Copy/Paste Layer Style Bug

Really, you guys didn't fix the copy/paste layer style bug in 13.0.2. Wow, easily reproduced, there is an adobe recommended workaround, meaning very aware of the problem, and couldn't fix it for this update, very sad Adobe, very sad. Can you let us know when this will be fixed?

The 13.0.2 update was targeted to fix one specific bug. It was not intended to be a general bug-fix update.
We are testing a fix now for the layer styles bug and others, and we intend to include these fixes in the next general update, which is currently slated for release in less than two months.

Copy/Paste/Edit menu bug. Anybody else seen this?

I have a project with an imported stereo wav file on track one. It is about 8 minutes long, 44.1k. I am trying to copy small regions of this track and then paste those into track two and make these little pieces real audio clips. (Thanks again to Bee Jay and Jim Frazier for the help with that!) In this example I use the Marquee tool to highlight a 2 measure section of track one and from the Edit menu I select COPY. Then I select track two and move the playhead to the location I want to paste the copied clip.
Now, when I click on the Edit menu to select PASTE the drop-down menu is gone! However, to restore it I found a way. Minimize Logic, then maximize it again and the Edit drop-down menu has returned ! Very strange.
This has got to be a bug although not too serious. But it is very annoying having to minimize/maximize Logic just to get the drop-down menu back especially since I am using this copy/paste function a LOT. So it makes it very time consuming to have to do this. And it happens every time for me.
I sent this in to the feedback of Logic but wondered if anyone else has seen this?

Yes - I had this today for the first time in fact!
The Edit menu title was still in the bar, by when you clicked on it, the edit menu was completely gone and didn't drop down (the rest of the menus were fine). A weird one. I found it amusing for a couple of minutes until I got it back again (I've no idea how I did it) and it hasn't happened since.
Another one for the buglet files, methinks...

JTextPane cut,copy & paste with styles

When you cut, copy & paste with JTextPane, it doesn't include the styles. Has anyone have an example of extending the DefaultEditorKit.CutAction class for example to include this extra behaviour?

Copy/paste settings: a bug?

I am using LR 3.0 and made a sharpening adjustment in a photo which I wanted to copy to multiple others. In Develop module, I hit Copy, clicked on "Sharpening" and then selected a dozen others and hit Paste. Not all the others had a sharpening adjustment showing up in History. Is this a bug?

Since you are in the Develop module, I assume you are selecting the images in the filmstrip. If you do not have AutoSync on, then the paste will only affect the most selected image.
Turn on AutoSync and see what happens.

PS3 to Fireworks: Copy Layer Style

Here's the setup for my question:
In Photoshop I can create a shape, apply effects through
Layer Style and copy those effects onto other objects. To achieve
this I go to:
Layer > Layer Style > Copy Layer Style.
I then select the different object I want to apply that same
style and do this:
Layer > Layer Style > Paste Layer Style.
My question then, is: what is the Fireworks equivalent to
this?
In Fireworks I have an object with a gradient blend applied
to it. I want to copy that same blend onto another object but thus
far have not been able to find the command.

In Fireworks you use Copy and Paste Attributes.
Copy anything the normal way you copy something (there's no
special Copy Attributes, just use the all purpose Copy command,
Ctrl/Cmd+V.)
Edit > Paste Attributes
Paste Attributes will paste all sorts of stuff from the
objects in your clipboard: filters (like layers styles in PS),
vector fills (including fill handle positions), vector strokes,
object opacity, blend mode, and text attributes when
applicable.

Pages Copy & Paste Style Buttons don't change font size and style?

Shouldn't the font size and style also be copied and pasted when I use the buttons to copy & paste the style within a page?

It seems that the description of these buttons in the Help is not clear.
After several attempts, one may understand that they don't apply to attributes inserted "by hand" with cmd + B for instance but to "styles" defined in the Styles drawer.

Copy layer style in illustrator

Hi all,
I'd like to know how I can copy a layer style (effect, gradient.,,) of an object to another like in photoshop.
I tried eyedropper, but it only picks gradient not the effect.

Set up the Layer with the effects you want and then highlight the Layer line in the Appearance panel. With the Layer highlighted, from the Graphic Styles panel flyout select New Graphic Style. Give it a name. You should get a new style that looks like this. This will apply the layer style to a new layer.
You will have to have a fill and stroke on the items on that layer for it to show.

Copy/Past of a certain style in Numbers

I would like to know if i can simply copy/paste a style from a different cell into a newly created one (Including the fill colour and format)

You want a drop cap with a nested style. Drop cap is self-explanatory. For the nested style, make a character style that makes your text bold and small caps, and then set a nested style that calls the character style until End of Nested Style Character. Build the nested style and the drop cap into a paragraph style, and then insert the End of Nested Style Character at the end of the first line.

Photoshop layer style in Flash?

I know about the import> stage etc. but using that just
brings in it as picture and normal text which won't have the layer
style. I don't want to delete the text I already have there because
it has an effect on it which I don't really remember how to get
again lol
I'm also not sure which layer the effect is... Why can't they
just add a copy and paste layer style between programs...

Thanks for your reply!! I'm glad somebody finally answered my lsst post.
After a few days of waiting for a reply, I gave up tried on my own.
Again I unintalled, turned off my antivirus (Avast)and reinstalled. Again no change. After doing this three times, on my fourth try I thought, what the heck, what harm can I do disabling my firewall also. Bingo!!!. I guess I always thought my Antivirus Program and Firewall were two different securities. That should be pointed out when told to disable your antivirus. Don't you think? I'm not a newbie by any means. It just goes to show you, you learn something new everyday.
Anyway I'm glad the problem is solved.

PE 4.0 can you save custom layer styles?

How do you create your own layer styles and make them available in the layer styles palette? Is there a way to do it with Elements?
For example, if you have your bevels, your shadows, your inner & outer glows, all set up just the way you want them, and you'd like to re-use them in the future in other compositions, then it would be useful to be able to save your layer style.

Using Photoshop it is possible to create and save your own layer styles but this isn't possible in Elements ... what you could do is save the layer in a file of its own then drag and drop it into your new image and do
Layer>Layer Style>Copy Layer Style
Layer>Layer Style>Paste Layer Style
Then discard the old layer ..
Long way round but it sort of works ... well providing the sizes, resolutions etc are similar...

Besides an .asl file, what are the requirements for creating a new layer style?

The only additional step i would do is delete the MediaDatabase.db3 in
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\en_us
at the same time you delete the ThumbDatabase.db3 in
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0
Also, if you want the same layer styles to be on the list for your shapes and text, you can copy the layer styles to
(just the .asl files, not the .xml files)
C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Presets\Styles

Could we copy and paste class styles in Reflow like layer styles in Photoshop?

I don't know if it's in there or not, but it wasn't mentioned in the tutorials, but I think this would be really useful, if possible. We are trying to use Reflow as a means of designing our assets once in a psd and then creating the responsive layouts to our development team. This way we won't have to spell out font sizes, colors, etc. or take time saving each individual graphic asset. Everyone will be happy!

You can "copy visual styles" and "paste visual styles" between elements in Reflow, which makes it easy to make multiple elements use the same CSS. However, there isn't currently a way to actually share the same CSS rule between elements so that you can change it in one place and have the new CSS apply in all instances.

Copy/Paste Style not working consistently in iOS Pages

I cannot figure out what is going on with iOS Pages Copy/Paste Styles.
Sometimes it works, but often it doesn't. I copy a style, and then select the text I want to paste the style to, and the 'paste style" option doesn't appear. It's as if no style was copied in the first place. Tried multiple times with the same result.
Also, it is not really clear to me WHAT is included in iOS Pages styles. It appears the font and size is included, but not the color. Not sure about other elements (line spacing, etc.). Is this described completely someplace?

You are not doing, something wrong. I have the same problem.

This must be a BUG, in Pages, after the latest update.
Had zero problem, with this before.
Have to over and over again turn off iPad and restart it.

Copy / Paste Styles between objects?

Can you copy/paste styles between different objects in Motion 5?
I know I can save a Style as a name and then select it from the style list. It would be great to just copy a style and then select another object and paste. Can you do this?

Motion lets you drag and drop parameters on different things. If the action is "not allowed" you won't be able to do it. That said, if you have a rectangle located somewhere on the screen and you want to line up text over the rectangle, just drag the Position parameter of the rectangle onto the text layer in the layers list.
For "like" objects, for instance: shapes, you can drag the Outline and Fill panels (the entire panel!) onto another shape and all of the contained parameters will be copied over. So, if you have a red outlined (say 10 px wide), blue filled rectangle, and you want the same properties on a circle, just drag those panes (click on "Fill" And "Outline") onto the circle.
If all you want to do is save styles of shapes, or text, that you've created, then for shapes, on the Style inspector theres a Shape Style dropdown at the top of the parameters list. Click that and Save Shape Style. Whatever your current settings are, they can be saved and reselected from that menu. For text, at the top of the Style inspector, you'll generally see Normal (in whatever that layers font is.) Click on that bar and select Save All Basic + Style Attributes.

I'm not sure that InDesign ever really copies a story, just the text in the story. Since the label and the track changes setting were associated with the story itself (and not with the text in the story), they didn't survive the transfer from one story to another.
It may depend on how you copy/paste--I'd expect the above to be true if you copy/paste with the Type tool, but I'm not sure what happens if you copy/paste all of the text frames in a story using the Selection tool. It may be that the label is maintained in that case.
