Copy Paste Attributes

First off - I will admit I am a FCP editor who is figuring out Motion in fits and starts. Basically what I am building is a bullet point graphic of 5 list items where it starts with all 5 visible, fully opaque, and after a couple seconds, 4 lines dim to 10 percent opacity and the 5th line grows larger and moves to the center. I built the first version of this, keyframing all the opacity and move/grows. I then save the project and rename it "2nd line move." What I want to do is be able to copy the attributes from the one line that grows and moves ("1st line move") to the new, renamed project. In FCP I use copy/paste attributes for situations like this. I can't seem to figure out how to do it in Motion, without pretty much creating new keyframes on each version of the same graphic.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Steve

hi,
a simple way is to click on the object you have animated, and then simply to click and hold on the position parameter name in the inspector and drag it to the object you want to copy the animation too.
You can do this for the scale parameter as well.

  • Copy/paste Attributes to multiple clips supported in CS3?

Adobe premiere pro 2 doesn't support this function. Is not possible to paste attributes (including frame Hold settings) onto multiple (highlighted) clips, the option becomes shaded if you try. It was supported in 5.0 and 6.0 but was dropped in recent versions. Anyone try it?

  • Copy/paste text attributes

I have inherited a piece with subtitles that were done with the wrong settings in the control tab. It is easy to copy/paste attributes on the motion tab, but how do I make these match without re-typing them all, or painstakingly change each setting on the control tab.
    Thanks

painstakingly change each setting on the control tab.
Painstakingly is your only option other than using something like this: http://www.xmedit.com/

  • Scaling multiple clips without pasting attributes ??

    Hi there,
I have a 20 minutes fcp project which consists of 7 tracks video which are layered on top of each other. The clips of each track have been scaled down so that I see seven mini screens next to each other. The seven mini screens (each of them represents one of my tracks) are of different size/scale. Now I would like to scale multiple (around 300) clips, so that they all end up beeing 30% bigger. The usual answer for this would be: use copy and paste attributes. This doesn't work in my case though, as all of my clips are of different scale and if I copy/paste attributes I end up with one and the same size for each clip which would be a desaster.
I would love to be able to just select all the clips I want to blow up and in the canvas' wire frame view drag the frame bigger. So that all clips get bigger simultaneously without losing their relation to each other. I know that it is possible to do this by sending the edit to Motion, the problem is that I worked with a lot of filters which all get lost on the way (Sending to Motion does not send filter information). I hope there is an easy work around and would be so grateful for every little suggestion.
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

Nest the sequence, then apply 'overall scale'. IIRC, you'll need to option-click on the nest to keep it from opening up in a different timeline...not at my system now, so can't check...but I think it's option-click...could be some other 'modifyier key'-click.
You would still be able to make adjustments to individual clips, by dbl-clicking the nested sequence and making adjustments when that opened in a different timeline.

  • Paste Attributes - Content

    Scenario:
Three video tracks of equal length stacked right over each other. Each track squeezed back a bit, so all tracks are visible at once. I can copy/paste attributes (contents) to two of the three tracks. When I try to copy/paste attributes (contents) to video layer 2, black appears where I expect video to appear. I can copy the clip using paste attributes (contents) to the other tracks, but for some reason, track two only will show black.
I know of a workaround for this issue, but what am I doing wrong?

gotcha ... sorry John, I wasn't paying enough attention, I see now that you specifically mentioned pasting content in the subject title.
well that is strange .... are you sure that the content you're pasting in has sufficient duration to fill the clip it is replacing? ahhh, i see you already checked for that.
a workaround template method would be to build your composition using nests instead of clips ... position the nests as you did the original clips, then rather than pasting content you could just drop the new clips into the placeholder nests

  • Trying to Paste Attributes - AUDIO ONLY. I copy the clip I want - then click Paste Attributes - previously a box appeared with options - now nothing appears.  Only happening with AUDIO attributes.  Anyone else experiencing this?

I am trying to Paste Attributes of AUDIO ONLY - from one clip to another audio clip.  These are the settings for the VOICE OVER on my 15 minute project.  This has worked before.  However now I copy the clip I want o use the attributes from - then I selct PASTE ATTRIBUTES. In the past a new dialogue box would appear and offer me the opportunity to select the attributes or effects I wanted to COPY and PASTE.  Hoever now - there is NOTHING.
I also want to REMOVE the ATTRIBUTES from 287 clips - but apparently I can only do this one at a time?  That seems like the most ridiculous thing in the world.  Certainly this can't be true?  Is there no way to remove ALL Attrributes from all of the clips at the same time?
    Anyone?  Anyone?

I cannot reproduce this. It is working as expected here: select a clip, copy, select another clip (or clips), paste attributes, and I get the usual window - this works for audio only clips as well as other clips.
I suggest you try deleting FCP X preferences with Preference Manager and try again.

Select the clips you want, and delete the effects in the Inspector by selecting and hitting the delete key.

  • Can You Copy and Paste Attributes in FCPX?

I'm just getting started with my FCPX training, (after years of edidting in FCP).  I frequntly use the "copy and paste attributes" feature in FCP, (say you make some adjustments to a clip, you can copy these attributes and paste them on to another clip).  VERY SLICK and USFULL.  Does anybody know how this is done in FCPX?  Thanks

Similar though you don't have the same level of control as you'll notice. Copy the clip you want to use as the source and then Paste Effects- both from the Edit menu. This will copy over everything so plan things out if you want to use this feature.

  • Firefox removes href attribute from anchor tag on copy paste

    Hi Support,
I have a text along with the image used as a hyperlink as follows.
    "Sample Text.<a href="javascript:myfunction()"><img title="sample image" src="sample.gif" /></a>"
When i copy the above text and paste it inside a HTML Control (for e.g. iframe), the control removes the href attribute of 'anchor' tag. It happens only with firefox and safari. It is working correctly in internet explorer.
    "Sample Text.<a ><img title="sample image" src="sample.gif" /></a>"
Is there any solution for this.? Awaiting for sooner response
Try clicking on the below link
    http://screencast.com/t/sXq6BcZvJB

I tested this in Gmail compose, and what I see is: regular links (href="url") are preserved during copy/paste, but javascript links (href="javascript:") are dropped/cleared.
I don't know whether this is by design. One place to research that would be [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/].

  • Copying and pasting attributes and styles of text track

    Simple question,
I have two text tracks and would like to copy and pasts the attributes and style tabs in "inspector" to another text track. How could I do this without having to manually set each individual track as I create it.
    Thanks,

Did you check the opacity value in the paste attributes dialog?

  • Copy and Paste Attributes

Is it possible to cut and paste attributes between Soundtrack Pro projects?

If I understand your question correctly, then Yes, there is a very easy way to copy the attributes from one object (or text sample) to another:
In the Toolbar at the top of our Editing Window, there should be two icons: Copy Style and Paste Style. If you don't see them, then you need to go to the View Menu and select Customize Toolbar; here you can select and drag these (and any other tools you want to add) into your Toolbar.
Once you have these tools available, all you need to do is select any object, click the Copy tool to capture the style (attributes) and then when you select another object, click the Paste tool to apply them. This also works, as mentioned above, with text.
    Good luck.

  • Pasting Attributes with Title 3D? - A follow up inquiry

    Hello All,
The other day I asked whether it is possible to copy and paste attributes from a text 3D title to another. The answer/solution offered was to take a "master" format, and then change the specific names and titles in each clip.
I keep thinking about this solution, and it surprises me. In the same way that one can take an Excel spreadsheet and copy the format from one to another, I would think that it would be advantageous (as well as popular) to have such control with titles in FCP.
I'm not a programmer, so I don't know if this is asking the world. Is it just a feature that hasn't been developed, or is it a complicated function, or do folks simply determine up front what the titles will look like, and if they change their mind, go back and retype all of the information?
    Just curious.
    Thanks.
    DG

Title 3D does let you create and save "styles" that you can reuse whenever you choose to do so.

  • Is there a way to copy an attribute from one clip to another?

In one of my clips, I changed the color of someones shirt, and I want to copy that to every single clip so he has that same color shirt in every clip. Is there an easy way to do this, so I don't have to manually color his shirt in every clip by hand?

highlight the clip that you have adjusted. Right click and choose copy. Then highlight all the other clips you want to add the filter to. Right click and choose Paste attributes. A window will open asking which attributes to paste. Choose filters.
    Good Luck!

  • Pages Copy & Paste Style Buttons don't change font size and style?

Shouldn't the font size and style also be copied and pasted when I use the buttons to copy & paste the style within a page?

    Hello
It seems that the description of these buttons in the Help is not clear.
After several attempts, one may understand that they don't apply to attributes inserted "by hand" with cmd + B for instance but to "styles" defined in the Styles drawer.

  • Pasting attributes not working properly in FCPX 10.1

I have an ongoing project in which I use the paste attributes command frequently. I've noticed in 10.1 that the paste attributes doesn't work properly. In particular the trim and possition attributes. When I paste the attributes, the image is trimmed and the possition is moved, but not the same as the clip from which the attributes were copied.
    Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue, and no one seems to have a solution/know whats going on...

  • Paste Attributes TO  clips in the Browser?

With my underwater footage, often a Color Corrector filter worked out for one clip would be usefully applied to a group of clips shot under the same conditions.
I've been able to copy clips (from Timeline or Browser) with filters applied and then Edit>Paste-Attribute the filters to clips in the Timeline. But I don't get the Paste-Attribute menu box when I select a clip in the Browser that I'd like to paste the filter to. Both the User Manual and The (3.5) Book suggest that this is possible.
It would be a lot more convenient to apply a refined Color Corrector in the Browser and be able to check the result without rendering.
Hope that as usual I have missed some dumb detail. Please tell me how to do it right, somebody - Forum Search wasn't helpful.
    SS

It worked! (after I figured out to use the little drag hand icon and not the tab...) I know it would be better to get color properly with the camcorder in the first place, but U/W lighting is an art I am still working on.
    Thanks, Tom.
    Sharron S.
BTW if I apply a stored color corrector to a clip in the Viewer and then tweak it, that won't change the filter parameters on the filter saved in the browser or on any of the other clips that had that filter applied, will it? All the clips are master clips...
