Copy and Paste Stopped Functioning

So I know how to copy and paste information. I have been doing it for years and now it has stopped functioning for me on my mac book pro =(
I can't even copy/paste things in word, text edit, skype, internet emails etc.
This is really frustrating me. I use the shortcut keys or even using the edit menu and can not get it to work... I have tried repairing disk utilities....
Someone please help!

When you are in one of the forums, near the top of the page it tells you the forum name. If you are on one of the pages that does not show the forum name (such as the page I'm on now doing this reply), there is a path such as "Apple.com > Support > Discussions > iWork '09 > Numbers '09" near the top of the page to let you know where you are.
I moved the file com.apple.finder.plist to the trash (because drag and click is also not working) and restarted. This didn't fix the problem...
Didn't previously know you were missing click and drag also.

It sure sounds like the same thing. Your reply in the other thread said you don't have your install disks handy. You can, however, still reapply the combo updater and give that a shot. Here is a link for the 10.5.7 combo update:

Copy and Paste Stops working across the Mac OS X

Recently I have been using my machine to connect to Windows XP machines using the RDC program (Mac equivilant of mstsc.exe) that Mircosoft provides.
Whilst swtiching between applications on the host OS (Mac OS X 10.8) I found that my copy and paste functionaility across the whole OS appeared to stop working. A restart of the whole OS seem to resolve the problem, but when I dug a little deeper I found that it appears that once I terminated the RDC program the copy and paste functionailty came back. This also include any extented copy and paste functions within the Mac OS X eg, screenshots (cmd+ctrl+shift+3) and partial screenshots (cmd+ctrl+shift+4 very cool use it all the time).
I just thought I'd add this issue to the Support forums in case other came across this problem, just one of those gotachas worth noting.

My keyboard stopped working and I recently installed a RDC program also. I will try to uninstall it and see if that is the main source of the issue. I will report back my findings for everyone else..

Copy and paste stopped working...

My Copy and Paste function works on and off, sometimes not at all.
The problem has been around for months.

If it is at all relevant, frequently, and for way longer than my Copy & Paste has been malfunctioning, my keyboard randomly jumps th cursor position...

If you haven't already done so, log out or restart the computer and see whether there's an improvement.

Copy and paste stopped working in photoshop CC

I've been using Photoshop CC since march and this is a new issue. Not previously a problem until today.
When I select and area to copy, from a JPEG or photoshop PSD photograph, and make a new file to paste it into, the new file comes up the same size as the clipboard contents, as it is meant too, but photoshop will no longer allow me to paste. The selection EDIT, Paste is still there in black, not greyed out. I temporarily fixed it by restarting my computer and it worked until I closed Photoshop down again and reopened it, problem is back...what is going on?
Is it to do with preferences and how do I change them to fix this?
the only thing I've changed recently was telling JPEG files to use photoshop as the default programme to open up in my computer. I changed this because Bridge was no longer showing photoshop as an option when you rightclick an image and chose which file to use to open it. The fix was to close Bridge, chose a jpeg and change the default to photoshop to open it.
I'm running windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

Thanks again,I did manage to delete the preferences using your method above. but again, copy and paste using PSD files still not resolved.
Copy and paste works for PNG GIFF JPEG files but not for PSD
OK thanks to Curt Y, I suggest the solution is to do the preferences first, then the purging.
I went back and purged the clipboard again after resetting the preferences and now it appears to be fixed.

Copy and paste stops working in OS10.8

I am on OS10.8.4 running on a 2010 Macbook Pro (2.53 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB Ram). While working on my laptop with several windows or programs open I will eventually loose the function of Copy-Paste, and click-drag. To get these functions to work properly I have to close everything and restart the laptop. This did not happen using 10.7. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Sometimes this is caused by a third party software conflict, either some app you are running, or some other program running behind the scenes. To help pin down this possibility you can check whether this behavior occurs when running in a different user account (e.g., Guest) and when starting up in Safe Mode.

Copy and paste stops working across all apps in lion. It maybe some compatibility issue. After a reboot I am able to copy and paste but at some point it stops functioning.

I am also having this problem. After running for a while copy/paste stops working, whether from menus or using the keyboard equivalents.

Copy and paste style in custom toolbar

I use the copy and paste stlye function frequently so added the icons to the toolbar. It seems that these buttons function only as copy/paste paragraph style rather than text style. Has anyone discovered a way to change their behavior? Dave

have you tried the key combos Shift-Option-Command-C (Copy) and Option-Command-V (Paste) instead of the toolbar icons?

I cannot get the copy and paste style functions in the toolbar to work properly for Pages 5.5. is this something not available in 5.5?
Do I need to export my document back to Pages 4.3 to have that feature available?

This is expected behavior. Marking In and Out points in clip thumbnails is not supported directly in the Media Browser, you must import the clips to the Project panel first. Clips in the Media Browser cannot have metadata added to them to them (like In and Out points) until they are in the project.
You can still open the clips from the Media Browser into the Source Monitor to set In and Out points before importing them into the project if that workflow is important to you.

Cross app copy and paste stoped working with 5.1 any suggestions?

After over the air upgrade to 5.1 on Verizon cross app copy and paste stopped working. Copy in one app no past option in the other. I have tried power cycling to no avail. Any suggestions prior to restoring the phone with iTunes?

Is there anybody who could give me code for "cut, copy and paste " menuitems (+ functionality) or tell me where I can find it on the internet?

Look at the tutorials on this site for building a menu. As for the code of the cut,copy and paste its up to you to implement what you want them to do. If your using a JTextArea it has a cut(), copy() and paste method built in all you have to do is call it from your menu action handler.

Cant see the copy and paste text functionality anywhere in dis phone....also cant sent contacts as text messages or business cards without it being transferred into a multimedia message...is it possible??!!

The copy and paste function stopped working on my laptop (ibook g4, OSX 10.3.9). It does not work in any applications, tried MS word, safari, preview.
How do I recover this function?

Your Finder may have lost contact with the clipboard, so try this.
In ~/library/preferences locate these two files and trash them
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
To re-establish them, log out and log back in again.
You will need to reset your finder and sidebar as you had them before.

Copy and Paste text into AEFX stopped working

I have succeeded in copying and pasting two paragraphs of text from Word Pad into AEFX. (ie two layers). I applied Typewriter FX and adjusted parameters , exported etc all fine.
Took a break and now I can not seem to get the Copy and Paste to work and I have another 8 layers to do.
Not exactly sure what I have done or changed to stop this Cut and Paste method from working. (And I do not wish to hand type in the test if possible - Pharmaceutical Mandatories)
Any ideas? Thanx.

To reassure you: You don't need to do anything to trigger these issues. ;-) They happen regularly, yet under lab conditions there seems no clear way to nail them down... Most of the time restarting the system and starting with a clean slate gives back the functionality.

My Copy and Paste Function is not working

I recently upgraded to Firefox 16.02 and everything worked fine for a while but last night out of the blue my copy and paste function stopped working. As far as I know I have not done anything different. My copy paste function still works in Chrome and IE.
I have uninstalled/reinstalled Firefox and that did not solve the problem. As we speak I am running an AV scan and I also cleared the web cache and what not in Firefox. Ran it in safe mode... nothing seems to work!
Interestingly though, when I went to Copy and Paste the "trouble shooting info" from the clipboard to here on this page it worked fine.

After the most recent firefox update I can no longer copy and paste. the fuinction only works in Windows and I HATE usign it. Any suggestions on how to restore the copy and paste function while using Mozilla?
