Copy Entry Workflow

Hallo there,
i need a very short workflow.
After creating an Wiki Entry this entry should be copied to another folder.
Sounds easy and i tried it, but with no success and i guess because of this restriction (from docu):
Copy Entry: Allows you to copy an entry to a new location in Vibe when it enters or exits a specific state.
When used as an On Entry event, this event cannot be used in the initial state of a workflow or in any workflow state that is immediately transitioned to from the initial state with an Immediate Transition.
But i should work very easy without further user interaction (for example with manual transition, with that my workflow is working)
Background:
I need a solution to display a "list of recent entries" on the landing of one folder "including" his subfolders. And so my workaround was to copy every entry in this folderstrukture after creation temporarely to a further folder for example "Recent entries" and link this folder with standard elements to our landing page.
Or any other ideas for my problem?

Hello Heiko,
you could add an accessory element to your landing page, add a community accessory "Search results". Leave the search field empty, so you are searching for every entry not only some terms, then choose the folder and mark "Search All Sub Places". You can also define how many results should be shown.
The accessory on your landing page will look like a news feed.

Hi,
In PFTC, give the original workflow number.
Click on copy button from application server.
Give the new name.
Open new workflow, you can find even sub-workflow which is in original one.

seegal: haven't tried that, the formatting most likely would be lost. Tried that with an other Exc el spreadsheet- it lost all the formating and pasted as continous text.

System Copy for Workflow objects

Hi Experts,
My client need to migrate code in some request from one system(Sandbox) to another system(Development). They r not adivicing me to transporting the request. They want to migrate each individual object. Could anyone suggest me how can I do this migration for workflow objects. Can I have an option of import and exporting the workflow template and taks.

Hello Jose,
The fastest and most painless way is to create them in the new system. There are just too many problems to sort out and the export function is a joke.
A quick tip: have two sessions open, switch between them and copy/paste your task texts etc.
Sorry it's not the answer you want, but it's going to save you the most time. It's not as much work as it seems, a couple of hours per workflow at most.

N80 - Copying Entries in Calendar Mode

This may be an obvious one to many of you, but I can't work out how to copy and paste entries in the N80's Calendar mode. There must be a way, as repeating entries can be tedious.
Anyone?

Open the calendar entry you want to copy and hold down the little pencil key (bottom left of screen keypad) and use the D pad to move the cursor across and highlight the the text you want to copy and - whilst still holding the pencil key down select Copy. Then go to the date you want to copy the entry to and open it, hold down the pencil key again and selct Copy, do this as often as you like.

Regarding Copy Control workflow

Will anyone suggest me, i have copied a purchase requisition from user D1 to user ID2. Once it has copied to ID2 it should work as per the workflow which is assigned to ID2. But it is taking *ID1 workflow* is there any way to stop it and assign it to ID2 workflow. Will anyone guide me.

can anyone tell me how to copy a entire workflow into a new workflow?

As Mike suggested you can copy a WF in the start screen of PFTC. You need to define the complete workflow container in the new workflow. There is a way to bypass this job:
Create a new workflow.
Go to the workflow builder (by pressing the button)
Go to the menu path:
Edit->Insert Workflow.
This will open a popup in which you can enter a WF number. The complete definition including the container is inserted into the new workflow.

Workflow required for approval for a parked document. Depending on the amount in the document, it goes for approval to different people.
Can anyone tell me which BO to be used and is there any standard wf template for this?

Copy DVD workflow

Hi,
I need to make a copy of a documentary that is on a DVD. It is not a commercial DVD or region protected. I am hoping to be able to make a copy via FCP. I have been able to open the files on the DVD via Streamclip and have the whole sequence in the timeline. I just need to know what the next steps are to get it to DVD and what export settings are best. Also, if there is a better way to do this, please let me know!

Assuming that you have the rights to duplicate the DVD, why convert it with MPEG Streamclip only to have to recompress it again? Did you need to do any editing - you didn't mention any.
If all you want to do is duplicate the DVD, why not do it the normal way?

Extended Table Maintenance Events 05: Original line when copy entry?

Hello,
in the Extended Table Maintenance <b>Events 05</b> I want to <b>copy</b> my own tables. For that I need to know not only the newly created line, but also the original line which was the template for the copy.
I know this line is contained in table EXTRACT, but how do I identify it?
Is there an index pointing to the "old" line inside EXTRACT?
Is there a work area containing the old line?
I thought workarea EXTRACT contains the old line and <TABLE1> the new line, but debugging proofed that both are the same.
Any idea?

Copying entries in AW6 spreadsheet

I have AW6 and am working with a spreadsheet. The SS has some long columns using an equation. I can copy the equation using Command-C and copy to the cell below by using Command-V. I then go down the column copying one cell at a time. Is there a way to copy the same equation to all the cells in the column at once?

Hi George,
Select the cell with the formula and the cells beneath it that you want to fill with the formula, then go to the Calculate menu and choose Fill Down.
You can also fill in formulas or values to the right of the original cell using the Fill Right command.
Keyboard shortcuts for the two commands are command-D and command-R respectively.

Virtual Copy Name/workflow issue

I offer my wedding clients 3 or 4 versions of an image. I rename all my images before export to jpg start 1. However virtual copies are exported with the same file name but just a version e.g. rob 10-3.jpg (which is obviously the 3rd virtual copy of rob 10.jpg).
The problem is that when the client comes back to me with a FINAL list of photos for their album, and tell me Rob 10-3.jpg, I'm nots sure which virtual copy it was.
SO - is there away to rename all files as a batch including virtual copies so they get their own unique file name?
If this is an easy question and I'm missing the obvious I apologise in advance!

You could try changing the copy name to "bw" or "sepia" or "crop" etc. Then in the Export dialog set up the filename to something like <VC><filename>.
So select the VC's in the grid, reveal the Metadata panel and look for copy name. You can then select all the b&w's, and enter bw in that field.

Workflow copy...

Hi,
In my scenario I have a custom workflow working fine. I need to create another workflow that works exactly the same, only difference is that the Business object associated is different (but has all the necessary methods / attributes as of first workflow ).
So I copied the first and did the following:
1. Added my new business object in the workflow ocntainer and removed the old one.
2. Changed all the bindings.
and it worked fine !!!
I just want to confirm if my understanding is correct...
1. By doing above, will my first workflow be affected in any way ?? Any of the bindings for first workflow ?
2. In the first workflow there is a step called 'Send mail' and it has the text and data referring to the first workflow. When I copied it to new workflow, I changed those text so that it describes the second workflow, i..e the subject the body text etc. Now this step is bound to a task which was defined in first workflow.
My question is should I just change the subject and body text and save that as part of second workflow ? Will this change impact the first workflow ? Do I need to create a new task under any scenario ?
{{ In other words, do I have to create a new task for the second workflow for the step 'send email ' ?? }}
Just want to make sure , copying the workflow is not affecting the original in any way ...

Hi,
If you share one task between two workflows any change you do in the task will affect both workflows. And texts are at task (TS) level. So if you need to change text in your copied workflow and don't want the first workflow to be affected you've better create new tasks as well. This includes sendmail steps: there are also tasks behind these and the text you maintain in the sendmail step is in fact saved in the sendmail step's task.

I would like to copy a workflow I created on my testing site and paste the workflow in to my production environment. I really don't want to rewrite the entire workflow over again in production.

According to your description, you might want to copy a workflow from your test site to another site.
As a workaround, in SharePoint Designer, you can use the option “Export to Visio” to export your workflow as a .vwi file, and import the workflow to another
site using the option “Import from Visio”.
