Copy/Edit default Report templates

Hi,
I am given the following template options in the "Report Template" list on the Report Attribute page
of a report region:
default: HTML (standard)
default: Look 1
default: Look 2
default: Look 3
default: Look 4
default: vertical report, look 1 (exclude null columns)
I want to modify the vertical report template, so I tried to make a local copy of it using the "Templates" page in the "Build" Menu.
I used the "Create/copy" button of the "Report Templates" region, and then "Choose one from the HTML DB repository", and I am only shown these 2 templates:
Alternating Rows
Alt Rows,Navy Gray
Where can I find the default templates such that I can make modifications?

It sounds like you want to write your own HTML thats what modifing tempaltes entails beyond that I agree having those templates avaiable would make your job easier.
But at the moment you have no way to get at the default templates. I'll see what i can do about getting an application in HTML DB Studio that has the default templates as report templates so you copy the report templates to your app.
If you have HTML DB 1.6 there are a large amount of examples and reports in the different themes you can try as well.

Access to customizing default: report templates

I seem to remember far back in the corners of my memory, someone here on the forum mentioning that although we didn't have access at the time (probably back at HTMLDB 2.0) to customize the default report templates, that there were plans to make this an option in a future version of Apex. Does anyone have any idea if this is something that is being planned, or better yet, available today?
If you're not sure what I'm talking about I'm referring to the field that says 'Report Template' in the 'Layout and Pagination' section of the 'Report Attributes' page in the application builder.
The problem I'm having is that I'm using the 'default: vertical report, look 2 (show null columns)' report template and I've got some long column headings that I want to include a line break between each word of the heading, so they're stacked vertical instead of wide horizontally. I've add HTML break tags to the headings but they're disappearing when the page is rendered.
I've made sure to set the 'Strip HTML' setting to 'No', but whether it's set to yes or no doesn't matter, the headings display the same either way.
BTW, doing the same thing in a template based multi-row report seems to work fine. However, trying to use/apply the 'Value Attribute Pairs' report template yields the same result as the default vertical look template.
So I have 2 questions:
1) anyone know how I can make these heading words stack up vertically, one word to a line?
2) are we going to get access to customize the default report templates?

Probably the best way to do this is to just hard code
a <br /> between your words.That's exactly what I'm doing (and what I said in my original post), however those breaks are disappearing during page rendering when I choose the report templates I mentioned.
I don't understand why this technique works in the multi-row report templates and not in these vertically oriented value/attribute report layouts.

No, you should just use a regular theme based
template, the default report templates are there for
backwards compatibility and well basically for people
that don't care about the UI. Since your at the point
it seems you do care about UI the proper thing to do
is to move to a standard report template that you
have full control over.Fair enough. I'll look into that, but I think there's still an open question here as to why the HTML breaks aren't being returned in the page markup for these report layouts.

How to customize 'default: *' report templates

Hi,
where are 'default: *' report templates defined? They are not listed among other templates.
What I need is to create a customized template based on 'default: vertical report, look1 (exclude null columns)'.

default: report templates are hard-wired into APEX and can't be modified in the way that theme templates can.
Using the web inspector in a browser with developer tools like Safari or Firefox+Firebug you can examine the source of the rendered report with a default: template to determine the HTML structure and class(es) used and the CSS selectors applied by APEX, then either override these in your own style sheet, or create a custom theme version of the template from scratch.

Where can I find Default Report Templates to copy from ?

I want to make a new report template from an existing one.
The existing one I want to make a copy of and edit is the Default: Look2 template.
Darned if I can find it when creating a new report template.
I have been through all other applications to try and no luck. Can anyone guide me to where I can find this to make a copy of ?

Modifying Default Report Templates

APEX v3.0.1.008
I have created an application using Theme 12.Blue and am evaluating the different templates that are available out-of-the-box. The Default: Look 2 template best meets my needs in terms of layout but unfortunately has Sand colouring so I'd like to be able to customise this to change the Sand colours to Blue.
When I navigate to Shared Components -> Templates -> Report I do not get the opportunity to Copy or Modify this Template. Can someone please explain why is this the case and any workarounds to be able to modify this Report Template?

Hey Alistair,
I'm not sure how your solution solves the problem. When I go to Themes, click on my theme and look at the template for that theme, I see a bunch of different items for each type, like button, region, etc. Most of my pages simply say look at the defaults in the template and I want to change those defaults. On the template page I see some are checked as the default and I'd like to change to a different one if possible.

Report Template Layout Editing

Hi all,
I have few questions to check with you with regards to the report creation process.
I read on the SAP help portal and it states the report creation process.
Step 1 u2013 Create Report template (i.e. using CG42)
Step 2 u2013 Edit the report layout
I am stuck on this step as the explanation on this report template layout editing is very confusing.
Two Questions:
1 u2013 Do you have any documentation or any website (i.e. other than SAP help portal) that explain the step by step with screenshot on how to edit the report template layout? if you have the document can you send to me using my profile address?
2 u2013 If I want to import a report template (i.e. a report template that had already went through all the editing process), how to import it into the SAP, what steps and what transaction codes is used for this step?

Q) What is difference between T.code CG3Z & T.Code to CG34? I bet the one that allow me to import the report template is CG34?
Ans: e.g. you file has saved on Desktop. so first step is to upload the file from Deskop to Application Server which is CG3Z
and once it is uploaded to Application Server ( Directories), you can import the template from Application Server ( Directories) to Libraries with the help of CG34.
CG34 can only import from Directories and not from the Desktop. so both the T.code must be used in sequential manner.
Q) How do I drag and drop those symbol into the Microsoft word sheet on the right screen?
Ans: once you open the CG42. here select the Symol Tree which is nothing but the Property Tree of Specification Workbench.
selec the appropriate Value Assignment and Characterstic and then Below to that that is Buttion "Insert WWI Object in Template" ( + Symbol in Green Colour) , click that Button to Addd it to template. then add the Main Repeating Group i.e. Value Assignment Name the again click on "Insert WWI Object in Template" to add the same to Templates.
Q) After I had imported an external report template into the SAP, how to open it up in the SAP in order to allow me to view it or to edit it?
Ans: See once the ready made template is imported the you can directly assing that template to Generation Variant in CG2B.

Report template auto-changed to Default: HTML

I use the builtin report template "Default: Look 4" for all of my report screens and have a problem when importing the application with a new Application ID.
All reports that use the "Default: Look 4" template get changed to "Default HTML" in the new application and I have to manually change them all back again. This is a real pain because I use the application ID as a form of version control - the old versions of the application are auto-forwarded to the new one - so I end up having to do the change quite often.
Is there a way I can prevent the template from changing?

If it's any help to you, I did a bit of 'vanilla' testing ...
- create a new workspace TEST
- Edit Page 1 of the Sample Application
- Note that the region "My Top Orders" is using layout "template: 12. Standard, Alternating Row Colors"
- export the Sample Application
- import the Sample App with Auto-Assign New App ID selected
- Edit Page 1 in the new application and note that the region template for "My Top Orders" is still set to "template: 12. Standard, Alternating Row Colors"
- Change the template for "My Top Orders" to "default: Look 4"
- Export application
- Import application with auto-assigned AppID
- Edit "My Top Orders" and note that template is changed to "default: HTML (standard)"
The template is only changed when the exported application uses one of the "default: Look X" templates, other templates are not changed. Also, importing into the same or different application makes no difference, the template is still changed.

Edit the default wiki template on Mac OS X Server

I'm so new to this, I have a Mac Xserve with Mac OS X Server, I successfully enabled the following services and all up and running smoothly according to the criteria of my company:

I need to know how to edit the main template of the wiki and blog server (start page) to be able to add our company logo and so....
otherwise, I need to know if I can ser Unicode on it to add RTL languages like Arabic, I know I can type Arabic in the topics and there is not problems with this.

You will create a custom theme. Copy all the .xsl files into your theme folder. Modify default.xsl for most of the sub-level pages. Modify group_listing.xsl for /groups and /users pages. Your server index page is located in Library\WebServer\Documents. Most of what you want to do can probably be done through CSS.
Once your custom theme is finished set it as the default in the Admin Panel.

"Default look" report templates are hard-wired into the APEX engine and cannot be modified. You could look at the HTML source of a rendered report to figure out any classes etc used and try to come up with CSS to override the default appearance, but the best approach would be to use the rendered source in conjunction with Firefox+Firebug to figure out how the report is structured and styled and build a custom report template based on this.

Hiding default report parameters in XLS template& password for analyzer

Hi,
I created a xls report in that report i don't have any parameters.But when i open that xls template i am getting the default Report Parameters at the top of the report
with a column1(under this we have a drop down with options All,Top10,Custom...) like this
When i open the Excel Analyzer from xls(Alt+F11) when i double click on the excelAnalyzer its asking password what is the default password??

Report template default: Look 3

How can I increase the column width of a report region with report template default: Look 3? I selected 'No Template' for the region but 'default: Look 3' for the report template.

Hello,
You can't with the default report Look's as they aren't really a template just hardcoded html.
Pick one of the report templates out of the theme you are using then you can adjust the html or css as needed.

EHS-Error while editing Report template

Hi Gurus
I am getting a vague error while trying to cancel release of existing report template. I need to edit the same. Hence i am cancelling the release. Please let me know if any of you have got this error before and how did you solve it?. Also i have done changes in Dev and QA. But i get this error only in prod.
The error details are as below.

Report Template Preview/Copy Error

Good afternoon,
I get an error (Report error: ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence) when I attempt to preview or copy a report template. I am able to preview all other templates in Shared Components. I am training myself in APEX. I am using oracle.apex.com and the workspace I requested. This occurs in the applications I have created via the APEX OBE's, the applications I have created via the Beginners Application Express 4 book, and all of the Sample Applications I have installed.
Any ideas of why I am getting this error.

Property Tree IN Edit Report Template

Dear mayank,
You can create a new node in the property tree only by customizing.
First you need to know what characteristics it should have as this is part of a class.
I have listed the steps below which might be helpful.
First Create a characteristic(s) for the node which is actually a Value assignment type using CT04.
Create a Class using CL01 with class 100 and Assign all the characteristics to this particular class.
identify under which property tree, your node should appear.
for eg: Goto the txn CG02, select any real substance, in the property tree of IH, select any value assignment type under a node Limit values and regulations such as labelling(EU) and press F1 to view its description and u will find the Value assignment type as SAP_EHS_1023_001.
In customisizing, Select Setup Property trees under EHS - basic data tools - specification management - Specification database structure - Settings for value assignment type .
Select your property tree eg IH, select value assignment type assignment and insert your node.
By this way, U will be able to insert your node in the property tree. Now exit the screen and goto txn CG02 to find your node listed in property tree.
Go to Set Up Property Trees under SPRO; select the standard property tree and click on Value Assignment Type and assign the Class to a Node under which you want to.
i.e adding a node in a property tree.
Prerequisites for adding an node to a property tree.
Creation of class (T_code CL02) & Charactertics (T_Code CL04)
Assigning the charactertics to class.
Assigning the VAT to the Property Tree
Now you need to assign the VAT to the property tree, make sure you give the correct ID & level so that the new node appears in the exact level as you desired.
