Copy command from JDBC

Hi all,
I am currently trying to use the copy command to copy data from a text file into a database table using JDBC. In my Java application I am attempting to execute the SQL copy node from 'node.txt' with Delimiter ' '; where node is the name of the table. After the SQL is executed the update count is 0.
However, when I run the same command from the SQL console in pgAdmin (I am using the PostgreSQL database) the command works correctly and as expected. I don't understand what the problem is as the command is the exact same. Has anyone else has this problem or know how to fix it?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Martin

My JDBC code is below:
Thanks.
public void copyTableFrom(
          String tablename,
          String mode,
          String path //the "absolute" path of the file
          String qrystr = "copy " + tablename + " from \'" + path + "\' with Delimiter ' ';";
          this.db.nonQueryCmd(qrystr);
public void nonQueryCmd(String cmd)
          try {
               this.st = conn.createStatement();
               this.closeStatement();
          } catch(SQLException sqle) {
               System.err.println("error occurs when execute " + cmd);
               sqle.printStackTrace();
               this.exit_nicely();
public void exit_nicely()
          this.disconnectDB();
          System.exit(1);
public void disconnectDB()
          try {
               this.conn.close();
          } catch (SQLException e) {
               System.err.println("Closing connection to database " + dbname + " failed");
               e.printStackTrace();
               System.exit(1);

  • SQLPlus Commands from JDBC Connection object

    How to execute SQLPlus command line commands from JAVA using jdbc.
    for example, would like execute commands like
    'break on <col_name>'
    or
    'compute sum of <col_name> on <col_name>'
    from Java using JDBC.
    Anyone has tried these? please write immediately, itz urgent.

    Thanks for ur reply,
    I have tried with ROLLUP and CUBE, since i am converting Sybase sqls to Oracle and try to get exactely same results.
    With, break on and compute and then select statement execution will give the same result.
    In Oracle 9i's SQLPlus Worksheet they do execute these statements. i thought some how it would be possible in java too.
    any other solns?

  • Running Copy command from Forms 6i

    HI!
    I want to run Copy command through Forms 6i i.e copy from scott/tiger@orcl insert test@msora(ename) using select to_char(ename) ename from emp;
    I can run DDL command through Forms_ddl functions in Forms 6i, But copy command is not working using Forms_ddl.
    thanks in advance.

    Dear Kami Lily,
    Oracle Forms is able to execute SQL and PL/SQL command only. Additionally it supports Operating System command by HOST built-in.
    Though COPY is a SQL*Plus command, it is not possible to execute this command by HOST built-in.
    Instead, if you hardly want to execute COPY command oracle forms 6i, then you make a batch file in operating system and run that batch file from HOST built-in.
    Thanks.

  • How do I highlight and copy material from one document to another by using keyboard commands? The tool bar is not appearing as it typically does.

    How do I copy material from one document to the next by using keyboard commands.  I am copying from Word into and external database and the external system seems to be covering my tool bar from which I would typically click editing shortcut commands.

    Highlight what you want to copy, then command - C. To paste, select where you want it to go, then command - V.

  • Copying Files From a Remote Machine through "rcp" command not working.

    Hi All,
    I'm a new comer to this famous forum. I was trying to go through the PDF "Solaris Advanced User's Guide" .So in chapter 9-"Using the network" i came across "Copying Files From a Remote Machine". And the syntax was "rcp machinename:source destination" . And i got another note. It is like
    "The rcp command enables you to copy files from one machine to another. This command uses the remote machine's /etc/hosts.equiv and /etc/passwd files to determine whether you have unchallenged access privileges. The syntax for rcp is similar to the command syntax for cp.".
    But i maintained remote machine's IP address in my system's /etc/hosts file. But still i am unable to do the rcp from remote system to my system or vice versa.
    Always i am getting error message " **Connection refused**".
    Therefore please some one guide me how to perform the " Copying Files From a Remote Machine" through rcp command.

    Hi
    The inconvenience of using scp is that you have to type the password every time you stablish a connection. You can work around this, adding a key into the remote hosts_allow file. This implies in more maintenance.
    From the rcp man page:
    +rcp does not prompt for passwords. It either  uses  Kerberos authentication which is enabled through command-line options or your current local user name must exist on  hostname  and allow remote command execution by rsh(1).+
    From the rsh man page:
    + If you omit command, instead of executing a single command, rsh logs you in on the remote host using rlogin(1).+
    By default, rlogin is disabled on Solaris 10
    [SunOS 5.10/bash] root@wgtsinf01:/store/sun/operating-systems
    # svcs -a|grep -i rlog
    disabled       May_11   svc:/network/login:rloginSo, to use rcp you have to enable the rlogin service and set up all the configuration files. Particularly, as already suggested, I too suggest you to use scp. :)
    Cheers

    Hi wayneiii,
    If you are having issues adding video files to iTunes on your Windows machine, you may want to verify that they are in a format that iTunes can play. You may find the following article helpful:

    You were right. It was a permissions issue:
    hostname:/root# ls -ltr /u02/app/oracle/product/10.2/Db_1/lib/libjox10.so

    1. It does not exist.
    2. Permissions are not set correctly.
    Determining which it is ... that is the first step.

  • Copying file from one event to another deleted large number of photos

    I was doing some house keeping on my Photo Library in iPhoto11.
    I opened a event and selected al the photos in this event and then copied them to another event. This operation took a very long time. The end effect is that in excess of 10k photos have dissappeared from my libary and are nowhere to be seen.
    I tris rebuildingt the library but this makes no imprevement but it shows that the library size reduces from 12Gb to about .5 Gb. But both librarys seems to be identical. So where have my photos gone? I have about 6 years worth of photos in this library and because of an earlier problem with OSX on my laptop I had to move this library to an external disc which is not backed up. I think I may have an older backup! I did to at any point press delete or move anything to the trash - this seems to be a software but - any suggestion how to recover my photos. I have checked the system trash and they do not seem to be there either.
    Help

    Open the event and select the photo you want to duplicate, go to the edit menu and select copy (command-c), go to all events and select the target event and go to the edit menu and select paste (command-v)
    another possible alternative it to use albums - make a new album and drag the photo to it - this saves disk space since the photo only exists once no matter how many albums you place it in - the albums simply reference the photo in the event

  • Can't copy file from SAP-directory to FTP server

    Hello,
    I can't copy files from the SAP server to the FTP server. The file is created with OPEN DATASET and CLOSE DATASET commands and is placed in the SAP-directory S:\usr\sap\DEV\DVEBMBGS00\work.
    I can see and read the file with transaction al11, so I know it's there.
    But the FTP command always gives the same error:
    S:\usr\sap\DEV\DVEBMBGS00\work\[FILENAME] errno 22: invalid argument
    I can connect to the FTP, but the put command keeps failing. Somehow, the file in the SAP directory can't be read, it seems, even when
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

    Ok, I found out that I have to use SAPFTPA as RFC destination type, instead of SAPFTP, otherwise the folders can't be located.
    But with SAPFTPA I can't seem to connect to the FTP server. I've tested the connection with sm59 and it works, but for the FTP it doesn't work. When I use SAPFTP as destination type, it still works.
    What can I do?
    Thanks.

  • Copy file from a location to another

    I work on a Java process that must be optimized and I have some questions.
    This process includes a part of copying a file from a location from another (to be more specific, all files that exist in a directory, to copy in another directory), wich technique is more efficient and quickly? To copy using FileInputStream/FileOutputStream in Java or using a java Runtime process that calls a copy command of the Operating System?

  • Copy File from Terminal Server to Workstation Failure

    Hi
    For years client have been able to copy files from our Windows 2003 Terminal Server to their local workstation using:
    copy myfile \\tsclient\mydrive\myfolder
    However we upgraded to Windows 2012 Server R2 and now Windows 7 Pro clients cannot copy files.  The copy function creates the file name in their local folder but no content is sent after maybe 20 minutes or so the copy function times out and they get
    an error message saying that the application was unable to write to the file.  I have tried this function with my Windows 8.1 workstation and the file copies properly and it works fine for older Windows XP clients.  Does anyone know why Windows 7
    clients are experiencing this issue.
    Thanks
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
    The copy command should also work on the Windows 7 clients. Please provide the detailed error message when run the command on the Windows 7 clients.
    You could also use robocopy command to achieve this.
    Robocopy

  • Copy file from local system to Azure VM using powershell

    Hi
    Is there a simple powershell command to copy a small file from local computer to Azure VM. Point to Site is not an option for me.
    I am hoping for something simple like
    Copy-Item C:\Wabash\Logfiles\trasfer.txt -Destination C:\Presentation -ConnectionUri $uri -Credential $credential
    similar to Invoke-Command
    The only other option i have seen is
    http://www.mattwrock.com/blog/copy-files-from-local-computer-to-an-azure-vm
    which i fell for my purpose is over kill.

    Hi,
    I will mark Ed's post as answer, if you fount that doesn't give you help, please feel free unmark it and follow up with more information.

  • Copy file from client PC to server in a web deployed application

    I have developed one application using Oracle forms 6i, which is deployed on the web server.
    I run this application from a client PC in Internet Explorer using internet.
    I want to copy one file from the client PC to the web server.
    I have done following things
    - Created a shared folder on the server and given full rights to every one on this folder
    - I use 'net use' command in my program to connect to this shared folder
    - I use copy command to copy file from local client pc to server. This copy command I am executing using host command of my programming (PL/SQL: eg. host('copy abc.txt \\server\share\') )
    But this does not work.
    When I do the same thing in command window, it works.
    (ie. Start-Run cmd to open command window and then type the above copy command)
    Can you please tell me, how to copy a file from client PC to the sever in Web deployed application?
    Thanks

    I downloaded D2KWUtil from the link suggested by you. It has very nice example demo form. But the documentation provided says following
    Using D2KWUTIL in Web Deployed Applications
    The use of this library is not supported with Web deployed applications.
    In a web deployment scenario not all functions within D2KWUTIL will work. Any function that interacts with the User Interface (such as those in the WIN_API_DIALOG package) will fail.
    Any interaction with the O/S by other functions will all be executed on the NT server and will act within, or return information pertinant to, the environment on that machine. For instance GET_COMPUTER_NAME will return the Server’s name, not the name of the computer that the Client browser is running on. Likewise COPY_FILE will copy files in the Forms Server not on the Client.
    Functions such as those in WIN_API_BITOP will continue to work without change.
    so this will not work in web deployed application.
    Any other suggestion?
    Thanks

  • Copying photos from one computer to another, with descriptions

    After editing photo descriptions and locations in iPhoto, it is desireable to be able to copy them to iPhoto on another computer, with the associated photo descriptions and locations.  In principle, this is possible by selecting all desired photos, then selecting File -> Export...  In the Export dialog box, in the "File Export" tab, select "Include: Titles and keywords", and "Include: Location information".  Copy the exported files to the other computer, and do a File -> Import to Library ...
    In practice, this works fine with images taken by some cameras, and not with images from others.  In my limited experience with a Fuji F80EXR and a Canon SX230HS, the above work flow works with the Fuji.  But, with the Canon, while the exported files clearly have the description data embedded in them (as seen by GraphicConverter), it is not imported into iPhoto, nor is it visible in Preview's Inspector.  The workaround I use is to run an exiftool command on the exported files.
    Exiftool is a command line utility that can read and write meta data in image files:
    http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
    I run the following command on the exported files to rewrite the IPTC Caption:
    exiftool −overwrite_original_in_place -tagsfromfile %f.jpg -ext jpg -"IPTC:Caption-Abstract>IPTC:Caption-Abstract" *.jpg
    Note that the above command overwrites the files that were exported from iPhoto.  If you wish to leave the original files intact, with an "_original" appended to the file name, run:
    exiftool -tagsfromfile %f.jpg -ext jpg -"IPTC:Caption-Abstract>IPTC:Caption-Abstract" *.jpg
    I'm not sure why it is necessary to copy and rewrite that data.  Perhaps there is something strange in the format of the meta data in the file as it comes from the camera, and the iPhoto export does not correct this strangeness. Copying and rewriting the data by exiftool seems to put things right.
    The above works for me, but is somewhat unwieldy.  Is there a better way to copy photos from one computer to another, if iPhoto refuses to import the description data that it was written to the exported files?

    Thanks for the pointer.  I did a test with 10 images, and confirmed the iPLM works, even with the problematic images from my Canon SX230HS.
    The workflow is to use iPLM to create a new Library on the computer that has the photos you want to copy.  Copy the photos to the new Library.  Copy the new Library to the second computer using a method of your choice (file sharing, USB flash drive, etc).  Copy the photos from the new Library to the existing iPhoto Library.
    iPLM costs $20, whereas my original solution was free (but you need to invest the time to get exiftool installed and working).  But, unlike exiftools, iPLM also copies over the Faces information, so it is likely a worthwhile investment if you use that feature.

  • How do I copy text from one layer to  another?

    I have Googled this but not a single answer seems to work.
    I am using Photoshop CS4 on OS X 10.6.7.
    OK, so  I  have a layer that  has some text in it.  I would like to  be able to  simply copy that  text  from one layer  to  another, but this seems to  be impossible as the Edit Paste menu item is grayed out after I have copied it in to the clipboard.  I can paste it into  the SAME layer, but not into another layer.
    This is how I am trying to  do  this.
    In the layer  with the text, click on the "T" icon to  the left.
    Click on the text, in the layer that I  want to  copy.
    I select the text (either  by  clicking and dragging or pressing Command-A).
    Next I press Command-C.
    Then I  click on the layer In the Layer Panel) where I want to  paste the text.
    Pressing Command-V is impossible because the Edit-Paste menu option is grayed out!!!!
    WHY??????
    Perhaps more importantly, HOW do I copy text  from one layer to  another?

    First thing you can simply right click on the Text Layer and choose Duplicate Layer.  But that will create a new Text Lay
    er identical to the one you have.
    To answer your question in your case....  Create the Text Layer.   Make a New Layer.  Or have the layer you want to paste into visible.
    Highlight the text layer in the Layer Palette and Ctrl+Click (Win) Cmd+Click(Mac) so that you see marching ants walking around your text.
    Edit>Copy.
    Then highlight your Layer you want to paste into and hit Edit>Paste or Cmd+V / Ctrl+V.
