Copy/Create local copy queries in Production

We´ve closed our Production environment for changes.
The problem is that some users must have access to copy queries/workbooks (that were transported from DEV) to a local copy ($TMP), in order to make changes to the structure of these copied queries. It seems that when we click on "Save query as", BW tries to save it into a Request, but it should save it as Local.....
How could it be achieved?
Thank you in advance,
Cris

Use Tcode SU53 & then try creating/changing a query...The Authorization Object required for creating/changing a query is captured in SU53 screen.
Authorizations are based on the values set for an Authorization Object.
For Eg : If a value '01' is set against an Authorization Object it means that a Create Authorization is available.Like value '02' for change etc..,
Get this authorization object with the necessary authorizations assigned to a role & have it assigned to the Users.

  • Queries in Production for Business Users

    Hello fellow SAP Security Colleagues,
I am familiar with some of the obvious reasons why query development and execution should be restricted in production and have generally agreed with the restrictions.
However, I wanted to reach out to those of you who have supported a project which either:
A.) allowed business users to create and execute queries in production  /or/
B.) allowed queries to be developed and transported to production for use by business users.
I would like more information on how this is working out for your company and what steps you are taking to make it work securely and with little performance issues.
Thank you so much for your feedback!

    Hi Teresa,
I agree with Julius and Auke, but have a fair amount of experience of working with companies who disagree....
At my current client we have a small project taking place to rationalise the use of queries.
Until recently almost all users had the access to create and change queries in the production environment.  There are approximately 3000 queries and 1500 infosets used, created, 50% of which are used over the previous 12 months.  The result of this is that many reporting controls are bypassed and there are many "versions of the truth".
For legal reasons we now need to secure the data.  This also requires robust change control over the queries.  The existing queries were transported into the development environment and access to maintain queries has been removed in Prod.
All new queries are created by a functional expert and then handed over to the development team.  The dev team review the query (make sure that it is reasonably efficient etc) and then put in auth checks into the infoset.  This is then tested and only when signed off, is transported into the Prod.
It's not an ideal situation but until most of the reporting has been moved to BI, is reasonably controlled.  What it rarely addresses is the need for consistent reporting.

  • CREATE file, SAVE a copy on local mechine, UPLOAD a copy to remote server

    Hi all,
I have a question to ask here, i am developing a pure java app (client/server) which hopefully can
    1) client > create a file (abc.txt for e.g) save a copy in local mechine,
    2) upload the file to remote server that currently connected (consider store in server?)
    3) than remove the copy in local mechine
    -OR-
    1) create a document with JTextPane, when click on "Save" button,
    2) the file will upload ( through ftp and created abc.txt in remote server)
Is this possible with java application?

    Thanks,
but do you have any idea,
    how these things can happend...
perhaps i can get some concept from you...about the program design and how the flow of the program..that could make file tranfer...to remote server.

  • How to create an identical local copy of a mail without attachments?

    Hi,
I would like to save a copy of an IMAP-Message to my db without the attachments.
As I cannot modify the original message, I tried to create a new MimeMessage with the constructor MimeMessage(MimeMessage source) and then remove the attachments - this works fine so far, but using this constructor only the body seems to get copied without subject, recipients or from-address.
Can anybody give me a hint how to create an identical local copy of a Message-Object? I would rather like to do this without installing any local third party providers.
    Regards
    Karsten

Sorry, found the problem - I did some things with the InputStream before I should not have - now the message gets saved without attachments and can be reopened.

  • Copy Key Figures between Queries

    Hi BI Gurus
I have two Queries 'Query-1' and 'Query-2' on the same InfoCube.
I want to make another query 'Query-3' which is the combination of 'Query-1' and 'Query-2'.
    I have saved 'Query-1' as 'Query-3'.
Now, I want to add all the Key Figures in 'Query-2' into 'Query-3'.
All the 3 queries are on the same InfoProvider.
    Please guide.
    Regards

    HI Anil
As mentioned by you that all th e thre queries are on same infoprovider hence all the key fig of that infoprovider are available to you in  all the quries. If a key fig is created locally then save it in a structure and copy that structure in the new query.

If SnapDrive 6.4 or 6.4.1 is in use, consider upgrading to 6.4.2 due to a known issue in bug 631829, which results in unnecessary VSS_HOLD_WRITES_TIMEOUTS errors,
due to a new ZAPI call workflow during a wafl-sync multicreation snapshot. This issue is fixed in SnapDrive 6.4.2 and higher.
If issues persist after the upgrade, or the version of SnapDrive is earlier than 6.4 or later than 6.4.2, the error is generally related to either full volumes or a potential performance bottleneck on the storage controller, and there might be a considerable
    delay in SME backup time.
If the volume is full, resize the volume to ensure it has enough space. For more information, see
2013016: SnapDrive fails to mount LUN because it tries to enable LUN space reservation
2014096: SnapManager for Exchange backup fails with error code: 0xc00402b5
The delays and timeouts can be related to SnapDrive for Windows (SDW) Transport Protocol Settings on HTTP/S protocol with a domain account rather than using a local privileged account on the storage system.  Using a domain account for HTTP authentication
can result in significantly reduced performance. To avoid this issue, use a storage system account for authentication (for example, root (7-mode), vsroot (Clustered ONTAP), or another privileged account created on the storage system(s)), instead of a domain
account for the Transport Protocol Setting on all DAG nodes.
If the issue still persists, call the NetApp support hotline and be prepared to gather some storage system-side performance data using the Perfstat tool.
For information on how to use the perfstat tool, see article 1010551: How to collect Perfstat data over RSH or SSH. The perfstat MUST
be collected during a backup where this problem is encountered to be useful for troubleshooting.

  • Permissions sticking to read-only when folders copied to local drive

Hello! So... I have a sharepoint that is read-only (archived jobs) everything works fine, but when people copy a folder to their local drive, they are forced to enter the server admin password when they try to move it to the their trash. If they copy individual files, they can erase those, but folders are retaining the server's permissions.
Everyone is on 10.5.6, I tried making the group both POSIX and ACL and it didn't make a difference.
Is there a fix? THanks - Don

Please provide a read-out of your file stricture using *ls -ela* for the directory in question, and showing a file that, when copied, becomes read-only.
Generally speaking, when a file is copied, the copy's permissions are set like this:
    * The POSIX permissions are preserved. So if they are rw-rw-r-- (0664), then they remain that way on the copy. Note that umask behavior would put those at rw-r--r-- (0644) by default.
    * The POSIX owner is changed to the action-bearing user. The action-bearing user is the one that performs the copy, so that's typically the currently logged-in user. Where the user is defined (either locally or via remote directory does not matter.)
    * The POSIX group is changed to match the POSIX group assigned to the copy's parent folder.
    * Any explicit ACLs will be preserved on the copy, if the destination filesystem supports them. (Destination filesystem ACL support is turned on in 10.5 client by default, but not in 10.4 or 10.3 client.)
    * Any inherited ACLs as defined on the original will not be set on the copy.
    * The copy will inherit any inheritable ACLs as defined on its new parent.
Now I'll take a wild guess: Since you're having this problem with 10.4 and 10.3 clients, I'm thinking that the POSIX permissions of the original file have the POSIX owner set to read-only. This would produce a read-only copy because the POSIX permissions are preserved! There is a reason for the default umask and create masks that set POSIX owner to read and write!
Of course, if this is the case, then the copy's POSIX owner can change the permissions on it and open it with read-write access.

  • How do I update a licensed local copy of Lightroom 5.7?

I shoot with a Leica, and Leica owners receive licensed local copies of Lightroom with the purchase of our camera bodies (lucky us? I'm sure the price is built in!)
I gave the Photography Creative Cloud a try, but I don't have use for Photoshop and the CC version of Lightroom caused frustrating conflicts with the existing licensed copy on my Macbook Pro.
When I attempt to update my local copy of Lightroom 5.7, I go to "Help" > "Check for updates..."
A window appears titled "Lightroom Update Available" and it lists the new software's features. HDR Merge in particular looks like something I might like to try.
When I click the "Download..." button, no download starts. Something really funny happens.
My internet browser opens and navigates to the product sales page for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC.
How can I download the update to a local licensed copy without a subscription to the Creative Cloud?

OK, wasn't entirely clear.  Adobe also posts updates on these pages:
Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh
Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows

  • Logon script - local copy/cache?

Does Windows keep a local copy of login script that comes from domain group policy? If yes, where is it?
I ask because I found that some of my users are running an old version of login script that we revised long time ( a few months) ago.

I am curious if you ever got a resolution to this?  We are having the same issue.  I am using a login script that does almost the same thing you describe, except mine simply appends a line to an existing file on each user's login (whereas you indicated
that yours creates a new file upon each login).  I use this in conjunctions with a Windows "tail" utility that watches that one file, and effectively it always displays login information across my entire (small) network.  I keep this running
on a nearby computer so that I can refer to it any time I need to.
Anyway, I recently changed the login script to add some additional information to the log each time a login is processed (%LOGONSERVER%).  I also added a new logoff script that appends to this same file.
What I am seeing is the same as what you described: some users/computers are processing the newer version of the login script and others are using the new one.  It seems to be computer-based.  In other words, if someone logs in to computer MYPC,
it always uses the new script.  If that same person logs in to computer OTHERPC, then it always uses the old script.
Since it is the login script file (a .cmd file sitting in the policy's folder tree) that has changed and not the group policy setting, it HAS to be that local computers cache a copy of the file.  Also, since I added %LOGONSERVER% to the log file
that I am watching, I can confirm that all three of my domain controllers have the new script... they all show up in the log file from time to time.  Therefore it's not a DC replication problem.
FYI - a gpupdate /force (followed by a logoff or reboot) appears to correct the problem, but I am surprised that this was required. It's been several days since I made the change, and I thought all the computers would be using the new settings on their own
    by now.

  • How to create exact copy of a table

    Hello,
I must admit my "google skills" have failed me and it is possible that I might be missing something obvious here but allow me to explain.
If I have a table that is populated/accessed by a typical OLTP application such that over time the data in the table may become "fragmented".
I know that is a very controversial term I used but that is not the question here. A simple way to describe the state of the table might be
that the table has always been populated with lots of small INSERTs, modified with lots of small UPDATEs and data has been deleted in small DELETEs.
This has meant that the data is neither closely stored in data blocks nor is in any particular order (so there are some empty blocks under HWM).
Now my question is how do I create exact copy of this table and its indexes AS THEY EXIST AT THE MOMENT that includes
    1) its data
    2) its constraints/indexes etc.
    3) its storage parameters
    4) data stored in EXACTLY same manner as in original table.
To avoid complications, the table in question is just a normal heap table without any partitioning involved. While CREATE TABLE AS SELECT (or CREATE
TABLE followed by INSERT) will take care of points (1) to (3) above, it will not achieve point (4) above.
    Can somebody please help?
    Thanks in advance.
