Copy pictures from iphoto 08 to sd card

Can someone tell me step by step how to copy pictures from iphoto 08 to an sd card using a card reader?

hi, is there a way to have the SD card appear directly in iphoto in a way that allows you to drag and drop photos into it the same way you might do so with an album? I tried doing this with the default format of the SD card and it would show up but not let me view the contents or copy photos onto the SD card. They I tried using disk utility to reformat the SD card as a macOS Extended device and now it doesn't even show up in iPhoto. The main reason I'm trying to do this is so that my father will have an easy way to transfer photos from iPhoto to his digital photo frame using the SD card. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

  • Copy pictures from my iMac to my ipad

How do I copy pictures from iphoto to my ipad.  I do NOT want to sync, only copy certain pictures from various events to my ipad.

The sync method, by definition, means you replace all the pics, with all that you want.  Mentally, you are using your computer as the master, and just copying down what you want.  So if you really only want to just add specific pics, you cannot do that with the sync option. Although, once you get used to the routine, it is virtually the same.  Assuming you want to add 1 picture, and assuming you have the photo section set up as you left it last time, you simply x the additional picture and push sync.  It recopies everything that was there, plus the new picture.
But I can understand if you want to add and remove certain pics on the fly that you need a different solution.  And Dropbox works great.
There are other options that might not fit into your free approach, but when you get a buck or two left over, take a look at photosync.  I use that all the time to send picts to and from the pad, phone and desktop.  Buy the app once and you can install it on any I devices.  There is a desktop app as well, I think it is free, but not real sure, as it has been a year since I got it.   And if you are using a brand x phone, there is a version for android.  And they all talk to each other.      Not free, but a worthwhile couple of bucks if you really want an easy way to flip pictures around.  ( there are other similar apps, this just happens to be the one I am familiar with)

Do you have a SD slot? If not you get a USB to SD memory card adpater at the computer/office/online store and use that.
It appears as a drive on your machine and you can use Export from iPhoto or drag and drop methods too.
    Make sure you backup

how do I export pictures from iphoto to a sd card?

Exporting from iPhoto to the SD card is preferable. Dragging to the card will only write the lower quality  preview files and not the high resolution originals.
Export to a folder on the Desktop and then drag the folder to the card. If the file system on the SD Card is not MacOS Extended (Joournaled), you'll avoid a problem with the limit of files, that can be stored on the top level of the card by collecting all files in a folder.
Actually I found the opposite was true.
As you can see in the following picture, the dragged photo, which is the one named IMG_2268.JPG  retained more metadata and had a larger file size than the one I exported which was reduced in file size, and lost a bit of the meta data in the export.   Including the creation date, and the latitude and longitude.
I think Dragging is the better option.

  • I need to save some pictures from iPhoto to a SDHC photo card for a digital frame and was wondering if there is a way to shrink or compress file size for each picture as I have already cropped the pictures? Thank you

Yes, you do this when you export the images from the Library.
    File -> Export
in the Size section, you don't need images larger than the frame size, so you can specify that and in the Jpeg Quality you can select the amount of compression used.

  • Export images from iphoto filled SD card very quickly

I have been trying to copy images from iphoto onto a 1 GB SD card via a universal card reader. I want to copy 220 photos (100 MB) but the card thinks it is full after 130 photos. I have tried to copy the photos as JPG, TIFF, PNG, copied by 'export', or dragged one at a time, copied the full image or limited in size, with or without extension, but always the same result. I was able to copy the photos onto a 4 GB card, where then 3.61 GB is still available. Why can I not copy the photos onto the 1 GB card?? Please help.

You can reformat any card using Disk Utility - but I would advise against it as the card probably won't work with the photo frame then.
Have a look at the card on your Mac and see if there's a folder heirarchy already there. Perhaps the folder needs a special name to be visible to the frame, but other than that you'll need to contact the frame maker.
To back up iPhoto you should make a back up of the iPhoto Library Folder at in your Pictures Folder. An external HD, burn to CD or DVD, online storage are among the possibilities.

  • Why is it so hard to copy pictures from my iPhone to my iPad?

I want to use iCloud to backup both my iPhone and iPad, but not any of the pictures on these devices.  I want to backup the pictures to my iMac, since they take up so much space.  What is the best way to do this?  What is the correct way to copy pictures from my iPhone to the iPad without using any 3rd party apps?  I figured out how to import pictures from my iPhone into iPhoto.  I unplugged my iPhone and plugged in my iPad.  Then I tried dragging and dropping the pictures, within the iPhoto application, onto the iPad.  This doesn't work.  Then I tried dragging and dropping them onto the iPad in iTunes.  This also doesn't work because I get a message telling me that my iPad can't play jpegs.  I eventually figured out I had to open my ipad in itunes and change my backup settings from icloud to "this computer".  Then I click on the photos tab at the top and find my album and sync it.  But when I sync it is also syncing everything else to the computer as well, which is something I wanted to handle with the icloud.  It seems like it is intentionally difficult to succeed in the way I want to, just so I am forced to buy extra storage space on icloud.  This is very frustrating.  Any help is much appreciated.

I can't see why it has too many steps? I transferred all my camera roll to my PC (yep, not a Mac) when I needed to do a restore. Then told iTunes to sync that folder, and wow, they're back on my iPhone! I'll get to the point where I'll will put them into their own folders according to the event, and syncing will magically sort them out on my iPhone too. If I later want to add more photos to that event, I just drag and drop into that folder. iTunes will pretty much sync my iPhone everytime it's connected anyway, so it's no effort at all.
With the amount of hard drive storage space available to pretty much every PC/Mac these days, it's not really an issue having a backup of wallpapers, is it? Will it honestly affect the space you'll have available for everything else?

How can I copy pictures from my computer to my SX50 so I can show them from the camera?

I know this is an older thread, but FWIW you should be able to open up My Computer in Windows, locate your memory card there, then either drag and drop and/or copy and paste images from your computer's hard drive onto the memory card.

  • Exporting from iPhoto to SD card?

I am trying to export photos from iPhoto onto an SD card on my iMac.  Each time I try to do this directly from iPhoto to the card I only get 10% of them. It is  a 2GB card and there are 900 photos which according to Info is taking up 2.0GB? The card theoretically is 2.03GB and I may be too close to the limit however to only get 10% on is very odd?
I have tried copying to a separate desktop folder (tip from another website) but still without success. In this instance the process starts to export the files and then each time stops at file 168 which can't be copied as I apparently have run out of disc space and nothing is copied?
I have used a Mac for over 1 year now but still confused with the differences between this and a PC.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
    John

It fails at the same point each time. When it reaches 168 files out of the 900 it comes up as the disc doesn't have enough space then fails to copy any of the files. There is then one icon left on the disc which doesn't open but Preview automatically opens with the last thing I looked at which is nothing to do with the photos?

  • Copy pictures from icloud to pc

When I copy a file using file manager from icloud to my pc, it changes the resolution of the picture to only 120x120 pixels.  the original picture on iCloud has greater resolution.  How do I get the same resolution from the iCloud to my pc?

    Welcome to the forums lyn
I understand you're looking to copy pictures from an SD card to your PC.
I would suggest either trying to insert the SD directly into your computer (if you have a SD slot on your PC/laptop) or have the SD card in your camera and plug the camera into the PC via USB to transfer the files to your computer.
If those options are not available to you, please let me know which printer you have and which operating system you're running on your PC and I will check to see if this can be done through the printer itself.

  • Sending pictures from Iphoto

How can my friend who uses iphoto send the pictures to me if I don't have mac (and I use gmail) ? I would need them in the original resolution or a good resolution at least etc., so I would be able to edit them. If somebody could tell me how to copy images from iphoto to a pendrive or an external hardrive (so other, non-iphoto users could see, edit and save them) that would be also very helpful.
