Copy & Paste DMG Password

I'm using a password manager (not keychain), which i use to generate long and complex passwords. I need to make an encrypted DMG, with a long password, but find i cant use copy & paste like i usually do with most other apps. the password i need to use is pretty long, so typing it out even just the once is a bit of a headache. is there any way to change this in leopard? i've searched and found nothing yet.

Why? The Finder will store that password in the keychain if you ask it to. You will have to type it in once, but only once. If your 3rd party password manager can't do that, you'll have to contact them for support.

  • Password protecting PDF from copy/paste, not secure in Mac "Preview"?

I created a book for someone and sent a PDF of it.  I secured it with a password so it can be printed but not edited or copy/paste compatible.  When I open the PDF on Acrobat on my PC, its locks me out as it should.  I sent to friend and of course its the same way on Acrobat on his Mac.  But when he opened it in "Preview" on the Mac, it lets him copy paste.  He said he is using OSX Lion 10.7.4.
Why is Mac's viewer bypassing the security and how can I keep it from doing this?

A PDF consumer (viewer) is expected to honor any standard security restrictions that are in place, but there is no way to ensure that every one will. A different method that provides a strong form of security could be used, such as Certificate security or LiveCycle Rights Management (a type of DRM), but then non-Adobe viewers such as Preview wouldn't be able to open the document at all.

  • Copy/Paste for Network Password

This is just a small annoyance that I has bugged me. In the dialog box that comes up when you have no preferred networks available, it asks which network you would like to use instead. Then, if you pick a network with an encryption, a field for "Password" appears. In the past with Tiger, you could copy and paste a password into the equivalent field in the equivalent dialog. But now, it won't let me copy the password from an rtf file into that field.
It's a minor difference, but I hope Apple can change this back to the way it used to behave. I don't see why it would be important to stop a user from pasting.

Sounds like Apple is trying to enforce better security practices. This is also true with the login window so I suspect this functionality will remain the same.
If the password is readily available in an rtf file on your computer, why have a password for the network at all? Worse yet, if any outsiders know this, they'll target your computer in order to get other passwords. Major security breaches can be caused by combining multiple escalations of privileges. At the very least, I recommend against discussing your security procedures with anyone who doesn't need to know.

  • Email password copy/paste - Nokia 5230

I have a 64bit password for the email I want to synchronize with my phone. Its random letters and numbers. I want to be able to copy paste that to the relevant field. Or I want to disable the "hide password" option (where anything I type is converted into *'s) since after typing it I have no way to verify if I wrote everything correctly. Mistakes do happen with a touchscreen.

Highlight the text you want to copy. Depending on your OS version you should get a small menu that shows options for cut/copy/paste/ select, etc. If you don't, highlight the text, and hit the more key at the bottom and select Copy.
Then in the field you want to paste, touch and hold and you should get a pop up menu with a paste option. If you don't get the option, put the cursor in the field, hit the more button at the bottom, and then select paste.
That said, there are some fields where copy/paste doesn't work. If you're in an HTML email and the text is actually part of a picture you won't be able to copy it.

  • I am unable to copy and paste my password onto the Hotmail page

I live in China and their censors watch everything I do on the net. Before I had no problem when I typed in my password, which would give them access to my Hotmail. But I opened a document on my laptop and put in all new passwords for everything. It worked for a while, but Hotmail seems to have changed their page. Now when I try to copy and paste my password on the Hotmail page, nothing happens. The dropdown box has the paste on it, but it is not highlighted, so I can't just paste it in the password box. I've had to use IE which works, but every time I perform an action on a page, the page jumps as if they are taking a snapshot of what I'm doing and I really don't like it. Any suggestions?

Did you try to use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+V or Ctrl + Insert) ?

  • Garbled text when copy-pasted from a pdf document in Preview

I have this PDF document which I created in NeoOffice. When I copy some text from it, then paste it somewhere (or just go to Finder>Edit>Show Clipboard) I see garbled text. Or, if I go into the search field within Preview and type a word which I know exists in the PDF, it doesn't find it. But if I copy-paste it from the PDF document window into the search field, the copied term appears garbled in the search field itself, but I do get search results.
This happens only with this particular document, which I myself produced. No password/encryption or anything weird; just a straightforward print job from within NeoOffice.
    Any clues? Many thanks.

happens to me all the time in preview, copying something that I need to paste, like a URL. Quitting and relaunching usually solves it, but now that won't work on the text I am copying today.

  • How do i prevent people from copy paste or printing a pdf file when it is uploaded online

i secured a pdf file through acrobat pro ix, with password thus preventing it from being printed and copy paste. But when i upload it to a website, people are able to print and copy paste... how do i prevent people from copy paste or printing a pdf file when it is uploaded online

You can make sure that you use Adobe Reader as a PDF Viewer in the browser, although some browsers do not work with Adobe Reader.

  • Can't drag/drop or copy/paste; spotlight missing

I can no longer drag/drop or copy/paste files or folders.  I can select "copy" but the option to "paste" is grayed out.  I also no longer have spotlight on the menu bar.
One possible cause - there's a tmp folder in my trash bin.  I have no idea how it got there.  Is that the cause?  if so, how do I reinstall the tmp folder?
I'm running 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro.  Thanks.

Hello, the ones in the link I gave...
Mac OS X 10.2.8 or earlier
    Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/).
    Type:ls -la / | grep tmp
    Press Return.
Look at the resulting text. If it matches the following line (which would indicate that /tmp is still present) then this document does not apply to you, and you should stop here and try another troubleshooting path.
    lrwxrwxr-t 1 root admin 11 Jan 15 11:00 tmp@ -> private/tmp
The timestamp following "admin" will reflect the current date.
If you do not see the line above, then type:
    sudo ln -s /private/tmp /tmp
    Press Return.
Enter your administrator account password when prompted, the press Return.
I still have a question, but first.....
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! I can't express how thankful I am for this post! Had the same exact problem as the discussion starter. I didn't even notice Spotlight was gone until finding this post! I thought the issue was Adobe/app related until copy/paste didn't work!
***If you try the code, after entering your password successfully, make sure you RESTART your computer!!!***
Now to my questions. Please help if you can:
    1) I can see that the tmp folder is an alias folder now; but can I still delete the original folder that's still in the trash (which is minus two files now, because I tried emptying the trash)?!??
    2) Also, I have a x2 backup of the original folder before putting it in the trash (and emptying; that's how I know the tmp folder is minus two files). So my second question is, can I put the backup folder BACK where the alias folder is, and them delete the alias!???
Thanks for any answers! That last thing I want to do is mess up again!! :/

  • Copy & Paste problem stops working

I've been experiencing an unusual issue with the copy and paste function on my MacBook Pro. The copy & paste function appears to work fine after I've restarted the computer, but after a short period (can be hours or days) the copy & paste function stops working. Instead of copying the highlighted section (usually I'm copying text) when I go to paste the text, all I appear to get is one space. As I use this feature countless time in the run of a day (copying from mail, Daylite, NeoOffice, Text Edit...)this is turning out to be very annoying.
I have recently re-installed "MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.11Intel.dmg" to see if that made any difference, and everything seemed to be working great for about 5 days, then the same issue started again. If I shut down and re-start my Mac, it seems to offer a temporary solution to the issue.
I have not tried re-installing the operating system.
    Thanks in advance.
    BassPlayer07

Amazingly, I found this looking for a fix for the exact same problem. Mine started today, though it could have been yesterday as I don't remember using copy or paste yesterday.
The one change I have made in the last 48 hours is that I installed the MS Office SP 1 update that just came out. I know it was working right after that update because I was using copy/paste in Word.
The other difference I've found is that a restart doesn't seem to fix mine. I just restarted and still no copy/paste - just a single space instead. And you're right, it doesn't matter what you copy, it always pastes just a single space.
I've tried CMDC/CMDV and the menu items to the same effect.
I hope someone has an answer.

  • N97 Copy & Past missing?

How can I copy urls from the browser, or past passwords into my wlan configuration? On my N95, there was a dedicated key for copy&past but this key has been stripped by Nokia on the N97. I could live with that, if there would be a key combination equal to CTRL+C and CTRL+V, however I could not find such a combo on the querty keyboard.
I know that in some cases (like in the text message app) there is a copy&past function hidden in the options menu, but this is app specific. How come the most powerful Nseries device no longer supports systemwide copy&past while its competitors (*cough* iphone *cough*) finally got it working?
Another thing (related to this issue): how can I input the following password to my wireless lan?
    adlq/=2$)=`vkne
I could not find the ` character in the special chars table. And since I can't copy this symbol from a text file, I see no way to input this password on my N97. :-(

s there cut, copy and paste?
Steve: Yes, but not with hotkeys (Ctrl C etc), annoyingly - it has to be done via 'Editing options - Copy' etc on the Options menu in each application now.

  • OIM custom web page developed shows up on copy pasting the URL in browser

    Hi experts,
I am facing this weird issue. I have developed a custom web page to generate password after adding custom menu item in OIM.
The web page shows up on copy pasting the URL in browser. Only System admins after loggin in should get this menu item and page after clicking on it.
    http://xxxx:7778/xlWebApp/generatePassword.do
But any1 can access this page currently. I have changed the action class to check for valid session,so clicking reset doesnt trigger the code.
So atleast the functionality is protected.
But the page still shows up on copy pasting the URL. How do i prevent this from happening ??
Any suggestions and pointers would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Confused developer.

My action class does extend tcAction class.
Does my action class need initialisation code i.e. below lines of code ??
                   ConfigurationClient.ComplexSetting config = ConfigurationClient
                             .getComplexSettingByPath("Discovery.CoreServer");
                   final Hashtable env = config.getAllSettings();
                   tcSignatureMessage moSignature = tcCryptoUtil.sign("xelsysadm",
                             "PrivateKey");
                   ioUtilityFactory = new tcUtilityFactory(env, moSignature);
    1 more question :
Should i check for valid HttpSession() in the execute function() of the action class ??
Can you share code for a sample custom action class please ??
    Thanks in advance.

  • Copying data into Password Keeper

Is there any way to copy data from a Word (or Excel) document into Password Keeper?  Could you email the Word or Excel document to yourself, open up the doc on your BB, and then copy and paste into P'word Keeper?  I'd appreciate any suggestions/thoughts for how to do this.  I have a massive number of passwords and it would be easier to type them into Word or Excel and then copy and paste them into Passwork Keeper. (I recognize that for security purposes, I'd want to delete the document, etc.).  Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, emailing yourself the document and simply copy/pasting from the Word/Excel document to the PK application would work.
There is not a simpler import function into Password Keeper.
If you want a more full-featured password keeper application, check out DataVault or KeePass.

  • Cut, copy, paste issues

I have been using a Z10 for the past 2 years, so I am familiar with ho the cut, copy, paste is supposed to work. My new Leap does cut, copy, paste but it does so inconsistently. If I have copied a password from my Password Keeper and used it, for example, banking, then I copy something different and try to paste what I just copied, when I paste, the password I copied previously gets pasted instead of what I copied most recently. Also, whe I attempt to paste something into an email and at the end of the email, I am unable to place the cursor at the end of the email, the last word of the email is highlighted which forces me to paste over the last word in the email. Of course the pasting itself isn't always the last thing I copied, so I, too often, have to long type everything that I should be able to copy, paste. I'm wondering if the glitch is in the newest OS. Th one I am using is: Software Release: 10.3.2.226 and OS Version: 10.3.2.2339. Thank you for your help.

    ... to continue.
This solution just occurred to me. You can select the range of text that will include all your selections, and then Format > Table > Convert Text to Table.
As a table you will be allowed to select non-contiguous cells and Cut or Copy them. When done, you can Format > Table > Convert Table to Text.
