Copy/Pasteing SD Timeline in to 720p HD Timeline...

Hey folks,
I've got a project in a SD timeline, it consists of images with motion keyframes in there, like a slide show kind of thing. There are also some that contain video as well.
I need to output this project in 720p so I just created a new 720p timeline and copy / pasted the SD timeline in to the new 720p one.
The images and video are obviously now much smaller in the larger 720p frame so I need to manually drag everything to fit, however, since there is motion keyframes, this throws the keyframing off on everything. Is there a way to automatically make all of the images and video scale to the size of the new, larger 720p frame?
Thanks in advance!

Right-click the sequence in the timeline and select "Open in Viewer", then go to the Motion tab. Scale.

you need to swap those symbols out for new ones or as rafiq

  • COPY/PASTING timeline marker ???

    Hi,
can you copy/paste also timeline markers when you copy/paste parts of a timeline to another? How ?
I've checked to index of PP3 help butfound nothing.
PP3 seems pretty primitive regarding markers maleability... :(
    Thank you.

aye. Get jEdit and hit "reformat buffer".But that doesn't work properly if there are any comments in the code.
I agree that it is a pretty annoying problem. Sometimes I do this:
    1) Click "Reply"
    2) Click "Quote original"
    3) Copy the code
    4) Paste it into Emacs
    5) Using "kill-rectangle" to remove the leading > from each line
    6) Paste it into Eclipse.

  • Is there a way to copy & paste a clip from the timeline in one project in to another project?

    Hello Popular Premiere Pontificaters,
I am using Premiere 6 on a Windows 7 machine.
Is there a way to copy and paste a clip from the timeline in one project in to another project?... I can copy my clip, but when I open the other project, it will not allow me to paste it in there... but I am able to copy and paste a clip within a single project.  I tried everything... pasting in to a new video track and pasting in to an existing video track in the second project, but the paste option simply isn't there when I open the second project.
And if Premiere itself will not allow me to do this in any way, will a copy-paste clipboard type of accessory app allow me to do this?... if so, which is the best, trustworthy copy-paste app that is malware free?
    Thanks,
    digi

    Hi Bill Hunt,
I just read the page that you provided about "Handles"... thanks allot for that ARTICLE.  In your article and the subsequent article HANDLES, "Transitions Overview: applying transitions" linked from your article, it indicates (in PrE and PrPro anyway - I'm in Premiere 6) that transitions can be applied to non-Video 1 tracks... the paragraph below is a quote from that "Transitions Overview: applying transitions" article...
"Whatever is below the transition in a Timeline panel appears in the transparent portion of the transition (the portion of the effect that would display frames from the adjacent clip in a two-sided transition). If the clip is on Video 1 or has no clips beneath it, the transparent portions display black. If the clip is on a track above another clip, the lower clip is shown through the transition, making it look like a double-sided transition."
So this indicates that transitions can be applied to non-Video 1 tracks since it is referring to content in tracks beneath a transparent fade that would show through... and only non-Video 1 tracks can be transparent and have other clips "beneath" them in the timeline, right?
In the screenshot sample in your article at this LINK, I see the handles (referred to as B and E) and I can see in my monitor window how those handles would be represented by the two little bracket symbols {  }  ... you can see how they appear in my monitor window in Premiere 6 in this screenshot, and below, from a different thread that isn't related to this topic.
But I'm still trying to figure out how the handles can be applied in the non-Video 1 tracks in the timeline to insert a transition (cross-dissolve) between two clips.
Can you advise me on this?... I posted a separate thread HERE on this topic, but I haven't got any further with finding an answer.
Thanks so much for your article,
    digi

You seem to be new to this software, so I highly recommend that you take some time to learn it using some great tutorials available online - it will pay off to invest the time, if you follow through, for example the great (and free) introductory tutorial at izzyvideo.com.
This is an amazing piece of software, and you'll have a lot to learn, but it's well worth it.

  • Extend the timeline by copy paste

I'd like to copy and paste a set of keyframes and frames at the end of the exisiting timeline... maybe several times to extend the timeline.
However I've been a bit flumoxed as to how a simple chore like that is done.  It does not appear one can copy the frames, then set the cursor at the end and past the frames ahead of cursor,
Or do I have to create multiple layers to get the same effect by placeing them end to end down the timeline.
In the included screen shot, I'd like to copy/paste the frames on layer1 on down the time line but still on layer 1.
As you can see I've started using layers to create the same effect... but is that really the way to do it?

this technique will work on multiple layers as well.
Ahhh cool.  A little different than some applications but still sort of obvious now I see how its done.

  • Feature Request: Disable target tabs setting destination for copy paste

It might have seemed like a good idea at the time but pasting to the targeted layer causes way more problems than it solves. If for instance if I have 10 video tracks which is quite common and wanted to copy and paste a clip to track 10, I have to turn off the target buttons on all 9 tracks below to do that. I do know about option drag which works but sometimes if you're zoomed out you can't get a hold of the clip you are trying to copy. Also I may need one of those layers to help me copy to the right time but now next edit function doesn't stop on them anymore.
What is important is being able to select which tracks you want PPro to stop at when you hit the next edit keys. For instance if I'm doing a color pass I don't want to stop on audio edits or gfx edits. So If I go through that whole process of turning these things off just to clone a clip I then have to turn them all back on. IMO it doesn't make sense to share these two functions with the target buttons and it's just too tedious in the first place to use the target buttons to set paste destination.
What I think would make sense would be an option that says copy paste follows target selection or copy paste to same layer. Then the target buttons would mainly effect which media in your timeline you want to focus on which is way more important IMO. This could also be done with an extra keyboard function. IE paste to same track or paste to targeted track and have both functions available.
Also I think you should have the option of stopping on the ins and outs with the next edit buttons. It's very common to use an in or out as a quick marker for a point in the timeline where there isn't an edit yet.

Yes I know about alt dragging. Not so great to copy a one second clip in an hour long seq way down. That's the point of it. As it is now it will likely copy to a different track then you want it to so you have to go over and start clicking all kinds of buttons to get the thing to not over write something and maybe / probably all off or all on for the target buttons is nothing close to what you need and you had the buttons how you wanted in the first place. And after you paste you have to click more buttons to set that up again.
So for one: this method of targeted copy / paste is not efficient at all, and two: sharing two totally different functions for the target buttons is not a good idea. A very simple fix is to provide the option of copy / paste to same tracks.
This is an opportunity to do it better than FCP because FCP would copy and paste to the same tracks but it had very bad control over which edits the program stopped on using the next / prev edit keys. It's much more efficient to only stop on the video edits and usually one or two tracks when doing a color pass. In FCP you had to disable the audio tracks to get it to ignore them so that you're not pushing the up and down buttons 5 times more than necessary but then you couldn't hear the audio. When you're doing color you want to hit the button once and be on the next shot. With my suggestion you get to focus on exactly what you want and copy / paste isn't a button-fest. This is like golf. Fewer strokes wins!

  • Finished sequences is wrong timebase, cant copy paste into new sequence

I am coming onto a project finishing it for a first time editor and he cut 23.97 footage in a 29.99 seq, there are many time effects etc. I tried copy/pasting into a new seq but everything ends up in different places. I cant change my seq settings as it is grayed out, this is outside the realm of my experience any advice would be much appreciated! Cheers.

Different timebase...OOOCHIE! This is what people get for not paying attention, and what happens with the OPEN TIMELINE being able to edit almost any format. People don't see the RENDER BAR and just carry on...ugh.
Nothing to do but to copy and paste into a correct timebase, and manually close all the gaps. *****, but what you need to do. Been there....cleaning up after an editor.

  • Copy/paste clips from a library/project to another copying media on the new library

I want to copy/paste some clips from a project timeline to another but COPYING MEDIA also on the second library/project. How can I do?

I'm in the project  "Anima mia" (which is together with an event in a library: all with the same name "Anima mia"). I want to pick up FROM THE TIMELINE some audio clips (which are the edited part of bigger clips placed in the browser) and some video clips (which are the edited part of bigger clips placed in the browser) and copy them on a new Project called "Riferimento" (which is with an event inside a library: all with the same name "Riferimento"), and I want to copy also the concerning original files to the new library. But I can't, infact if I copy/paste these clips in the new project/library I get this
I'd like to choose if leaving the original media in the source library or if phisical copying them to the new library. But it doesn't seems possible here....
    Is it clear?

  • Copy-pasting and lifting audio between projects--no playback

    Hello everyone,
Every time I copy paste or lift audio from one project to another (i.e. copy, save project 1, close, open project 2, paste), the audio works fine for that session but ceases to play back when I reopen the project later. The audio in the project media / clip selection area will work just fine, but when I double-click on the clip I pasted in the timeline, the clip preview window shows a red field and no audio. This basically means that I'm losing all the edits I made in project 1 and having to re-insert each piece of audio into the project 2 timeline and redo my edits. What's the problem? Is there any way I can copy-paste audio from one project timeline to another?
    (Edit:) I'm using CS6.
    Thanks very much,
    Josh

It  wont work  that way because you are playing it out of the Clipboard. which is temporary.
Usemultiple  Sequences in the same Project instead if you want to do that. to different edits

  • Copy-pasting results in no audio

If I copy-paste an edited sequence from a previously saved timeline to a new one all is well at first glance.
However when I save and close Premiere and then re-open, the clips are there but the sound isn't. What could cause this?

Sorry, I should have been clearer. That is what I''m doing - saving wmp formats etc. as a .mov (I have Flip4Mac installed). However, when viewing the information of the movie within Quicktime, it says that the video is still windows media video.
Still, the problem I'm having is that there is no audio (neither is it registered in the information panel qithin Quicktime). Could it be that the .mov is referencing the audio as opposed to embedding it in the video? And if so, how do I get it to embed the audio? Do I have to use iMovie?
    Thanks

  • Can I copy/Paste Markers From Clip to Clip

I have a .dv clip that I have embed markers at the browser. It is a PAL.dv clip I extracted from a PAL DVD a customer wants edited down to 20 minutes from 1:30:00. Used MPEG StreamClip to rip to disc, but, for some reason, there are dropped frames (it plays back with stutters). So, I re-ripped the DVD to Quicktime DVCPRO-PAL and the video seems crisper and does not seem to have the dropped frames.
However, I have already embedded 40+ extended markers in the DV clip, and I am hoping to just copy ALL the markers and paste embed them into the MOV clip. The timecodes on the two clips are identical.
In lieu of copy/paste, can I import an EDL or EML list to apply the extended-markers to the new mov clip?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Right. Got it. Those markers are in the clip itself.
I just tried something as an experiment:
Drop your clip into the Timeline. You will see that the markers are on the video track -not in the time bar of the Timeline. So shift > arrow down will not move your playhead to the next marker.
Make the Viewer the active window. Press shift arrow down. Press F (match frame). Now the timeline window is active. Press M (places a marker in the Timeline). Repeat for your other markers.
Swap the video file in the Timeline for the better version. Drag the clip from the Timeline back to the browser.
You now have your new source clip with markers.
Not exactly copy and paste, but it's all I have at the moment.

  • Posting Feature Requests for others to Copy/Paste

I recently posted a Feature Request I sent to Adobe for another member to copy/paste as his own FR since he liked the suggestion (see the FR below).
After doing so, I got the idea that we could all do this: copy/paste FRs we send to Adobe into threads on this forum to help each other support the idea with similar requests, or even copy/paste the FR as our own.  With limited resources and time, there's only so many requests Adobe can implement in every new version.   That why it's so important that new features the Premiere Pro team invests their hard work and time on be the tools that would benefit the greatest number of editors.  The more people back up certain ideas, the more likely they'll be implemented sooner than later.
There's power in numbers, so how about using this forum to share our best ideas and make it easier for others to add their voice of support?  It's great that Adobe provides us with a way to send them feedback, but it's too bad that it's a one-way conversation with very little, if any, dialogue back and forth between the submitter and Adobe.  That's why I thought it would be great to bring more of that potential dialogue here, where we can share ideas and support the creation of an ever better Premiere Pro!
If you've never posted a FR or BR (Bug Report) before, you can easily join the effort to make Premiere Pro become all that it can be, here: www.adobe.com/go/wish
    Comments?  Ideas?  Please share!
Here's the FR I pasted in another thread, as an example.
    *******Enhancement / FMR*********
Brief title for your desired feature:  Drag&Drop Modified clips into Project Window
How would you like the feature to work?
Ability to Drag&Drop clips with effects, motion settings, keyframes and/or markers back into the Project Window from the Timeline for later use.
Why is this feature important to you?
The Project Window is far better than Sequences for storing/organizing modified clips for future use, since it is:
    Searchable
    Sortable
Viewable in Icon and List views
Full of helpful metadata columns such as 'Video/Audio Usage'
Foolproof in that the original sequence can be deleted without losing any created subclips
Given these advantages, why only allow us to store modified clips in Sequences? Please fix this by allowing users to Drag&Drop clips from the Timeline to the Project Window while preserving all of their modifications (effects, keyframes, motion settings and/or markers).

    Comments?  Ideas?  Please share!
As it has already been discussed in this thread (and duplicated threads are not allowed in Adobe Forums), the aforementioned feature request is mainly based on the false statement that an editor can either store raw clips in the Project panel or modified clip in the timeline. That's false because an editor can nest modified clip right in the timeline and the nested sequence will be automatically stored in the Project panel, turning into a regular reusable asset.
Unfortunately, the OP, as was also outlined in the duplicated thread, carefully avoids any mentioning this ability, which becomes your second nature if you use After Effects (which is unlike FCP is a part of Adobe Suite).
However, since the OP asks for sharing ideas, I do not hesitate to do this once again. Here is the feature request intended to improve the usability of such PrPro assets as 'Sequences' without breaking existing workflow:
    *******Managing Sequences*******
It would be nice if managing capabilities for such assets as 'Sequences' were extended with the following features:
    - similar live thumbnail view, which was introduced for footages in CS6. A small 'Sequence' badge in the top left corner of the thumbnail would allow to differentiate between sequences and clips;
    - enabled metadata and ability to handle them like for any other regular asset;
    - ability to remove empty audio or video tracks completely, i.e. get a sequence as an Audio or Video asset only;
    - pop-up dialog box on hitting 'Nest' command, which would allow to give meaning name instead of default 'Nested Sequence XXX', contain 'Delete All Empty Tracks' checkbox and a button for advanced dialog for logging metadata right on a brand new asset creation.
These features would improve an ability to exploit sequences as reusable assets and preserve consistent applications behaviour throughout the Suite instead of breaking existing workflow by inventing new FCP style 'subclip with effects' type of asset. See this discussion in PrPro Forum for some more details:

  • Premiere-AE copy paste

    Hi!
I have been working with both programs for a while now and when I need something done in AE I usually copy paste the clip from the Premiere Pro timeline. What annoys me a great deal is that AE will not only paste the clip I have selected, but also create a long empty space in the composition that reflects the premiere pro sequence length (I guess). I would simply like to have AE bring the clip that I want to paste and let me worry about the lenght of the composition. Am I doing something wrong and is there a way to copy-paste smarter? How do you guys bring your premiere footage in to AE?

That extra space is the rest of the clip. You trimmed it in Premiere Pro and all of it is available in After Effects. You can ignore it or use the workarea bar in AE to trim the comp.
