Copy ftp start -- can we use a nondefault port?

I have a limited availability of server assets and IP addresses and would like to separate the folders for anonymous general ftp connections and those used for router maintenance. Can I use port 2121 for example: copy ftp://[email protected]:2121/startup.txt start I tried it and it always goes to the IIS FTP site that is running port 21.
IOS version is c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-19.bin

Many routers provide an ALG on port 21 to listen on FTP commands to sniff out the port that needs to be open for active mode to work. However, that only works on port 21 in most causes.... so it doesn't work on non-standard
ftp ports.
Your can setup your FTP server for passive mode FTP (you'll need to forward an additional range of ports to the computer running the FTP server, specify within IIS to use those forwarded ports, and tell IIS to use
your WAN ip as the passive mode ip).

Well if you want to connect anything with 10g to a 3750X, you're limited to using a module with 10g ports.
Other than 10g capability on some module cards, something to note, the module ports, I believe, are supported by larger buffers (including the gig module ports).
As the others have noted, you can use any port for any purpose.  However, if you connect a server to a 10g port, be aware you might start to see drops on your other host (gig) ports as the server will now be able send faster than the host port can receive data.  To minimize this, you might either disable QoS on the switch (providing maximum buffers to all egress traffic) or you might need to tweak buffer resource settings (the default settings often drop some packets, when there are bursts, of default marked packets).

  • Can I use the ethernet port ....

Can I use the ethernet port on the ATV to connect my blue ray p[layer to the internet using the ATV as a wireless card??
    If so how??

I might be next in line on the airport extreme! Right now wireless is working better since the latest upgrade to iTunes, but hardwire is the way to go. Only problem is that ISP connections is in my office and my Home Media is downstairs. I was thinking of setting the Airport Extreme as a repeater in order to access ISP and then used the ports in the back for iTunes and ATV.

  • Can I use the Ethernet Port for a computer when it is also used as a wireless network with an Airport Extreme as the access point for the wireless network

Can I use the Ethernet Port  of the A1264 Airport Express to connect to the Ethernet port of a computer that does not have wireless capability when the Airport Express is also used on a wireless network with an Airport Extreme 5th generation as the access point for the network?
    I have AE 5th gen
looking to buy (from ebay) the AEX A1264
Various computers, printers and hubs for the network
    Is this possible to do?

Bob, Thanks for the info. I have read different articles that said yes, but I wanted to make sure before I commit to buy. I have an older A1084 which I could not use the Ethernet port. I know at one point I was able to when I was on 10.4. Now that I am on an Intel processor and 10.8 I am going to have to upgrade some of my Apple wireless hardware.
    Thanks Again.

  • How can i use the parallel port

I was wondering how to adress my PC´s
    parallel port. I did'nt find a suitable

Do I have to read/write somehow directly
to the port adress in memory 0378 ...?
If so, how can this be done ?
    Thanks for any help,

Use VISA to read/write to the parallel port just like you would read/write
to the serial port. I would staty away from the inport/outport stuff. I believe
there's some articles in the KnowledgeBase if you get stuck.

  • Can I use RS-485 port as RS-232

I have a PCI-485/2 board. I have one of the ports connected to a devices using RS485 protocol. Can I use the other port and connect it to a RS232 device?

The physical transceivers for RS-232 and RS-485 are different, and thus are not configurable. With regards to the converter, I do not have any specific recommendations, but a quick glance at the B&B Electronics catalog shows a couple of dozen different options that run from $70-$125. Which model you need will depend on the features you're looking for: connectors, max baud rate, surge protection, power source, isolation, etc.

  • CSS 11501 ftp server setup problem using non-standard port

    Dear Expert,
we would like to setup FTP server over CSS where our member sever use non-std-port to open both control/data channel (i.e. 6370 as ctrl and 6369 as data this case.) but seems we only get Passive mode FTP mode work only but not for Active mode FTP case for data channel establishement for server back to client...is there any professional advise can help on this case...? here is our setup info FYI

Thanks for your confirmation on no prob found in config level 1st..:P..as to save us a lot of time in isolating problem at this level.
What we can notice is seems the data port connection is fail to open  for server back to client....for our general sense..... the flow expected should be:
    TCP session A -- Client:1234 --> VIP:21 --> member svr:6370
    TCP session B -- Client: 5678 <--> VIP:20 <--> member Svr: 6379 [on demand generated between server/client]
but we can only see session B fail  to setup when client side access VIP site on CSS..even we try to put the most standard case as below
    TCP session A -- Client:1234 --> VIP:21 --> member svr:21
    TCP session B -- Client: 5678 <--> VIP:20 <--> member Svr: 20
we still unable to make the Active mode FTP access work either...hence we got no idea on how CSS handle FTP access when it involve services over multiple tcp ports..
and from CSS xlate view...the problem is we can only see what NAT IP that used in CSS connect to client...but no way to confirm for which port for VIP using outgoing to client. neither it is dropped by CSS..nor it is never setup from VIP to Client side.

  • Can I use the IR port to receive other data

HI I wonder if it is possible to use the IR port on my 2.4Ghz Core Duo Imac to import data from the IR transmitter on my Aviva Accu Chek blood glucose Monitor? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I have very few tech. details about the Accuchek, some ideas of how to access the IR port would be great as a starting point
Thanks for the help Peter T

I doubt it can or there would be other hardware which may use it.
I think the problem you will have is if it can transmit the data and has been sent to your mac how would you open the data?
You need an app to access it.
But it maybe worth seeing if the diabetic app you get on the mac can understand the data it sends.

  • Can i use one thunderbolt port as a video input?

so i just bought a Late 2013 21,5" iMac, and i know that thunderbolt techonlogy accept output and input, so, can i use it to connect another device and use mi imac as a reciever? if not, WHY? APPLE, PLEASE put this feature on an update now!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can. It is called Target Display mode, but on a Thunderbolt iMac like your Mac, it only works with other Thunderbolt Macs (Late 2009 and Mid 2010 27-inch iMacs could be used as an external display for some PCs and even for a Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3). • How can we use the SDXC PORT ?

    Hi,
Im intending to buy a Macbook pro 15" and i wonder how can i use the SDXC to boot my future macbook.
I heard there is out there some cards to make it boot faster. I am not talking here about sd camera cards.
And do you think i made the right choice by choosing the 15" 2.2 ghz i7 ?
    Thank you

There's only one way to make your "mac faster and use it every day"—replace the internal disk drive with an SSD, or replace the internal SSD with a bigger and faster SSD.
Disk I/O has alwas been the main bottleneck of all computers. So you either make it occur faster or you reduce de times it needs to occur.
In the "faster" section, the issues I have with SSDs are several:
Their price still needs to go down way more. The cost per MB of SSD-based storage is still vastly greater than that of HDDs. Yes, if you compute in extreme environments like karting down Baja or skydiving off the Himalayas, a ruggedized SSD is great, but most of us mortals live in the safe confines of a homey office.
The size of SSDs has to expand much more. Yes, they are inching up to the 500GB size, but HDDs are at 1TB and promise to break that barrier before the year is out.
If you purchase your SSD preinstalled in your Mac, you will be paying a big premium, compared to marketplace SSDs, even those from the same maker but not Apple-branded. This also applies to RAM.
If you put in a non-Apple-branded SSD, Lion will not enable TRIM support by default and you will have to go "under the hood" to enable it. Without TRIM, you will not get the full performance and durability benefit of an SSD.
Might be me, but I prefer to stick with HDDs for now, just making sure they are of 7200RPM spindle speed.
In the "reduce" section, must point out that Lion is a 64-bit beast. Meaning that all data structures are twice the size of previous 32-bit cats. Regardless of "minimum" specs, 4GB RAM is the new practical minimum and 8GB makes the fat cat much happier. But buying RAM from Apple is not a financially wise decision; an 8GB upgrade from reputable vendors can be had for around $40, in stark comparison to the $200 premium charged by the Apple store. For the same $200 or a bit less, you can get a 16GB upgrade instead, not officially sanctioned but that works just fine with the latest model Macs. In this case, I don't think the OP will need as much, but it is something to take under consideration. The extra RAM will drastically reduce the disk-based paging that the memory management carries out, thereby minimizing that bottleneck.

  • I can not use the Ethernet Port to connect another device.  My Airport Express allowed me to do this.

I want to use the Ethernet Port for my Apply TV for another device (Direct TV box), but it doesn't work.  I have Airport Express with an Ethernet port and I was able to plug my Direct TV box to download.

It's not designed to extend a network, and plugging in ethernet disables wi-fi in any case.

I want to up load my website but I do not know what FTP server to use. I find a FTP server but not know what's the URL.

You need a webhosting package. With or without a domainname.
So you have to find one first.
To find webhosting type the word in the search field of your browser.
If you have internet access you can check with your ISP too.
And with a domainname it's very easy to determine the URL : http://www.yourdomainname.com
