Copy Paste Illustrator to Flash CC

Hello!
I am noticing that the fonts when copied or imported do not match. I looked into it further and found that the line spacing is set to "-" after copy pasting illustrator content. I am assuming that the negative font line spacing is not transferring maybe something to do with it being a float or decimal. I have to import about 150 illustrator files I wanted to find out when this bug would possibly be addressed and how long before an update might be pushed for this. If need be I can produce files/instructions or a video to reproduce this issue. I would hate to have to write a macro to add another step to my already intensive process
>.<
p.s. I love the new flash cc theme
flash
illustrator

There seem to be many compatiblity issues popping up from the rewrite of Flash.
Until adobe fixes the Illustrator import dialog, you can get more reliable results by "creating outlines" in side of Illustrator right before you copy then paste in Flash.
This will convert editable text to paths and increase accuracy in exchange for text edability.
I hope this helps.

  • Copy+paste issues in Flash CC 2014

Is anyone else having trouble copying and pasting code in Flash CC 2014? I typically work with smaller code blocks and then merge them into a master file, but that requires copy+paste. When I copy, it appears to copy (paste becomes highlighted) but I cannot paste in any way into the code. it's not working between documents, and not even working inside a single document.
Am I missing something obvious? Any help would be appreciated.
    - Just confirmed, switching back to Flash Pro CS6 works just fine with copying and pasting, as long as the content on the clipboard is copied from Flash CS6 and not CC 2014. I cannot copy anything from Flash CC 2014 into another Flash document.

It's in the code area, and I tried pasting it (didn't show anything) and then executing the code, and it didn't do anything.
I then tried creating a text area on the page, and went to the Edit menu - and "Paste Special" was the only available option. So I tried that, and it says "Source: Unknown Source" and the only option I have is to Cancel.
I then went into Flash CS6, and copied a line of code from that. I tried pasting it into the Flash CC 2014 actions console, and it did nothing. I then went back to my text area (still in Flash CC 2014) and it pasted the code in there fine.
So, it looks like I still cannot copy from or paste into the actions panel Flash CC 2014, which is what I need. But, maybe this sparks another idea? Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

  • How to Copy/Paste Symbols containing Flash Components without creating copies of the Assets

I think the fl.controls components can be useful if you want to do things the way they are built. However, I'm running into a serious usability issue whenever I need to have slightly different "versions" of a symbol that contains the same component.
For example, I have a question view that has 9 rows of Radio Buttons in it (each row is inside a symbol that manages the state of the Radio Buttons). The Question View symbol would be in the Library in Question Templates>QuestionType>ThisTypeOfQuestionView. For my demo, I want a version of that that has only 6 rows of Radio Buttons. So I copy my Question View Symbol to Instructions>QuestionType.
This has added a folder called QuestionTemplates>QuestionType with my ThisTypeOfQuestionView in it, along with a new copy of the RadioButtonRowSymbol and folders that are copies of the Component Assets needed for RadioButton (and guaranteed not to work, since you can only have only one asset with the same linkage id).  I rename my Question View to DemoThisTypeOfQuestionView and move it into the root of Instructions>QuestionType. Fixing the copy of RadioButtonRowSymbol is easy--I just drop the copy of QuestionTemplates back on QuestionTemplates.
But the repair process for all the extra component assets involves opening every folder in the nonfunctional Component Assets copy to its lowest level and dropping the contents onto the appropriate "real" component assets folder and selecting "replace" each time. This is tedious and fraught with error.
Is there a setting somewhere I can select that leaves pointers to assets in copied symbols pointing to the same place, while still keeping base class definitions in place?

I can't say for sure but I believe because skinning is a very important part of components, the duplication was a necessary evil. I believe they favored the slight file size increase and skin customization.
The problem runs just as deep in code completion. You'd expect completion when creating a copy of an object but it's just not sophisticated enough because of the dynamic and custom nature of the code. In the same way you can provide multiple custom skins to duplicated components you can provide custom class variants so it doesn't inflect the completion because you never really know what the user really intends. I believe this is a limit of that, not knowing that you don't care to customize the duplicates.

  • IDSCS5.5 How to determine if a pageitem was copy/pasted from Illustrator

    Hi,
    My flow is as follows:
    - Open document in IndesignServer
    - (XML)Tag every pageitem with our custom IndesignServer plugin (c++ SDK)
    - If pageItem is a group, tag every member separately
    - save/close the document
    My problem is:
    - If pageitem was copy/pasted from Illustrator and pageitem has a gradient fill => IndesignServer crashes while tagging.
    - Copy/pasted illustrator items with plain colorfills work fine.
    Note that:
    - Copy pasted pageitems from illustrator with a gradient fill are considerated as group in Indesign.
    - The gradient fill of Illustrator is not recognized as such in Indesign ( I could only test with Illustrator CS4).
    - The lack of color information in that situation is not enough to consider the object as "from Illustrator".
    My question:
    - How can i determine if the origin of the pageitem is Illustrator? (I have no control on the creation of the document).
I know this is a hard one...
Thanks in advance for any usefull input!

  • CS3 & Leopard - can't copy/paste from InDesign Illustrator?

I have just loaded Leopard and then CS3 onto my new MacBook Pro and then upgraded my existing iMac with another Leopard and the same CS3. Neither machine will allow me to copy/paste images or text boxes from InDesign > Illustrator - It appears to try to (shows the working color wheel - then nothing happens) It will allow me to select/copy the text WITHIN a text frame but will paste text only - not attributes????? I can copy /paste Illustrator >InDesign. also have no problem between Photoshop and either of InDesign or Illustrator?????? Have spoken to Adobe - they have no solution at this point and are 'getting back to me'.... Not a problem on Tiger/CS2 on iMac before upgrade. Appreciate your help!

Possibly running out of ram since it needs to rasterize for photoshop. Save the ai file then let photoshop open it.

  • Problems doing copy/paste from Flash to Illustrator

This is a problem I've had since Flash 8: when doing a
copy/paste from Flash to Illustrator (on Windows), there's extreme
degradation of the artwork, sometimes to the extent that no actual
art is even copied. All the curves seem to be approximated with
straight line segments, but at some point it just seems to give up
even trying, leaving an unidentifiable blob for most of the object.
As I said, sometimes it doesn't even copy anything at all -- all
that shows up after pasting into Illustrator is an empty group.
The weird thing is that this process worked fine in Flash MX
2004. What could possibly have changed? I was sure with CS3 it
would be fixed, but it wasn't. I haven't tried Illustrator CS4 yet,
but copying from Flash CS4 to Illustrator CS3 produces the same
    problem.
I've seen a few other reports of this problem in other
forums, but I've encountered it on every install of Flash and
Illustrator I've tried (admittedly, all Windows machines, but three
or four different ones, both XP or Vista). Can anyone here confirm
that this problem exists or doesn't exist on their computer? To
test it, create a piece of art with plenty of curves and several
colors in Flash, then copy and paste it into an illustrator
    document.
If this problem is as widespread as my experience seems to
indicate it is, why hasn't it been fixed in two major revisions of
the software? Is Adobe even aware of it? If not, how can I let them
know? I'm getting majorly sick of having to deal with it.
Illustrator used to be a much larger part of my animation process,
but now I can't use it how I really want to because of the bad copy
    and paste functionality.

    Hi,
The integration between Flash CS3 and Illustrator means you
can copy objects from Illustrator to Flash and i think if you copy
from Flash to illustrator or Photoshop, you would not get a good
    results.
You can solve your problem by exporting your Flash work as
    .AI.
Your idea about the ability to copy from Flash to Illustrator
is a good idea although Illustrator can not read some of the Flash
imported information correctly. But it is still a good enahcement
idea. There is a link where you can add suggestions but I do not
remember it and I am replying using mobile, so my browsing
    capabilities is limited.
I will try to post the link here when I got to my back normal
    connection
    Thanks alot!!

  • Copy & Paste Flash- Illustrator

I'm having a lot of trouble copying artwork from Flash into
other vector-based programs. It seems like what's happening is that
it's dropping a bunch of vertices and/or only transfering straight
lines instead of curves. For instance, I have
    this symbol in
Flash. When I copy and paste it into Illustrator I get
    this. As I'm
sure you can see, it completely drops the dark line at one end
(which is technically a shape, not a line), and it mangles the
    shape of the main piece.
I'm using Flash 8 and Illustrator CS but I'm pretty sure it's
a problem in Flash. I have the same problem when I copy from Flash
8 into Flash MX 2004. I _don't_ have this problem, though, when
copying from MX 2004 to other programs.
Here are the settings from Flash 8's Clipboard preferences
panel (though I don't think any of these should have any bearing on
    this problem):
    Color Depth: Match Screen
    Resolution: 300 dpi
    Size Limit: 1000Kb
    "Smooth" is checked
    Gradient Quality: Normal
    Freehand text: maintain as blocks

flash 8 and AI are 2 different apps developed (at the time)
    by 2 different companies - so copy/paste
between them isn't directly supported but you may get lucky
    depending on the artwork.
Just export from flash to eps or AI - then open in AI.

  • Not precise vector copy&paste from Illus cs4 to flash cs4

    Hi,
does somebody knows if there is a solution to that or does somebody have an explanation to this ...
I have a really complex shape made in Illustrator cs4 that I need to import in flash cs4. When I import my shape in flash , my shape doesn't keep the exactly, precisely same shape. I try to reduce the amount of point with illustrator with Object->path->simplify ... It's help but not enough. My shape is to complex to re-draw one by one every single points as the original.
I did some test as in Flash cs3 and this problem dosen't exist. In cs4 you can test it do a circle , the smallest you can and zoom , you will see that the circle is not a circle anymore. (cs3 does't do it)

You can copy/paste from Illy to ID by selecting the text with the type tool in Illy and then pasting it into ID. You will not be able to maintain the formatting. If you want to maintain the appearance the text will be converted to outlines.
If you need to get anything other than very simple objects from Illy to ID then you should save as AI and use the file > place command to place those objects as linked graphics into ID.

  • Illustrator wont copy & paste at 300 ppi regardless of settings

I just recently reformated my computer and I've been having an issue with copy and paste from Illustrator to Photoshop. Before I could copy a 2"x2" vector box from Illustrator into photoshop making a new document and the size and resolution would match. That is the new document would say 2"x2" at 300 ppi in photoshop and the preset would read "clipboard". I would then hit ok and paste and it would match perfectly. Now since I've reformated, photoshop always creates a new document with the wrong size regardless of the settings I enter in Illustrator or photoshop. I have document raster and effects set at 300 ppi in Illustrator and I have the new document set at 300 in photoshop, but it always transfers the 2"x2" box at 72 dpi regardless of settings. Again this used to work before so I'm assuming there is some setting I forgot about. Does anyone know? The main issue is the clipboard preset is not matching the document size, its almost as if Illustartor is telling photoshop it's a different resolution when it's not. Copying to 72 ppi seems to have no issue, which makes me think Illustrator just isn't sending it out at 300 ppi, but I don't know why as I have the document set at 300 ppi. I confirmed this as I can make a 2"x2" box in photoshop and paste into Illustrator and it reads as 2"x2" at 300 ppi in Illustrator, but if I copy from Illustrator back to photoshop it pastes it at 72 ppi. Changing the settings to 300 ppi in Illustrator seems to have no effect. Might be a bug. Should I try reinstalling?

    Unfortunately, it's a known bug.

  • Copy & Paste from Illustrator to InDesign CS4

    Hi,
I am aware that there are issues when copying/pasting from Illustrator to InDesign, in particular:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/InDesign/6.0/WSa285fff53dea4f8617383751001ea8cb3f-6bdda.html
    I have the following problems:
1- I copy and paste text from Illustrator to InDesign on the same platform and some (not all) of the text is converted to outline in InDesign. The same font is available to both applications. Why this behaviour?
2- I copy and paste objects containing text from Illustrator to InDesign and some of the objects appear to have moved respective positions when pasted into InDesign. Is this to be expected?
Are there solutions to these problems? Note that if I expand everything in Illustrator prior to copying and pasting into InDesign, none of these issues occur, but everything is obviously in outline form, with the limitations it entails.
My clipboard settings are as indicated in the link above, but I have tried other settings with no more luck.
(Important: Before pasting a graphic, make sure that Illustrator is configured to copy as AICB (see Illustrator Help). In InDesign, make sure that Prefer PDF When Pasting isn’t selected in the Clipboard Handling preferences. If these options aren’t set properly, the Illustrator graphic cannot be edited in InDesign.)
It is not practical for me to create an Illustrator file for each of the Illustrator graphics and import those files via Place into InDesign. I must use Copy/Paste.
    I use CS4.
    Thanks.

  • Copy/paste shapes from Illustrator also brings in a black background. Why?

When you copy/paste a shape from Illustrator into Muse, it also brings in a black background. Why does this happen and how do we delete it?
    Thanks!

It's a bounding box when you copy Vector from Ai and paste it into Muse the file gets converted to a Raster image.
you should copy the vector shape into Photoshop and scale to the size you need then export it. (Still Raster)
But you can also Export it as .swf and import that into muse and it scales nicely looks good in preview even after you resize the shape...   (No bounding box)
    Hope this helps

  • Copy/paste error in Illustrator CC 2014?

Anyone experiencing any copy/paste behavior in AI CC 2014? When I copy objects from one Illustrator file and paste them into another, I get double the objects onto the canvas (from 2, 4, from 3, 6, etc.) ... and I do not have a trembling set of digits that causes my to paste multiple times in a millisecond. This only happens "here and there" BUT often enough to have me asking you all. Thank you.

    si-bone,
    You may try the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Why do vector objects copied from illustrator cc don't stay the same dimensions when pasted into pho

I think the problem started with the last updates. The normal work flow of copy and paste no longer functions correctly.
Photshop is changing the dimensions of vector artwork copied from illustrator, and pasted to photoshop.
If I start with a 6in x 6in vector shape in illustrator, and select copy, I should be able to go into photoshop, select file and then new,
and the document should automaticly get the dimensions from the clipboard. For some reason that 6in x 6in opens a 0.6in x 0.6in document.
Even if i manually change the document to 6in x 6in, anything else I copy from illustrator larger than 6in x 6in gets its dimensions changed to fit inside the document. I cant copy and paste a 10in x 2in vector into the 6in x 6in document without photoshop changing the dimensions
so it fits inside the document. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks.

illustrator has no dpi, that info wont copy to the clip board. There are setting within illustrator you can set so when you do raster something in illustrator, you can pick what dpi it will raster it to. But even if you raster something in illustrator, the dpi info doesn't copy to the clipboard.
The Photoshop: File, New, opens a window with the default set to pixels and 72ppi. When you have something stored on the clipboard, First you change the pixels to inches, cm, mm, anything but pixels, the dimensions stay locked in and Then you can change the ppi to anything you want.
The issue once the file is opened, and you try to copy and paste in something larger than the canvas still needs corrected. I have found a quick work around. After you paste it, before you select ok or hit enter, look at the info where it displays the % of the size of what's being placed.
It shows it at less than 100%, so change it to 100% (and constrain) and its back to original size.
