Copy of an InfoCube with Data

Hi,
I want to make a copy of an infocube with the data.
I tried creating the cube by copying it from the original one. The new cube got created but without data.
Can anyone please help.

Hi,
Actually you can try these options:
1. since you have created a similar cube with hope fully similar info source,
    then you can go to the info package and this time select your new cube
   as target and reload the data..
2. Other wise, generate export data source from the original cube, make a copy
    cube from the original durig the update rule creation for second cube select
    the souce as info cube and put the name of the cube..
3. Then go to the data mart info source area for copy cube create a package
    and then run the init/full load..

A: Oracle 10g datapump’s Network_link option allows us to copy data between schemas without even creating an export dump file.
I have tried this option and it reduced my copy procedure timings from 2 hours ( with regular exp/imp) to 15 mins.
all you need to do is
1. create a DB link pointing to target schema.
2. run the impdb command
example:
impdp uname/pwd@dbname directory=<dir name> logfile=<logfile name> network_link=<dblink name> remap_schema=source_user:target_user parallel=2

Delete infoobject from an infocube with data

Hi,
I have just added an infoobject to an infocube which has data. Now, I need to delete that infoobject and I think that if the infocube has data I couldnt delete the infoobject.
How can I delete the infoobject without removing the data?

Hi David,
deleting an infoObject from an database table is everytime difficult. The correct solution depends on different requirements:
How many datasets are in the infocube - how large is the cube.
Can you reload the data from a source or an DSO
Does your release support remodeling.
The best solution would be - delete the data, transport your change of datamodel to prod system and reload the data. The second solution could be: create an copy of the actual infocube, load the the data from the original cube to copy, delete the data from original cube, transport your changes to prod system, load the data from copy to "new"original cube, delete the copy.
You can also try to use the remodeling function. But there is no guarantee that this will work correct. We made some good and some bad experiences with this tool.

PS:Copy of MBBS report with Date(GR) selection option in selection screen.

We are developing a report, which is Copy of MBBS report, addition as Date(GR) selection option in selection screen to view historical data {i.e.Project Stock(Q) on back dates}.
MBBS is showing Project Stock w.r.t. WBS. So pls suggest Table, which can fulfill the requirement to show the Project Stock from GR w.r.t. Purchase and Production order in back date w.r.t. that WBS.

Hi Amit ,
The Project Stock Table is MSPR , and the Project stock history table is MSPRH .
Though not through with your actual requirement , There is a standard Report MB5B -- Stock on Posting Date . In the selection screen , we can have the Special Stock Q (Project Stock ) .
If you can develop copying this report instead of MBBS , it would take care of receipts as well as issues ,and from the material Document you can build a relation to the account assignment WBS/Network Activity through MSEG Table .

How to Copy complete structure of a table with data from one database table to another databse table

I need a sql query to copy structure of table with data from production table of ONLINEBTREKDB database to production table of Archive database.
I tried this query
select * into Archive.dbo.Production from ONLINEBTREKDB.dbo.Production p
but problem is I am able to copy the table schema and data but not able to copy constraints(PK)

You've multiple options
1. Use generate scripts wizard available in SQL management studio. This is particularly helpful when you want to script out lot of objects. You can also choose to script data as well inside this. This can be launched by right clicking the db, choosing tasks
-> generate scripts and then selecting required options inside the wizard
2. Use object explorer and right click and script out table. You can also use search functionality to find object you want inside object explorer

I have a hard disk drive with data that i want to back up onto another hard disk drive. I tried just copy and it won't let me paste it in the new drive. I have also tried to drag the files across and they won't go across. Does anyone know how to do this?

I have also tried to click and drag but it wont let me either. I have reformatted the external hard drive to accept both mac and pc files and this did not make any difference. Can anyone help me with this?

How did you reformat the drive? If you formatted it as NTFS, your Mac will not be able to write files to it unless you use a small application such as Paragon's.
Please reply as to how you formatted the drive.

How to fill a new single field in a Infocube with historical data

Hello Everybody,
We have an SD infocube with historical data since 1997.
Some of the infoobjects (fields) of the infocube were empty during all this time.
Now we require to fill a single field of the infocube with historical data from R/3.
We were thinking that an option could be to upload data from the PSA in order to fill only the required field (infoobject).
Is it possible? is there any problem doing an upload from the PSA requests directly to the infocube.
Some people of our team are thinking that the data may be duplicated... are they right?
Which other solutions can we adopt to solve this issue?
We will appreciate all your valuable help.

I would suggest you to use some other BAPI that would attach your text to BP than SAVE_TEXT.
If you still wanted to use SAVE_TEXT then first make sure how the TDNAME is generated. It depends on the text determination procedure. For examples, it can be guid of BP, GUID followed by date or time or else the BP number itself.
Just go to BP transaction, double click on the text pad, it will open you the SAP Script editor. Click on menu GOTO and select Header which will give you info about your TDID, TDOBJECT, TDNAME....

What is the best wayt to copy tables with data from development to Prod?

We have Oracle tables with data in a development server, I would like to know if there is any ‘easy’ and ‘direct’ way to copy them to the production server.

There are a number of methods you could use.
<ul><li>
Export and import would work or their 10g+ equivalents data pump. </li>
<li>You could create a database link between the 2 databases and use SQL*Plus copy to transfer data on a table by table basis (probably quite laborious unless there's only a few tables). </li>
<li>You could use transportable tablespaces (there are some restirctions - check the documentation http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10595/tspaces013.htm#sthref1632) </li>
<li>You could use RMAN to clone the development database (assuming the prod database hasn't been used yet and that there's nothing in it you need to keep).</li>
<li>You could create the prod database as a standby copy of the dev database </li>
</ul>
Using transportable tablespaces would be much faster than using data pump or import/export depending on how much data there is.

After Create InfoCube, a screen will appear for you to key in information/name of the InfoCube. There's a box "Copy From", insert the original InfoCube name you intend to copy from.
After successfully activation of the new Infocube. Return to your old InfoCube, right click on its transformation, click on Copy. A new screen will appear, here you will key in the new Infocube name in the Target of the Transformation field.

Issue with Data Load to InfoCube with Nav Attrivutes Turned on in it

Hi,
I am having a issue with loading data to a InfoCube. When i turn
on the navgational attributes in the cube the data load is failing
and it just says "PROCESSED WITH ERRORS". when i turn them off
the data load is going fine. I have done a RSRV test both on
the infoobject as well as the cube and it shows no errors. What
could be the issue and how do I solve it.

Hi,
To activate a navigation attribute in the cube the data need not be dropped from the cube.
You can always activate the navigation attribute in the cube with data in the cube.
I think you have tried to activate it in the master data as well and then in the cube or something like that??
follow the correct the procedure and try again.

Infocube and ODS populated with DATA (need to add one more field?)

If infocube and ODS have been populated with data for past 3 months. Then we need to add one more field to this cube. What is the impact? Please advise.
The following is my understanding. Please correct me if I am wrong.
1) Need to delete content of ODS and infocube.
2) insert the new field at ODS and infocube.
3) reload the data into ODS and infocube.
Is there a way that the current data need not be deleted.
Just add in this new field and only subsequent month, infocube will have this new field? Please advise what is the best approach without affecting existing data.

Hi,
Siggi is right. You dont need to delete the previously loaded data to CUBE or ODS. The only catch is that, your new field will be empty as far as history is concerned. But so long as you did map it to the datasource and the datasource is able to fill it up, then your new field will now have value for incoming DELTA Updates.
Addition of a field is not that complicated compared to deletion of a field from CUBE or ODS.
