Copy Paste cell/table from OpenOffice

Hi,
I have a problem pasting text from cells from OpenOffice Writer to Indesign cells because it's seems that unlike Microsoft Word, OpenOffice separate the different elements of a table by a carriage return and not by a tabulation.
Does anyone know the solution?

I am not using CS3, but testing NeoOffice with CS2 I see the same behavior as with Excel.
Tables come in as text with tabs between columns and paragraph returns between rows.
Using Dave Saunders PopTabFromClip script allows pasting of the data into predefined tables.
If you need to convert the text pasted in direct from NeoOffice to Tables, then the method is to go ahead and paste, then select the text and use the Table menu option Convert Text to Table.
I cannot comment on OpenOffice as I am not seeing the behavior reported by Edo75.

PS: I now see that Edo75 is using the Writer part (Word equivalent) of the office instead of the Spreadsheet (Excel equivalent). Could that be the issue?
Edit: Yep, same issue. Try pasting into a new Spreadsheet, then copy the data again before pasting into InDesign. That fixed the behavior for me.

How do I paste a table from Numbers or Excel into Ibook Author exactly as the original?

I am new to iMac and Ibook Author.
I am writing a statistical paper in Ibooks Author.
I have Chapter heading, now section heading and body. I want to paste a table from numbers or excel into my iBook as this has the results of my analysis.
As part of my analysis, I want to copy a 5 column table with 633 rows, which is essentially my table of data. I have the table in numbers and excel.
When I copy the table in numbers or excel, followed by pasting (CmD V) into iBooks, I get the first 20 rows in a table format and the remainder of the table is missing. The table appears to end at the end of the page.
I can not figure out how to paste the entire data as my table.
Its holding me back...
Any ideas?

I am not fully sure if I understand but I gather since there are so many rows only a certain amount fits on a single page.
How many rows does actually fit on a page in iBooks Author?
There is a method that would look pretty cool that is used to create a double page spread that would look great but instead of having a double page you could maybe have three or four pages.
Here is a quick idea that I stuck together, additionally when you are copying and pasting form Numbers to iBooks Author just select the cells that you want.
Copy and paste within iBooks Author and then go back and get the next row of the table that you want.
I hope I am clear in what I am describing.

Whether I use Paste or Paste Match Style (?) it just goes into one column, which is useless. Same result in Pages. But in the Appleshop demo I copied the table from Safari into Excel and it created a proper table.
Apologies if this is already answered. I am new to Mac and to iWorks. I've only got the evaluation version of iWorks v1.0. I was going to get the full version by Xmas - but this is a real showstopper. If I can't use the spreadsheet on web tables (price comparisons, stocks, etc etc) then iWorks won't do.
If it can't do this, are there any other solutions out there? Thanks.

Your line breaks will most likely be incorrect if you don't turn on the Japanese Composer.
It is almost absolutely impossible to accomplish your goal without having a font - any font - installed on your system that has that glyph. However, if it's showing up in Word, than means that you must have that glyph installed, right? What font are you trying to use in InDesign? You might already know that Word will auto-substitute fonts when it encounters a missing glyph, so we really don't know what font is being used to render that one glyph. The whole sentence might be in MS Mincho but one glyph might be pulled from another font if MS Mincho doesn't have that glyph.
That being said, you're going to break it if you don't know how to set Japanese type in ID. It's not something where you can just copy text out of email and paste into your English layout.

I can't speak about this occurring with FaceBook since I don't use FaceBook, but I see the same type of thing when I copy and pasted from websites. It doesn't always happen and I cannot find any particular set of circumstances under which it occurs or does not occur.
I am merely responding to let you know that it happens to me as well and I have seen no way to correct it. I'm not so sure that there is a way to correct in in that it may have something to do with how the original text is formatted in the PDF or on the website and how it eventually "fits" into the text field or the area in which it is pasted.

How do I copy a spreadsheet/table from one Pages document to paste to another?

I am in graduate school and am working on an assignment that requires that I use two different 'templates,' or tables, to analyze data. Instead of filling them in separately and saving as multiple documents, I have created an assignment document with my header. I want to copy the tables from the two 'template' documents and paste them both to my assignment document. I've tried highlighting the table in the template document, clicking copy, and then pasting in my assignment document. Nothing is pasted.
What am I doing wrong?

What version of Pages?
What OS, iOS or OSX?
Are you sure you have the Table selected and not a cell or just contents?

How to copy paste a table structure from word document into Text Field [field format Rich Text]

In our current implementation we have a Blank page with Text Field [field format Rich Text] on generated PDF Document.
Once the PDF document is generated, user can copy paste content form any word/rtf document to into the Text Field.
Pasted content retains all text formatting [Bold, Italic, Underline, Indentation] except the Table format. Text Field is removing table metadata from the content and converting it into plant text.
Is there anyway to copy paste table structure as it is from word document into Text Field?

I don't think you can! While you can paste formatted text into the rich text field, the table metadata means nothing to the textfield.

I tried with ITableModel, but its function CanPaste() returns me kFalse. And I tried with kTableCopyPasteCmdBoss/ITableCopyPasteCmdData, it crashed.

You are correct, but this behavior has always amazed me. ID *never* inserts the correct amount of copied rows inbetween others -- rather, you have to count how much you are going to copy, then insert blanks, then paste, then double-check you didn't accidentally overwrite existing ones!
If you are writing a general plugin to handle tables, you might think about doing this automatically. I don't know, perhaps you can test how much rows are "in the copy buffer" at the time of pasting.

Is there a way to copy & paste a clip from the timeline in one project in to another project?

I am using Premiere 6 on a Windows 7 machine.
Is there a way to copy and paste a clip from the timeline in one project in to another project?... I can copy my clip, but when I open the other project, it will not allow me to paste it in there... but I am able to copy and paste a clip within a single project. I tried everything... pasting in to a new video track and pasting in to an existing video track in the second project, but the paste option simply isn't there when I open the second project.
And if Premiere itself will not allow me to do this in any way, will a copy-paste clipboard type of accessory app allow me to do this?... if so, which is the best, trustworthy copy-paste app that is malware free?

I just read the page that you provided about "Handles"... thanks allot for that ARTICLE. In your article and the subsequent article HANDLES, "Transitions Overview: applying transitions" linked from your article, it indicates (in PrE and PrPro anyway - I'm in Premiere 6) that transitions can be applied to non-Video 1 tracks... the paragraph below is a quote from that "Transitions Overview: applying transitions" article...
"Whatever is below the transition in a Timeline panel appears in the transparent portion of the transition (the portion of the effect that would display frames from the adjacent clip in a two-sided transition). If the clip is on Video 1 or has no clips beneath it, the transparent portions display black. If the clip is on a track above another clip, the lower clip is shown through the transition, making it look like a double-sided transition."
So this indicates that transitions can be applied to non-Video 1 tracks since it is referring to content in tracks beneath a transparent fade that would show through... and only non-Video 1 tracks can be transparent and have other clips "beneath" them in the timeline, right?
In the screenshot sample in your article at this LINK, I see the handles (referred to as B and E) and I can see in my monitor window how those handles would be represented by the two little bracket symbols { } ... you can see how they appear in my monitor window in Premiere 6 in this screenshot, and below, from a different thread that isn't related to this topic.
But I'm still trying to figure out how the handles can be applied in the non-Video 1 tracks in the timeline to insert a transition (cross-dissolve) between two clips.
Can you advise me on this?... I posted a separate thread HERE on this topic, but I haven't got any further with finding an answer.

I am currently working on an Ebook I plan publishing, discussing affiliate marketing.
I am using some resources from other Ebooks I purchased and have in hand.
* While I am trying to copy paste some content, it does copy, but when trying to place it in a notepad file, the content is being copied as gibberish. (signs and spaces).
I've tried using microsoft word, then i totally gets out of contrast.
Did anyone experience something alike?

This is common. In this case it may be done to protect the copyright
content of the ebook from reuse. Since the amount you can use under
fair use is only a few sentences, it shouldn't take too long to
retype...

Perhaps the people who spent a lot of time and money to produce the websites.....and who own copyright ...don't want anybody using their work without payment or credits. Have you contacted the websites owners to ask permission?
IF any person(s) use anything from websites without permission apart from being to lazy to email to request permission....could face a legal action if and when the sites owners fins out.
There is another her misconception that "free" websites and content on "social media" such as the dreaded FaceBook....can be used without consequence. Almost all "free" websites are common licence material - which requires permission and those who give permission do so only for personal or none profit reproduction.
i Use a blocking script on my websites which apart from preventing a right click...those who try are whisked off my website to the the UK copyright website page which explains my rights!
You may wish to check out your iBooks contract with Apple and read their warnings on use of others copyright material.
You could ..and should contact the websites...explain what you want to use and why....and ask them if they can supply media.

Disabling copy paste screenshot function from webdypro output

I am working on a webdynpro application. I have used formatted text view element the outout view. The requirement is when this text is displayed in output it should not be copied pasted nor screenshot can be taken for security reason.
This means when I execute the program and the text gets diesplayed in Internet Explorer copy paste function should be disable.
Printscreen option should also be disabled.

I don't believe that anyone ever said that you could disable cut and paste. This too is a function of the browser interacting with the OS. There is nothing that you can do from Web Dynpro to effect that.
I did a google search to how to avoid cut and paste in the browser. Even with full control over javascript and the HTML rendering (which you don't have in Web Dynpro) this is very difficult to do. Some suggestion are to use a CSS with a transparent image overlay or to render an image with the text. Even some of these approaches can be worked around by someone persistent enough - by viewing source for instance.
Also avoiding the screenshot is pretty much impossible and certainly isn't the responsibility of the application.

How do you copy paste a thumbnail from one file to another in Mavericks

I used to be able to do a copy/paste and duplicate in the thumbnails...how do I do now in Maverick?

In the Pages and Numbers applications, the thumbnail view of my document no longer allows me to re-arrange, duplicate or otherwise edit the thumbnails. I have read the directions in the manual, but when I go to the document where I want to put the page the paste function is greyed out. I assume this has something to do with styles, but can't find what to do.

You got it.
Paste is greyed when we try to paste a page from a WP document into the thumbnails area of a Layout one.
It's active if we try to paste in the pages area.
In the document's tool bar, there is an icon with a + symbol at top left.
In WP documents it's named Sections, In Layout ones its named Pages.
