Copy Inventory Master Data to another Item Number

For the new database setup, I would like to copy from one Item Master Data (all tab details) to another Item Number to save time. Then just edit few fields only. How can I do it?

If there is provision of changing the item codes then you can try the import from Excel option also. As changing the item codes in an excel list will be much easier than opening each master data and changing the codes.
Try this-
1. Go to the test database where you create the test items.
2. Open the item master data in the find mode and open the search list.
3. With the f=Form Settings just make those columns visible which you want to import.
for ex in a DB i have some items, I wnt to import the to other, only the item code, item descrption and the manufactures. then i open the search list and only make these columns visible.
4. Now export this list to excel
5. Now change the iem codes of the desired in the excel format.
5. Save it as a txt file and import through the "Import From Excel Option"
Administration> Data Import/Export> Data Import> Import from Excel

Inventory Master Data

In the inventory master data the field Item cost is been displayed where we have given the Item price at unit price where we mention then my question is why it is been displaying the item cost in the Inventory where both the prices are different i.e unit price and the item cost

Dinessh is right in saying what the Item Price / Unit Price is for. The Unit Price is part of a Pricelist with which it is associated.
This is mainly used in the marketing documents and can also be associated to a BP. Example: Purchase Price, List Price, etc. Once you associate a Pricelist to a BP then the price from this pricelist is used when creating marketing document for this BP.
Item Cost that you see in the Inventory tab of the Item Master is calculated by the System when you do Stock Taking or Goods Receipt
It can also be set manually when you have no inventory for that Item.

Client Copy: copy only master data

Hi!
Is it possible to copy only master data from e.g. client 100 to client 200?
If yes, which technical steps are necessary (tcode, etc.)?
Client 100 is the copy of client 200 without master data.

You can Copy all the customizing data from one client to another client using clent copy(SCC1). Ie, data stored in a customizing request.

Custom master data for Sales Document Number

Is it possible to create master data for "sales document number" as a custom field and/or table in R/3? We have a need to record the "end user" customer of an order but this data may be updated a long time after the order and sale is complete. IT seems that loading to BW/BI may be simpler if this is treated as document attributes rather than transactional data since no delta will be trigger by changes to this field. Does anyone have experience with this approach?

it is possible to create attributes for this InfoObject. Add the Attributes you need in BW. You can use the attributes even if the sales doc is line item dimension of your cube.
On Sourcesystem side you have to create a generic extractor in SBIW. I think a table view on VBAK or VBAP may fullfill your needs. Of course the tables are not the smallest ones but maybe u can use the timestamp to implement a generic delta. Check whether the timestamp is set when the 'end user' is set. Not every change in the sales document leads to an entry in the delta queue of logistic, but the timestamp should be set.
After that replicate the datasource to BI and connect it to the attributes of 0SALES_DOC
I had a similar enhancement at one customer reading the actual transport routes to the sales documents and it worked fine.

Dear All,
Is it possible to copy only master data using TDMS Client Cpoy.
In TDMS there is a pack called ERP Initial Pack for Master data & Customizing, but is there any chance to copy only Master Data by skipping Customizing.

Client copy of master data alone maynot possible. I mean even if you use SAP_APPL even then transactional data will also get migrated. So I would suggest of sending the data through ALE (idocs).
We do it on large scale regularily.
But still please wait for opinion from others. May be they might have a better solution.

My client is having 3 different branches in Kolkatta, Ranchi and Bhubaneswar and the requirement is client wants to maintain privacy from one branch to other branch. Here what i mean to say is one branch end-user should't see the other branch BP, Inventory master data's and Chart of accounts vice-versa.

Item Cost in inventory master data

Hi all,
          Ive created an Item say XYZ in Inventory masterdata ( Created on 01/01/2008). There was no Item Cost when I created this. And Ive posted many Production Order documents with this Item XYZ. Now when I raise Production Order On this Item, Disassembly Order- Planned & Released.
           Ill go to Issue for Prodiction Screen and select the Disassembly oder and Issue this Order. When I go back to this Issue for production screen what Ive Issued, This is showing Item Cost which I didnot fed in Production order screen/ Issue for Production screen.
           Ive checked in Item Masterdata of XYZ Item. There also Item Cost is shown, which I didnt fed in to the system. And this Item Cost is changing. When I raise Production Orders and Issuing them, I saw this Item Cost Increasing.
          I dont want this Item Cost effect in Issue for production. And plzz let me know what is the reason for changing this Item cost in Master data.

Hi Sree,
you could bring the stock level & therefore the stock value down to zero, then change the valuation method to 'Standard' & assign a standard item cost of 0.00. That implies however that you must allow stock release without item cost. Please note that you need to remove this item from any BOMs as well before you can change this data.
As with all standard cost items, if you buy this item for anything different from 0.00, the difference will be posted to the price differences account defined for this item. Your accountant might need to make adjustments to account for that.

BEX Issue:Intgration of master data and Open Items cube data

Hello Gurus,
I need some help in BEX queries.
I have master data Contract Objects which has master information like Max Number of payment and monthly installments.
In the open items cube I had open items balance for multiple line items. So I need a report which show Portfolio under which we can have multiple contract object. So Portfolio P1 -> contract objects C1, C2, C3 The report is as follows
Portfolios Total Amount               Open Items
P1           Sum of total                Sum of open
             amount each                 items in cube
             contract object
             under P1 C1 + C2 + C3
1) Total Amount = Max Number of payment * Monthly installmens(Sum for each contract object in Portfolio)
2) Open Items = Sum of all balances under open items cube.
Now problem is if I join the two using multiprovide the Total amount gets SUMMED multiple times for each line items in open item for contract. I just wanted it summed for once for each contract object .
How do I ensure that TOTAL AMOUNT IS calculated just once for each contract object ? Is there means to solve the problem.

FM to copy material master data

Hi there
I am looking for an FM where i can copy existing material master data to a new one. In my case the material is a material variant and therefore i also want to copy the characteritic values of this variant. While copying i want to change some of the characeristic values of my oroginal material master, so that the only difference to the new material variant are characteritic values. All other date (sales, plant and so on) can be the same

first copy the FM
goto se37>Press cntrl+f5>enter the from and to FM and FG and press ok.

Loading data from one master data to another

I have scenario where i have to load a master data (ZMATERIAL) which is exactly a copy of another Master Data (0material) ..Is it possible to load the data from 0MATERIAL to ZMATERIAL (Both are in BW side ) ...if yes please tell me the procedures.

be carefull what you ask for
The created data source of 0MATERIAL will not be harmfull to your system It is just a data structure which you use to create an update rule between 0MATERIAL and ZMATERIAL.But are you sure that is what you want ? In this case you always have to load data to 0MATERIAL first and to ZMATERIAL after that.
Perhaps it would be easier to use infosource 0MATERIAL_ATTR for ZMATERIAL too. 0MATERIAL_TEXT on the other hand is a pure Text Infosource and you have to decide to use it on 0MATERIAL or ZMATERIAL. You could create a new Datasource in the source system to provide you wih the Material Master data text.

Is it possible to report/query on Items on Master Data that has not inoviced or has not been shipped?
Running query on Sales overview cube will not bring the right data since that cube only captures the items that was invoiced. Please help!

if u are using BI-7 for scenarios like this they have designed info set to include 2 cubes,
as info set brings intersection data u can opt for infoset, build info set on cube and ur master data then u will get the result this will be better as per performance issue.
if u are using BW then if data flow is from ODS -> CUBE then u can build infoset on ODS and master data it will be good.
if u want replacement path then u have to use RRI that is report to report interface. build char variable on ur info object in cube query so that it will brings orders which are shipped.
then build another char variable in master data query and processing type as replacement path to char var built on first query. and exclude those values which first var brings.

go to se11, give sflight (Your standard table name) in tables text,
No go to dictionary objects --> copy --> give new Ztable in to table text.
Like this you can copy the standard sap table to a new ztable..

Copy Material Master data - cannot copy "Proportion/Prod.Unit" view

When I try to create material master data using the "Copy from..." option, data from the "Proportion/Prod.Unit" view is not copied to the new material. We are using SAP for Mill products.

Hello Joao,
There are two things, which have to be done :
The first thing of course is, that for the field MARA-KZWSM the field
"Propose Field Content from the Reference" must be set in transaction
OMSR.
The second is, that the user have to enter this screen, because if he
don't display this screen, then it is technically not possible to
copy the reference values.
(To copy this data from the reference material you have to go to the
subscreen SAPLMWSM 8030 and press enter).
