Copy Project - Assembly Assignment of Component

Hi Experts,
We are using BOM Transfer in our projects.
The issue is that when we create a new project as a copy of an old project the information in the Assignment Tap of the components is not being copied. And we would like to keep the information of the assembly and the main assembly of the item.
Is this because of a system error? Or it is standard behaviour? Can be mended?

If you copy a project w/o any kind of changes then you would not get any information of the assembly and the main assembly of the item,as u are purely copying the project from an existing project.
To get informatin of the assembly and it's main assembly in a project u need to do it through cn33.
I guess it's a std. behavior that if u copy a project from an existing project then you will not get any details about the assembly and it's main assembly for a material comp.

Tried the solution from another thread but did not work completely (as warned) - the workaround didn't quite work for me either:

Ended up taking a backup, did a fresh install, created the account as the first one so that it gets the same UID as the other Mac (on which my account was the first) and restored my data - was painful but finally on track.

Copying view to the same component is not working

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to split the Installed Base Hierarchy view (IBHIER/TreeEnhanced) into two parts.
Each of these parts will show a specific number of levels in the Installed base hierarchy.
So I was trying to copy the standard IBHIER/TreeEnhanced view using the copy option by right clicking on the view name.
I have already enhanced the component IBHIER.
While copying the view, I am proving the following values.
I get a message that the view is successfully copied into the z bsp application.
I can see the view added to the z bsp application in SE80.
But I do not see the view added in the view list in the component workbench(bsp_wd_cmpwb).
Can you please let me know the correct process?

i have tested in my system..
you have copied that view right then go to run time repository go to treeoverview into that view area add ur view by bspcomponent is zibhier and view is ur copied view.
go back and load the component again the you will see the view.
have you seen this link this is similar to your requirement..
How to copy standard view in same component.
just go through this you may get some idea..

Assignment of Component Configuration

Hi,
As you see in the screenshot, the Comp.Conf /.../GRC_GRAC_ERM_OIF is assigned to Component FPM_OIF_COMPONENT:
But I think this is the cause for some errors in my application. The standard looks like this:
I want to set up the configuration to the standard, but I have no idea how to assign the component configuration GRAC_ERM_OIF (which is the standard for this application) to the component FPM_OIF_COMPONENT.
The configuration is standard:
Any ideas how this could be configured?

Hi Peter,
the most interesting question in your case is, how this change could have happened. It doesn't seem to be a delegation enhancement - this could be detected via the technical help (and your screenshot doesn't seem having a delegation enhancement implemented).
Probably the following documents can help to analyse your situation in more detail:

From your screenshots I would assume that someone has purely modfied the standard delivered SAP application configuration (which is dangerous and not the way we recommend to enhance standard delivered applications - for smoothly enhancing SAP delivered FPM applications we recommend the above documentation).
What you could analyze additionaly is to have a look at your application configuration via the WD ABAP application wd_analyze_config_appl to see whether any changes to the standard can be found.

PS.: If it is really a modification you assign the original floorplan configuration via SE80. You double-click on the affected application configuration, press "Start Configurator", enter in change mode. Then you select the affected configuration and press button "Assign Configuration Name".

Assignment of component to an operation in routing

dear gurus,
By default all components of a BOM are assigned to the 1st operation in the routing. If we assign the component to other operation will the default assignment get cancelled or not? If not how to cancel the assignment of a component to an operation?

By default all the un assigned components will be assigned to the 1st operation on the routing.
You can change the assigned components from one operation to another operation also. Use the button
"Re Assign " in the component overview screen of the Routing.

and I must use a Bill of Material to assign material component. There is no other choice
This is the point where I disagree with SAP, cause the client says that they use Operational Networks, cause it's more simple to assign components to activities.

Copied project missing from Project Library

Copied a project from one desktop to an external hard drive than to a different iMac. Can see the project file in the Movies folder, but can't get iMovie to open it. Thoughts?

You can't copy the project from the Finder of OS X, you have to do any moving and copying from within iMovie.
Also you can Consolidate which combines the Project and the associated clips from your Events folders.
The Project itself doesn't contain the actual video but rather references to the clips and clip segments you used from your events.
In iMovie go to Help, type Copy Project in the search and select the first entry. It explains.
Also you should search Consolidate and have a look at that.

Copy project description (defined in WBS Level 2) automatically to activity

Hi Gurus,
How to copy project description (defined in WBS Level 2) automatically to activity name/description?
For example:
WBS element (Level 2): "Telephone System Replacement"
When create a new Activity, the description will be: "Telephone System - xxxxxxxx"
The first 16 characters "Telephone System" from the WBS Level 2 are automatically populated to Activity Short Text field.
How to realize that?

In OPSN, I am not sure which one to choose: Network Header or Network Activity, for my case. Looks like there are no standard substitution fields available. Could you please check it out for me? If no, how to use an exit? Is this exit the same as a user exit used for enhancement?

Copy few test assignment with User from one database instance to another

Hi,
I have OTL ,Payroll and HRMS system. I want to Copy few test assignment with User(Few FND Users) from one database instance to another .
Source: DEV Instance
OTL users to enter their Time sheet
OTL is intergated with HRMS to pickup Employee information
Existing business users are integrated with Employee assignment etc tables to pickup person_id
Target: Want to copy few test OTL users from ONE instance to another. Bringing FND_User is easy but EMPLOYEE_ID, PERSON_PART_ID will not come during FNDLOADER .
How to bring all information from one instance to another instance? Please advice.

Try using HRMS configuration workbench. For this you might require support from your DBA for configuring the same. Once configured, you can move the items you want.

FCP 10.1: "Copy Project to Library" does nothing?

I have a Project I'm working on that I need to transfer to an FCP user at a different location. I would like to transfer the job to an external HD to send to them. I thought I could just select the Project and then File > Copy Project to Library and copy it to a new Library (aka a "transfer" library), but when I do this, nothing is copied. In fact, the new Library that I try and create isn't even created. Something doesn't seem right...? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yea, that's one of the things I've tried. I've tried both...
1. File > New > Library (then File > Copy Project to Libray, attempting to copy to the new Library just created)
2. File > Copy Project to Library > New Library
With both attempts, the Project isn't copied (I've also tried to Move the project as well, with nothing happening). With #1, the Library is created, but nothing copied to it. With #2, the Library isn't even created (even though I go through the whole process of naming the new Library, choosing where to save it, etc.—but, when I click Save, nothing happens (the Library isn't even created).
Now, I've attempted doing the same with other Projects within the same Library, and they'll copy over fine, so I've at least narrowed it down to the individial Project I'm working with. I've consolidated the files (so they're not residing in external folders, etc.), I'm able to Duplicate the Project (within the same Library), I just can't Copy or Move it to a new Library.
Is it possible for a Project to become corrupt? Is there any way to repair a Library?
I've considered moving the whole event (as yes, I do want the associated media to be copied/transfered with the Project itself), but there are multiple projects within the event and so there would be a lot of "extra" media files that would go with it, which aren't part at that Project itself. As well, this problem, I assume, would persist on the recipients end, passing the problem on to them (which would become apparent when they need to transfer it back to us). So, I'd really like to "fix" the Project itself, so it can be copied to a new Library and transfered.
One other thing I tried was to "select all" from the Project's timeline and copy all the elements and paste into a new Project's timeline, but nothing happens that way, either, when I tried to paste (and this method works fine with other Projects' timelines).
So, there's defintely an issue with this one Project but not really sure how to fix it?
Any further advice would be appreciated.

Copying Projects

Hi,
I've had this problem for a long time and am looking for a solution. I often find that it's easier to copy an existing project to another folder then edit for a new project. As far as I can tell, CVI has no way to copy a project. So what I end up doing is manually editing the .cws and .prj files so that the new paths are correct, then opening CVI.
Recently a client sent me the project they were working on. Editing the .prj has been completely unsuccessful. For some reason, CVI sees the source files but is clueless as to the project configurations. It opens an Untitled project with no files. I tried adding the files, but then I get compile errors (when my client does not).
Of course NI will help me fix my problem, but the bigger issue is I think there should be a more automated way to copy projects, and/or zip them up, ship them off, and have them build on a different system without having to manually edit .cws and .prj files.
Yuck!
BTW, NI used to have a suggestion link. What happened to that?

this is only partially true.
Let me explain: this is true for .prj, .cws and source files listed in the .prj file.
The problem arises with files used in the "create installer" feature where you could have some problems of paths.
For this reason, some years ago Peter posted this suggestion (http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabWindows-CVI-Idea-Exchange/Save-as-development-distribution/idi-p/1290170) that is now Under consideration.

You have more flexibility for that part if you use AIR than if you use Flash Player. With Flash Player, it will be only text based information, with AIR, it can be a binary format like a bitmap

Restrict chagnes to nodes in project to assigned team member

Hi,
We have the problem in assigning the changes to nodes in project to a specific team member. To make it clear we need if there are 3 developers i want to assign dev1 to project 1 and dev2 to project 2. Developer 1 should not be able to make any changes in project2.
We check the option " Restrict chagnes to nodes in project to assigned team member" but still it doesnt work.
