Copy in black only

want to print in black only, no color, there is no place in printing window to change this.

Thank you Michael for your reply, but my printer used to have this preference to grayscale, but since I downloaded Leopard and Lion to my Mac, things have changed, and unfortunately i am not very tech oriented, and I just follow directions, am afraid to go into unknown territory. Thanks if you could explain. I have an HP printer officejet 4550 for my mac. thanks again for your response. Sara

  • Converting all Black to 100% black only

Is there a way when rasterizing a document in photoshop that you can choose all blacks and make them 100% black only, not process black?

A.L. your not crazy, don't give up. The problem normally doesn't happen if you in swop, but always happens when you go into a gcr4 color space like used at some newspapers. Also, if the image has been saved as an eps, and the default button is clicked "Postscript color management" it will cause "Under-printing". The problem with going with a maximum black is that while this works great sometimes, especially if your just targeting black plus one other color. For instance, we use separation type GCR/maximum black generation when dealing with two color ads that Under-print (4-c black), to fix them not to under-print. It does not work well with photos. The Black gets very heavy and fills in. There are a few ways however to fix the under printing problem once it happens.
The first works when you have a white background.
    1) select black image at the composite level, and copy.
    2) then flick through the channels and hit dealt.
    3) when you get to the black channel hit paste.
If there is color in the background, you can do this. Setting up and action key makes small work of this.
    1) select the area that needs to be fixed.
then go to select color and choose black at the bottom of the list
    2) change the amount to 100 percent and say okay.
    3) do this a total of 4 times. this will make the amount of black on your page 100 percent.
    4) then on the 5th time instead of adding 100 percent black, remove 100 percent of the CMY. This removes all the color at once.
the last and a very effective way to remove under-printing. (but again do not have photos selected when doing this) is to
    1) select the area to be fixed
    2) go to select color click on the text or what ever black you are fixing, and slide fuzz to get most all of it.
    3) then go to selection modify and choose expand by 1 pixel
    4) Copy at the composite level.
    5) then flick through the channels and hit delete.
    6) when you get to the black channel hit paste.
I have found this last way a very good way to get small under-printing black fixed so printers can register their image.
Also if someone is dealing with large amounts of pdfs that have photos to be fixed and nothing else. then use a program like "Iqeue" that won't cause the vector images/type to under-print, since it only targets the rasterised images.

  • Ink Cartridges Empty -Print Black Only message

Need some advice:  I continue to get the following message:  "To print in color, install the following cartridge- Cyan...To print in Black only...press OK
The steps taken so far...replaced with new cartridge (twice), ran all of the commands in the toolbox (this results in printing sample pages that show all of the colors, etc.), cleaned the printing heads, and turned off the printer multiple times.  I even copied a colored page and it works fine, all of the colors show.  It just when I print from the PC that this message continues to come up.  Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. HP Solutions Sw shows all ink cartridges as "Ready" but when printing anything, I get the low Magenta ink "Black Only" message box. All Cartidges are 100% HP ink. The printing sw is getting bad ink status from somewhere.

How do i set up hp eprint to pint in black only

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
On an Android device, in the ePrint app, you select the document or photo you want to print.  In the Preview screen, open Settings (the document icon with a gear in the top right corner of the screen).  There among other things, you can set Color Mode to Black Only, Grayscale, or Color.
    Hope this helps.

  • Hp color laserjet 2600n, very dim grayish film when printing black only

For some reason, my hp color laserjet 2600n has started printing with a very dim grayish film over each page. I've had this printer for about a year, and it didn't do this at first. Does it no matter what program I print from. I'm sure it's a setting issue, but haven't been able to figure it out. Any ideas?
And, when I select to print in black only, it still prints the color on web pages. Is there a way to print from only the black cartridge? These are the options in the printer dialogue box under color: print in grayscale, black only, 4-color. Under these settings are other options, edge control, half-tone and RGB color. I've tried each setting individually and still the gray film. The only other possibility I can see is under Print Options, it has draft quality or image quality. I've tried both and still the film.
    Have any ideas.

    1. take out all of the ink cartriges and look at the big black roller on the door for streaking, if streaking, clean with a lint free cloth dampened with windex (window cleaner) then close the door.
    2. let it run to initializing.
    3. open the door and look and the black roller on the door to see if you have streaking. If no streaking put one cartridge in and close the door and repeat the steps until you find what cartridge is causing the problem.
I did this and found that my cyan was creating the lines on my paper. I cleaned the cyan roller with a Qtip and some rubbing alcohol and it works fine now, no more lines on the paper.
    Cheers

  • OfficeJet Pro 8620 Can't print black only on other media types

Why won't the OfficeJet Pro 8625 driver allow me to print using black only on non-plain media types?
I purchased an OfficeJet Pro 8625 for general home printing and to print shipping labels for my business.  I purchased a second tray so I can keep both plain paper and shipping labels in the printer all the time.
To select the labels, I had to pick a media type for the labels tray.  I can't choose labels, so I chose Cardstock.  But when I select Cardstock as the type in the driver when printing, it will not allow me to select black ink only.  I want to print black only because the shipping labels come out a little bit fuzzy, with color fringes when printed in color.
I'm not worried about ink usage.  I'm an Instant Ink subscriber.  I need the labels to be crisp, and printed full color they aren't crisp.
What's the deal here?  Why can't I select black only?

Hello @clough42 and welcome to the HP Forums!
I'm sorry to hear that you've had issues printing in black ink only on anything other than plain paper, but I will certainly see what I can do to help out
I'd recommend that you download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If it fails on anything please return and let me know what happened and where it failed and we will go from there.
If it passes everything and it appears there are no issues found, I'd recommend that you call our technical team for further options

  • My f4180 prints in color eventhough I have it set to print in black only.

I have been using my F4180 for a couple of years now. I have always used HP cartridges. For some reason, it will now only print in color. I installed a new black cartridge and the printer recognizes and that there is ink in the cartridge. When I remove the color cartridge it prints in black just fine, but as soon as I reinstall the color cartridge it prints only in color. I have never changed the printer preferences to anything but black only. I have run the diagnostic and it says everything is just fine, as long as I leave the color cartridge in. Any ideas on what to do?
Another issue is that in Print Preview all I see is a blank page. It prints fine but shows absolutely nothing in print preview. That is new as well. Any ideas on that?
    Thank you.

  • Black only error message when all inks are full

My printer ran out of a color some time ago and popped up the black only message box. I have since replaced all of the colored inks and it still gives me the black only message when I go to print and says I need to replace magenta. I just replaced it! My printer is the photosmart C6280. Thank you

    Hello Sudharshan,
"Status can only be set when all originals are stored" Also I see that the model is not having Status in CAD VIEW.
This is error is indicating that your original CAD model is not checked in and as per your configuration you require the original to be checked in before moving to next status.
    Please:
    1. Check your document status network.
    2. ensure that you have proper set up for the fields "check in" in the current status. This indicator should be set. This ensures that the document is automatically checked in before moving to the next status. This will solve your problem.
When I double click on that object in CAD VIEW, it takes me to DIR creation screen with Document Type DES. Can someone help me in this ?
Because of the above set up missing the original DIR is missing the original document and hence the system assumes you are creating a new DIR when you click on the object in CAD view.
    regards,
    N K

  • How to set default printing in black only

    Greetings,
I'd like to set my default printing with Firefox at black ink only, which I can do individually prior to printing a page, but it reverts to color after that printing. But if I set the size at, say, 80%, that becomes the default setting, or if I set portrait/landscape for a single printing, that becomes the default setting. Why can't the desired black-ink only setting default like the size/portrait/landscape setting? What I want to do is set the printing permanently at black only, and the size at 100%, but allow one-time printing at landscape or portrait, or sizes less than 100% without those settings becoming the default. How can I do this? Thanks for any help
    Best wishes, Tom
I've tried the help solutions on the website to no avail....

    Greeting ideato,
Thanks so much for your reply. I've clicked on the Firefox button at upper left, then Print, then Properties, then Advanced, under which is listed Printer Features (I have only 1 printer), below which is a line with Print in Grayscale, clicking on which has has 3 options: Off (apparently default), High quality Grayscale, and Black Ink Only. I click on the latter, and click on OK for this window and others in the sequence, and it'll print in black only for the present printing, but will revert to color for the next printing, 'though like I said, if I change the size to 80% or from portrait to landscape, those settings will remain. I can't figure it out. Again, thanks for any help.
    Regards, Tom

  • Print in Black only

I have a full cartridge of black ink. I am out of one of the colors. Can I print in black only or do I need to replace the color cartridge in order for my printer to work?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @dragoness911
I saw your post about the question you had about if your Officejet 6600 will print with one of the cartridges depleted.
I wanted to share this document with you, and let you know that no, the printer cannot print with one cartridge depleted.
