Copy + Paste in exact same position

Hi. In PS7.
Have 2 files open with same dimensions. I have a little number on the first file I would like to copy & paste to the second. I want it in the same exact position on the second file as it appears on the first.
I thought if you dragged the layer from the first file onto the second while holding shift key would do it, but it only places the number on the center of the page.
Is there something else I should be doing for this?

I apologize. The 2 files were not the same size. They were off by not much, but not the exact same. Holding the Shift key does work while dragging.
I will use your Duplicate Layer tip sometime tho, Ed.

Copy roto selection to same position in all frames

I am using AE CS5 in Production Premium. I also have moca AE 3.1 that may be a better way of trying to isolate an object using planar tracking. I need to replace an item that appears in the same position on all frames of a clip. This is a previous problem I covered some time ago involving a spiders web that was fixed on an 8mm film gate. As a result, the web appears on the top left hand corner of every frame in the clip. Perhaps a different approach will work. This is complicated because the background behind the item changes such that the boundaries of the selected item become blurred. I will need to further isolate sections of the clip where there is similar background interference, e.g. a background of mostly dark trees in the top left may to be passable. There may be a way I can gradually replace the web with background that appears in following frames as the background moves by using duplicate layers.

You don't. You're thinking in wrong terms here and will work yourself to death if you follow that approach. Instead export a frame, isolate the pattern as a clean greyscale image in Photoshop. Then you can either use it as a matte to punch out the disturbances directly or by creating proper transparency, possibly in a pre-composition by using it as a luma matte on a white solid, as an input for an adjustment layer. Then you can eitehr just fill in the blanks with a copy of your footage that you have slightly shifted in position or in the second case apply effects liek Minimax, Matte Choker and varius blurs to fill the gaps. CC VEctor Blur with the transparency channel as the input will do miracles to "sew" such stuff together. Of course you might also consider RevisionFX' RE:Fill as sort of a canned and pimped plug-in tool set for these kinds of things...

When I copy a rezized image and paste it somewhere else in my document it shrinks to the size it was when I first added it to my document.
Please can someone tell me how I copy resized images so that they remain the size I want them when I paste them?

I'm a little confused. I see you say you can "easily" rearrange the priority on the timeline, but I am having a really hard time with this. Having to drag and drop each one is very laborious and time consuming. Do you have any wonderful shortcuts for allowing me to reorder several objects at one time?
What I'm finding is that when I try to drag multiple layers at once, the timeline flashes, but nothing happens. The "Bring to front" and similar buttons aren't active with multiple objects selected. I'm sure it's just something I'm missing.

Why does my mac book Pro pick up wifi but my new ipad wont in the exact same position in my house?

I sit in my lounge with my mac book pro and it picks up my home wifi perfectly yet when i sit with my ipad, sometimes it works and picks it it but then at times it looses the connection and I cant find the hub?? why is this and is there anything I can do to stop it from happening?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

How to paste text box into the same position

when I used
adobe acrobat 6.0, I can paste the text box in the same position in the next page, it is very useful for editing files with similiar information. after I use acrobat 9.0, I found that I can not paste the text box in the same position in the next page. do you know whether the 9.0 can realize the function of "paste in the same position"?

Copy paste video edit to another drive

In windows I was able to just copy-paste to another drive to temp save it..How is it dome in Mac
..I have it on 1 500gb and ant to send it to a 750gb..
will the video be intact and can I access it from my software from either drive?

in addition to dragging you can copy/paste in exactly the same way as in windows. select the video file in finder and enter command+C. then go to the directory where you want to paste it to and enter command+V.

Copy paste text between documents bug

When I copy paste styled text (text or text containers) between CS6 (or CC) documents, the language for the text changes to a wrong one (from Finnish to English: British), along with the spelling of course. The style does follow correctly to the fresh new document, but ID makes an exception to the style for this pasted text (Style1+). The transferred style itself still has the correct language defined.
Doesn't happen when copy pasting within the same document.
All default languages are correct (default and within styles). Deleting preferences did nothing.
Anyone else has this? Any suggestions on how to correct this. I seem to remember there was something like this ages ago too.

• New user: no help.
• Save as or IDML: no change, same problem.
• Snippet: language does remain correctly Finnish!
• ID5.5: no problem at all! Language remains correct.
So, this is my persistent problem:
• Any text with a style on it becomes (as a local exception to style) wrong language when copy-pasted or dragged as a whole page between docs.
• The styles them selves transfer correct. Clicking style for each paragraph again sets the correct language (but the original local adjustments are lost).
• No style has [Basic Paragraph] as a parent and [Basic Paragraph]'s and the general default language are Finnish, too. The wrong language (English: British) is not used anywhere.
• Text with no style remains correctly Finnish (target default).
• IDML: same problem. Save As: same problem.
• IDMS: language remains correct.
• Trashing preferences doesn't help.
• New user account doesn't help.
• Effected versions: ID CC (9.1 fi), ID CS6 (8.0.2 fi). CS5.5 (7.5.1 en) is not effected. System is Mac 10.8.5 (fi).
• CC has no extra plugins. CS6 and CS5.5 have Suitcase (F4) plugin only as extra.

Copy/paste opacity problem

I´m having this weir issue with objects that have gradients with opacity.
If I drag to copy, it´s makes a perfect copy. But if I copy/paste the object it becomes solid. This applys copy/paste in the same document and if I try to copy/paste into a new document.
This problem came with the upgrade to Illustrator CS6.

With Acrobat 6.0 I was able to copy a stamp in the same position (I mean "exactly" the same one) of different pages just by using the "copy/past" tool.
Now I am using Acrobat XI and it seems like it is not possible anymore: I am copying a stamp and I am trying to past it in anoter page, but it appears in the center of the page (or wherever it wants to...).
Does anyone have a solution?

Just a practical question, but I would need this kind of feature very often:
How can I copy-paste a front panel object to the very same location? Lets consider I have a TAB container, and on the first page, I have a Graph. I would like to make a same graph on the second page of the TAB, but at the very same XY location compared to the TAB container.

hm, I have just realized, there is an option to "duplicate page" for the TAB containers And it does the magic for me, creates the exact copies of all the objects

Copy / Paste Same Button on Many Pages

I have to copy & paste a simple button on every page of a lengthy document. (Hundreds of pages.)
Is there an easy way to paste the button in the same place on every page, or do I have to do it manually, over a very long period of time?
(Also, is it tough to paste the button in a specific position, or do I have to eyeball it for every one?)

Yes, I used the object select button. I've had some other issues and
think that the problem is that there isn't enough memory on my computer.

OS X can natively read NTFS of Windows, but not write to it.
Windows can't read or write to HFS+ of OSX, and that's a good thing from a security standpoint.
Ideally if you share files between operating systems you should have a FAT/MSDOS formated USB key or hard drive. (exFAT external drive if any of your files are over 4GB in size) both these formats are universal for OS X or Windows.
If you install software into Windows and OS X to read each others formats, then you have to pay to update/upgrade it deal with headaches.
If you swtich between Windows and OS X a lot, don't need full hardware performance for Windows, you may consider installing virtual machine software like VMFusion or Parallels which can take a copy of your Windows in Bootcamp and place it into OS X as a file then run that copy of Windows in a window in OS X like so.
Advantage here is you run most of your light weight Windows programs like this at the same time as OS X.
Benefit is you can run just about any Windows or Linux version and OSX server editions (not client versions)
Bootcamp only allows Windows 7, that's it now.
You'll also be interested in two fre pieces of software, Carbon Copy Cloner and Winclone on macupdate.com.
CCC clones OS X partition and Winclone clones the Bootcamp partition. Valuable for you.

How can I copy/paste rows inside the same table?
I tried with ITableModel, but its function CanPaste() returns me kFalse. And I tried with kTableCopyPasteCmdBoss/ITableCopyPasteCmdData, it crashed.

You are correct, but this behavior has always amazed me. ID *never* inserts the correct amount of copied rows inbetween others -- rather, you have to count how much you are going to copy, then insert blanks, then paste, then double-check you didn't accidentally overwrite existing ones!
If you are writing a general plugin to handle tables, you might think about doing this automatically. I don't know, perhaps you can test how much rows are "in the copy buffer" at the time of pasting.

(Copy 1) printer not keeping the exact same driver settings

I am almost finished with a a Windows 7 image build that will be going out to multiple locations. Found a "bug" of sorts. During our build (done with Powershell) several printer drivers are installed, including a PS3 driver from Lexmark.
We have several custom size images for labels that will be printed all over the country. When tested with that driver, it works just fine. However, when an image is installed and we attach the Lexmark, we automatically get the infamous "(Copy
1)" that kind of screws everything up. Even though it shows it as using the EXACT same driver, on the original printer, we can create Custom Sizes up to 48" in length. But on the "Copy 1" printer, we can only do Custom Sizes
up to 14.17" in length.
Why do we have to deal with the infinitely NOT helpful "Copy" printers in the first place? And why is Windows 7 not copying the driver EXACTLY as the original printer??

Have you used "PersistAllDeviceInstalls" setting to keep the drivers from the reference PC?
The unattended-Setup setting: Microsoft-Windows-PnpSysPrep\PersistAllDeviceInstalls
can save time by preventing Windows Setup from removing and reconfiguring the device state for identical hardware.
Meanwhile, the hardware must be connected to identical locations and must use the same drivers, and the drivers must have a consistent, unique naming scheme. If the hardware is not identical, it would be problem result.
