Copy background

When I open an image in the editor I like to make a duplicate layer to work on. When I drag the original background with the lock icon up to the new layer icon I get a second layer named background copy without a lock icon in the layer pallet. In the undo-history pallett it is named duplicate layer.
When I open an image in the editor an hit ctrl-j, I get a second layer named layer 1 in the layer pallet, and layer via copy in the history pallet
Is there any difference or advantage to one over the other?

Thanks,Andrei and Colin; I am just learning image editing on PSEv4 so I now have more info than my head can handle, but that's what makes this so interesting.

  • Copying background jobs of another user.

    Respected gurus,
I have to delete an user id, he has schedluled several jobs, but jobs has to be continued.
Please let me know how to copy background jobs scheduled by other user.
    Regards,
    Daya

    Daya
You donu2019t necessarily need to copy the jobs.
You can just change the owner of the step(s) in the jobs.
The name on the job itself will remain the same, but the job (steps) will run as the new name that you enter.
If displaying the previous owner is an issue, then you will need to copy the jobs.
    Hope this helps.

How do I copy the backround from one slide to another. Example: I want to use the background from slide 2 on Slide 4,5 & 6.
I have created my project and go to edit slide 2, Right click and select copy background, go to slide 4 and right click Paste Background. in Edit mode it works great. Once I preview in Web the slide only displays my highlightand click boxes. The backgrond is blank.
    Bob

    Hi paybob,
    Follow these steps:
    1. First identify the background image of the slide 2(right click on the slide and select "Find Background in Library").
    2. Then go to the slide 4 and double click to open the slide properties dialog.
    3. In the slide properties dialog, click "Change background image..." button.
    4. You get the "Select image from library" window. Now select the background image of slide 2.

  • Copy & Background color

    Hello
How can I change the background color from black to another color?
Can one copy a word from the text? How?
With ADE I cannot copy. With Adobe Reader I can copy.
    Thank you for your answers.

Reader and Digital Editions are not the same product.  Digital Editions has
its own set of functions, and is designed to handle different types of
files than Reader.  Do not expect to be able to do the same things with
both products.  Check Digital Editions Help (F1 key from the Library menu)
for more specific information - towards the bottom.

  • Can't copy background for grayscale manipulation

I have several grayscale scans of old black-and-white photographs in tif format. I want to improve the image quality, and the tutorial I found involves creating duplicate layers containing the original image, placing them on top of the original image, and making some changes in the added layers. I assumed I could simply copy the original and paste to create a new layer. Photoshop lets me select all but copy is grayed out. I suspect the problem is that when I started this project, I opened Photoshop, the opened the scan and saved the result as a psd. Photoshop now regards the image as a background, and apparently forbids copying a background? I tried creating a new blank psd with the same dimensions as the scanned photo, thinking I could copy the scan into the blank psd and thus create a new layer. But once again when I opened the tif, the copy option was grayed out. Seems like such a simple problem but I haven't found an answer anywhere I looked.

Under Image > Mode, Grayscale is checked.
If I right click on the Background layer, all the options that come up are grayed out. If I use the small arrow at top right of the Layers palette, everything is grayed out except Dock To Palette Wall and Palette Options. If I go to Layer in the menu bar, all options are grayed out. The image appears to be locked. I Googled how to unlock a Photoshop image, and the advice was to rename the image. Photoshop won't let me do that either.
This is really, really odd. I'm not a heavy Photoshop user, but I seem to remember doing this often in the past without any problem.

  • CS5 making copy for each action and layer

    Hello,
I'm hoping someone might be able to tell me if maybe I have my settings wrong.
I run CS5 on my desktop (XP) and it works fine.
I just installed on my laptop (windos 7) and everytime I run an action or click in a part of the action to edit, it creates a new copy (background) of my photo. I tried looking for something to link the layers, but can't figure it out. It doesnt do this on my desktop and never has. I never had to change any settings so I'm not sure why I would have to now.
    Thanks!

This is a stab in the dark because I have only needed two separate bass and treble when doing a piano part, whereas you want to make a 3rd part in the bass clef if I understand you correctly
I think you need to experiment with another Piano Score Style .. try Piano 1/3 + 4 from Score Styles and then open the Score Style Editor and add a third midi channel.
I'd be curious to hear how this works out, though there are guys on the Forum who can tell you exactly how to do this .. if they happen to see the thread and choose to reply
    good luck

  • Copy and paste in Captivate parallels

I am running Captivate in Windows via Parallels. My Photoshop
is installed on the Mac side of my computer. I am having trouble
copying backgrounds from Captivate and pasting into Photoshop to
edit them. Does anyone know of a work around other than copying
from Captivate, sending the image through e-mail to the Mac side of
my computer, downloading the image and opening it photoshop, saving
the image to a shared folder and importing the corrected image into
    Captivate as a background.
When I was running Captivate off of a pc i could just copy
from Captivate and paste right into Photoshop. HELP ME!! Any
    suggestions?

    Hi KatyMcKee
I would think the answer would lie in saving the image to
your hard drive and bypassing all the E-Mail action. Then you just
bounce over to Photoshop and open it up off the hard drive.

  • Annoying bug - program crashes when "Paste as Background" is used

Guys, I have a nasty bug which is making edits VERY time-consuming, and I'm hoping that someone can help.
When I wish to replace a slide background, either with a new background copied from Paint, or from another slide (using the Copy Background function), it basically crashes every single time if I try and perform this more than once.  (ie. I can change one background, save, close down the program entirely, restart, and I'm fine.  If I try to do a second "paste as background", the screen freezes up badly, the slide being pasted into in filmstrip view goes white, and I cannot save the changes, though it appears to save.  See the images below.
It's gotten worse as the project has increased in size.  It's now pretty big - 182 slides - though I would have expected the software to handle it.  It was occurring noticeably when the project was only 50 odd slides though.
    Thanks guys
    Lynton
    1) I copy.
    2) I paste.
    3) It's crashed.  Screen frozen, slide being pasted into white in filmstrip view.  Saving is not possible.
    4) If I restart the entire program it works OK again and I can retrieve the project up to the PRIOR save (ie. I lost work!!).  If I close just that project I get the following error, and I can't open effectively.  This error presumably holds the key to what just went wrong with the crash.

    Hi there
Sorry, but once you surpassed about 65 slides you entered the danger zone. Frankly, I'm surprised that's the only issue you are seeing with that many slides!
The recommendation is to keep projects somewhere between 50-65 slides.
Bottom line is that you need to break the project apart into different sections and make smaller segments you link together.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to activate an InfoObject in background in target system

    Hello,
after I made changes to an characteristic InfoObject in development system I have activated it in background, this has run the background job  IOBJ_ACTIVATE. When I transported the IO change and activation into the test system, the IO has been activated normally and not in background, therefore the job  IOBJ_ACTIVATE didn´t run.
Is there a possibility to transport the activation of an InfoObject in background into the target system?
    Thanks in advise.
    Best regards,
    Meba

    Hi Meba,
Since Job definitions contain system specific parameters (target host, user, program, operation mode, ...). Therefore it wouldn't make sense to develop a transport tool.
For similar reasons, copying a job across clients is not foreseen. The following trick, however, is possible: Login to the target client (the one, where the job is to be copied to). The user must have job administrator authorizations. Then using transaction SM37 all jobs in all clients can be displayed. With the "Job > Copy" option a job can now be copied from the source client (only steps, no start time).
    or
Try to create an ABAP program to export and import jobs
Refer : Copy Background jobs to another systems.
    Hope it helps.
    cheers,

  • Copying the screen image from one slide to another

Captivate automatically switched to full motion video
recording mode while a web page was loading in my demo. I don't
need to show the page building, and I certainly don't want the huge
file size required to show it, so I want to delete the video of the
page building and replace it with a static screenshot of the web
page. It doesn't want to let me do this seemingly simple task; when
I select Copy Background from the static web page slide and switch
to the live video slide, I am unable to paste the background
    in.

    > If you are wanting the same background as the previous
slide, you would just select its name.
That does nothing but display a preview of the slide
    background in the Preview pane.
    > Or, you could drag the image from the Library panel to
the slide, then merge into background to set it.
That worked. Only thing is, after I deleted the full motion
video object from the page, the slide still has a video camera icon
    on it in the Storyboard.
Is there any way to see the file size of a slide without
having to use the Bandwidth Analysis window? It's great and all,
but it takes a really long time to come up with a large
    project.

  • Client copy and JOBS

    Hello Everyone,
I have a question about client copies with jobs.
the functional user have asked us to make client copy for 2 weeks every day.
    Situation:
Copy must go from Client A to Client B. (with SAP_ALL)
Client A has jobs that also have to be on Client B.
But with Client copy the jobs wont be copied to client B.
So i have to make the jobs every they again on Client B after the copy.
My question is: Is there a way to copy jobs to client B, so that I dont have to make the jobs again every morning.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rohit

    Rohit,
Discussed lot of time, option is to create ABAP program to export/import job definitions.

  • Paste as Background option grayed out

    I'm using Captivate1. When I edit a slide, I select Copy
Background, edit it in Paint, copy it from Paint and try to Paste
as Background into Captivate. The Paste as Background option is
grayed out. It doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes I have to
close the project and reopen it and the option is working. This
time it doesn't work. There's nothing in online help about this so
I hope someone in the forum might shed some light on this.
    Thanks.

I started tracking what I was doing before the graying out
occurred. It seems like if I copy and tweak (in Paint) more than 8
or so backgrounds in a row, then the Paste as Background option
grays out. It's like the system is tired of me copy and pasting
back into Captivate. When I shut everything down and reopen it,
then the paste memory clears and the option is available. Now by
all means, this is not a technical explanation for what happens,
but it's just what I'm observing.
And yes, I'm patiently waiting for the powers that be to
    approve my upgrade to Cap2.
    Thx

  • Any way to *cut* an element from a slide?

Is there any way to cut an element on one slide (such as a
text box, mouse movement) and delete it, or cut it and paste it
    into/onto another slide?
All I see are options to Copy Background, which when you
paste into another slide it REPLACES the existing background), or
    to cut/delete entire slides.
Why would I want to do this?
Sometimes I want to remove text boxes and highlight boxes
COMPLETELY from a slide because they appear in published files even
if their layer visibility is set to hidden. (Probably a bug in CP4)
Sometimes I want to take a mouse movement and put it on
    another slide.
I see no way to work with (cut or paste) elements in the time
    line.
    Can anyone help?

Normally the Cut, Copy and Paste options are available when
working with objects in Captivate. By chance are any of them
locked? If so, that may explain why the option isn't available to
    you.
Look in the Timeline and see if there is a Padlock icon
listed. If so, click it to unlock it.
    Cheers... Rick
the were not locked, but I have found you cannot Delete a
single element if it is hidden on the timeline.
Also, you can not delete multiple elements at the same time,
and that some elements are tied to others on the timeline and you
have to delete them in a certain order sometimes.
I think Flash still has a much better timeline editing
    capabilities.
