Copy Paste text that contains cross-references destroys them

Hi folks,
Using ID CS 5.5.
Working on a book file that contains ca. 30 documents.
Copying (or cutting) and pasting any text that includes a cross-reference to another document in the book breaks the cross-reference.  This happens even if pasting directly back into the same location.  Cross-references to locations within the same document are not affected.
Is this a known issue?  Is there some kind of work around?  It seems like too big a bug to not already be solved.
Thanks.
EDIT: working on this further, I realize it's actually much, much worse than I've described.  Copying and pasting crossrefs across documents can sometimes destroy all cross refs in all documents in the book.

painstakingly change each setting on the control tab.
Painstakingly is your only option other than using something like this: http://www.xmedit.com/

  • Copy and paste text that contains 1/2

'''ALL''' text from any Firefox webpage that contains the character "1/2"… when pasted into a word processing document (Appleworks v. 6.2.9, in this case) inserts MULTIPLE 1/2 spaces.
All individual text characters are thus separated by two (2) 1/2 spaces and word spacings are three (3) 1/2 spaces.

The way to do it in previous versions (at least in version 9) was by
right-clicking the field and selecting Duplicate. This created copies of the
fields in the same place as the original, but also with the same name, and
therefore the same value. You will need to rename them if you want them to
be unique. If you need to do this very often, a script might be a better
    solution.

  • Pasting text that was copied from microsoft word 2008

In dreamweaver CS3, if I want to paste text that I have
copied from Microsoft Word 2008, i have to paste it in entourage,
copy that and THEN I can paste in dreamweaver. I can't paste
directly in Dreamweaver from word. is there an extension that will
    cut out this extra step?
    Thanks much,

I just copied two paragraphs of text from Word 2008, and
    pasted it into DW's
    Design view. No tables.
What is it you are copying?

  • Adobe Acrobat. Change "Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, ..." also for highlights made before changing the setting

I am looking for a solution to apply the "Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups" setting to highlights that I made before I changed this setting.
Someone wrote a batch for this which costs 60 dollar and this seems to do what I am looking for: Custom-made Adobe Scripts: Acrobat -- Retroactively Copy Highlighted Text into Comments
Where can I find Adobe's solution for this problem?  I do not want to buy external batches for a professional software suit.
I expect that this is a common problem for people who start to organize a large literature base with many pdfs and must keep track of highlighted text. I was not previously aware of the "Copy selected..."setting, but I need to change it now for all my pdf files to make them compatible with a reference manager that I want to use. New comments are now compatible, but the hundreds(!) of pdfs that I worked through before are not, so copy pasting the highlighted text into comments is not an option.

    Hi gb145,
You are posting on acrobat.com online service forums.
Kindly post this query in Acrobat forums:Acrobat

  • How can I copy/paste text from one page to another?

I feel like I am taking crazy pills... is there really no way to copy a text box (or group) from one page to another while creating books in Aperture 3?  Lets say I have my entire book laid out and I want to add one paragraph at the end on one page which will push text and photos down a half page or so... in most programs for the last decade or so they added really cool functionality... cut/paste...  It seems like the apple developers are aware of it because they are in the context menus but they don't work on text, only photo boxes.  Additionally, you can copy/paste text but it erases all formatting.
Seriously, am I missing something?  I have trouble believing that they can't include this function.
    Anyone else have this issue?

Update... it seems to only happen with text boxes which I create.  So when I try an existing theme I can cut/copy/paste just fine, but in that same theme if you edit the layout and add a new text box, I can't copy paste it anywhere... the options are in the menu but nothing happens.
    Thoughts? Solutions?
    I am running 3.4.3 on a MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.3

  • How to copy/paste texts/images from webpages in iBooks Author?

    Hi,
I want to copy/paste text/image contents from webpages with iBooks Author, somehow images can't be copied, only texts can be copied with copy/paste editing. Wonder if there are any ways to include images with simple copy/paste?
Tried to search iBooks Author help, could not find answers. Please help.
    Thanks

Perhaps the people who spent a lot of time and money to produce the websites.....and who own copyright ...don't want anybody using their work without payment or credits. Have you contacted the websites owners to ask permission?
IF any person(s)  use anything from websites without permission apart from being to lazy to email to request permission....could face a legal action if and when the sites owners fins out.
There is another her misconception that "free" websites and content on "social media" such as the dreaded FaceBook....can be used without consequence. Almost all "free" websites are common licence material - which requires permission and those who give permission do so only for personal or none profit reproduction.
i Use a blocking script on my websites which apart from preventing a right click...those who try are whisked off  my website to the the UK copyright website page which explains my rights!
You may wish to check out your iBooks contract with Apple and read their warnings on use of others copyright material.
You could ..and should contact the websites...explain what you want to use and why....and ask them if they can supply media.

  • Copy/Paste text between Photoshop & illustrator CC not keeping formatting

Hi, before when I copied text over from photoshop to illustrator it kept the text formatting. For example the font, font size, color.
Now when I use CC and copy paste text from PS to AI, all text formatting is lost and everything is placed as whatever the current AI text setting is.
HOWEVER, pasting from AI to PS WORKS as it should. All font/text formatting is maintained.
Is this a bug or is there a setting for this that I just never knew about?

Now when I use CC and copy paste text from PS to AI, all text formatting is lost
Seems to work for me on Photoshop 14.0 and Mac OS 10.8.4.

  • RoboHelp Crashes when I Copy & Paste Text then Amend the Pasted Text

I am copying text from one RoboHelp topic then pasting it into another RoboHelp topic (within the same project). If I then try to make a change to the pasted text RoboHelp crashes. This happens every single time so at least it is consistant!
    Any suggestions/solutions?

Bit weird but it seems to be playing ball now!
I copy/pasted text in the HTML editor and it works fine. Went back to the Wisiwig editor and tried it again, and it didn't crash.
Really weird, I must have consistently crashed the sytem over 20 times this morning, so no idea why it chooses to work now!
Thanks anyway, if it happens again I will reinstall RoboHelp and see if that is a long term cure.
    Cheers,
    Nicola

  • Is there a way to copy/paste text in Photoshop without keeping formatting?

    Hello,
Is there a way to copy/paste text in Photoshop without keeping formatting (font, size, color, etc)?
I found this feature very annoying.
Is there a way to turn it off?
    Thanks.

You can use this simple workariound:
copy the desired text  and paste it in a simple text editor app like notepad (win) or textedit (mac).
Then copy this unformatted text and paste it in photohop.

  • Unable to copy/paste text or HTML to DW

    Hi everyone!
I'm new to this but maybe someone can help. I can't copy/paste text or HTML to Dreamweaver. I get two different error messages when trying to do so. I am attaching screen prints of them. Has anyone had this problem?

There are a number of reasons why JavaScript errors could be
occurring. Adobe covers some of these errors on this page:

It's a must if you want to be able to maintain lists on your phone and freely/easily re-org them at will.
Unless they gave us a drag-able checklist like Apple's insanely great Notes & collapsible checklist/outliner feature from the Newton (see <<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Newton#Notes">this>) then I'd be happy.

  • When I copy/paste text to an ipages empty document can does it only show the first page of what I copied?

When I copy/paste text to an ipages empty document can does it only show the first page of what I copied?

You want to use word processing mode. I suggest you ask your question in the Pages forum and include information about what you are copying. Off the top of my head I can't come up with any reason you'd see this in WP mode.   https://discussions.apple.com/community/iwork/pages

  • Text Insets and Cross Reference Links

When I use text insets to produce a host file from my source file, I have cross reference links that update OK. However, once I produce a PDF of the host file (text inset), my links do not work. I do not even get the little hand icon to indicate they are links. I am producing my PDFs using File/Save As PDF and the first checkbox on the Links tab is checked. Is this a problem using text insets?

Unfortunately, that's the way insets work in FM. Cross-refs within an inset do not automatically become active. If you convert the inset to text, then the links are made. I believe that Rick Quatro wrote a Framescript to handle this in an automated way.
The manual way to do this, is to make a copy of the book - using Bruce Foster's Archive utility is the way to go: see http://home.comcast.net/~bruce.foster/Archive.htm
Then use the Edit > Text Inset Properties > Convert... > All insets to embed the insets into the documents (you have to do this on a file by file basis); regenerate/update the book file and only then create your output.
