Copy Businss Model and Presentation Layer Objects

Hi,
We have an environment whereby there is a Development DB and a Production DB.
I have built a model around the dev. DB and created answers requests. How Do I copy the model within the same repository and rename it and copy the answers requests to a different folder and use them as "Production" Answers Requests.
The rename wizard provided by Oracle only helps to Rename the Presentation Catalog.

It seems you are using one OBIEE server to host your Dev and Prod environments. That's certainly not a good idea (as Stijn says) and will not work. Answers requests are linked to a Subject Area and specific fields on that subject area. A subject area is basically a folder in your Presentation layer of the RPD. So a SA is always linked to an RPD. You are not goind to be able to achieve complete separation with a single OBIEE server. And no, it's not correct that a BI server can connect to one RPD, you can have a BI Server connecting to many RPDs. While is not supported to have multiple Presentation Services in the same server, you can have more Presentation Services on other servers that use other RPDs.

Hi Frank,
Sounds like a cross version transport is needed.
This is a solution we have used to do what you want to do:-
Create and release a transport as per normal.
Copy and transport the files from the source system (BW 3.1) e.g /usr/sap/trans/data & /usr/sap/trans/cofiles to the same folders on the target system.
Basis help is needed here.
From here onwards using stms_import should help you in the normal manner.
Works a treat.
Have transported the following all correctly appearing as 3.x data models in NW2004s.
DSO objects.
Cubes
Transfer/Update rules
Reports.

How to copy a black and white layer to the mask of another layer.....

Earlier I asked, "How?"
Got a reply, but the solution didn't work in PSE 10.
After trial and error, I figured it out.
When dealing with abstract art or even hair, it is too time consuming to make a
mask pixel by pixel.
Load the image you want to mask into a new layer and convert it to black and white. You might need to
adjust contrast/brightness to maximize the effect..
Using the Magic Wand tool, click on the WHITE area of the image.
Click Edit/Copy.
Click on the layer you want the mask copied to.
Next, click on "Add new layer mask" button on the bottom of the layers panel.
Your mask should appear and is now ready for a touching up!.

In Photoshop there are often more ways than one to achieve a task and none of them need be considered »wrong« as long as the result fits the intention, so »the correct way« seems to be problematic terminology.
Anyway, one can use a Layer set to Blend Mode Color and paint on that with whatever colors.
Or one can use Solid Color Layers set to Blend Mode Color.
Or Hue/Saturation Layers …
To edit contrast if necessary Curves or Levels Adjustment Layers can be employed.
You could also have googled »photoshop colorize black and white« …

Business Model and Mapping layer

I am trying to create a logical dimension table by dragging the corresponding table from the physical layer. However, in the business model layer it shows up with a yellow icon indicating it is a logical fact table. Please help me how I create a logical dimension table in the business model layer. Not sure what I am doing wrong here.

No I did not. Do I have to create joins even when I am dragging this object from the physical layer? Let me read and learn how to create the joins. I will get back if I will have more questions.

Left outer join (business model and mapping layer)

if there are a dimension table and a fact table, I wanna have a left join from dimension to fact (select * from dimension a left outer join fact b on a.key = b.key;)
is the selection for cardinality correct?
And I only change TYPE to "Left Outer" ?
however, I tested on this setting.
if I only select the dimension , 15xx records returned.
if I select the dimension and fact, 14xx records returned.
any wrong setting ?

Just to make I'm getting your situation correct, are the following true:
--you've got a total of 15 records in your dimension table
--you want to see every dimension record, regardless if there is any fact records that have that dimension
--if a fact record exists, it must have one of the 15 values in your dimension table.
--a single dimension record can match to multiple fact records
If those statements are true, then you want your dimension cardinality set to 1 and your fact cardinality set to N.
Then you'll want to do the left outer join like you mentioned and you should be set.

Administrator tool consists of 3 layers
Physcial layer:-It is typically first layer built in the repository.Contains objects representing the physical data sources to which the BI server submits queries.It may conatin multiple data sources.The common way is to import metadat from different databases.You can define joins after import if they are not defined.
Business model and mapping layer:-It is defined as business or logical models of data and specifies the mapping between the physical and business layers.This is where the physical schemas are simplified to form the basis for the end user.We can say data is seperated into facts and dimension tables
Presentation layer:-simplifies and organizes the business model to make it easy for users to understand and query
go through the user guides for all the definition and subject

In administratrion tool for obiee 10g, there are some property,such as export logical keys ,impilict fact column, in presentation layer. Can anybody tell me what it is and how to use it?

Refer to documentation, you can find the following on pg 300, E10540-02.
Exporting Logical Keys in the Subject Area
For each subject area in the Presentation layer, you can decide whether to export any logical keys as key columns to tools that access it. Exporting logical keys is irrelevant to users of Oracle BI Presentation Services, but it may be advantageous for some query and reporting tools. If you decide to export logical keys, make sure that the logical key columns exist in the table folders. In this situation, your business model should use logical key/foreign key joins. When you select the option Export logical keys in the Subject Area dialog, any columns in the Presentation layer that are key columns in the Business Model and Mapping layer are listed as key columns to any ODBC client. This is the default selection. In most situations, this option should be selected.
Setting an Implicit Fact Column in the Subject Area
For each subject area in the Presentation layer, you can set an implicit fact column. The implicit fact column is added to a query when it contains columns from two or more dimension tables and no measures. The column is not visible in the results. It is used to specify a default join path between dimension tables when there are several possible alternatives or contexts.

HTML5 canvas app: flash for presentation layer

Hi there,
I'm a html frontend developer, so I'm quite new to this flash environment.
For a project we're doing right now, however, we decided to go with flash for asset management and presentation layer development.
So we have an MVC javascript project "finished" already, that uses assets exported from a HTML canvas project in flash pro cc. Right now all functionality is coded inside the javascript project, and only assets, animations, etc are loaded from the exported fla. This seems to work fine. However, there is still a strong connection between the javascript views and the exported assets. Right now we're in the position where we need to reskin the whole application, and to allow external developers to design skins as well. This strong connection between assets and views is becoming a problem.
For example, at a certain point in our application we have to show a list options with a variable length. So we draw a container in flash that will contain the list, add a mask, create a scrollbar, etc. Then we have code in the javascript project that uses all these elements, adds displayobjects to the container, scroll the whole thing up and down, etc... That means that a skin designer, who only has access to the fla, is unable to make, for example, a theme where this list is shown horizontaly instead of vertically.
I was wondering how other people handle these scenarios?

you'd have to code and create the graphics for horizontal scrolling just like you did for vertical scrolling

Dumb question....presentation layer "read / write" permission

Hi, I'm curious to understand what exactly happens when you grant users "read / write" permissions on presentation layer objects? "Read" is self-explanatory...but what exactly does the "write" allow them to do?

Conflict between Client object model and Item Updated Event Receiver in sharepoint 2010

Hello All,
As per my requirement I have a two custom list.
Agent Details
Port Name
Agent Details contains Agent code, Port Name, email, address and phone of Agent. Its possible that one Agent Code is connected with multiple Port Name.
Basically what I am doing is I am getting port name connected with Agent code, using jquery and bind those values with check box(using javascript created dynamically) and bind all with Div tag.
Now when my custom edit form of Agent list open up it shows me different port name binding with checkbox group.
when user select the check box and click confirm button my clicent object model script will run and add this selected value into Port Name list.
After confirm one more button named Save will enable asking user to edit the email, phone or address value and when I click on save my Item updated event fires which update the values of the selected port name(These port name I am getting from port
name list) to Agent Details custom list.
Now when I am trying to update the values my event receiver fires or some times it got stuck(not firing). So could you please help me the possible alternative for this requirements.
Can we user the Ecma Script(Client object model to preserve the value of selectec port) and Item updated event receiver on the same time?
Is anything am doing wrong then please guide me.

As I understand, when you updated values in the agent details list the Item updated event receiver got stuck sometimes.
The item update event receiver will fire after the item has been saved, and the client object model script or the Ecma Script runs before the item is saved, so there is no conflict between the client object model script and item update event receiver.
You could find out the reason about the item update event receiver gets stuck by debugging the event receiver.
When you want to debug your event receivers, you have to attach to OWSTIMER.EXE and wait till they are executed. You can control this behavior using the Synchronization attribute. Also, if you’re looking for an easy way to debug an event receiver without
having to manually attach a debugger to your code, you can use the System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Launch() method.

i have a final yr project on java--any help plzz
Objectives:
In software development we make extensive use of models to capture details about objects in a domain, the attributes of the objects and the relationships between the objects. Once complete, these models also contain constraints on the objects and their attributes.
The aim of this project will be to develop a GUI to draw an appropriate software model and to automatically generate a set of Java classes consistent with the model that can be used to rapidly implement the software.
This research will aim at analysing the different modelling techniques and the mapping of these models to java codes.
note: any good advice..

Dependency between projects for presentations, BPM objects and external res

Hi,
I am trying to create a common project for all our exceptions, presentations and external resources...
I have updated the properties of the project1 for dependeny on project2(exceptions project)
but I am not able to see the user exception BPM Objects in the depended project to use...
Project 1 is having all code that needs to call the BPM objects, presentations and external resources on the Project 2
but these objects and presentations etc., are not visible to the project1.
please advice if I need to do anything in relation to configs apart from making the Project 1 properties to dependency --> check box ticked and selecting the Project 2.

When you use the project dependency feature, you do not see the BPM Objects in the Catalog. You see them (shown in blue) when you add variables in the process that refer to BPM Objects from the master project. You see them when you create a new attribute in your BPM object that is an BPM Object in the master project. You see them when you use them in logic inside your methods.

I'd try Dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com/), which you and your recipient both have to have. It's easy, and the free version would probably be enough. There are any number of other services available for emailing large files (google that). Of course, your recipient must have KN installed to be able to view it correctly, or can view it in PP, but with some loss, primarily transitions/animations.
