Copy from own disc to edit in FCPX

I've a created a disc containing 54 mins of HD material (BVMD video) which I wish to re-edit in FCPX but my lion OS 27" screen i7 iMac doesn't show it anywhere. Help!

Well - in the absence of any knowledgable type to answer my query for me I've solved the problem for myself but not necessarily for everyone unless they have another Mac like I have, the MacPro 1.1, 2006 model with FCP6.
I transcoded the contents using ClipWrap and saved to HD 2 then imported them to FCPX where I carried out the usual editing process. Solved.

Moving from SD to HD editing on FCPX

I've been editing SD on FCPX with my maxed out Mini:
10.10 Yosemite
2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600MHz DDR3
Intel HD 4000 1024MB Graphics card
Acer x223W monitor
I'm shooting on miniDV tape and using a Sony DSR-40 to import the video (through Quick Time Player since FCPX imports terribly, out of sync) using a USB 3.0 external HD.
I just bought the Sony HVR-A1U HD camera and I'm wondering if I need to upgrade any eqpt to edit and export in HD?
Will I need to use the camera instead of the DSR-40 to import?
Will I need a higher resolution monitor?
Anything else?

Video Tape Player.
I appreciate the suggestion of capturing all in one file to protect the transport, but editing from a lengthy clip is a bit unwieldy compared with separate clips for individual scenes. I've never used my camera as a tape player, seems too much wear on my most expensive production equipment. That's why I'm wondering if I use something like the Sony DCR-hc38, which I can pick up used for under $200., will give me the same quality HD playback as my A1U.

Copying from one iphoto library to another/working with multiple libraries

my current workflow involves having a 'master library' on one of my external HDs where i store ALL of my images (35,000+) and a 'working library' in my macbook pro where i dump most recent pics first. typically i dump to the working library & then about every 3 months, i burn those events onto disc(s) from within iphoto, open my master library and copy from the disc into the master library. then i will seasonally clear the working library out other than a few portfolio items i may want to keep there.
in the past, when i copied onto the disc and then into the master library, the event names and ratings would copy over too (although if i'd keyworded them, that would get screwed up, so i stopped). now it's not working! the correct event names and ratings show up on the disc, but they are not copying into the master library. i believe this is since i upgraded to ilife 09.
any ideas? it is essential to my current workflow to preserve those event names and ratings. i turned 'autosplit' off in preferences. i tried turning it on. anyone else have experience working with more than one library like this?

thanks larry, i'll check it out and let you know if that solves it. should the free version be sufficient? looks like this could be a really big help if it actually works, cuz i would like to create a 3rd and 4th library for other purposes but not if it's just going to make things more of a pain for me.
i assume this should help with the keyword issue i was having before too? (if i keyworded pics in my working library, the keywords on those pics once copied to the master library would be wrong, it would apply other keywords sometimes, most of the time...)

Option 1: Goto ME21N, In item Overview move to right side to 4th last column "Purchasing Doc." enter your PO number & press enter, PO will get copied if 1 item is there , otherwise if more than 1 item in PO then it will ask for which item Number you want to copy.
Option 2: Enter ME21N T.Code
Click u201CDocument Overview onu201D
Click u201CSelection Variantu201D and Select Purchase Orders and Enter your PO No. & execute
you will be able to view in document overview the PO No & Item No,
Select the PO you need to copy & Click u201CAdoptu201D and you will see all PO details related copy to new PO which you can save.
Option 3: Enter ME21N T.Code
Click u201CDocument Overview onu201D
Click u201CSelection Variantu201D and Select Purchase Orders and Enter your PO No. & execute
you will be able to view in document overview the PO No & Item No,
Now select 1st item and press Shift button(or you can also use Ctrl button on your keyboard for randomly selecting the line item) & with mouse select all line items and click 'Adopt' button (next to selection variant button).
All the 100 items will get copied in the New PO.

Is it possible to edit quantity field or add a new row to a goods receipt copied from a purchase order that has been approved ?
if this behavior was changed from past releases or it always was like that?

You can find the Copy, Paste, and Cut buttons next to Firefox > Edit (and in its sub menu) and in the regular Edit menu on the menu bar (press F10 if the menu bar is hidden).<br />
The buttons next to Firefox > Edit are enabled if there is something to do with them, just like with the toolbar buttons.<br />
You can find the Copy, Paste, and Cut toolbar buttons in the toolbar palette in the Customize window and drag them on a toolbar.<br />
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.

Can preset plugins be copied from Cool Edit Pro to Audition?

Can preset plugins be added/copied from Cool Edit Pro to use in Audition? There are just some equalizer settings in CEP I liked a lot and they are not in Audition.

Even though it might be possible, you might also not like the results any more - the EQ engines have been rebuilt and there's no guarantee that they will sound the same at all.
There are no guarantees, but if it's going to work at all, you find the Cool.ini file in preferences, and drop it onto the Audition icon on the desktop. Has to be the right ini file though - it's the one that's normally hidden in your user preferences, and much larger than the one that's easy to find.

Make Copy from Original After Editing?

I frequently make many adjustments to a photo, maybe even edit further in Photoshop, and then at a later date I want to make another copy of the original image in LR. If I know ahead of time that I'm going to want several versions of an image I can make Virtual Copies before I make any changes, but sometimes I decide I want a copy of the original image after I've already made many adjustments. How do I make a copy of the original after I've made many changes?
I vaguely remember a pulldown menu command in LR1 or so that said "Make copy from original" but I don't see it in LR3.

Well, you can worry about that if you prefer. But the way I look at it, it's always possible to display a before/after. So if Lightroom is capable of always showing the before view of the image it seems to me that it should always be able to restore the image to that point. Remember, none of the changes made in Lightroom are permanent. All editing is nondestructive. In other words, the original image data is always intact. It's good enough for me. If you want more reassurance then maybe someone else has a better idea.

Cannot edit header price when sales order copied from sales order

I have a requirement to copy a sales order with Freight manually added in Header Pricing to another sales order. The Header Price for Freight is grayed out on the target document and the requirement is to have that price field open to edit. I've tried several copy control settings to no avail. Will a copy control routine need to be written in order to open the freight price field for edit in the target document?

Hi Nancy,
Validate the Pricing Type in the copy control at item category level, by default Pricing type is equal to A (Copy price components and redetermine scale), which can be adjusted to adjust your requirement in copying from another sales order.
Make sure your setting in the condition type under "Changes which can be made" are supporting the necessary changes a user needs to make.

Where should I load AVCHD clips from 4 cameras to edit in Multicam in FCPX?

Hi,
Recently, I imported 90 minute segments from 4 HD cameras onto an external drive connected to my MacPro 1,1 via ESATA to do multicam edits in FCPX. When I opened them in FCPX one segment would show fine, two became jerky, and 4 would not play at all. Was this because I was trying to pump too much video "volume" through the ESATA connection? (I recently installed an ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB graphics card)
I have another 4-camera 90-minute shoot coming up in a few days. Where/how should I load the footage so I can work with it in multicam?

You may need a faster drive (RAID); But for starters. try working with Pro Res Proxy.
This is from p 378 User Manual:
If performance becomes an issue while you’re working on a multicam project, do any of the following:
␣ Set Final Cut Pro to use proxy playback by selecting “Use proxy media” in Playback preferences. Proxy playback allows you to play back more angles at a time. To use proxy playback, you must have proxy versions of your media available, or you must create proxy versions.

No permission to copy from Adobe Digital Editions to Kobo

My computer recently died and I bought new one. I can not copy from Adobe Digital Editions to my Kobo now. It says I don't have permission. When I try to log in with my Adobe ID it says I can't use the same ID on a different computer. Advice? Thanks

You need to make sure the kobo is registered with the same Adobe ID that the main ADE (digital editions) is registered with.
If the main ADE is not registered with an explicit Adobe ID yet, return the book, register ADE with your ID, and borrow the book again.
To register ADE (if not already registered), menu/Help/Authorize Computer on ADE2, (Library/Authorize Comptuer on the older more reliable v1.7.2).
To register a dedicated ereader kobo once ADE is registered, connect kobo by usb and in ADE use menu/Help/Authorize Device on ADE2, (Library/Authorize Device on v1.7.2).
If the kobo is a tablet device you may need to follow kobo instructions to register the Adobe ID using the app on the device rather than via ADE.

Edit "Copy From button" on A/R Invoice

Is there any way that we can make the text that is copied from.. lets say for eg: from Sales Order -> Outbound Delivery as uneditable. The person creating the delivery should only be able to display it. Is this the way standard SAP behaves, if not how can i take care of this problem ?

Mac Pro 2008 won't boot from install disc - black screen

Hello,
I recently purchased a new hard drive to replace the original that came with my Mac Pro 2008. I was able to format the new drive using Disk Utility. I am now at the point where I need to install OS X onto the new drive, but the computer refuses to boot from the disc. The disc is recognized by the computer (I can access the disc and am able to use the BootCamp applications, etc.) but I just get a black screen when trying to boot directly from the disc. The computer boots fine otherwise.
I have tried the following:
I have tried using both the gray install disc that came with the computer and the Snow Leopard Install DVD disc.
I have tried booting using the "C" key and the "option" key but still receive a black screen following the chime (I've held these down for several minutes).
I have tried restarting from either install disc using the Bootcamp Assistant.
I have tried running the installation software to get it to restart from the disc.
I have tried a combination of the drives, i.e. trying to boot from the discs with just the new drive installed, just the original drive installed, and with both in bay1 and 2.
Everything results in the computer starting up, hearing the chime, and then nothing..just black screen. I have the original drive partitioned with BootCamp with OSX Snow Leopard and Windows 7 installed (I don't know that that matters).
I am at a loss as to what to try next. It doesn't seem like the superdrive because it is recognizing the disc, it just won't boot from it.

Clone should be a must and easy to do and learn (learn by doing! 2)
6800 would 'qualify' as 5x70 series flashed etc and same rule: 10.6.5
In the past there was 10.4.6, 10.5.6, but not 10.6.6 - even though strong need for such a DVD.
10.6.8 DVD would be excellent
Lion or ML - buy, download, make an installer flash card would be what I would do at this point.
Then keep both - dual boot as you learn and test and see what ML does and waht you had that required Rosetta to support PowerPC. See www.roaringapps.com about that.
With Carbon Coyp Cloner - was share, now commercial, great utility been around since 10.2.2 at least - this time 2003. 10 yrs.
You can clone the system folders, you can even selectively choose. You can skip copy of most of your home account and do that separately to another drive if you want.
Clone Windows with Paragon or WinClone and use Windows 7 or 8 DVD to do a system repair (automatic) or to edit the BCD file. It can and should - and all you do is boot Windows 7 DVD w/ only the one drive present and go at it. Piece of cake. But yes, Windows gets fussy if you change or remove or move. BCD to the rescue. A proper program for cloning like Paragon's "Clone OS" meant for going from disk drives to SSDs, knows that and how to do it.
Back to how to clone etc:

Disk utility has RESTORE which will also clone your system but not the Lion Recovery partition. Oddly Apple did not 'endorse' making bootable clone of the system which works too but most choose Carbon Copy Cloner - it works more consistently; it allows for smart update of the backup volume. Both can backup to a sparse disk image if desired.

The DVD is dependent on your hardware. And your hardware changed. The drivers for the 5780 and 6xxx are bundled in the OS and lacking. Minimum build thing.
Put the new drive anywhere you want. Does not matter. Can move it later. Can be drive bay 0-3 or a Firewire external or under the DVD drive.
When you clone pull the old drive and boot from the newly cloned.
After that keep a backup clone around all the time. Takes less than 10 minutes to do a smart update to copy just the changes to keep it current. So you have working copy of the system. I keep Clone "A" that I keep "as was" the system as of last month or whatever (like 10.7.4 before upgrade to 7.5).
Comes easier after doing it once and have all your ducks in a row.
