Copy/paste address in Contacts

Hi all,
Might be a very stupid question ... I am building my contact list in the app "Contacts" (so far, so good). Evidently, for some members of my family, 2-3-4 or more people can share the same (physical) address (street, city, etc).
Though this seems like a simple thing to do, I would like to enter all this address info just once, for one person, and then apply it to 3 or 4 other members of the family. I've found a way to copy and paste the address, but the formating just disappears, and all the info (street, city, zip, ...) is pasted in just one field (eg. street) ... which doesn't really help then!
I am sure I am missing something but ... what is it?

I see that you might be having an issue with your computer. As a basic troubleshooting step, please try restarting your computer and seeing if the issue persists:

Multiple Email Address per contact

I have more than one email address for many of my contacts. I do I compose an email to all of the contact's emails?

Each email address for the contact must be entered separately in the To: field. When typing in the first couple of letters of the contact's name, the autofill feature should pull up each email address for a contact with multiple email addresses.
If a contact with several email addresses is included in a Group mailing list and you want to include all email addresses for a particular contact when addressing a message to the Group, the contact must be listed or duplicated in the Group multiple times - one for each email address. This can be done by copy/paste of the contact within the Group.
Edit the Group Mailing list selecting a different email address for each multiple contact in the Group.

Addressbook imports only one email address per contact

I am importing a few of my contacts from Outlook to Addressbook.
In my Outlook, these contacts have multiple email addresses (email1, email2, etc)
The exported vCard file also contains all those email addresses.
But when I import them to Addressbook, it seems to accept only the first email address and rest don't appear anywhere.
How do I fix this issue? Is there any setting somewhere that prevents multiple email addresses from being imported into a contact?

Frustration with Address Book - Not Allowing Copy/Paste of Contact Card

Has anyone found a work-around for copy/paste of an entire contact card in Address Book? Address Book used to allow you highlight and copy all of the content of a contact v-card. Since Snow Leopard released (including the 10.6.2 update), it only allows you to highlight and copy one line at a time. That is a dramatic reduction in productivity -- a lot like the dysfunctional nature of Outlook's contact manager. Any work-arounds that don't involve export/import to other programs?

I believe I responded in the previous posting that the work-around did not resolve the problem. The effort that it takes to implement your suggestion takes more time than it would be to cut/paste individual lines or just retype the data. Again, the purpose is to make/have efficient work flow, not complicated tasks which had simple solutions at one point in time. And since a majority of the people reading support threads are less familiar than you might be with prospective automation and programming tasks with the OSX, maybe I should have simply stated that the function is "broke" and should be "fixed".

Here are two quick ways to copy a contact's email address so that you can paste it into an email or a field in another application.
Open the Contacts application, select the contact, and then click Edit. This will allow you to copy any information you need from your address book.

Select "Copy Address" from the drop down menu beside the sender's name in an email you have received or sent.
See the dropdown arrow beside the name John Appleseed in the image below. Click on the drop down arrow in one of your email messages to see the "Copy Address" option.

There is no mention normally of this in the user guides but normally it is the case that when writing your text, select Options & Insert Contact. Find the name of the person you want to insert then press Options. Select View details and you will be shown all the details for the contact i.e. contact name, phone no.(s), email address etc etc. Scroll up/down to highlight the specific detail you want then press Select and it will be added to your text.
Please note instructions given were for 6230i but would expect same or similar for all models

Can't Select or Copy Text or Data from Address Book Contact Card w/out Edit

Is it something I am doing wrong or did someone at Apple have the weird idea to make it impossible to select/copy text in a contact card in Address Book?
Can you drag/select/copy a URL in a contact card in Address Book, e.g. if you had to paste it into another program or even a different contact card? Thanks.

that would be the latter although i suspect it's a bug. it is now also impossible to select all in an address card to quickly copy and paste into a text document. you have to do it one field at a time and it doesn't seem to work with URL at all.

Ipad 1st gen. Safari cannot open page because address is invalid. I get this trying to download apps from itunes, infact it will do this under any variable. 4.3 os ive tried copy paste in url but it doesn't matter what i try, safari doesnt allow anyway?

Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to
The iPad is first generation
OS 5.1.1 Software up to date.

The edit button disappears when I have the link window open, so how do I copy and paste address for email link?

When I want to create a link to a web page in an email, I click the "link" icon and a window appears asking for the address. But simultaneously, the "edit" function and all other functions disappear from the Firefox toolbar. With no edit, how can I copy and paste the address? I have tried highlighting the address and dragging it into the window, but it won't drop into the window.
I have resorted to copying the address to a document and then pasting it into the link window, but there must be a less cumbersome way.

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden.<br />
You can make the Menu bar visible via View > Toolbars, also accessible via Firefox > Options.<br />
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.<br />

Copy & Paste an Address in Mac Mail

How do you copy & paste an address in a mail draft?
I've tried everything including cntrl C but nothing. Coming from Windows, Mac mail has a lot to be desired!

No, that's the way I've tried it & no luck. Again, the copy & paste works normally in all other apps BUT mail. It will not let me copy & paste an address from a previous incoming mail & then paste that address in a mail draft to send out.
This is important in my biz - I was hoping Apple could respond & fix this - no one else here has this problem with copying mail address & pasting it in a mail draft?

only way is to restore the phone as new. OR wait until IOS 7 comes out in the fall.

Copying Account Address Information to a Contact

Is there a way that the associated Account Address information can be copied to the Contact Address area on a Contact by Contact basis without doing it for all Contacts?
Is there a button or anything that can be pressed on a Contact screen?

Contact Address have two address fields. Account Address field is coming from Account and Contact's Address (which can be different).
I don't think it is possible to populate Account's Address into Contact's Address automatically.

IPad Contacts - copy paste

I use the Notes section a lot in the Contacts application (iPad).
The copy paste function is still not working. When I type a note in the iPad Contacts application and select some text, select Copy, then Paste; I get a previous paste (-1) result, not the most recent copy result I am expecting.
Try "Normal" and "Modify" modes of editing "Notes" in the Contacts application.
There are a lot of little things like this that just make the basic apps broken. Quality control needs to be #1.

How to copy address book contacts to Numbers 3

I updated to OSX 10.9 and Numbers 3. I can't drag or copy address book contacts to spreadsheets anymore. Apparently this feature has been removed. Any work arounds out there? Any ideas how to do this? I am utterly dependant on adding Address book contacts to Numbers spreadsheets.

We feel your pain. Nothing keeps you from continuing to use version 2.3. Just carry on as though nothing ever happened. It's not as though you'll be missing much by not running the latest version.
