuramu mentioned, it is a software restriction in some websites.
By the way, are you able to copy and paste between other application, such as word to word, not IE?

Bug: Copy and Paste shortcuts still don't work

Copy and Paste shortcuts still don't function. I have to manually go to the menu to copy and paste. Is this being addressed? This is a basic function used often.

Copy-n-Paste into Prompt window stopped working

Per subject titles, we have a javascript that used to work in CS4 with copy-n-pasting enable but only recently did we noticed copy-n-pasting doesnt work anymore in CS5-CS6. The script itself still runs fine but without the ability to copy-n-paste text into the prompt window does slow us down a bit. Does anyone know the cause and solution?

T60 - Battery/Pwr and Enter Standby Function Keys stopped working.

T60 - Battery/Pwr (Fn+F3) and Enter Standby (Fn+F4) Function Keys have stopped working.
This laptop, T60 200749U , had these function keys working when it ran XP PRO.
Since upgrading to Win 7 Pro both keys have stopped. Anyone have the solution?

PROBLEM SOLVED! Another person with same problem on a T61 ended with a fix that worked on my T60.
His name is seiscons and the answer is to use an older PwrMgt file for a different Lenove Laptop...
Use SL series > SL500 > 6.66.1
I can now use the FN+F3 or FN+F4 functions plus the battery icon is back on the Task Bar.

N95 SHORT CUT KEY NOT WORKING

Anyone had any problems with there N95 top left shortcut key not working,mine won't do anything when pressed then suddenly has a mind of it's own and keep pressing it's self and sending blank text messages to my first contact in my address book...

Copy and paste a transition (doesn't work)

Select a transition in a sequence.
Select Edit > Copy.
Move the current-time indicator to the cut line where you want to paste the transition.
Select Edit > Paste.
Done all that. nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
So in the timeline I click on the transition. I goto edit and copy. I click on goto next edit point. In the edit menu paste is not available.

So apparently you have to
1. target your clip
2. select existing transisiton
3. Copy
4. goto next edit point
5. select clip
6. paste.
That is more than you need to do. Something is wrong. A screen shot of the timeline showing the tracks and track headers would help.
The Help advice you quoted is correct, it even works using the keyboard shortcuts.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about on so many levels.
Why would they monitor these forums looking for problems when they already have internal and external developers/testers doing that for them?
You are obviously not a developer and you have updated your phone with an OS only meant for developers at this point.
Whats more you are talking about a problem that doesn't exist cut, copy & paste works just fine on 10.3.

I used a clorox wipe to clean my macbook keyboard and some of the keys stopped working. I tried restarting and then all the keys stopped working. Now it won't turn on. I took the battery out and flipped it upside down to let it dry. help! what do I do?

It really wasn't that much liquid but now I'm freaking out. I've always used clorox wipes and this has never happened to me. I'm going to leave it for a few days to dry just so I don't mess it up anymore. I'm debating putting it in rice. I just can't believe that small amount of liquid could ruin my macbook

The traces (copper connections) on the logic boards are pretty close together. It wouldn't take much to short two critical points out.
I hope putting it away for a few days (maybe in the warm sun) works for you. Because that is all I would have suggested.

hello, i am very frustrated now, it's been two weeks since i have upgraded my mac os to snow leopard but the copy and paste commands are no longer working. i have searched thru the communities but i cannot find something that answers my query. please help as i do not want to resort to downgrading back my OS. thanks in advanced.

If you do not have a removable battery
power down, power back up and hold the following keys, left side shift, control, option. Hold these keys till the gears stops spinning, release. Reboot.
